Monday TJ’s.
I have a little Trader Joe’s problem. Let’s just call it an obsession.
I took a little poll on Twitter and Facebook asking if you’d still like to see my Trader Joe’s grocery runs, and the answer was a resounding “yes.” I assume this is because the rest of my life is such a complete snoozefest. It is true that going to Trader Joe’s is about as exciting as it gets here.
Since I only go about once a month, I loaded up as usual. That guy I live with is constantly moaning that we “have no food” or we “don’t have anything for dinner” or we “have a packed fridge but nothing to eat.” If he says that at all this week, he is absolutely out of his mind.
These are Mr. How Sweet’s breakfast staples.
The pitas are for me. And me only.
I don’t know how these got in my cart.
Someone must have dropped them in there by accident without me noticing…
Snacks.
My favorite on-the-go snack.
Mr. How Sweet’s snacks.
Yes. I said snacks. This is what he eats as a snack.
So excited to find the new Fage flavors!
I’ve been eating Fage since my fitness competing days and looooove it. It is my favorite brand of Greek yogurt.
Boring fruit.
Baking necessities.
A chicken I’m going to roast.
Some canned goods, because the thought of making my own sauce puts me into hysterics.
Ugly vegetables.
Except the herbs. I like herbs. Herbs are my friends.
More snackity snacks.
Cheese obsessed much?
This hummus still reigns supreme over the ones I got last time.
Exciting stuff for lunches.
I don’t know how these ended up in my cart either.
Or why they are open.
Same with these.
Let’s just say I succumb to peer pressure. Often.
Meat.
And some grape tomatoes.
I have big plans for these tomatoes that include a boatload of sea salt and some syrupy balsamic.
I also got some of these Trader Joe’s O’s.
I highly advise against going to Trader Joe’s when hungry. I impulsively bought a can of these O’s, and immediately came home and had a small bowl of them with some kale chips. For only 99 cents, it was delicious… but this is coming from someone who has never eaten Chef Boyardee.
I got a few other random (but boring) items and even managed to forget some. As usual. Not only do I act like a granny, but I have the somewhat senile mind of one too. Have a great Monday!

I need some of those peanut butter filled pretzels stat.
Ohh – I’ll have to look for that salmon the next time I go.
Truth! That salmon looks so luscious, little lemon, ooh, yum….
I LOVE when Jellybeans jump into my grocery cart!!!
Haha, I went to Trader Joe’s today after work too!
So I was thinking… since I don’t have a Trader Joe’s within a 50 mile radius of myself, how about you just send me pictures of your TJ’s purchases and I can vicariously live through you.
And if I cry it doesn’t mean I’m not happy with what you bought, I’m fine… really…
jessica, stumbled upon this. THIS happens in a restaurant in Boston:
Chocolate Bacon Panini
peanut butter fluff, fresh banana, smoked oreo ice cream

I love these posts. I too am a Trader Joe’s junkie! I love it!
Yum, Trader Joe’s is awesome!
I see you go through lots of paper bags – you should consider using some reusable bags to be more environmentally friendly! ;)
Well, at least we now know why you didn’t attend Baconfest 2011 in Chicago this past weekend…no money left after the T.J. run.
I have TJ obsession x 2 – TJ Maxx and Trader Joes.
I’m going to have to make a run to TJs so a few of those things can accidentally fall into my cart, too. Fun!
This makes me want to go to the grocery store. Which I was going to do today, but now I want to find a Trader Jo’s!! :)
Yep, I love all these things. A fav. in our house and is often requested is the Mand. Orange Chicken. That was a great price on that whole chicken. We love those Jelly Beans….happy they have them in a bag this year. Those Brussel Sprouts are my husband’s fav. thing. PB filled pretzels…what is not to like about those? The choc. covered ones are the bomb…they make a great gift. Have you tried TJ’s Non-fat Vanilla Greek Yogurt? I love that one with fresh fruit and toasted almond slices. First thing on my list for my next shopping trip are those Malted Milk Eggs…yum!!
I just saw the yogurt with the almonds! Need to get that next time.
Saute the brussels with onions (caramelized) and some pancetta (might help your love of bacon). Then it is pancetta greased veggies and you will love it!
That’s the only way I eat brussels! Love them. They are the one veggie I love.
This was AWESOME!!! :D I love your blog!!! :D
What are the prices like at TJ? They just announced that they building one in our town. I’m pretty excited.
They are EXCELLENT!! That’s half the reason I go Produce is wonderful and the prices are cheap – at least a lot cheaper than my regular grocery store (Giant Eagle) and Target.
YAY!! Now I am even more excited but they haven’t even started to build yet! Hopefully they get on that quickly.
I love TJ’s..but my absolute FAVORITE item they have are their roasted plantain chips! they are my obsession and I had to limit myself to buying no more than 3 bags at a time. They are in the chip isle, in a small purpleish bag, you must try them!!!
I have a TJ’s a few blocks from my house, and I am there at least once a week. Oh my, it’s almost as if the money I spend there isn’t real money. Fresh flowers are on my table at all times, for such a great price, and help me survive long winters. This winter we went a little crazy with the Pear Tart (from the frozen section), vanilla bean ice cream, and their salted Caramel Sauce. groan. My 13 year old adores their Mango Lemonade and mozzarella string cheese. I panic when they are out of the peeled garlic cloves, or the Persian cucumbers!
My sister loves Trader Joes too, but she lives four hours away so I always have to do a big delivery when I go home. We have decided you are our long lost sister….love your blog!
THanks so much!!
Luv your Trader Joe’s grocery run! Would luv to see more. I used to buy coated almonds at Seattle’s Farmers Market on rare trips to Seattle. We have a new Trader Joe’s which is half that distance. Next time I will visit them. Who knows? Thanks to you–those “yummy” coated almonds may just “jump” into a cart and follow me home! Just thinking about them makes me hungry!
I just love that you said, “snackity snacks.”
I’m ADDICTED to Fage’s 2% Greek yogurt! I haven’t branched off and tried the fruit flavors–I stick to the honey combination and it fills me up every morning :)

You got a lot of good loot!!! You were a fitness competitor?!?!! There is so much I don’t know about you. It’s like you’re living a secret life or something.
I used to plough through some spaghetti o’s in college. Ah, memories…
So how much was your bill? I just splurged on the most delightful things at Trader Joe’s and hit my record high for spending there. Love the ideas. I love to see them, but- great, my bill is going to hit another record. I have got to try that packaged salmon for lunch.
You get the best groceries! I need to stop talking about a roadtrip to Michigan for a TJ’s run and just do it!!
omg you could be my shopper lol I have issues I love Trader Joe’s and you photograph it like it truely is!!!
I LOVE those honey nuts!!!
I’ve never been to a Trader Joe’s…these things make me hungry…even though we just had dinner. I would like to pick out all the strawberry and coconut jelly beans from that bag please.
I LOVE your Trader Joe’s posts. A Trader Joe’s recently opened in our area (first one in our state!), so it’s been wonderful seeing what are the “must buy” purchases from TJ’s. Just wish ours were closer – it’s about 1/2 hour away. Thanks for all of the laughs & the great recipes!
I wish there was a Trader Joe’s near me!!!!! That food looks so good, and I cannot believe how cheap the chicken is!
if we don’t get a trader joes in kentucky, asap, i think i’m gonna flip :( that, or make the two hour trip to cinci…
btw…started Sweet Valley Confidential yesterday…did you read it yet?
I seriously wish there was a Trader Joe’s near by where I live. :(
OMG!!! I am a total TJ’s JUNKIE!! My mom and I both are and are always comparing what we bought. I love all of your posts and they always make me laugh!! I love how you take pictures of all your TJ’s stuff. I love all the stuff you got too. I am a peanut butter junkie so i love the pretzels and the mini cups. I live close to a TJ’s and recently I have been getting the tubs of the peanut butter cream cheese! Why has it taken people so long to come up with this idea??? I also found on my last adventure there Mango Butter!! Like Apple Butter but Mango! Omg!!! Can we say totally amazing! I love mangos and about died when I saw it. Sooo Goood!!! I have put it on toast and brie cheese and just on a spoon. I love it! You make me laugh everyday. I swear if we knew each other I think we would be BFF’s. Im just saying! :0)))
I love the pretzels filled with peanut butter! And I go CRAZY when I am in wholefoods, so I understand the TJ obsession haha
I just discovered your blog, and I absolutely love it! Almost as much as I love Trader Joe’s. I seem to have the same problem you do, I buy out the entire store when I go. Luckily, the nearest one is only 10 minutes from my home. And another 2 minutes from work. It feeds my addiction.
Happy Blogging!
Claire
Love TJ’s!! I love seeing your purchases because there is usually something in there that I had never seen before, but now I have to have! Tiny ice cream sandwiches?? Yes please.
i went to Trader Jo’s for the first time today with my roommate, and it was FANTASTIC!! lol. i love your blog! my boyfriend is thrilled that i found you, because now i test out all sorts of your fun recipes on him, hahaha, and that’s a big deal coming from a girl who used to only be able to boil water.

You have to cure yourself of your tomato sauce hysteria! If you can saute onion and garlic, and I’m sure you can, you can have homemade tomato sauce in less than 30 minutes. Here you go–try it, you love it!
