Peanut Butter Banana Bread.
Way back when, I made this delicious banana bread with chocolate chips.
It really is the best banana bread I have ever had.
This time around I made a few changes, along with adding lots of peanut butter.
If there was ever a way to get me to eat banana bread even quicker, this is it.
How is it possible that banana bread only lasts 24 hours in our house?
Especially when Mr. How Sweet doesn’t even like banana bread. He only likes green bananas. I know. He’s weird.
Which leaves only one culprit for eating the banana bread.
But I just couldn’t help it.
I am not exaggerating one bit when I say this will become your go-to, favorite banana bread.
And I think you should try it.
Because then I won’t feel so alone.
Peanut Butter Banana Bread
slightly adapted from Chez Us
1 cup all purpose flour
1/2 cup whole wheat flour
1 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup butter
2 ounces cream cheese
1/2 cup peanut butter
4 large bananas, mashed
1 egg
1/3 cup heavy cream
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup peanut butter chips
Preheat oven to 350.
Cream butter, cream cheese, and peanut butter until smooth. Add brown sugar, egg and vanilla, mixing well for about 2-3 minutes. Mix in bananas and heavy cream until smooth. Add flour, baking soda and baking powder and mix until combined. Fold in peanut butter chips.
Pour batter in a greased loaf pan and bake for 60-70 minutes.
My secret is to just cut really thick slices of banana bread. That way, you don’t really eat as much.
Help.

ahhh I just used up my pb & choc chip package..that would be perfect in this! on a big pb kick lately and i ALWAYS have bananas in my freezer. can’t wait to make this!
have a good weekend!
Ooh… I always toast up my banana bread and slather it with peanut butter. So, I’m sure I’d love your version. It looks great!
I have never toasted banana bread! I have a feeling I need to do this.
try it toasted with a thin layer of cream cheese on top.. sounds weird, but is delicious
Do you wrap it overnight like you would a traditional banana bread? I can’t wait to make this!
Wrap it overnight? Not sure about that, but I just wrap mine in plastic wrap and foil once it has cooled!
My mom always wrapped it up overnight and it was even better the next day! (I do have to admit though, when I make it, only about 1/2 makes it until the next day…) :-)
What’s the deal with people who like green bananas?! Nick does too. He prefers that I only buy the green ones at the store. GROSS! I’m not a fan. But I am a fan of banana bread + peanut butter. Thanks for the recipe!
Never heard of a banana bread recipe with peanut butter, but it sounds delicious! http://windowontheprairie.com/ Suzanne
Hahahahaha, you make me laugh! ;) I love the way you think… I couldn’t agree more about cutting thick slices… you definitely eat less that way!! ;) This bread looks lovely!! :)
Have a great weekend!!!!! :)
Oh yes, this is happening in my near future.
Ps… Green bananas are my fave too. Something about that bit-o-chalky texture is what keeps me coming back for more.
Thanks for sharing!
I LOVE the peanut butter banana combination, so I think I would be a huge fan of this! And I’m always looking for something to do with too ripe bananas!
Hi! Just came across your blog. LOVE it. I love desserts and yours look divine. I can’t wait to try that peanut butter/banana bread!

I never would have imagined putting peanut butter in banana bread but IT LOOKS DELICIOUS!

Im stuffed from breakfast but now craving pb&banana bread! You always make my mouth water with your recipes.
As I read the ingredients to this recipe, I literally said, ooohhh, ahhh… Yum. I never thought of cream cheese in banana bread, but with the peanut butter, I bet it makes it extra moist. Will try!
PB Banana bread?! I’ve never even thought of this. Sounds like perfection!
I love banana bread, but have never added peanut butter before – definitely must try this! And I’m with you on cutting thicker slices…that has to mean you don’t really eat as much! :)

OMG. I want to make this ASAP!
However I might eat it, die and go to heaven! I think the chocolate chips will make it uh-mazing!
My idea of heaven: a pb and banana sandwich in one baked good. Amazing! Just drizzle some honey over it and I’m good to go :)
Have you ever tried White Chocolate Wonderful Peanut Butter? I think I am going to make this bread with that- yum!! Your recipes are always amazing- thanks : )

Peanut Butter Banana Bread sounds amazing! I gotta try that variation soon… I add cocoa powder and semi-sweet chocolate chips to my banana bread. My husband gobbles it up before 48 hours have even passed. We call it my “Banana Bread Brownie”. It’s great, because it one of those foods that’s perfectly acceptable to have for breakfast, snack or dessert!!!
I made this over the weekend…it was SO good. It was a great blend of banana, chocolate and peanut butter! Thanks for the recipe!
Glad you enjoyed!
I think I have all of these ingredients at home right now – may make this tonight :)
I only like green bananas too — preferably cold. but i’m also all for banana bread. and um, peanut butter banana bread looks totally yum.
I can’t cook, bake, or do anything right in the kitchen but I was literally drooling over this bread after reading about and seeing the pictures. I heart PB and Bananas like no other. I really wanted to make it but knew that I would mess it up so I bought the groceries for a friend and paid her 25 dollars to make me a loaf. It was worth every penny….absolutely delicious. I ate more than half of it and shared the rest with my work. Obviously it is not the healthiest but I swear that it was very filling. (it must be all that amazing peanut butter) I just wanted to say “thank you, thank you, thank you” from the top to the bottom of my stomach. :)

I made this today and I must have done something wrong… it is taking way way longer to cook.. it’s still very mushy and not done. It smells delish. This might call for a do-over! Although, I baked 2 other banana bread recipes today and they both turned out fine..not sure what the problem was with this one! Yes, I think I will try this again sometime and figure out what I did wrong! Any tips?
I honestly am not sure – this recipe is not my original (as noted above) and I’ve never had a problem with it. Did you follow it exactly?
i found this recipe while fighting cabin fever and not wanting to wasted 4 very ripe bananas. so glad i did! i didn’t have pnut butter chips so i used choc chips. i also made these as muffins instead of a full loaf. this made 24 muffins and they lasted us for 4 days snowed inside. thanks for the recipe. i will def make these again!!!
Great to hear. ;)

It’s about two in the morning and I am currently licking the leftover batter from this recipe. If the bread is half as good as the batter, it will be amazing!
Just discovered this recipe!! I need to run to the grocery store after work to buy bananas so I can make it in a couple days. I spend so much time on your blog now-makes the work day go by quickly. Thanks Jessica!!!!
I made this last night. It is absolutely delicious and perfect texture. Thank you for this recipe :)
Just stumbled upon your blog and I LOVE IT! I have already planned on making 2 -3 recipes. Love your sense of humor too, I will be back. Thanks so much for sharing!
This is THE best bread recipe I have come across, nothing tops it! Moist, rich, delicious….I’ve made it over 10x. The only thing to be leary of is cooking time in comparison to loaf pan size. Enjoy :)

Just made this – so good! The only thing is I realized AFTER it came out and I was tasting it I hadn’t added salt…checking recipe and the instructions don’t have the adding salt step, though I know it’s listed in the ingredients. My bad, but FYI :)
