Tuesday Things.
1. We’ve spent the last five days on a little anniversary getaway, which has really translated to me not wearing any makeup and wearing the exact same outfit three days in a row. Mr. How Sweet sure is a lucky guy!
2. On my first day in Sonoma a few weeks ago, I met up with Christina from Dessert For Two. Oh my gosh… was this girl the best time ever. Not only is her blog fabulous, but I just love her to pieces.
3. Speaking of this little anniversary trip, we’ve eaten frozen yogurt five times in the last five days. I might die.
4. Ever since Ashley brought those peanut butter cup donuts to my house last week, I have developed a fascination with donuts. The best part? I NEVER EVEN LIKED DONUTS BEFORE. Not my thang. But now… I’m obsessed and can’t get enough. Baked donuts may not taste like real donuts to you donut lovers out there, but to someone who previously didn’t share the love with donuts… I’m all over these. Literally.
5. Every few months, I go on a tea-buying binge even though I absolutely despise tea. It tastes like dirty water people, and don’t try to tell me otherwise. Yes, I’ve added milk. Sugar too. A whole crapload of other junk as well. But it’s sort of like coffee to me… because I want to like it. I want to drink it. I want to be a cool kid.
So I spent half of our grocery bill on this, which will make all of you super important real tea drinkers cringe. No, I haven’t tried it yet. Tell me I’ll love it.
6. Since I have hot, dirty water tasting beverages on the brain, let’s talk coffee. My biggest blog crush ever, Katie, posted this method for milk brewed coffee yesterday. It might be because I love her, but the minute we get home from our trip, I am making this. It probably has something to do with the fact that it sort of looks like hot chocolate to me and all I’m envisioning is a warm, smooth cup of hot cocoa sliding between my lips, to which I will most likely take one sip and promptly spit the rest down the sink. But it sounds good… in theory.
7. To cap off our trip, we are sitting under one blanket watching a Hoarders marathon. This is so romantic and I’m about to toss my cookies.

Sounds like you had a great trip! Wish we could have gotten away but both of us were stuck at work :( So we had In-N-Out for dinner by candlelight :)
One of my life goals is to have In and Out so that basically sounds like my dream anniversary.
If/when you finally go there (and you should do this soon) I have 3 words for you: Animal Style Fries. Do it.
I second the Animal Style Fries – so yummy!
Eee! So flattered! And yes it’s creamy and so delicious. Maybe you should add some sugar, though…it does taste like coffee still.
Oh and Hoarders makes me want to scream and rip my hair out. I can’t watch it for more than 2 seconds because I want to have an anxiety attack.
Have an awesome time on your trip. Since you mentioned yummy, frothy coffee..I thought I would fill you in on my current coffee giveaway. current coffee giveaway. It’s a good one. :)
Congrats on your anniversary! The scenery looks stunning and the frozen yogurt looks delicious! Enjoy!
ahhh enjoy the remaining time Jess! It looks beautiful over there! And I agree, I’m not a donut fan either, but I really wanna try the baked ones! And that tea is so intriguing :)
No makeup and lots of dessert – yup that sounds like the perfect getaway to me! I’ve never tried that tea but it sounds good I may have to track some down myself.
I love Chirstina- I’m so excited to meet her in a few weeks before Foodbuzz. Sounds like a wonderful getaway:-)
I’m not a tea girl either, but I love Bigelow Green Tea with Peach. Doesn’t even need milk or sugar!
Congrats on your anniversary! That frozen yogurt looks delicious :)
You are too cute with your posts! Frozen yogurt five times in five days sounds liks you are having an amazing anniversary getaway!!! I’m glad your enjoying your time!
HAHAHAHAHA – sounds about right to me! I’m pretty sure that would perfectly sum up my anniversary celebration :)
Chocolate coconut tea? Really? I think you should just stick to not liking tea. ;)
A) I LOVE HOARDERS. It keeps me out of self-esteem camp.
B) I LOVE TEA. But that crap looks nersty.
C) I LOVE CHRISTINA AND KATIE. Seriously, I just hung with Tina over the weekend and we fell in love. And I’m working with Katie on a super serious secret project. Both girls own half my heart. Sorry, Aaron.
D) We need to plan a girl’s trip.
E) Or is it just girls trip?
F) Whatever. It just needs to happen.
Frozen Yogurt is so good. Have you ever had TCBY? It is AWE. SOME.
I haven’t had TCBY in years!
Me neither. Ours closed down. :( I used to love the white chocolate yogurt in the chocolate waffle cone. It was so wonderful. sigh.
your vacation sounds like mine—except we eat daily ice cream instead of froyo, ha. the jeans are always a little tight upon return…worth it!
I can’t wait to actually meet you next month.
That has NOTHING to do with this post, other than that, well, its a tuesday thing :)
Seriously!!!
Hoarders totally brings out the romancee ;)
It seriously was the best girl time I’ve had in a lonnnnng time! Thanks for EVERYTHING! You’re are a sweetheart.
P.S. I just did the same thing with my contact last week–the whole peroxide in the eye thing. Yeah. Awesome. Not.
I have been meaning to get a donut pan and your post convinced me that I need to try baked donuts. So many amazing recipes out there, I don’t even know where to begin.
And wearing the same thing for days and no makeup…oh, you must be talking about new motherhood. Or motherhood in general. I can relate :)
Glad you had fun meeting up with Christina, too!
I love Republic of Tea! I have a vanilla almond tea from them that tastes like dessert if you mix it with milk and sugar. :-)
I love tea! I prefer it over coffee, actually!
I’ve never had that tea, but it looks fantastic, as does that fro-yo!
Big tea folks here….yum!
xoxo from Trinidad
I have a suggestion. Obviously, being from the south I must share the art of making the best tea ever. Or at least every southerner will tell you it is. This makes a gallon so I’m not sure how you want to downsize it (or not b/c you’ll love it). Start by placing 2 tea bags in your pot & add 2ish cups of water. The amount of water isn’t important really its just for boiling. As soon as your water boils remove & let steep. I usually wait 30 min & let it cool. You need a gallon pitcher with a lid & it needs to have 2 cups of sugar in the bottom of it (or 1 1/2 if you’re like my mom). Then when you’re tea is done sweeping just pour it in the pitcher. Fill it with water & put it in your fridge. DON’T TOUCH IT FOR ONE DAY! It tastes soooo much better if you wait. That’s it. Oh & if you really want sweet you can add more sugar. Depends on how much you really like sugar :)
Hahah yes oh yes… I would love this tea.
Oh & please try our milk punch – 1 1/2 oz good bourbon ~3 oz half & half ~ 1 teaspoon superfine sugar ~ drop or 2 of vanilla ~ ice cubes & a sprinkle of nutmeg. Mmmmm I just love good bourbon with anything
Um, that sounds incredible.
Once again, congrats on your anniversary. Never seen that tea before, looks interesting. Loving the filter on your camera/app. I love it when ya go on vacay & you don’t feel the need to wear makeup! Also I’m trying the milk brewed coffee tomorrow. Thanks for the suggestion.
…Or toss your donuts.
I wish I liked tea so much, but I never ever will I’m certain. Coffee will always trump all beverages for me.
OMG I WANT THAT TEA!!!
I need that tea-like drink!!!
isn’t Christina awesome?!? I met her this past weekend at Food Blog Forum – she’s so sweet.
PS: I saw some Red Velvet Cake flavored tea a few weeks ago and did not buy it. I regret it every day.
Happy Anniversary!!!
Happy Anniversary! My 4th was Oct 3!
Blahahahahahaa!!!! That last line is hysterical. Whenever my husband and I get away from the 4 (yeah, “four”) kids we always end up vegging in front of the tube. We did that last year. In South Beach. :-O
I hate donuts. There, I said it. BUT if you were a donut hater pre-baked donuts, I’m tryin’ them. Maybe a convert of me you’ll make.
Signed,
Yoda
Happy anniversary! Sounds like a great trip!
Now I’m craving hot chocolate and donuts! I bought a couple of those donut pans and I’ll tell you everything tastes better shaped like a donut! Weird, huh? I want to make Apple Cider Donuts, maybe this weekend? Donuts always taste best the day you make it. Do you have any good donut recipes, besides Ashley’s?
We live in Okinawa, Japan right now and they have a drink that is called either royal milk tea, or just plain milk tea. I love it to death but my husband says he wouldn’t drink it if he was stranded on a deserted island. Random I know but had to add this to the tea portion of your post.
That’s hilarious! My husband and I still joke that our best anniversary ever was the year we went to like 10 home improvemets stores looking for an air conditioner for our house in CT. At the end of the day we sat on the couch in front of the window in a happy coma! Hope you guys are havng a great anniversary trip.
just wanted to leave a quick comment to let you know I tried that tea. I was sucked in by the name. Unfortunately I don’t like it at all – it kind of makes me feel sick. And I actually like tea! My husband likes it though…and I don’t think it has much caffeine at all, so it’s good to drink at night. I just think it sounds (and smells) a lot better than it tastes. But seriously, if you want to like tea, start with the chai concentrate I just posted. Plenty of sugar, milk, and wonderfulness.
fro yo 5 times/day is my kind of romantic getaway!
do you use instagram for these amazing photos? or is it some other program?
i use a mix of about 5 different apps: instagram, camera+, snapseed, idarkroom, dynamiclight… i use 2-3 of those on each pic.
you have a secret obsession with 90210 too!! ok, ok, it’s not really a secret, but you catch my drift. i love your Tuesday things post, so keep ’em coming.
I made your salmon recipe for dinner last night and it was amazing! my husband claimed he didn’t like pomegranate, but he devoured the dish, so kudos to you.
so glad you guys liked it!
Happy Anniversary my dear! Yes, your husband is lucky. Wearing no make-up & the same clothes [sweats] is me everyday. You’re good. ps. I too have a blog crush on Katie.
of course Mr. Sweet is the luckiest guy on earth.. I mean you’re cute as can be, funny.. charming.. plus you bake amazing things. Happy Anniversary to the both of ya.. here’s to hundreds of more years together.. Make up and fresh clothes be damned :)
Happy Anniversary!! My husband and I celebrate our 4 year on the 20th. Keep up the amazing posts, they’re the highlight of my morning! Also, I’m still showing off the pics of your friend’s baby to everyone. He is hilarious and I can’t wait to see another pic of him and his funny faces.
I totally get the donut thing…totally.
Happy Anniversary. I’m always in favor of wearing the same outfit three days in a row (as long as it doesn’t stink). That usually means it is a comfy one!
LOL…dirty water! I have always said that tea tastes like dirty water, but never heard it from someone else. I also try tea very often because I feel like I should like it.
LOL! I dunno….it sounds like you’re having fun! (I’m not a tea drinker either!)
I love Hoarders, only because it motivates me to clean, lest I find some dead animal under the pile of junk in the corner.
I love the peppermint chocolate kind of the tea you spent an arm and a leg on! lol. And I assure you, it’s worth the arm and leg.
i am so in love with the Republic of Tea! Their green apple tea is my FAV. Growing up in Russia, I only really drank tea and just started drinking coffee after the baby was born (sleep deprivation, anyone?). But I still have a very strong love for tea, esp the Republic of Tea tea. (hehe tee-tee….)
