Tuesday Things.
1. Um… this breakfast? Was insane. A truffled omelet with these fried potatoes, and when I say fried, I mean they HAD to be deep fried. So crusty on the outside and super fluffy on the inside. I just… can’t. Booze made it even better.
2. If you’re looking for some new blogs to follow, I highly suggest reading Heather’s and Jackie’s. I have a super weirdo, creepy obsession with them. Hey… at least I’m honest.
3. I developed the worst sinus infection and like, quadruple ear infection (my diagnosis, obviously) to the point where I can’t HEAR A DARN THING. I think I’m dying. And I am not dramatic at all. But the best part about this is since coming home, I’ve slept like a freaking baby because I can’t hear any snoring. Life is good.
4. I’m also pretty sure my husband is okay with this because I’m not talking much. He even made me mac and cheese from a box last night. True love?
5. Tell you more later, but I am seriously obsessed with Seattle. Like, I want to move there? Now? I know.
6. Oh but wait, I do want to tell you how we ordered 4 waters from room service on Friday night and they cost us FIFTY DOLLARS. It was super late, the shops/bars in the hotel were closed, I don’t think we could find a vending machine and if we didn’t have water immediately, our lives were going to end… so we ordered 4 waters from room service. In my next life, I think I want to run room service catering so I can be a millionaire.
7. If you’ve ever doubted my ability to talk nonstop for hours, you should stop. Because Bev happened to be on my connecting flight to Seattle, and after 2.5 solid hours of talking nonstop, we got told to shut the heck up by fellow passengers. I hate my annoying self. Sorry world.
8. And even though I can’t hear, smell or taste a thing, I have been craving this vanilla lemonade for days. Also totally flipping my lid over these cheesecake cones. They make me want to do nothing for the rest of my life except eat them. And I just might.
9. I didn’t get a picture of it (or, well… barely anything), but I drank a white chocolate bacon martini on Saturday. WHAT.
10. Let’s start the pity party now… since Girls is ending next week. Maybe next season Hannah won’t love getting naked so often? You’re the wound!!
11. Since my husband and I sort of like each other now (it only took 3.5 years. maybe I’ll tell you about this someday.), he had a little surprise waiting for me when I got home. I don’t even remember if I thanked him because I was still reeling from not being able to find my car in the airport parking lot. Worst.wife.ever.
12. I’m praying my life will be more fun starting tomorrow when I’m not a complete lump on the couch only ingesting popsicles. Oh… and brandy? I might have had a sip.
13. I vow to use less exclamation points in my life. Starting tomorrow.

That breakfast looks sensational! yumm
I hope you’re feeling better soon!
OH.EM.GEEEE, those Cheesecake Cones!!! Totally necessitate multiple exclamation points.
I’m still in shock over the water and I wasn’t even there! Insane. And I completely want those potatoes.
I am absolutely In LOVE with the beautiful City of Seattle and it’s surroundings. My husband and I visit annually and would move from Texas in a heartbeat if we didn’t have such strong ties here. Maybe, just maybe that’s where I’ll move when I retire or win the Lottery!! It’s sooo expensive to live there. Anywho….just wanted to share in the obsession with the lovely city.
Jealous, I’ve always wanted to go to Seattle!
I’m glad you like Seattle! I kinda dig it too…since I live here :) but I’ve never gotten a white chocolate bacon martini…do you remember where you had it? It sounds yummy!
It was at the closing party for Blogher sponsored by the Pork board!
NO, YOU’RE THE WOUND!
OMG I loved Seattle and didn’t mind the rain and dampness at all! you’re my hero and make my tuesdays complete. =) anthro haul!! I DIE. please share =)
If you spend more than a couple weeks in the Pacific Northwest, you will NOT want to live here for any amount of time. Rain and cold and crap like that all summer long.
Did you go to the doctor? I get blocked ears all the time when I’m sick and there’s a way they can (eww) irrigate them. They always give me Sudafed because apparently that drains them??
I have heard that and I do think the gloominess wouldn’t be good for me. Still loved it though! And yes, I did go to the doctor… the tubes (some long word) from my inner ear to my throat are clamped and infected bigtime, so they gave me antibiotics. Fun!
feel better. and More Brandy! that’s my professional diagnosis.
I love Seattle so much. It is my third favorite city, and I am lucky to be a 3 hour drive from it. well, in my car with my leadfoot, 2.15 hours. oops.
I have done that with hotel water too many times. robbery.
ok, how did i not know you were here in seattle???? you could’ve totally celebrated my birthday with me, 80s cover band style. pink jeans & all.
hope you hear (feel) better soon.
Okay, that would have been amazing.
A white chocolate bacon martini?? And you didn’t get a picture?? Shame on you, Jessica! Shame shame!! ;)
Ugh… I know.
LMAO.. I love anthropologie I need to go spend my 15% off for my birthday .. excuses excuses to shop .. lol .. I really missed out on blogherfood this year :( Would have loved to meet you :( anyway .. next year Im there for sure!!!!
I love when restaurant meals include a side of fruit; it makes it feel not-so-naughty even if it’s really not anyway! haha
Hope you feel better! Sinus infections are the worst! Have you tried Neti pot? I like mine, helps when I use it!
Glad to hear you liked Seattle! I wanna move there too…maybe in a few years after im working at one of those fancy law firms lol. Since you have a few fans that live in or near Seattle you should try to do a meet up if your ever here again? and defiantly spill the beans on where the white chocolate bacon martini is.
I would love to do that! The martini unfortunately was part of the closing party at Blogher sponsored by the Pork board, so I don’t have the recipe. :(
White Chocolate Bacon Martini? Jessica! I don’t think a drink screams How Sweet It Is more than that! Seattle is GORGEOUS! I’d love to move there too :)
OMG I can still hear her voice! Our “wonderful” loud voices. Ugh.
I too, have a love for Seattle. I only live 2 hours away but it feels so far. I don’t get there nearly enough. Every time I go, the list of must visit places doubles. So someday, I’ll have no choice but to live there. And I’ll be making cheesecake cones as soon as I possibly can, thank you for sharing! Sort of.
I’m so glad you love Seattle! It’s always going to be my home, I was born and raised there but have been stuck in horrible Utah for ten years now. If you wanted water that badly you could have had it straight from the tap, up there the water isn’t treated because it comes straight from (mostly) underground rivers and it tastes amaaaazing. But, it could be different in downtown from what I remember (I lived in a small town about 40 minutes east).
We actually did drink from the tap and I agree, it was fine! They only had small glasses though and we all wanted a big bottle at once! Wrong move.
you’re not allowed to move to seattle because i am hoping that one day i will run into you in some store and be able to fangirl over you even though you live in pennsylvania and i live in ohio but that’s okay because hope is strong right?
also i hope your ear gets better lol :(
Ha! :)
More Seattle love! The restaurants and markets and food scene up here is epic, you’ll love it here so much!!!
Oh Seattle, I love it so much. My husband and I live in Oregon now but we have plans to move to Seattle in the next year. Every time I go there I feel like I am home!
I have not seen the show Girls but you seriously make me want to watch it!
You seriously crack me up. Have you ever told the story about you and Mr. How Sweet met? I have a feeling it’s interesting. :)
P.S. What app do you use to edit your iphone pics? I only have instagram, but want/need to find another just because.
I used a bunch of different ones, but my faves are Camera+ and Snapseed!
You go away on a blogging vacation and come home to Anthro gifts and meet a million awesome ladies while you’re there. Okay, I need to come back in my next life as you!!! :)
Sorry about your ear. Must have been from all that water you drank at the hotel and they got all clogged…kidding :)
Where do these husbands exist where they buy you gifts from Anthro upon your arrival home??? I mean, my husband is great and does nice things for me … but he wouldn’t even know where to begin if he walked into that store… dear lord you are lucky!!
Sorry to hear about your sinus infection. My face keeps swelling up and I’m going in for a CT scan tomorrow to see if I need surgery. Go get it checked out!
Yikes – good luck!
You definitely should move to Seattle and come be my friend. Like NOW :)
Oh no they didn’t tell you to shut up. So not cool.
Sometimes John and I go through days where we ask each other “do you even like me?” – okay, mainly it’s me asking him that, but whatever – sometimes I wouldn’t like me either. Please share your secrets haha.
This is like my life.
We’re far too similar – it’s quite scary. You just might not know it because I’m mildly obsessed with you. There, I said it. #notcreepyatall
White Chocolate Bacon Martini!?! Where did you get that? If it was in Seattle I’m headed to have one as soon as I get off work.
Unfortunately it was at the closing Blogher party sponsored by the Pork board!
I found your portobello roasted red pepper recipe and then proceeded to spend the next 2.5 hours going through your blog. Needless to say I became OBSESSED!!!!! You fricken crack me up and have enjoyed reading everything. I also want to make everything on here (lord help my currnetly shrinking waistline) Thanks for all of the great recipes and can’t wait to keep reading and laughing. And since you’re a fan of bacon, have you ever tried a Bacon Old Fashioned?? One Word: AHHHHH-Mazing!!! Feel better :)
$50 for water? You’ve got to be kidding me. That’s ridiculous!
I don’t think I can stop using exclamation points even if I wanted to!!!
Um, white chocolate bacon martini?? Where can I get one?!
holy moly thats some expensive water but I totes agree..they make a KILLING…also water at sporting events and concerts…um $5.99 for a 20oz dasani?!>!?!
i’m with you on the seattle love…next time you need to try serious pie pizza, i always make a stop when i’m there!
ps. i need to get myself to one of these conferences so i can creepily be obsessed with you and force you to talk to me :)
WHAT WAS IN THE BAG??? you can’t just show us the BAG.
Your TuesdayThings always make me laugh so hard! As a naturally shy person, I think I would be frightened by your BIG personality the first time we met. (Don’t worry! That’s normal.) Then, I would warm up to you (because you are freakin’ hilarious) and we would have a dance party and watch reality TV. If you ever move to the Rocky Mountain region we should be friends. That’s all! Just sayin’…. :)

Exclamation points and Anthropologie good in life! Rock on…great post! Ally :)
I love love love Seattle! We lived there for 4 years in the Army and hope to return soon.
Can I just tell you that you make my Wednesday mornings amazing!!!!! I love sitting down with my coffee before my 3 year old wakes and reading Tuesday things. Since I have a 3 year old I never get to Tuesday things on Tuesday but man Wednesday mornings are AWESOME!!!!
By the way you can never use to many exclamation points!!! I love them! I am sure all my friends hate getting emails from me.
jessica, all i can say is, ‘you’re a doll’, and i, also, love reading your ‘side of life’…i share your stories at work with my co-workers (just yesterday i told them it was ‘storytime’ and read your airport story to them OUTLOUD..) and we laugh so hard that someone actually came in an told us to be quiet, that we should act like we were ‘working in a library’…(we are a communications/electric company–:) ) HOW DARE THEY. i always look forward to your blog. you are one of the most hilarious girls ever. i’ve noticed a change lately when referring to your husband…it has been kinder–marriage is hard work, but worth it. bless you and Mr. Sweet!
I love Seattle. It’s so pretty!
I don’t understand how hotels can get away with those atrocious prices. Not fair that they take advantage of their guests. Without guests, they’d have no business.
By the way, your breakfast plate looks amazing. It’s a pity you can’t taste it.
Every place I visit I end up leaving and feeling like I want to move there. But Seattle really is so great. My uncle lives there and I need so badly to get my butt back there.
That little fruit bowl looks ridiculous next to that grease breakfast! Oh, and my husband always uses brandy to cure whatever ails him. Its totally ok.
boo to being sick! hope you’re feeling better today. i wish i had seen you for more than 5 seconds this weekend! next time, next time
Seriously!

Get well, get well soon, we want you to get well! (Seinfeld reference) But seriously, I hope you feel better. :)
-Please never stop using so many exclamation marks. You use the perfect amount. I always understand the urgency that way.
-Thank you for coming to our beautiful little city. Please move here.
-The creepy obsession is mutual :)
-XO
So I’m not at all surprised you’re obsessed with a blog about cooking with beer. Is it creepy that I want it to seem like I know you that well, even though we’ve never met and I just read your blog? I’m not a creeper. I promise. I am, however, convinced that if I keep reading your blog and making your recipes, I will be engaged by the end of the year. So really, I’m more obsessed with the diamond I’m imagining than I am with your blog. There. See? I’m not a creeper :)
Are you going to share what treats Mr. How Sweet bought you from Anthro or are you going to leave us hanging? Not nice!
