Having four pounds of butter in your fridge at all times is a good idea.
She also taught me this stuff.
Oh! And this.
She was definitely right about that.

I love those. They are all so true, and I would swear my Mom was the one saying them.

It’s great all the little things moms teach you that you use forever. My mom is very supportive, and is usually the first to comment on all of my posts!
By the was, I tried buying this much butter once and was thwarted! The event was so memorable I wrote a post about it called The Butter Battle. :-D

Did she mention it was the same amount for bacon? http://www.howsweeteats.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif

my favorite thing about having butter in the house is impromptu baking sessions (aka the chocolate cookies with white chocolate chips i made last night) (part therapy, part bliss)

Mom´s are great. Your list brings lots of memories. Life´s much easier when you have someone who knows what´s right and leads you. Yeah, and having enough butter is the keystone of almost everything :-).

I get nervous when I have less than a few pounds of butter in the house. I usually keep a few pounds in the fridge and a few in the freezer. I am actually going to add it to my shopping list for this week right now.

I see your mother taught you just what my mom taught me. Life is about moderation she would say and that was her favorite word when talking about food (especially butter) life, boys and in every day living. She is in a nursing home and going on ninety-five, my sisters and I will make this day very special for her but we try to make every day special while she is in there. Happy Mother’s Day to all the sweet mom’s out there. Paulette

You may have seen these, but I was searching for things to do with the salted caramel sauce you write about (I live 5 hours from the nearest Trader Joe’s and bought a ton of it a couple weeks ago while on vacation). I found this recipe, and wanted to share because it was AMAZING!

good point, you never know when you’ll need butter!

Butter is a complete necessity in the kitchen, and you taught me that :) I’ll go to the grocery store and see that butter is on sale only for the first pound, so I’m that person [sometimes] that will repeatedly go through the checkout so I can get my “first” pound of butter for the sale price. Because it’s a necessity. Happy belated Mother’s day to your mom!

I do. I usually store it until… I use it up!

Burst out laughing when I read this…cause I always keep two pounds in the freezer and if we take out the second that day (MUST BE that day) hubby buys another 4 lbs.
