How Sweet It Is

Creamy White Bean Dip with Bacon.

Published by Jessica under Sweet Eats

Oh, gosh. This is truly one of the best dips I have ever tasted. And honestly, it is delicious without the bacon.

But I have this teeny tiny problem of having to add bacon to each and every dish on the planet.  Do they have bacon rehab? Or bacon-aholics anonymous? Not that my bacon love is anonymous.

I used canned cannellini beans. They got the job done quickly.

Cannellini beans are my favorite bean. I love how creamy and mild they are. They really fit perfectly in so many dishes.

I’d like to frame this picture and place it in my bedroom.

I told you I have bacon issues.

Just look at how creamy, thick and delectable this is. There is bacon stirred in there. Tasty, salty, crispy bacon. It doesn’t get any better than that.

Creamy White Bean Dip with Bacon

1 can canellini beans, drained and rinsed

2-3 tablespoons olive oil

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon smoked paprika

4 slices bacon, fried and crumbled

salt & pepper to taste

In a food processor, add beans and mix. Stream in olive oil until desired consistency is reached. Add salt, pepper, garlic powder, and paprika, and mix again. Stir in most of the crumbled bacon. Top dip with remaining bacon.

The bacon + bean combo is one of my favorites. It is a must-try. Whether it’s baked beans with bacon, this dip, or beans from a can and freshly fried bacon off of a paper towel, you must give it a shot. I beg of you.

Definitely rethinking if I want to make hummus with the cannellini beans or bacon dip. I am thinking bacon wins just on the sole fact it is freaking bacon.

The only issue people have with bacon is they do not have enough stocked in case of (god forbid) a belly shortage in 2010.

  4. Tracyon 26 Jan 2010 at 10:02 am

    Bacon = goodness. ;-)

My boyfriend peered over my shoulder as I was reading this post, saw the bacon, and begged me to please make “whatever that deliciousness is”

  6. Nicole (dishin')on 26 Jan 2010 at 10:14 am

That bacon is jumping off the screen at me. I need some now!

Bacon is one of the HUGE things I miss with being a vegetarian . . . and your description of the dip is enough to send me RUNNING to the grocery store for ingredients !

  9. Rachelon 26 Jan 2010 at 10:39 am

Hmm, do you think this would taste good with Morningstar’s faux bacon? I don’t particularly love bacon, but I just bought some of their fake-on. What do you eat with this dip? Or do you just eat it like mashed potatoes (which it looks like, haha)?

  10. Kelly B.on 26 Jan 2010 at 10:41 am

Holy cow Jessica…this looks amazing!!! This might be one of my faves that you have posted. I don’t have a huge sweet tooth so I love these savory recipe of the last few days!! :)

  11. BethTon 26 Jan 2010 at 10:42 am

YUM. Like mashed potatoes with bacon, but semi healthier! :)

  12. Jessicaon 26 Jan 2010 at 10:43 am

I’m sure it would, though I have never tried any faux bacon. I served it with crackers and an assortment of breads. :)

Sigh…. And I thought I was going to be able to get away with not going to the grocery before making dinner tonight. Then, somebody had to go and make me change my plans… :P

Ahh What a perfect, hearty dip for super-bowl time of year!! I love that you’re not afraid to use a little bacon in your dishes!
Have you ever experimented with bacon in sweets? I saw a recipe for “french toast cupcakes” made with maple syrup with a cream cheese frosting and crumbled bacon on top.
Email me if you want the recipe!! :-D Great job, as usual!

Great recipe.. Cannelini beans are so creamy as is.. they pair great with some KALE..lol!

    ;)

  27. Jessicaon 26 Jan 2010 at 12:01 pm

    Kale?

What is kale? I’ve blocked all vegetables from my memory.
    :P

I love the addition of paprika to beans. The smokey taste makes things so much better. Rock on with the bacon. Someone’s gotta represent cured meats on the blogs!

  29. Anne @ the doctor takes a wifeon 26 Jan 2010 at 12:12 pm

I am sooo not a bean fan, but maybe these little guys will help tame my hatred of beans…

There’s absolutely nothing wrong with loving bacon. People who say they don’t are just lying!!

  30. Kacyon 26 Jan 2010 at 12:24 pm

I love cannelini beans too. So versatile. I love the smell of bacon, but I don’t really care for the taste. I’ve been forever searching for a bacon-scented air freshener.

  31. Mellissaon 26 Jan 2010 at 12:28 pm

I have a similar recipe from Cooking Light that is awesome. It makes such a great dip!

  32. Lara (Thinspired)on 26 Jan 2010 at 12:38 pm

Ok, this just sounds heavenly. I am on a total hummus kick lately, so this would fit in with that. If only I had a food processor! Bacon addition is genius. I haven’t had bacon in WAY too long.

  33. Jennyon 26 Jan 2010 at 12:49 pm

Maybe I’ll make this for Superbowl Sunday instead of the usual cheese dip and guac! This looks so much healthier (and it’s beautiful, too). Thanks for sharing, Jessica!

  34. Gabrielaon 26 Jan 2010 at 12:54 pm

I love bean dip, so this looks delicious. I’ve never liked bacon, though, even when I ate meat…do you think it would work with fried eggplant rounds instead?

  35. Amandaon 26 Jan 2010 at 12:57 pm

Hey, any posts for your cutie brother coming any time soon? :) I like your blog.

  38. Jessicaon 26 Jan 2010 at 1:20 pm

I’m sure it would! Give it a try! And if it doesn’t just mash it up with a fork or something. :)

I’ll go to bacon rehab with you…I am SO making this!!

First of all…I LOVE the new look of your blog. I’m crazy about it! And dude. You just HAD to post this bacon love fest three days after I go veg? *sigh* This looks amazingly delicious. Like everything else on this site. You are one of the few people i’d follow a recipe from.

  41. Jamie (Food in Real Life)on 26 Jan 2010 at 1:53 pm

That looks amazing! THe picture of the beans is so pretty. What did you dip in there? I’d dip my finger.

  42. Gracie @ Girl Meets Healthon 26 Jan 2010 at 2:05 pm

You won me over simply with the title of this post, haha. The question is, does it have to be used as a dip? Or can I simply eat it with a spoon? ;)

  43. Jolene (www.everydayfoodie.ca)on 26 Jan 2010 at 2:13 pm

You say that is a dip … but I want to dig in to it with a giant spoon and just gobble it all down!! It looks like mashed potatoes!!

I need to try some white beans, I haven’t had those in ages! You are totally write, they are SO good and very creamy!!

What a great looking dip! Cannelini beans are one of my favourites for dips too – so versatile :)

  49. Jacquieon 26 Jan 2010 at 2:48 pm

This would be perfect for the Superbowl- healthy, but bacon does make everything better and seem indulgent.

My favorite however is chocolate dipped bacon… I’m sure you’d love it :)
