These Are A Few Of My Favorite Things.
I’ve alluded to it in the past, but I have quite an obsession with makeup and beauty products. I’ve been fascinated with it ever since I was young, when most of my time was spent with my head buried inside Seventeen magazine. I am a firm believer in wearing a little bit of makeup, especially with a pop of color. However, I’m sure there were many times my parents were embarrassed to be seen with me and that I looked like a clown.
I’m afraid to even show you my entire collection for fear of you never returning. Maybe sometime soon. Baby steps…
These are just a few of my favorites.
I love everything MAC. I mean… everything. Â But these are my 3 favorite eye colors at the moment. That would be contrast, hepcat and talent pool. I remember a few girls making fun of me in high school for wearing purple eyeshadow. That wasn’t very nice.
This is the moisturizer I use everyday after washing my face. Love it – it is not greasy at all. I hate when things feel “heavy” on my face, so much so that I don’t even wear any kind of foundation.
Mascara would be my go-to beauty product – I usually don’t leave the house without it. Zoom lash is my current favorite – I’ve been using it for about 2.5 years. Which means they will probably discontinue it soon.
While we’re on the topic of mascara, here is another product I adore.
I absolutely love single false lashes. They look incredible when applied correctly. For the last 6 years, I’ve used 3-4 on the end of each lash, then build up the lashes on the inside with mascara. The only thing I don’t recommend is wearing these if you plan on swimming (duh), exercising or drinking so much that you don’t know who you are. That may have happened to me once… and some of you have even witnessed it.
I bring a new meaning to the word pale. And not in that creamy, peaches-and-cream skin kind of way. More like that really translucent, I-can-see-your-blood-vessels kind of way. This is the only bronzer that doesn’t turn me orange. I don’t use it everyday, so one compact lasts me about a year.
I have no idea if this really helps me, but it is nice and not greasy. It makes me feel better about the impending doom that will one day set itself upon my under eyes.
This skin regenerating serum makes your face feel like silk. Smooth as a baby’s bottom, I tell ya. And it lasts forever. It’s pricey, but a little bit goes a long way.
I really have nothing to say here except that I am obsessed with lip gloss.
Now tell me… what are your go-to beauty products? I’m always up for wasting money on as many products as I can trying new things

Okay – so here are my favorites.. I shop at Sephora.. there is a girl named Susan at the SHV Mall, she’s amazing.
1. Make up Forever – High Definition Foundation. I have naturally rosey cheeks and this completely covers it. I’m not going to lie, My face looks flawless. I’m also a face toucher and it doesn’t come off. I greatly enjoy.
2. Too Faced – Chocolate Soleil Matte Bronzing. As the name states, it actually SMELLS like chocolate.. it’s made from real cocoa. If nothing else, go smell it. Again – lasts all day. LOVE IT.
3. Smash Box – Eye Shadows. Face toucher/eye rubber here. Doesn’t cause an issue. My eyes look sooooooo soo sexy with these.
4. Sephora Eye Liners – shockingly, these have been my favorite. They don’t smear.. my eyes water, not an issue… Lasts all day, beautiful colors. they sharpen really really nice.
Those are a few of my favorite things…
Also – as for the Bare Essentials.. I used to be one of those girls, but my skin changed… and actually the make up artists I’ve talked to said that there is actually only a select skin type that can pull off wearing bare essentials.. so if it doesn’t work – it might be because of your skin type… I still use the eye shadow on occassion. Just not the foundation.
I’m addicted to lip gloss, I think that MAC does have the most incredible eyeshadows in the world (so easy to blend), but I am a huge fan of Mary Kay’s ultimate mascara and eye makeup remover and mineral powder foundation…so much better than anything else I’ve found on the market. I wish I knew more about how to wear colors, but most of my experimentation leaves me looking like I’m dressed up for Halloween. As a result, the daily routine is powder, blush, mascara, lip gloss…I keep it simple.
LIP GLOSS. I feel naked without it. I also have super dry skin, for which I’ve tried every product under the sun. I now use vitamin E oil and don’t think I’ll ever use anything else again. It’s inexpensive and at little moisturizes large areas of skin. It’s my lifesaver :-)
i read/creep your blog on the regular, so how did i miss this post? i feel inadequate. regardless: i am also a graphically-obsessed MAC fan(how’d you feel about that line of disney villains, btw?). lipglass makes my heart sing! i occasionally peer out of my russian red cocoon, though, and i *really* like nars products-their chubby matte lip pencils are amazing…almost other-worldly. this is kind of strange, but i think rimmel mascara, the kind you can get at cvs, goes on really nice and has staying power. mmmmm. make up.
I own about half a million different types of lipgloss and chapstick. Just about half a dozen different brands and my current favorite is a C.O. Bigelow lemon lip balm (I’m an addict for lemon anything).
The other thing I can’t live without is my Urban Decay eyeshadow primer. It is amazing.
Yay MAC!!!! When I’m not looking at food porn, I mean blogs, I can be found at the MAC counter. Girls used to make fun of me in junior high for my pink and purple eyeshadow all the time when they were all wearing brown. I didn’t care one bit. :)
I know this is an old post, but do you still like and use the neutrogena sunblock? I’m looking for a new one that doesn’t feel heavy. thanks!
Ha! Bonnie I probably haven’t used that sunblock since I wrote the post! Unfortunately it totally went by the wayside… here is what I’m using on my face now: http://www.howsweeteats.com/2012/09/makeup-stuff-im-totally-obsessed-with-right-now/
Thanks! Do you still like the eyeshadows, or do you have new faves? Headed to the MAC store today :)
Yep, still love those ones! They are definitely some of my faves.
Lip gloss is usually used as a cosmetic, however some offer moisturizing benefits or protection from the elements and other natural causes. Lip gloss containing sunscreen was first advertised by actress Lillian Gish.^;;^
