My Current Favorite Power Snacks.
We all know I get bored easily.
Really bored.
So when a snack stays with me for more than a month, it’s huge. These are my fast and easy staples, what I’m loving right now.
A mix of almonds and pecans with dried cherries and cranberries. Sometimes I add some chocolate chips. It is my weak attempt at recreating American Spoon’s cherry-berry mix. After eating this, I feel instantly energized. This concoction got me through many crazy days in December.
Next up: this dense 9 grain bread. Two slices toasted, one topped with hummus, one topped with smashed avocado.
I always have the hummus, and depending on if I feel like blowing $5 on a disappointment of an avocado, I’ll top my second slice with some of it smashed. Sometimes I have it as breakfast. Sometimes it’s a snack. Sometimes I add egg whites. Actually, this was the vehicle for the egg yesterday. RIP egg.
Since I’m so finicky, I’m sure I’ll have some new snacks to share with you next month. What is your favorite power snack as of late?

Wow that looks good, I never would have paired the 2…thx for the idea!
I feel like I can never go wrong with an apple and crunchy peanut butter! I’m loving the idea of avocado and egg… that might be going on my breakfast menu this weekend!
I love apple and peanut butter too.
I love bowel of miso soup. For a snack I just boil some water, put some udon noodles in a bowel, a chopped spring onion and tsp of miso paste. Sometimes I will add some nori, if I have it. Easy and very comforting in the winter. Even a warm cup of water and miso on its own is enough to recharge me.
oops I mean bowl haha… I did that yesterday on your comments too!! Oh boy…
LOL!
both power snacks look lovely! and very healthy too :-) Gotta love that!
I’m loving plain Greek yogurt with Nature’s Path Ancient Grains granola. Maybe a banana if I’m feeling randy.
cottage cheese with pears has been a fav for me since I was a kid… and like kacy i’m a big banana fan! add some nutella or pb to that banana and we are ready to go!
give me that hummus + avo sandwich! I bet that would be great with eggs. Hmm…that may be my new bfast or lunch next week.

fave power snack? super strong coffee with extra sugar. Just keepin’ it real :)
TGIF baby!
Love the avocado on the toast! My fave power snack is a either a lara bar or a dried fruit/nut mix…easiest to transport! haha
what kind of bread is that? of course i’d go for the carb-laden snack first…
Its from a local company in pittsburgh called Breadworks.
Breadworks is one of my favorite things about going to my hubby’s grandparent’s house!
Something I’ve found that’s awesome lately is ‘faux deviled eggs’ – use boiled egg whites and fill them with a TBSP of hummus – my favorite is Sabra supremely spicy!
That sounds like yum-yum in my tum-tum.
I must try asap.
Unfortunately, everything that has no “power” or substance, which is probably why I’m always starving, like I am right now.
So, I’ll be counting on your (and your commenter’s) suggestions!
where do you get that nummy bread?
I’m really diggin’ protein shakes and spoonfuls of Peanut Butter & Co.’s Crunch Time Peanut butter….with a few mini choco chips on top!

Stoneyfield Farms Organic Cream Top Vanilla with dried cranberries and walnuts. It is heavenly!
I love the cream tops too!

I am so boring…I like crisp apples and popcorn with nothing on it. I know, hold your excitement!

Yum love the idea of the avocado and hummus on bread together! Lately I have been eating a ton of greek yogurt and fruit snacks… sometimes I’ll add a vitatop to that mix.
Great snacks!
I love carrots and salsa.
And apricots and almonds.
Or carrots and apples sprinkled with pumpkin pie spice and salt!
I’m weird.
I know not everyone likes them but I am in love with protein oats. They hold me for hours!
marys crackers and hummus… Or as of late red pepper feta dip. MMM mmmmm
I like those cocoa-roasted almonds!!!! sooo tasty!
Love those too!
I love the idea of toast and avocado…yum! My favorite snacks: crackers and hummus, apples, grapes, laughing cow cheese and crackers, and almonds!
My current go to snack = toast with a slice of cheese and an over easy egg on top. Some may say… ‘isn’t that breakfast’ ?! Why yes, yes it is ;)
It’s delicious!
Peanut butter filled pretzels.
Goes together like peas and carrots.
Oh wait, I hate peas.
It goes together like peanut butter and pretzels.
Love those!
Egg and hummus on whole wheat muffin or tortilla. Coffee. Any type of vodka martini…
Hahahah!
Pomegranates- yum!
Oooooh, that hunnus & avacado on toast looks good! I’ll have to try that! My favorite snack right now is Greek yogurt with a dallop of Crofter’s Blueberry and some granola.
I like to have a mix of nuts and dried fruit for power snacks too! Sometimes I make my own, and sometimes I just buy the bag of assorted dried fruit/nuts from costco.
Love hummus!! The power snacks looks delicious :)
That bread makes my mouth water
My favorite snack is any type of healthy trail mix.
I, too, change my snacks ridiculously often! At the moment, my favourite is kaya mixed with peanut butter and spread on toast, sometimes pumpernickel bread if I’m feeling crazy :P
next time you do the hummus on bread? put some chopped spicy pecans and/or salty sunflower seeds. I’m telling you…killer. and I get bored easily too, like you didn’t know that.
Sold!
Variety is the spice of life, right? Nothing wrong with switching up the snacks.
All of these look yummy. I love the nut combo and am a big avocado fan…as well as a hummus fan. Both of those breads would be awesome topped with some tomatoes macerated in salt and pepper, but I don’t think you roll that way :P
Maybe if I add lots of cheese. :)
I love eating nuts&dried fruits! Or I’m a larabar kind of girl!
I’m loving my handfuls of dried figs and almonds. :-) Yummy.
Figs are one of my all time favorite snacks!
One of my favorites that sticks with me for so long is seedy toast (Daves Killer Bread – the best!) with PB and sliced bananas.
But hummus and avocado are right up there with delicious snacks too!
Jesse
Glad to see how much you like cherry berry mix
I have been having this thing for avocado on bread, but I haven’t tried it on toast! You are so inspiring!!!
Nuts and friut are my go to snack. :)
I am love Blue Diamond vanilla almonds and dried cranberries mixed together. Simple and satisfying!
Or a wedge of Laughing Cow cheese on top of a Wasa thin crisp cracker!
Those toast with hummus and avocado look drool worthy
Those both look good – and something I would eat! I love TankaBars and I also have been enjoying liverwurst on fresh bread with mustard.
