Tuesday Things.
1. You know you have no life when the highlight of your week is seriously avocados being on sale for $1. Granted, you have to buy like 43 to get five good ones, but whatever. I’ll take it.
2. Speaking of avocados (…this really has nothing to do with avocados), starting this week I’m going to be posting some of my favorites at the end of each month, specifically beauty things. Because I’m obsessed. So if my adoration of highly glittered lipgloss and eyeshadow irks you, stay farfarfar away.
3. Dying for one of these boozy irish cream coffee pops. How incredible is that?
4. I am actually alarmed at how infatuated I am with country music at the moment. Maybe I’m craving summer? It’s just so weird. It’s so not me.
5. Also, last week at the Pens home opener I poisoned myself with four diet Cokes. FOUR. I don’t even like diet Coke. Carbonation burns my throat, my mouth, my chest, my everything. I don’t even know me anymore.
6. happy Tuesday… 24 things to be more grateful for. Can I get a high five on #10? because I’m currently listening to For the Record by Mariah Carey as I type. I also like #2. Oh and #18. Darnit.
7. Over the weekend, we watched Pitch Perfect. Umm… best movie ever. Well, I should say “we” loosely because I watched it once, but my husband watched it THREE times. Yes, three. Then he taught himself how to do the music thing with the plastic cups like Anna Kendrick does in the movie. FYI: I was not home during that… lesson.
8. Please look at these marshmallow peanut butter sandwich cookies. Ughhhh. It’s like fluffernutters and cookies and stuff had a baby. I want.
9. Okay: Girls. Let’s discuss. I’m conflicted. Funny, scary and a little too much for my secret 60-year old brain to get on board with, but still probably shockingly accurate at times. I’m so embarrassingly elderly. All I want is more Shoshanna in my life. Actually, I want her in my real life. I’m serious.
10. Tonight I’m making a taco salad for dinner. That translates to approximately one cup of chopped butter lettuce (because, um, it’s BUTTER lettuce) in the bottom of a large bowl so I feel good about myself, topped with meat, copycat Chipotle corn salsa, tons of regular salsa, cheese and an obnoxious amount of blue corn chips. What are you having?

I just saw those pb mallow insane goodness sandwich cookies this am. I’m having salad for dinner… because I’ll probably make a batch of those cookies for dessert.
Your dinner sounds crazy good!! I’m making a taco salad this weekend, and like the corn salsa idea. Also, I’m excited for beauty fav’s!
Uuugh! Four diet cokes!!! :)
Ha! My husband did the exact same thing (I guess minus the cups) with Pitch Perfect.
Um. Just when I thought I couldn’t have more of a girl crush on you, you name drop Shosh. She’s my girl. Well. She doesn’t know it yet.
P.s. my roommate graciously gave me an ice cream maker attachment for my kitchen aide. Have any good recipes I can use on this new child of mine?
um, of course.

Taco pie for dinner! You “supposedly” serve some lettuce on the side…but…come on. I linked the recipe below so you can know how bad you should NOT feel about your dinner :)

We are having chicken apple sausage with some cheesy broccoli rice. A taco salad sounds so super amazing, though! MMMM!!! I have cilantro I need to use….
I’m also from the ‘burgh and saw avocados on sale this week. My first two thoughts were 1. YES! $1 avocados! and 2. I hope Jessica from How Sweet Eats sees this sale!
hahahah that is amazing.
I secretly feel like I struck gold when I find avocados for $1 or less. It’s just sad.
Sadder still: celebrating with a Gimlet while I discuss with my husband how scandalized I was by Fat Amy’s behaviour on Pitch Perfect.
Me = secretly 82. For realz. (and having cumin-roasted chickpea-topped nachos for dinny. it just feels right to be eating Mexican food this week, no?)
Your din tonight makes me want to go to Chipotle right now, for lunch……. and I’m totally with you on the avocados. We’re so exciting.
Hey! Are you not posting everyday now? For some reason today’s recipe didn’t show up for me.
for 2013 i’ve just been doing tues things on tuesdays, but i’m still posting about 5 recipes a week – mon, weds, thurs, fri, sat!
I love those sandwich cookies!
It’s my boyfriends birthday, so I’ve been cooking for the last FOUR hours basically. I made homemade lasagna (no meat, but with a grilled eggplant layer), as well as a brown butter hazelnut cake I found on Smitten Kitchen. Should be a good night! :)
best girlfriend ever.
I look forward to hearing about your fav eyeshadow & lipgloss.
I, too, taught myself the Cups routine. Well, half of it. Then it got complicated & I gave up.
I don’t know what’s for dinner – I just had a Baby Pan Pan from Little Caesars. Though I feel a little guilty, it was the best decision I’ve made in awhile.
There is an amazing local-owned grocery where I live that has avocados on sale this week for thirty-nine cents. THIRTY-NINE CENTS! I don’t need anything else to eat this week, thanks.
I was conflicted on Girls, too — until I watched next week’s episode on demand at exactly midnight Sunday night. The next episode will rock your face off.
Wait, whaaaat? Next week’s episode is already on demand?! That’s cheating! (But I’m going home to watch it!)
Also – is it not illegal in NY to walk around with (basically) no shirt on? I kept waiting for someone to notice, but I guess “I’m on coke!” overshadows “I’m topless!”…
My boyfriend had to listen to me complain for 10+ minutes after Girls this week about how there isn’t enough Shoshanna this season. I LOVE HER. Tonight’s dinner is whole grain spaghetti and pesto with chicken sausage, peppers, kale, and maybe some roasted green beans and tomatoes? Plus cheese, obviously.
Freakin love Girls. Almost as much as I love(d) SATC and that says a lot!!! I wish it was an hour!!!
Oh dinner! Braised lamb over garlic mashed!!
Loved PP so much! My daughter also taught her self the cup song too! So cute! Must be Taco Tuesday fever! That’s what my 11 year old son requested yesterday at dinner! So everyone indulge their tacos, taco pies and taco salads! We are te Bubba Gumps of Tacos! :)
General Tso’s chicken. With Broccoli. And rice.
So, I watched the first episode of Girls and was not impressed. Those that love it, really love it, and then there’s those of us that are just meh. I think I’m too old for it. Not secretly 60-year-old, just not young enough (or hip enough?) to get it. However, I think Lena Dunham is incredibly attractive in a bizarre sort of way, so I think I need to watch this episode, from what I’ve heard.
P.S. Avocados here in York, PA are .88c. Too bad I don’t know how to pick one.
Completely obsessed with Pitch Perfect and Girls at the moment.
Tonight’s dinner is Spinach Artichoke Chicken http://p.ost.im/p/dfYJES via @addapinch. Once I heard it tasted like Spinach Artichoke Dip I was sold!
This weekend I told my husband we would “keep checking the circulars” to see when the price of lobster comes down. We don’t even GET circulars so I’m not sure what I was talking about. He just looked at me and said, “wow. I’m married.” Yup.
At that same grocery shopping trip, we got avocados for $1 and I was psyched!!
If it’s called “salad,” it’s fair game.
what?! i watched pitch perfect this weekend too!! it didn’t get nearly enough credit in the theaters. soo good and i love anna’s boy in a weird dorky way!
Let me tell you how I had begged my boyfriend to go see Perfect Pitch and we never did. Then I get and we watch it and he’s singing and dancing when it’s over. THEN watches it again without me…good thing he said ‘I was right’ when I said it was going to be the best movie EVER!
Oh Girls. In my opinion it hasn’t been as good as last season, but I LOVED last season. like obsessed. Don’t get me wrong I still watch every episode but I’m not crying laughing like last season. I think it has to do with the fact that Shosh and Jessa aren’t in it as much. I love the dynamics of the 4 of them. Next week’s episode looks promising in the previews though!
me too, but I feel like that’s just because last year it was sort of a secret and now that it’s exploded, it will never be as good again. whomp whomp.
A coworker just told me how much she enjoyed Pitch Perfect. I just nodded and made a random comment because Ihadnoideawhatmoviethatwas. So sad. *lol* And now I want a taco salad(soon, my tummy)….but for tonight it’s Gordon Ramsay’s sticky lemon chicken!
oh Girls, it makes me extremely uncomfortable and yet I cannot stop watching, there was just a little too much awkward and uncomfortableness this past week. I need to meet your husband, I love that he watched Pitch Perfect 3 times and learned cups!
Our Giant Eagle *never* puts avocados on sale, so I just about died when I saw them for only $1. Bliss.
I think we are going to make coconut and lime chicken noodle soup…
I def be coming over for dinner.
riiiiiiiiiiiiiight there with you on the pitch perfect obsession. my brother might be your husband’s twin…he’s 21 and he and his college roomies watched it twice in one week. he was embarrassed, but i was proud!
Thank you for finding [and sharing the link to] those Irish Coffee Pops! Can’t wait to make those. Wow.
Um, just realized I haven’t watched Girls yet this week. WTF?
Also, I’m dying to see Pitch Perfect. Cannot wait.
Seriously loved Pitch Perfect an embarrassing amount. I got my husband to watch it with me by begging (because it was a “girl movie”) and then he got so into it, he teared up a little when Anna Kendrick did her cup thing. I was like, “WHAT is going on right now,” and he said that crazy amounts of talent overwhelm him. Love him and find him hilarious in equal amounts. And apparently Anna Kendrick makes men do crazy things.
#1, AVOCADOS! Yesterday I asked my coworker, “do you like avocados? Now before you answer that, realize that whatever you say will determine how I feel about you for the rest of the time that I know you, anddd go!”
#9, OMG, every time I watch, and I watch ALL the episodes, I cringe and want to throw things at the screen, but…I can’t stop WATCHING. DRIVES ME INSANE.
Do you get Birchbox? If not you should! http://www.birchbox.com/
yes I do! honestly though… not that impressed with it.
Screw birchbox, it’s all about Glossy Box!
Really? I feel like I’ve scored, but it was a gift so maybe that’s why!
Am I a crazy person that I freaking LOVED this week’s episode?? Minus the whole having to see Hannas boobs the whole time, I thought it was hysterical. But yes, more Shosh please.
And I can’t wait for these favorites posts!
I love a good avo sale. Sometimes I can get them for 50 cents each. That’s really a (cheap) thrill :)
And Naomi’s PB sandwiches, I know. I’ve been drooling at them on every pin board for a week!
Diet Cokes…LOL. Hopefully you’re all better now!
I just caught up with Girls after seeing you mention it a few times. I couldn’t stop watching despite being old-people-scandalized and having TOO MANY FEELS about it. Now I want to talk about it, but I don’t know anyone who’s watching it. feeeeeeels!
haha! we watched pitch perfect this weekend too! so hilarious!
Left over Bacon, Vidalia onion and mushroom pizza from Otto in Brookline Ma. Yum!!!!
P.S. My 12yo watched Pitch Perfect 10 times last weekend. They call me ” Fat Amy” Ha,ha!!!!!!
Two things
1. We just got HBO/Showtime (I know) and now that we’ve finished Homeland I’m obsessed with Girls. I’ve done nothing but watch TV and eat marshmallows for 3 days straight. Truth.
2. Darius Rucker’s cover of Wagon Wheel. Do it!
Yesssss! I watched Pitch Perfect for the first time this weekend, TOO! This solidifies our friendship. I’m obsessed. I’ve watched it 3 times already and there is no hope of ever sending it back to netflix.
OUCH on the Diet Cokes, my chest burns jus thinking about that. I really want to see Pitch Perfect, can’t wait until I can. Dinner tonight for us is Taco soup and instead of using chips we use avocados at the bottom and put the soup on top. It’s amazing!!
Country music is the best!
I’m having mu shu pork lettuce wraps — can’t wait!
mmm, taco salad sounds amazing! Tonight’s dinner: Slow roasted southwest chicken tacos with a spicy jalepeno, sriracha, and blue cheese slaw.
So pitch perfect. Best. Movie. Ever. And your husband? Sounds like mine. While I am putting the baby to bed, he is watching by himself and then comes in and says “babe, I messed up the rug a little while I was dancing.” What a weirdo.
I just finished watching Girls before clicking over to Tuesday Things cause I was pretty sure you’d talk about it…. and I actually said an audible “what the what?!” at the end of the episode. So weird. I love how psycho Booth Jonathan is though……I think.
It’s hard to find avocados for $1 even in California! sigh. Ready for summer to come back!
omg Girls…they’re supposed to be my age and I don’t understand them like…at all. Except Shoshanna. I love me some Shosh.
