I think we all know how I feel about coffee.
It tastes like dirty water. So does tea. It tastes like grass and dirty water. Yuck.
I get an occasional latte from Starbucks that is loaded with cream and sugar and syrup and everything deliciously delicious. I may have it two or three times a year – coupled with the fact that I’m not a fan of hot beverages and that caffeine makes me batty, I mostly stay away. It’s easy when you don’t like that taste. Oh! I can also see myself getting wildly addicted to it. I’d rather eat my calories than drink them. And my “pick me up” has been working out first thing in the morning for over 10 years. I’m keeping it that way.
But I want to like coffee. Waaaah! I wish I was cool enough to like it. I want to sit in a coffee shop and read a book and drink coffee. I want to pretend like I know and care what an Americano is. Is that something? I think I’ve heard of it. Maybe I just made that up.
Anyway, over a year ago I bought a french press. I tried every chocolate, tiramisu, coconut, and almond flavor of coffee under the sun. It was okay. Without a pound of sugar and a gallon of milk, it tasted like garbage. Hot, disgusting garbage.
Then one day, my french press broke!
I was sad. And since the only thing I really excel at is wasting money, I went out and bought another one.
But it’s a mini one. Actually, I got it on sale at Sur La Table for like… $5.99. Or something. I don’t remember.
Then I found this at Target.
I can never pass up a pretty package. Especially when it’s pink.
I decided today was the day.
I poured in the water.
I let it sit.
I figured it would be the perfect day to use my milk frother that Ashley got me.
She’s the best!
After four minutes, I poured the coffee over the froth.

Ashley also got me that mug. She is cool.
Mmmm… it smelled like strawberries!
Imagine that.
Then, since I’m five years old, I did something else.
And it was perfect.
The end.

I’m Jessica and this is where I share my stuff. You will find a balance of healthy recipes, comfort food and indulgent desserts.
I love this. I’m bad at spending money too, because now I have to run out and buy strawberry shortcake coffee, a milk frother, and sprinkles!

I have never seen or heard of strawberry flavored coffee!
You and your sprinkles…I feel about sprinkles like you feel about coffee. And spinach.

Beautiful! I feel sad for you, I get so much taste bud dancing enjoyment from a well made cup of coffee! I totally understand trying to resist the calorie-gulp though. THAT IS MY FAVORITE MUG FROM IKEA!!! And it looks great with sprinkles :-)

I wish I loved it! Trust me!

Okay this is the second time I’ve seen that coffee on blogs and now I want it! We don’t have DD around my neck of the woods, so perhaps Target will show me some love!

You (and your French press) are adorable!

Only you would find strawberry shortcake flavoured coffee and top it off with sprinkles!! I love the bright blue Bodum press you got – very cute!

Isn’t it a fun color? I have to like coffee now because I want to use it!

Y.U.M. I have to try that coffee. Especially with the sprinkles and froth!

I don’t even like coffee, but I like anything with sprinkles…so that looks amazing! And who knew that thing was a milk frother? My husband uses it to mix protein shakes, and I hate to admit that I do the same thing. :)

I haven’t seen that coffee flavor before but it sounds delish! I love that you topped it with sprinkles! Haha!
Reply
I adore that coffee! I’ve already plowed through one bag and had to buy a back-up. The packaging sucked me in like a vacuum. The sprinkles are the perfect touch!
Reply
I’m not into fruity coffee, though I can’t really drink it either, it doesn’t agree with me. But, the sprinkles and whipped cream sure make it fun.

hahahaha that coffee sounds awesome!!!
Sprinkles make it better for sure! =D

Stop making me want every single thing you make! But really, don’t. ha

Awwww, hehehe…yay!! I should have gotten one of those mugs for myself..and I reallllly want that French press!!! I can’t believe you just sort-of-but-not-really like coffee and have had 2 presses, while I have none. haha Love that color!!

p.s. miss you love you

I’ve never seen strawberry shortcake coffee. I bet it was great!

I’m so glad you finally had a good coffee experience! Do you usually drink it with something? I find that coffee goes really well with something super-sweet (i.e. pancakes) because the flavors balance out…
And also, coffee goes well with greasy things (i.e. bacon!).

I will have to try that next time.

Isn’t that Strawberry Shortcake coffee the best?? I love it too!

You are hilariously awesome. This post just made my day.

the best way to have coffee? as an addition to triple chocolate cake balls.

It took me a while to “learn” how to like coffee! My parents both drink it by the gallon, so I assumed I would like it right off the bat– but nope! After a few years of trying it, though, I’m ADDICTED!
Strawberry Shortcake coffee?? That sounds delish!!

seriously.. i can not stand plain coffee… BUT.. it is AMAZING with a huge scoop of icecream:) also, if you haven’t, you should really try chai tea.. it is delicious, and chocolate chai is really ridiculously good too.lol

I also HATE coffee but may be willing to consider something like that. Pink and pretty and smells like strawberries, I can roll with that.

So glad to see that you clarified that that tool is for frothing milk. We use it like a whisk! Guess not. Nice deal on that press!

Sprinkles in coffee.
Genius.
That so would have made this Monday like Tuesday start off on a much better foot.
Strawberry coffee, interesting.
Of course, my favorite tea tastes EXACTLY like cinnamon red hots. ;) I like to drink candy mid day.

I love this story. I was the same way about coffee. I wanted to like it…and now I do! It’s wonderful!
Reply
I love my french press! I bought it to make coffee on our camping trip last year and when we came home… I couldn’t drink the stuff from the regular machine ?! I hear that the Dunkin’ D’s flavored coffee’s are out of this world good.
Reply
No coffee or tea and you’re STILL that productive in the kitchen?! Wonder woman is what you are!

I have got to try this coffee! I love the addition of the sprinkles!

Seriously don’t fight it. I wish I didn’t like coffee. It will overtake you!
Reply
You are so cute! I love fruity flavored coffee and people think that’s weird but I’d take strawberry over dark roast any day :)
Reply
I saw this on another blog and thought it sounded bizarre, but now I’m intrigued. May just have to try it out!

Oh, you are magnificent. French press coffee is the best, in my opinion, although the only flavours I can find here are caramel and Irish Cream (I like the latter).
And heavens, how I miss Starbucks Frappuccinos! CRY!
Reply
Dunkin Donuts make the best coffee. I love their French vanilla flavor. I buy tons of bags whenever they are on sale at Target….which has been a lot lately. I have a lot of bags of coffee.
Reply
I totally need to look for that coffee for hubs – his eyes about bugged out when I read the package to him lol.
Reply
I only drink coffee for the taste, never as a pick me up. I love my keurig coffee machine, works wonders. You know I’ll be looking for the strawberry shortcake flavor! Love the sprinkles too!
Reply
Jessica — February 23rd, 2011 @ 3:10 am
I want a keurig too. Even though I don’t like coffee.

Holy crap! Strawberry shortcake coffee?!!? With sprinkles. Oh if only there was a Target close by. Oh. Wait there is one. Just right across the street, guess I’m off to buy some coffee.
Reply
I don’t like coffee either, but this sounds like it just might work for me! Love the sprinkle topping. It’s so you. :)
Reply
I am loving your cake batter rice krispies, but you don’t like coffee??? You put cream and sugar in your coffee? You drink flavored coffee? Yeah, I’m not so sure that we can be friends after all! Well, I guess we DO have sprinkles in common. I think that’s enough. ;)
Reply
Jessica — February 23rd, 2011 @ 3:08 am
It has to be enough!

I had to laugh at this…..I just wrote a post about how I rode down a mountain on a bike with no brakes for a good cup of coffe. I love the little press, I need one in green!
Reply
Jessica — February 23rd, 2011 @ 3:08 am
Yeah… I definitely wouldn’t do that. Maybe for bacon!

D: I love coffee (w/ sugar & milk..) and tea
They have more “fruity” tea that is a bit more subtle and more fragrant. Try mightyleaftea. It’s my favorite :D
And Americano is just espresso and water..low on cals but I’m with you..where’s the sugar?

That little french press is so dang cute. And I hate flavored coffee – but I can totally get behind the sprinkles. :-)
Reply
way to go Jessica!!!!! looks like you are well on your way to a drinking a pot of black coffee a day lol. :)

I’ll be honest I LOVE coffee but it’s definitely an acquired taste. My friend actually got a package of Neiman Marcus “holiday” coffee for half-price in January and it is absolutely divine. It has a hazelnut, warm spice flavor and the smell is incredible. You might like it if you ever got the chance to try it.

Love the french press! Very cute.
I have a vanilla biscotti coffee from Folgers Gourmet and it makes my kitchen smell like a cookie. It’s great. :-)

Is that an aerolatte? Best. Invention. Ever.
You are totally going to drink coffee more now. I’m calling it. And that’s not the six cups I had earlier today talking. I could drink a whole pot and pass out. Coffee to you is like bacon to me. Twice a year is PLENTY.

I tried to comment on this post earlier today, couldnt get in.
I am so happy you are coming over to the dark side. With coffee! And a french press, and a frother. You’re taking it seriously! love it :)
