Tuesday Things.
1. I’ve been such a grown up this week! Yesterday we bought a new washer/dryer and today I went ALL BY MYSELF to get my tires rotated. This is huge.
2. I should not brag about such things however, because now we are broke.
3. I also have determined that I would rather spend my money on anything – and I literally mean ANYTHING, like even a freaking broccoli farm – than a washing machine. Barf.
4. I also got my car inspected today by accident. Total grown up.
5. While getting my car inspected by accident, I sat next to the most negative woman I have ever encountered in my life. So I secretly brought up a positive quote search on Pinterest and titled my iPad her way.
6. We are now enamored by this insanely easy tomato sauce. It is so incredible and even I – who has abhorred all things tomato sauce-ish since birth – find myself craving it. I mean, lots of spoonfuls of romano helps.
7. Remember last year when I went through an obsessive tuna + avocado lunch phase? Well… it’s back. But with really thick, crusty toasted multigrain bread and bacon. Oye.
8. I am still going full throttle on that Taylor Dayne Pandora station, and it’s been made even better by like, every single song off Toni Braxton’s album, Secrets. God I love the 90s.
9. And speaking of, I’m THISCLOSE to buying the complete Dawson’s Creek series on DVD. It’s like I’m craaaaving it.
10. Wait, you mean real grown-ups don’t do that after they have to blow all their money on major appliances?
11. I wish I could still go to the prom. Or just go shop for a fun fancy dress. Me thinks I need to find a way to get into the Oscars.
12. You know the whole cruise ship tragedy thing? Well for my entire life, that is what I’ve envisioned it would be like to go on a cruise. That if I went on a cruise, THAT would happen. I have never desired to go on a cruise and though I’m riddled with many irrational fears (um like someone throwing me over the railing of the second floor at the mall if I stand too close), now I can ensure you that I will never, ever, ever go on one. Unless Leonardo Dicaprio would like to accompany me.
13. For dinner tonight I will be making this white bean soup because I can’t get it out of my head. In fact, I might just dunk my entire head in the pot tonight. What are you having?
14. Dude, I’m staving. Must find food.

OMG hilarious LoL
i don’t know why, but last thursday, I randomly started looking up youtube clips of old dawson’s creek. i miss pacey!!
Inspired by your Taylor Dayne station, I got it and then added some Tiffany to the mix. Amazing!
Now THAT is smart.
I’m totally with you on the cruise thing. Those ships be scary. Also, I want that soup now too! Mmmm.
Omg. You. Are me. I am terrified of cruises and my hubs wants to take the kids on the Disney cruise for HIS bday. I feel like I’m going to be Rose. Or Ginger or something.
Dawson’s Creek party? I’d cry if I had to put my money into buying a washer/dryer now…
I say buy the series and wear a fancy dress while watching :)
I like how you think.
netflix
I never thought I would go back to prom and here I am thinking about prom dresses and I’m 25. That’s what I get for marrying a high school teacher!
I always look forward to your Tuesday Things :) I have your Crockpot French Onion soup simmering away…my house smells amazing! I love that it has beer in it!
So what positive quote did you tilt towards Ms. Negativity??
I would watch Dawson’s Creek every single day. No shame.
I’m having leftover chicken pot pie because last night I was in a cooking frenzy and made all sorts of things to eat all week long. I wish I could go to the prom too… but for me, because when I was a teenager, there were no cute dresses for curvy girls! I was a 16 for goodness sake (big boobs) and all I could find were grandma dresses and sparkly moo-moos. I remember cursing at the Rampage company because their cute little prom dresses stopped a size smaller than I was then. BA! Now I’d go and rock a fabulous plus size dress with my sexy self!
wanna talk about cruise fears.. I fear shipwrecking in the middle of the ocean and seeing a freaking whale or shark… or anything that might eat me in one bite.. lol.. :P
I love your Tuesday things. Hope you’re having a great week!
Ugh. I am with you on the grown up bills sucking. I always love your things!
I actually thought of you! And thought of what your mom said – it’s just money, you’ll make more – um, I’ve needed to remind myself of that like 46 times per day in order to stay sane.
I justify spending lots of money on appliances by thinking of how much work they do for us…seriously, 6 people, two loads of laundry a day! Think if I had to go to the river, I would likely throw myself in.
I worked on a cruise ship for a year after high school. Nothing bad ever happened…except sharks circling on a swim call in the middle of the ocean.
Dinner tonight? Bacon, eggs, Belgium waffles with fruit compote and homemade whipped cream. Four happy kiddos tonight!
the best ever. I love tuesdays because of these posts :)
LOVE how you started out like such a big girl today! I mean, really. Car inspections, appliances, the positive quotation thrust (Hello grandma!), and even vegetables. But, not letting me down, you totally revert back to childhood with Taylor Dane, Dawson’s Creek, phobias and prom. You. are. my. fave.
P.S. I wouldn’t even board one of those death traps if Leo asked.
LOL to the dawson’s creek dvd collection! I think about buying that all the time, still love that show. Also, just wanted to tell you I absolutely adore your blog and have made numerous things from it that my family and boyfriend enjoy. You inspire me so much! Thank you!
I’ve been feeling the same way about #9. You should do it.
Hahahahahah, I love number 5! Something I would totally do :)
Isn’t it scary when you encounter people that negative? You’re like om gosh…you do exist! I think adults should totally have prom like outings!
I would rather spend money on Dawson’s Creek than a washing machine any day! It used to be on while I was getting ready in the morning, and before I knew it, I was becoming late to my daily activities because I needed to know if it was going to be Dawson or Pacey!
Oh that soup looks yummy and I dislike beans to the max! Believe it lady, I am making YOUR roasted red pepper penne TONIGHT! And am slightly terrified about broiling the peppers and steaming the junk off of them. Wish me luuuuuuck!
Oh I used to work at InStyle. I could’ve used my pull to get you to the Oscars! This post came just 4 months too late! Haha.
I love the list :) And I too hated buying a new washer/dryer but I’m so glad we did and didn’t keep the one the old owner of home wanted to leave behind–P.O.S.
And I cannot help but think the photo of the tomatoes looks like little organs in a pot. Am I wrong? hehe
I am also a total 90’s music junkie. Having graduated from high school in 95, it is the music that defines my adolescence. Plus it is freaking awesome. I have been adding a lot of Salt n Pepper to my Ipod lately.
sorry…Salt n Pepa. duh.
I bet your fear of being thrown over the second floor balcony at the mall stems from that scene in Clueless, which is completely understandable. “Rollin’ with the homies…”
Jess – you should get the Dawson’s creek DVDs then invite Kelly and I over. We can get Oreos haha :)
LOL I just set a series recording for Dawson’s Creek like 2 minutes ago.
It’s still on TV?! When?!
Its on cosmo tv in Canada everyday at 1. I’m actually watching it as I’m typing. It’s the one where Dawson’s dad dies.
Broccoli farm lmao!
Thank you for making me remember the 90’s! I am loving the Taylor Dayne station. I can’t believe the 90’s were or 10 yrs ago! They had real singers in the 90’s…wow!
Agh! Just the other day I was wishing I could go to the prom so I could wear a sparkly, fancy dress. It’s not like there are a lot of places you can go in Idaho that warrant dressing up. Even if you wear a regular skirt/dress, people look at you like you have two heads.
Congrats on your adult chores. The first time I took a taxi by myself (for a whole 15 minutes from the airport), I felt like a big girl. Whee!
you totally crack me up everytime I read your blog — which is every day of course!
For dinner tonite I’m taking one of my mom’s old casserole recipes & twisting it with a recipe for Pioneer Woman’s Au Gratin potatoes.
Wish me luck!
Um, I DID buy the entire DVD collection of Dawson’s Creek a few years ago. Do it. You won’t regret it!! The great thing about it is that you can fast forward through all the annoying Dawson parts and just watch the parts with Pacey. :)
I am actually going on Netflix right now to see if they have Dawson’s Creek…..
um like someone throwing me over the railing of the second floor at the mall if I stand too close <— ahhh!! That's ME TOO! How crazy?! I also have a fear that I will get my shoelace stuck in an escalator & then my whole leg will have to be cut off…I'll stick to elavators ;)
Oh I do that too!
Love your list.. And I say buy Dawson’s creek! I feel the same urge to buy the all of the oc seasons..
Here’s an idea to help save you money seeing as your broke: I’m assuming you have a library somewhere around you. Go to said library and see if you can rent out Dawson Creek DVDs for free. Or at the very least, a very minimal charge (even less than movie store rentals.) I do this alllllllllllll the time, because I’m thrifty *cough, cough* cheap *cough, cough*. My library has movies, tv series, magazines, books, books on tape, you name it. I usually rent a bunch of CD and burn them to my computer instead of buying them. I love using it to get the newest recipe books and using my scanner to scan the ones I like instead of buying said book because I’m thrifty *cough* cheap *cough.
Haha I hate spending money on things I actually need, like car repairs and maintenance, grr!
Sometimes when I read these crumbs…I think we were seperated at birth…
as for the washer/dryer…that’ll be our next big purchase…if i’m successful at talking the hubby outta the new sectional we found last night…but the sectional is pretty comfy, it’s kinda bad a$$, i can’t lie
Enjoy Dawson’s Creek, i’ll probably cave and buy that one day…along with Friends, SATC, Charmed, Buffy, Designing Women…oh I could go on forever.
Negative people suck. And they are usually found in droves, at places like the DMV and tire rotation centers. Sorry she was Debbie Downer. I love that you pulled up some positive pinterest inspiration. That’s classic. And awesome. Sometimes if people are especially rude and grouchy, I will stop everything that I am doing, look them square in the eye and ask, so HOW is your day going today?
And then sometimes they dump their whole life story on me. But it’s better than being grumpy to everyone else they encounter the rest of the day! :)
New washing machines and tires; almost as much fun as parking tickets and kindergarten tuition.
Thanks for mentioning the white bean soup as well as the tomato sauce! They look delicious!!!
omg did you know that Titanic is coming back to the theaters?! BACK TO THE THEATERS. And guess what else?
It’s going to be in 33333333333333 DDDDDDDDDDDDD.
April 6th.
OMG.
H-I-larious. Dawson and cruises and brocolli, oh my. Bean soup here too!
I have the same fears of cruise ships – pirates, fires, murders, titanic like disasters. Oy… no thank you. I strangely love buying appliances but would rather do almost anything in the world than deal with car maintenance.
I hear you on the repairs. Right before Christmas we had to buy a new thingamajig for the heating unit. Uuuuug. Tonight’s dindin is grouper & shrimp hibachi take out.
That is the best tomato sauce recipe. I love it on pasta with lots of cheese, but it’s also phenomenal on pizza. And I usually don’t put sauce on my pizza, but I love this.
Oh just hit buy on the Dawson’s Creek dvds. You know its in your cart already. Everyone should have their favorite 90’s show on dvd!
I am making sort of homemade turkey potpies…really excited.
I too am coveting the box set of dawsons creek, have been for several years but have not caved yet. I own all seasons of felicity and used to watch the whole series once a year around this time to get over my post Xmas depression, something about all that fictitious drama made me happier. ;)
I bought myself the complete series of Dawson’s Creek for my birthday a few years ago. It is packaged so nicely that is displayed prominently on the bookshelves around my TV. I could watch the K-Mart episode with Joey and Pacey over and over and over again. In fact, it may have lived on my DVR for months before the acquiring of the whole series.
OMG! Best episode ever. Hands down.
