Tuesday Things.
1. OMG! OMG OMG OMG! It snowed last weekend! In October! OMG! Did you know it snowed? There is snow EVERYWHERE! Like, an entire INCH! OMGGGGGGGGGG!
Yeah. How you feel? That’s how I felt every time I opened up any form of social media. I might have participated by posting a picture. Fail.
2. I’m so happy it’s November 1st, because I can blast Barry Manilow and Manhattan Transfer Christmas music without seeming like a jerk. Now I just seem like I’ve aged 30 years overnight.
3. I made the most delicious lightened-up sweet potato casserole and I don’t even like sweet potato casserole. Well, I do. But I don’t. I just don’t go for it on Thanksgiving because I’m in the “OMG give me turkey but give me more gravy but put stuffing on top and oh don’t forget five scoops of mashed potatoes” mindset. Any other day, like uh… today, I’m all over it. And I was.
4. Okay. I get Traverse Magazine because I’m so obsessed with Northern Michigan, and this month’s issue is dedicated to mac and cheese. SO basically, it was dedicated to ME. I am DYING to make the cover recipe, which is mac and cheese spread in a baking dish, refrigerated overnight, then cut into cubes, FRIED, and covered with more cheese sauce. Oh, and like… some greens or something to make it look healthier. Kill me now.
5. I know I say it all the time but I don’t even care… I really, really, really, really, seriously need someone to come clean my kitchen. It never gets easier and it never gets fun. It’s going to drive me to drink. Oh wait… that may be fun.
6. Um, I still love Pinterest but I signed on today and saw people pinning “disgusting accidents.” ARE YOU KIDDING ME? What the heck is wrong with people? No. Are you kidding me? Barf.
7. I am so in love with pomegranates that I want to marry them.
8. Here’s Bella face. Chewing on… something. Probably one of my shoes.*
9. *Not really. Just sayin’ that so I can buy a new pair.

That mac n cheese does sound amazing!
I just realized you are speaking at FB this weekend, hope I get to meet you!!
I share your Thanksgiving mentality. Go big or go home, right? …and then I fall asleep at 6pm in a food coma.
Bella is too cute! :)
I can’t stand the cuteness!!
good lord, if you die of mac & cheese goodness, i’m going to die of bella’s cuteness, i SWEAR.
that puppy is the most adorable thing i’ve seen in a long time.
& hah. hah. i attempted to throw all my mixing bowls and dishes and pans and stuff into the dishwasher to avoid hand washing them and when i took them out… they were still filthy. it was really depressing… then i made my dad wash them tralalalalala.
I want the sweet potato casserole. I’ll clean your kitchen for it? I oddly love to clean…weirdo
I’ll swap you a kitchen cleaning for ANY of your desserts! Deal?
If you get annoyed every time Facebook tells you the same thing over and over again, you’re gonna live a long and annoyed live.
When you find a solution for #5 please share! Otherwise, ill just be here. Drinking in my messy kitchen.
Can you share some variation of the mac n cheese? I can’t find it on the magazine’s website…and that’s a problem!
Haha! After reading #4, I immediately googled “traverse magazine” and searched for the fried mac n cheese too!! I must try some, or at least drool over a picture of it…
I know, they need a better website! I am not sure if I will make it but if you guys want the recipe, email me at howsweeteats [at] gmail [dot] com.
That snow was seriously no joke. So annoying. We got 10″ and lost power :( It’s not suppose to snow in October!!! But that mac n cheese might cheer me up.
I felt the same way about the snow posts on FB. A lot of my friends are in the New England area and they posted over and over and over again about the snow. I was like uuumm… You live in New England. It snows. Get over it!
PS – Can Bella come play??? I’ll hide my Manolos!
I live in Michigan and getting snow in October is not unusual for us. In fact, it was weird to not have snow this Halloween. Oh well, the longer it holds off the happier I will be….I hate driving in it! And people in Michigan seem to forget how to drive in the snow every year. Aside from that, the best thing about this time of year, is that all the baking stuff goes on sale and I can just go nuts! Plus, the cold weather gives me a reason to have the oven on as much as possible to bake stuff in.
You cook me amazing food (and let me play with Bella) and I’ll clean your kitchen, deal? lol
PS – I’m just in NW Ohio but I spend a LOT of time in Pittsburgh … so it’d work out just awesome. Hahaha
No snow for us. :( its still in the 70s here
1. You can keep the snow…I’m not ready for it yet!
2. I blast Barry Manilow all year!
5. If you find that person to clean your kitchen, please send them my way! :)
I absolutely LOVE that you share my love for Christmas music AND AREN’T EMBARRASSED TO WRITE ABOUT IT!!!
Forget the POM, will you marry me?
lol it’s funny, I NEVER have to turn on the news or check the weather anymore cause I know if anything is happening it will be posted all over social media.
That is disgusting about pinterest. Reminds of when people got all obsessed with rotten.com back in the day… *shutters*.
That dog makes my heart melt.
Honestly, the worst part about the “snow” was the weathermen/people’s constant hyping up of it.. Here in DC, we got………. nothing. Some frosty rain and sprinkles that evaporated before landing on the ground, but the weather channel made it sound like the next snowmageddon was enroute.
And I’ve never been to MI, but if they’re all about mac and cheese there, then maybe I should visit.
i love your tuesday things. there’s always something to drool over (mac and cheese), something to chuckle at (barry manilow), and something to say awww to (bella) :) it’s the perfect list!
no snow here yet (portland, or)…but it’s so dang cold everyday, so it’s probably on its way – unfortunately.
Haha – I think number 9 is my favorite. And I fully support and endorse that new pair. I think I can see a bit of shoe in Bella’s mouth, so you know…just blame it on me when Mr. How Sweet asks ;)
Girls don’t need excuses for new shoes :)
That puppy is just too cute, i love watching my golden doodle chew and nibble on her toys with the same joy and care i use for my food ;)
YAY November 1st, i can officially start blasting the christmas tunes!
Pinterest and the “disgusting accidents”….ok I really, really hope that Pinterest stays a happy place of recipe swapping and crafts and household goodies…an Etsy meets Martha Stewart of sorts. I love it. So many places already exist on the internet for that kind of stuff. I hope Pinterest stays pure.
And I hope you drink AND clean your kitchen :)
i think i laugh out loud every day i read your blog… love your writing style and sense of humor!
It’s a good thing you don’t share where you live, because otherwise I would come and snatch Bella away. She’s so incredibly adorable!
Ewww, don’t they know that Pinterest is supposed to be for pretty things?
I actually thought of you when I posted about it snowing…I know how much you love it when people talk about the weather. Snooooze fest.
And I’ve been listening to Aaron Neville’s Christmas music for a week already.
Hahaha! You made my day! Well, you make me happy pretty much everyday anyways :)
I might be weird, but I don’t mind cleaning up the kitchen (well as long as music is blasting & Im sure a drink helps). & yes, the snow you know people were rushing to Giant Eagle to purchase every milk, bread and eggs they could find just in case there was a blizzard that would force them to be locked in their houses all winter long (even though their theory doesn’t work that well because eggs milk and bread will only last and stay good so long).
Hope you had a great tuesday.
I love northern Michigan too! I love that you get that magazine :). I used to spend some time in Mackinaw City, MI every summer when I was younger- I love it up there- and I have family in Traverse City!
Ugh, why WOULD people have to post accidents on pinterest!
Morbid.
Boo.
Blarg about the snow. We got around 12 inches and lost power. Which of course meant no heat. I guess it was a good excuse to snuggle :)
do you know when i should start looking for chocolate covered pom seeds at TJs?? ever since i read about them on one of your old posts, i’ve been craving them!
Pretty sure they have them year round? At least I think mine does!
Yup, they have them all year! I love them in my yogurt and ice cream!!
I just love Bella, she is so cute! She looks so soft and cuddly, I just want to pinch her nose!!
Oh my goodness Bella has grown so much already!!!! So adorable!!! I almost want another doggie. Almost……yea nevermind moment passed. :)
I always say that I want a maid to come and clean my kitchen, my floors and the bathrooms. I can take care of the rest. So far, no such luck:-(. I hope Pinterest doesn’t get annoying with horrible stuff like that. I like that right now it’s pretty and almost whimsical. I’m sure someone will come along and make it all angry – it is the internet afterall:-(.
Ah, I’m having cuteness pains – Bella is growing so much! Your blog always makes me smile. And makes me hungry too!
I SO enjoy reading your blog and watching Bella grow up. I have two goldens of my own they are just the BEST dogs. In fact, they go with me each day to my job as a school counselor. Love it!
Aw, I love that!
I could eat Bella with a spoon!!!
Hello! I just wanted to say that I LOVE your blog. You are so friendly and fun in your writing. And your recipes are yummy!I just think you are awesome and wanted you to know. :-) Happy Wednesday!
This post mde me laugh the morning! I layed in bed this morning thinking to my self…I need to find that mac and cheese recipe someone just posted…and then I read yours…FRIED MAC AND CHEESE!!! To die for. Will have to email you for it thanks! Sweet potatoes…not a big fan of it, but you add lots of marshmallows to it ..well maybe! You go right ahead and play that Barry Manilow. That made me laugh to! When we moved into our new house acouple of years ago I found my box of record…I lot of Barry Manillow in there..I said these cant be mine, they must be my sisters! Nope they were mine! Plugged in the record player, and yup they played just fine…no scratches!
Got to love the furry things! I have a Shoeburt..10# yorkie/shitzue mix that today is being just silly. Comes running into the Lr, barkes at you untill you get up, follow him into the kitchen just to show you he dumped his dish, fix it, go back into LR, sit down and start all over again! Its gunna be a long day! Enjoy your snow!!
Ok I am officially jealous of the snow. Texas won’t see snow until sometime in late Jan or Feb and it’ll last like 2 days, maybe 3 in the shade. I am officially going to move north so if anyone wants a husband and wife living with you please let me know! HA!! Bella has such a sweet face. Just want to give her kisses all over that sweet face! :)
Ugh, Bella is so freaking cute. We just got another puppy and he is SUCH a chewer! I’m not used to it since our last puppy never chewed anything. Shoes, remotes, fingers and purses are not safe!
I to have a “Bella” and she is a Golden also! My goodness does she love shoes! UGH!! Must be in their DNA… She seems only to chew the shoes over $100.00. My flip flops can lay around for days and she won’t bother them. Good thing they are so cute ;-)
Bella is just beautiful, she is one of the prettiest dogs I have ever seen, and such a lovely name too. I am sure you are very proud Mummy :) I do not think I had discovered your Blog at the time you got Bella, do you have any posts about her? Sorry for being nosy!
Thanks Francesca! Bella lives at my parents house – she is basically our “family dog” as we always had goldens growing up. Here are the first two posts about her: http://www.howsweeteats.com/2011/07/all-dogs-go-to-heaven/

Any reason to fry carbs always sounds good to me! Please post your creation!
Also, POM is so delicious although not as delicious as pomegranates themselves. You should find yourself a Lebanese friend and insist that one of their grandmothers give you some of their homemade pomegranate syrup. AH MAZING
you always make me smile on tuesdays. or wednesdays. or whenever i remember that you’ve posted a crumbs blog. amazinggggg. i’m giggling right now, thought you should know.
My boyfriend grew up in Traverse City and they have a cottage on the lake that we visit in the summer. LOVE it. This will be my first time visiting in the winter and I can’t wait :)
dedicated to mac and chese…a whole issue??! omg I cannot wait to see the ideas you come up with! I told you tha tmy mom is stil obssessed with the mac and cheese cups!
