How Sweet It Is

Strawberry-Kiwi Smoothie.

Published by Jessica under Sweet Eats

Finally! Check out my RECIPE INDEX. :)

Over a week ago, my husband brought home 3 lbs of kiwi’s.

Needless to say, my kiwi craving has diminished.

The day he brought them home, I was craving a sweet, milkshake-like smoothie. This was before we were pummeled with 24 inches of snow and lived like barbarians with no heat.

Now, I have panic attacks just looking at this smoothie. I don’t need any more ice in my life.

However, it certainly was delicious.

Once we break out of our igloo and my fingers and toes are no longer tingling, it will be the first thing I whip up.

Not only is this smoothie fat-free, it also contains a decent amount of protein. Adding a scoop of protein powder would bump it up even more.

Strawberry-Kiwi Smoothie

1/2 cup skim or almond milk

1/2 cup plain Greek yogurt

1/2 cup chopped strawberries

2 kiwi’s, chopped

1 teaspoon honey

1 teaspoon orange zest

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Add all ingredients to blended and puree until smooth. Garnish with additional strawberries and kiwi.

Until the sun shines, I will be living in my Uggs, which could also pass as Uggsicles.

What is your favorite smoothie? I am a sucker for any shake with a frozen banana.

Have a great day, friends!

Peace out from my igloo.

Stay warm! I love blueberry, banana and peanut butter smoothies :)

  2. Jenn @ Livewellfiton 08 Feb 2010 at 8:23 am

Me and bananas…oh we go way back. :)

Currently I’m obsessed with the following:
    - 1 cup of milk (loving vanilla almond milk right now)
    - 1 banana (frozen- adds to the chill)
    - 1 tbsp of peanut butter
    - 1 scoop of chocolate protein powder (I use the only one I have ever been able to enjoy as sometimes PP can ruin my smoothies)
grab some ice and blend away!

    2nd obsession:
    - 1 cup of almond milk
    - 1/2 cup greek yogurt
    - handful of frozen mango
    - 1 banana frozen
ice and blend! Creamy and delish :)

I love strawberry kiwi smoothies too but I think my favorite would have to be Strawberry, banana, and mango smoothie

I love smoothies and this one looks great! My favorite flavor combinations are strawberry banana and strawberry kiwi! I never thought of adding greek yogurt to smoothies (duh) but I bet that would be a great addition as a thickner!!

That looks like a great smoothie! My favorites always involve a banana, nut butter, and some cocoa powder. Anything else that goes in depends on my mood.

  33. Morgan @ Healthy Happy Placeon 08 Feb 2010 at 4:25 pm

Yum! I’ve been making smoothies a lot lately, too. My favorite is plain banana, but I also enjoy strawberries and blueberries throw in the mix every now and then.

  39. Nicole @ Making Good Choiceson 08 Feb 2010 at 5:39 pm

That smoothie looks so good! I love smoothies with acai berries in them. Oh and chia pudding is good, I need to perfect it because I just kept on pouring in sugar and agave and chocolate until it was really good. I feel like there’s a better way..even though that worked haha. You’ll like it after the initial weirdness.

  40. Jesson 08 Feb 2010 at 5:52 pm

There are some yummy-sounding smoothies on this page!

I make them vegan for me (even though I’m not, I’m just cutting back on animal-derived food), pour mine and then add yogourt and egg whites for my daughter.

My basic one is rice milk, banana, strawberries, blueberries, mango, almond powder and pomegranate juice (the naturopath has me convinced it’s got more vitamin C than OJ!)

I make a big pitcher of smoothie twice a week and leave it in the fridge to get extra fruit in both of us.

  41. Fit Chick in the Cityon 08 Feb 2010 at 6:52 pm

Yum, smoothies! I love love love a good smoothie. Favorite would be:

  43. Anna @ Newlywed, Newly Vegon 08 Feb 2010 at 8:29 pm

    Mmmmm…I love a good banana/peanut butter smoothie. Lol, I guess that’s more of a milkshake though :-)

We’re all snowed in here, too! And they say that more is on the way!!!

  44. Averie (LoveVeggiesAndYoga)on 08 Feb 2010 at 10:33 pm

oh girl that’s my kinda smoothie! sweet, delish, awesome!
if you could pick a fave smoothie, what would it be? i am doing a live food demo and cooking presentation for yoga peers this weekend…some are vegans some are 60 yr old meat and potatoes peeps. I want something to “impress” all walks of life…that’s easy that i can make in front on them to sample. I value your opinion! Do you have a link of any past smoothies you’ve made that you love?

  45. Shannonon 09 Feb 2010 at 5:00 am

Looks delicious! But I agree….I am too cold to crave a smoothie right now. I am living in my Uggs too!

  46. marla {Family Fresh Cooking}on 09 Feb 2010 at 7:17 am

    Beautiful smoothie!!

My favorites: I would go with my Frozen Coffee Granita or Frozen Peppermint Hot Cocoa. Both can have protein added in. They can be made virtually calorie free or more decadent, just depends on how they fit in with my day.

I have been drinking them with the chilly weather and it takes sooooo long to get warm afterwards! Thank goodness for Uggs!

  47. Nicole, RDon 09 Feb 2010 at 7:44 am

Oooh strawberry kiwi sounds delicious! This looks like a milkshake!

I’m a sucker for green monsters. I really think they are the most delicious thing in the world! I also love the Mango Mantra (or Mango A-go-go? Can’t remember the name it’s been a loooong time since i’ve had one) from Jamba Juice!
