April Favorites: Food + Fun.
I am absolutely enamored with the above scent from bath and body works, along with the gelato candle too. They are so fresh and perfect for spring! I love any candle that smells like food and candy.
Okay, music. I know I’ve said it a million times but THERE IS SO MUCH GOOD COUNTRY MUSIC OUT RIGHT NOW! ahhhhh. As for songs I am obsessed with, Kelly Clarkson’s and Vince Gill’s Don’t Rush is definitely number one. Even my husband loves it. Loving Brad Paisley’s Beat This Summer and still adore Tim Mcgraw Highway Don’t Care. All so summery! On another note though, I’ve been blasting the new Michael Buble album too – like, constantly. Um, he sings with Reese Witherspoon. Done.
I got this scarf a few weeks ago and can’t stop wearing it. I am definitely keeping on the scarves as long as I can and well into spring… possible even summer if the weather permits.
This is the meal that I can’t get enough of. I have it for lunch (sometimes breakfast) almost every day right now. It is so freaking filling. I have been cooking my scrambled eggs in coconut oil. Love it.
Every year it never fails that I get a pair of nude wedge sandals and wear the death out of them. They are just so freaking versatile. Jeans, dresses, skirts, etc. I’m way ahead of the game apparently and already got my new favorite pair… but bad news bears: I can’t stop wearing them ALREADY. My prediction is that they will be beat down by July. Mine are the cream ones… but I also want the coral. Of course.
You guys know I love any and every kind of cheapo costume jewelry and it is taking all my might not to buy practically everything on bauble bar. I love anything with color that is somewhat stackable. The above neon orange cuff is from Off 5th, then the rest are bracelets I got off bauble bar at one time or another, besides my mint watch that I mentioned in February. I like to trash up my wrists.
I can’t believe I’m even talking about this, but I actually enjoy the mamma chia drinks. Even though I am in the kitchen for the majority of the day, sometimes I don’t have time to sit down and have an actual snack. These things have been a lifesaver and the texture does not freak me out. I totally thought it would. They don’t.
Books. Okay, I fully intended on talking about how much I loved Kristin Hannah’s new novel… because I figured I’d love it. Like I guessed last weekend, I did read it in the first two days it was out. Without going into too much detail… I found it incredibly depressing. I was just disappointed in how the story actually took place. It’s still a great story with some of my favorite writing, but there is a reason I don’t like to read depressing things. It’s why I can’t ever pick up a Jodi Picoult novel. I am a simpleton and need only rainbows and butterflies in my life. Also, I’m such a psycho that when I read something slightly scary I envision that it will happen to everyone in my life and I have nightmares. Anyhoo: about four fifths of the way through I started to enjoy it. Take that as you will.
We haven’t had a great track record with frozen meals from Trader Joe’s lately, but I do have to say that my husband brought home the s’mores ice cream sandwiches one night and they were delicious. I’m hooked.
Speaking of coconut oil up there, I was excited to see this spray at Trader Joe’s. I have previously used the spectrum brand but this is so much cheaper. It still has propellent in it like Pam, but apparently isn’t supposed to have as MUCH scary stuff in it? I don’t know, I just like it. Along with my olive oil sprays. And since SOMEONE (not me) has destroyed all of our nonstick pans, spray is a must before cooking anything.
While we were out back in March, I got a cocktail with a big fat ice cube in it instead of a bunch of little ice cubes. I could not stop talking about the big fat ice cube. It was all I could think about. I was in love. I was also very annoying. I found the big fat ice cube trays at williams sonoma. They have made my life. I’m kind of easy to please.
All done! What sorts of food things are you loving this month? What are you eating for snacks? What music are you listening too? Really what I’m asking is for you to tell me what going’s on in your life so I can live vicariously through you. K thanks bye.

VERY adorable scarf and wedges! I also bought a new pair of wedges for this spring/summer from Marshall’s, which just came to Canada, so I’m really excited about that! Also.. I am obsessed with bath & body works candles as well. My boyfriend & I always pick out a few together at the beginning of every season.. it’s like being in a candy shop! And it always gets me SUPER exciting for the season to come!
The big ice cube tray would be great for mother lovett, because after sitting on the counter for a half hour or so it would fit perfectly into her glass of Diet 7-Up and Ancient Age
hahahaha NAILED IT
I have to get me some of that coconut oil spray! We finalllllllllly got a Trader Joe’s here in Rochester, NY
Omg, I felt the same way about Fly Away! Way, way too depressing. Granted my hubs is pretty convinced that my mental theme song is “Sunshine, Lollipops, and Rainbows Everywhere.” I just felt the happy-ish ending was not happy enough to compensate for how depressing the rest of the book was. Especially the last page and a half or so. Jeez, talk about pouring salt on the wounds!!
WANT the giant ice cube…omg! That meal is the meal of my everyday dreams. Lurve it. Also love cooking eggs in coconut oil…and ghee. You need to try cooking with ghee…I know I’ve told you that before. ;)
Your jewelry pics are great! I think you’d really like the Nugz jewelry line – it’s basically a huge customizable fun jewelry collection where you can select different “nugz” to snap onto bracelets, necklaces, etc so the possibilities for fun sparkly color are endless – I am obsessed! http://www.nugzjewelry.com/
I have the big spherical ice molds and I’m obsessed. Mostly just with making them because it’s so much more fun than an ice cube tray and I’m easily entertained. I mean, it’s a big round ball of ice! Amazing!
1. I am loving anything with GOAT CHEESE, STEAK, or TEQUILA.
2. I did a 45 minute home workout last night with Jimmy Fallon’s ‘Idiot Boyfriend’ playing on repeat.
3. I am trying to figure out if I can secretly learn how to drive standard since the Hub bought a brand new mustang this weekend and I want to secretly drive it to like the mall or cold stone during the day while he’s at work.
I totally have your mint watch in yellow from Anthro that I got almost a year ago and I LOVE it!!!
the ice cube try is making me die of laughter. when i am gone at least my husband will still have an amazingly cooled drink.
we have a giant ice cube maker!!! my boyfriend became obsessed with the idea of having giant ice cubes and sought one out. now, it´s his favorite thing to show people whenever anyone comes over. we are about 6 months in to it and his excitement has yet to wane.
Old Fashioneds are typically supposed to be made with those big ice cubes! They look so purdy! As do your bracelets. :)
Ive been loving the TJs coconut oil spray b/c as you said, a fraction of the cost of Spectrum and Spectrum is also only at my WFs and I try to NEVER go in there b/c it’s dangerous$ so I love that I can get the TJs. I know I could just use regular coconut oil but the fine mist spray is so handy.
And I love Bauble Bar and would love to raid your jewelry box!
The new Michael Buble CD is a-ma-zing. The track with Reese is actually one of my favorites. I can’t stop playing.
The giant ice cube!! OMG!! I WANT that! so freaking cool! Oh an that meal? Yeah It is pretty much an everyday thing around here too, except I have been all about the drippy egg lately!
My current fave snack is your crunchy quinoa, toasted almond and dark chocolate brown butter granola. Thank you for that one! I am also loving Hershey’ Bliss Dark Chocolate. Heavenly! I’m getting married in 2 1/2 weeks and decided it was time to cut back on my nightly fro yo for dessert for a while. Instead I have a couple pieces of the dark chocolate and I’m set.
I love these posts! I love when you talk about your favorite things.
Hmm..what are my current snacks? Lately, I’ve been making Two Peas’ granola bites using sun butter. Also snacking on apple juice sweetened dried cranberries. And I also made Heidi’s peanut butter rice crispy treats (made with agar agar, peanut butter and brown rice syrup). That’s all I got!
Love that scarf, you are tempting me.
I just finished Veronica Roth’s “Divergent” – it’s the first in a trilogy, and I love it (it’s a YA novel, which always makes me feel a bit like a creeper, but whatever). If you liked The Hunger Games, but don’t normally love the sci fi genre, I recommend it.
Still love the bubble necklace. Up until now, I’ve only found/purchased the bigger bubble necklaces, but I just discovered “itty bitty” bubble necklace, and now I’m obsessed with that. Just bought it in yellow and am contemplating bright green: http://www.ilycouture.com/product_p/ibbn.htm
And this bright green pencil skirt (http://www.thelimited.com/Herringbone-Textured-Pencil-Skirt/7123830,default,pd.html?dwvar_7123830_colorCode=899&start=5&ppid=c5&cgid=skirts). Pretty sure I could never get away with this in the office, but…I still think it’s fantastic. Thanks so much for sharing your favorites!!
I was loving those candles too! Haven’t bought them yet, but they smelled so good at the store. I’m bummed the new Kristin Hannah is depressing, I love her books but definitely don’t like books without a little “feel good” effect. Thanks for the warning!
Things I’m currently obsessed with:
1. Married to jonas. They are just so cute.
2. Harlem Shake youtube videos. Homemade and celebrity ones. The Backstreet Boys is probably one of my favorite ones. Still hoping Hanson comes out with one.
3. That giant ice cube. That one is your fault.
I’ve found that sometimes you don’t realize how much you love a book until long after you’re done reading it. I devoured all of Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell, the whole time thinking I wasn’t really that into it. And yet, I couldn’t put it down. Then afterwards, I just kept thinking about it. When I saw a hardback edition in a used bookstore in Taiwan years later, I absolutely have to have it. Some novels just take a long time to digest.
I’ve been wanting to find a healthier substitute for Pam. I’m so excited about the coconut oil spray. I need to buy it asap!
I LOVE every picture in this post…can I borrow those accessories?
Ok, so I LOVE Firefly Lane. Always have. But, I didn’t even know there was a sequel until reading it on your blog. So I of course, immediately bought it on my Kindle and read it in a few hours while I was supposed to be cleaning my house. I also thought it was depressing! I was so bummed because it just didn’t do anything for me. I will say that the part I liked was reading about Tully’s mom’s history and how she cleaned up her act. That was redeeming, but the rest was just meh. Thanks for the heads-up on the sequel though! : )
So excited about the Coconut Spray!! I will have to swing by TJ’s today & get some mine is almost out! Love all your jewelry, how you dress up & look great everyday is a motivation for me to do the same!
I also got spring candles from Bath and body works recently! Fave scent is Margarita… Can’t go wront with a margarita :) (also love their Margarita body scrub : clearly a must have!)
Loving the new Chanel Stylo Eyeshadow sticks – so cool to the touch – Bought the Black and Taupe – think I am going back for the gold one. Love your ice cubes – check these out – so fun and you can ever put fruit or olives – lemon slices/herbs or whatever in them

I had a cactus margarita at the Mexican restaurant the other day that I can’t stop thinking about. It was fuschia pink…bright and pretty and so yummy. I don’t know how they did that. On the wedge note, I love love my Steve Madden’s. I have them in several colors and they are super cute and comfortable for heels.
I’m making a TJ’s trip this week, just added the coconut spray to my list. I also had one of their salads last time, it had chicken, quinoa and arugula and I want another one. That’s all! :)
Mrs. P just died when she saw this watch!!!! She’s obsessed with mint!!!
Have you read “How To Sleep With a Movie Star” ?? One of my favorite chick lit books. Seriously so wonderful and perfect for reading on the beach, or whenever you want a chick flick in a book. It’s by Kristin Harmel.
1. I can’t stop eating fresh herbs: mint, basil, cilantro, parsley, what have you. I chop them into salsas or put them in aguas. I feel fresh and fruity and I love it.
2. I can’t stop listening to Pitbull and Icona Pop and (on the downlow) Taylor Swift. Yes, I am actually a 14 old girl (on the inside).
3. I’ve also been really digging coconut water for after workouts. Slightly more mature I think.
Love your blog!
I’ve joined the coconut bandwagon (in an attempt to grow my hair out) and have been slightly obsessed with running the oil through my hair a good 30 minutes before I shower. I heard from a Trader Joe’s employee that she takes that oil/spray and full on sprays her hair with it! Weird or genius? Probably both.
Love this list! The ice cubes are great :)
Here are a couple more suggestions, based on your picks.
1, I agree with you on Jodi Piccoult books, but was surprised by how much I liked her latest read – Storyteller. Maybe a new read to try?
2. Speaking of new reads, have you read John Green’s – No Fault in our Stars? I think it may be my fave of the year so far. It’s YA but so good!
3. I stumbled upon a new site that is fun for jewelry … beso beads. Fun, unique and handmade pieces at great prices – http://www.besobeads.com
4. Buble + Reese… such a great combo! She is one of my faves and coupled with him – perfection!
What I’m loving right now:
1. Essie Miami Vice nail polish & the Maybelline Vivids Shocking Coral. Actually, I’ve been really into obnoxiously bright pinks and corals in general but those are my two favorites. I also have a really fab chunky necklace from J.Crew that’s bright pink and orange opaque “stones” with crystal details. Its delicious.
2. Coconut Oil. I’ve always been obssessed, but I’m currently using it for everything from hair to make up removal to moisturizer.
3. Kombucha (GT’s hibiscus is my fav.) I haven’t ventured into their chia ones bc I thought the texture would freak me out (I have texture aversions) but maybe your positive experience with Mamma Chia should get me to reconsider my position.
4. Newly-released cookbook Gather by Bill Staley and Haley Mason. Its gorgeous and targeted towards gatherings of course.
5. Crested Duck’s bacon of the month club. I mean, I really shouldn’t need to say more – its bacon – but they do a different flavor each month. This month was vanilla bourbon, I mean, COME ON!
I could live on two things right now: smoothies and egg and cheese sandwiches on toast with strawberry/grape jelly, cinnamon and apple slices. It’s a good thing both meals are pretty nutritious. :)
1. Is that cupcake recipe coming to the blog soon?
2. Is this real life? http://www.williams-sonoma.com/products/cirrus-ice-ball-press-kit/?cm_src=AutoRel
I am a little late to the party, as I have just been getting caught up on my blog reading, but my current obsession is Stella and Dot. Scarves, bag and jewelry, I want it all!!! The jewelry from the Bauble Bar reminded me of it and it is fabulous! I have a huge order coming this week and I am dying from the wait! http://www.stelladot.com/sites/nancyboyer
“I am a simpleton and need only rainbows and butterflies in my life.” – Love it. My philosophy exactly.
Definitely thought that coconut oil spray was for your hair until you started talking about pans!
