Fried Legs and Fried Clams.
I’m just going to stay here for awhile.
Today was another beautiful day.
One of the best parts of it was the peanut butter soft serve I had after our bike ride today. I accidentally deleted the picture, but did upload it to Twitter first, so check it out if you wish.
I talked about it all day.
The men in the house worked hard on consuming the contents of the fridge. . .
. . .and building things.
The rest of the day I resembled this. Help me.
I am burnt to a crisp.
I wore SPF 70.
You would think I had virgin peaches and cream skin or something.
I didn’t mind as we still spent the entire day on the beach. My most favorite thing to do is sit in the surf and read mindless, trashy books that do nothing to further my knowledge or vocabulary..
Even though the temperature has reached 90, I am wearing a sweatshirt.
My skin is a hot mess and feels like fire, yet I’m chilled to the bone.
I swear it is totally worth it. :)
Tonight we drove off into the sunset. . .
. . .and went to our favorite restaurant, The Lobster House.
If you have ever been to Cape May, you probably have been here. If not, you need to be.
Best seafood ever.
For the past 25 years we have sat outside and almost always ordered the same thing – fried clams. They have the best fried clams I’ve ever had, and we have ordered them all over the place for years. No place has ever beat these.
The crab bisque is pretty incredible too.
We also had clams casino (with bacon, of course) and BBQ cheddar clams with BBQ sauce, gooey cheddar and more bacon. I was in heaven.
Behold the beautiful fried clams.
The fries were pretty disgusting but the clams were amazing. I could eat a bathtub full of them.
The clams hold a special place in our heart because Mother Lovett enjoyed them so much. We used to bring them home for my grandpa, and she’d eat the entire box herself, leaving none for him. She was so thoughtful.
See you tomorrow!

i don’t think i’ve ever been in your top 10 comments…shows how crazy eventful the friday night is tonight :) i totally feel you on the burned skin thing…but i’m so glad you’re getting to spend time relaxing by the ocean! lucky girl!
:O Peanut butter soft serve sounds good! I’m sorry about your sunburn, though. Ah well, at least you’re enjoying yourself at the beach. Fried clams sound… not so good to me right now. :( My tummy is not a fan of fried.

Ah, I’m fair skinned and burn SO easily. I feel your pain… especially burning up but also being cold at the same time! Good for you for keeping a smile on your face! Fried seafood… yum! I’ll join you in eating that full bathtub! :-)
you are beautiful even with burnt skin. I’d eat a bathtub full of lobster bisque and another full of clams right along side you. your beach shots are awesome by the way. such a great getaway!
baaah, haa haa… that fridge! :) reminds me of college…
that bisque looks and sounds amazing… and the beach looks nice.
thanks for sharing – it’s still cold here, so I’m reading vicariously…

Awww, sorry you burned!! I got a bit burned on one of our beach days too…I’m always surprised, because I have pretty dark skin to begin with– I rarely burn, so when I do, it makes me so mad!
Looks like you are having a GREAT vacay, regardless. PB softserve is my favorite flavor :-)
I saw the title of this post and was sure I’d see something I love eating too and YESSSS! I’m drooling :D
Ouch sunburn. I used to be able to lay out with no sunscreen and barely get any color, but for some reason this year I’ve turned into a porcelain doll. Weird. Did you try the bread at the Lobster House? It’s my favorite part of going there :)
Girl, you are so beautiful, fried skin and all.
I want that food now!
So glad you’re having fun :)
I’m sorry about your sunburn. The same thing happens to me if I burn….I get the chills and feel like my skin is on fire all at the same time. Take care of that burn and enjoy the beach! It look beautiful there!
I am so jealous of your trip to the beach. Beach & fried seafood just GO together! :D

I am so glad you are having such a great time! Life is just too short, right? Sorry about the burn, but I am guessing the memories you are making are totally worth it!
There are few things better than a tub of friend clams, except maybe fried clams with really tangy tarter sauce.
I want to hop in my car and go up to The Lobster House right now!! Everything looks so delicious!! My favorite part of going to the beach is going out for yummy seafood!! :)
Sounds like you are having a great time!! SPF 70 didn’t work? Yikes! That sun must be bright. But I would guess you probably do burn pretty easily, being blond and all. I hate being burned, I hope it’s feeling better.
I have never tried a clam. I can’t believe that, but I guess I should wait until I visit the East cost again to try one!!
BTW, are you thinking of some great places to tell me about in Pittsburgh?! I need some things to do when I’m there for my training!!
I can not get over how blue that water is! How gorgeous!
I love beach pics so much! That sunset one is gorgeous. Hope that burns cools down for ya quickly!

You are so darn adorable!!! I love how much fun you are having… and wish I was there! Like. Really. I could use a vacation. :)
Blessings!
Oh I’ve been there too! It makes for SUCH a lovely evening.
Oh no!
Your poor face…Hopefully some aloe will help.
Any good trashy book recommendations? I am needing a few.
Looks like you guys are having sooooo much fun! Such a cute couple :) xo
I’m loving your vacation photos. (But sorry you’re burnt to a crisp. Get some aloe and moisturize to minimize peeling!) :)
i need disgusting amounts of tartar sauce w/ my clams & fries. it’s gross, but i love it. salt, grease, tartar sauce, beer= happy me.
Fun post!! I love all the beer in the fridge :-)
I love fried ANYTHING. Seriously. I would try anything battered in dough or the like.
And is that the beginning of a ‘stache I see on Mr. How Sweet??? Or just the lazy beach approach to maintenance? I know how facial hair goes over in your house so for his sake, I hope he’s clean cut this Monday morning.
You are SO PRETTY!!!! Red or not – you are way too cute. And, I love fried seafood too. I think I’m obsessed with everything about your vacation!
