Caramelized Honey Dijon Chicken.
Wanna hear something weird? I love mustard. Really love mustard.
I love it so much that I just showed you a bowl full of mustard. The things we do for love…
And I know I’ve kind of worn out chicken’s welcome this week. I don’t know what got in to me.
With Mr. How Sweet still recuperating, I think I was trying to cheer him up with multiple chicken dishes. Because honestly, he has driven me insane the last 14 days from his prison on the couch. In a loving way… of course.
Thank goodness he is back up and running.
Do you know the secret to perfectly golden chicken? You just need to make sure it is dry! It’s that easy. It’s so simple that I’m practically embarrassed to share.
You can really do anything you want with this too. Serve it with mashed potatoes, put it on skewers, eat it with your hands like Mr. How Sweet. Or throw it in a wrap like I did. Because everything is better in a wrap. Especially when cheese is involved.

Caramelized Honey Dijon Chicken
makes 4 chicken breasts
4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
2 tablespoons olive oil
1/4 cup honey
1/4 cup dijon mustard
1-2 tablespoons spicy mustard (I used Trader Joe’s Sweet + Hot)
salt & pepper
Heat a skillet on medium high heat and add olive oil. Pat chicken dry with a paper towel so it is very, very dry. Season with salt and pepper generously. Add chicken to skillet and brown on both sides, about 6-8 minutes each, depending on the thickness.
In a bowl, combine honey and both mustards. Whisk well.
Remove chicken and while it is still hot, brush on mustard. Â Serve!

Now that I’ve provided you with a plethora of dinner recipes in the last 7 days, get ready for a week full of bacon and chocolate only. I think. Maybe? I didn’t think about that until I just wrote it out. I wonder if I could do it? Obviously. Like I even need to question that. I might. We’ll see. But maybe not.
I’ll stop now. It was nice having this chat.

You just sealed the deal on our relationship with that whole mustard confession. The whole “caramelized honey dijon” thing might have done the trick, too ;)
Sweet!
My roommate and I LOVE mustard.. We are obsessed with it. Well, maybe that’s somewhat strong, but we do think it is DELICIOUS. That chicken wrap looks so good. And i like how you put your recipe in a little box!
Thanks!
My kids love honey mustard, looks like a healthy quick meal!
I’m a mustard lover too. I have chicken we need to use up from the freezer. Pretty sure you just gave me our next way of eating it.
I’ve finally found my condiment soul mate! :P I love mustard so much that no one will ever let me put the condiments on their burgers/sandwiches! My selfish mustard crazy self will slather it with mustard and all i hear is “WHO made this burger?!” your recipes have such few ingredients I love them.
Hahahah! Sounds like me.
Ingredients I always have on-hand. I like it! :)
It’s funny that you say chicken has outstayed its welcome, because I love your chicken dishes! They are always the perfect combination of simple and genius. I won’t complain if you post more. :)
No worries. I’m sure I’ll back out and post more next week.

Mmm thank you for this recipe. I made it in a wrap last night and I loved the sauce, esepcially as it covered the rest of the ingredients wrapped up inside.
I LOVE MUSTARD! Glad you do, too! Go Mustard-Girl!
I made this for dinner a few weeks ago but I BBQed the chicken. Definitely the best wraps I’ve ever had! I loved that it made enough for lunch the next day too. I’m going to keep making this one for a long time.
I thought I owned every mustard until, when dining at one of the nicer restaurants in town, we had a honey creole salmon that was scrumptious!
My husband is friends with the owner/chef and that’s when he told me it was glazes with honey and CREOLE mustard, then seared.
So you can cook with it on and it gives this crispy coating that also reduces the mustard bite enough for people like my hubby. Of course now I use that mustard all the time…on salads, as a dip, etc.
Great photos/recipe-yum! Dry all meat for golden crisp, beef, salmon. Man, I’m getting hungry!

I just found this recipe on Pinterest and tried it tonight. It was so delicious! The honey mustard was sooooo good and I think I might use this recipe for salad dressing too. And thank you so much for telling how to get a perfect golden chicken. I seriously never knew to pat it dry! It worked like magic!
I found this on Pinterest! Super yummy! We grilled our chicken and when it was about done spread it all over it! Thanks!
I LOVE mustard… I even dip my fries in mustard.

May I ask what kind of pan you cook it in? I’m thinking maybe castiron??? We always put olive oil on everything so it doesn’t stick to the pan…..I’m anxious to try your method. Sounds great.
PS…….I notice the recipe says “heat a skillet”…..the picture looks like it’s on a cookie sheet…..was that put in the oven?
oh. my. goodness! just finished this dinner! SOOO good!! thanks for this recipe!
Lexy, I noticed that too…the picture definitely shows the chicken in a cookie sheet that looks recently used even though the recipe says to cook on the stovetop.
IMHO, I would maybe brown on the stovetop, place the chicken on the cookie sheet, coat with the honey mustard and bake until done.

I tried to make this sauce/glaze today but it didn’t come out well. I’ve realised why, because my ingredients aren’t right. Basically when I read hot mustard I assumed you meant a traditional English Mustard (which is blisteringly hot). But now that I look at “Trader Joe’s Sweet + Hot Mustard” I can see its far from English mustard.
My problem is I can’t get that brand here in the UK. Can someone tell me exactly what Trader Joe’s Sweet + Hot Mustard is so I can try to find something similar here?
Thanks
