February Favorites: Beauty.
Happy happy joy joy! My favorite time of the month.
Time is flying and I am using a bunch of the same things as last month. I guess that is good? I’m really loving them then.
Some obvious things I always love… that darn kenra blowdry spray, the batiste dry shampoo, those darn urban decay 24/7 liners. I’m also still using the kiehls creme de corps for my daytime body moisturizer and the glam glow hydrating mask. LOVE THAT. And the dr. jart sleeping mask!
Time to chat favorites… let’s waste time and talk too much about makeup.
First up, let’s talk about face stuff. Apparently the Josie Maran daily moisturizer that I love is being repackaged and won’t be available until April (I found that out by stalking the Josie Maran facebook page) and I ran out awhile ago. I bought this caudalie moisturizer while in Sephora in December, on the recommendation from a sales associate after complaining about my dry skin.
I’ve been using it for over a month and can finally say I do like it. I think I’ve used it long enough to decide. It is unlike any other moisturizer I’ve tried – I would describe it as being thick and silky, and it’s truly the only one I’ve ever tried that gives meaning to the expression “doesn’t feel greasy.” I often feel that it won’t be moisturizing enough because it doesn’t feel heavy… yet, it always is moisturizing enough. Granted I’m still moisturizing like heck at night, so that might be why.
It is pricey, however, and I feel like I need to use a lot of it. I probably don’t, but haven’t worked that out yet. I’m anxious to try it alongside the Josie Maran one when it comes back this Spring and determine which I like better. I think you get more for your money with the Josie one though.
In the same trip, I bought this grape water face spray. I mean, I don’t know if this really does anything, but it’s all about the experience for me. I’ve been using it in place of MAC fix+ (which I’m out of) and also on my bare skin.
I really like it – and probably appreciate the spray quality the most. Every other face spray I use (fix+, urban decay setting sprays) usually craps out on me halfway through the bottle and ends up spraying droplets on my face. This has yet to do that. The mist is perfect and even.
I wouldn’t say it’s an OMGmusthave but if you love beauty products like this and enjoy face mists, it’s pretty cool.
A repeat… but man, I’m really still liking this CC cream. I mentioned this last month, but it gives a bit more coverage than the tarte moisturizer and I really like that at the moment. With my skin being dry, I’m also getting occasional redness and this covers everything. (Keep in mind I hate to use foundation, so if you’re a foundation person, you might not love this.)
Not sure if I will continue to use it as it gets warmer, but it’s definitely been my go-to this month.
And probably for this reason! I talked about the beauty blender a bunch last year. I even bought my mom one and she uses it daily. I love how this evens out my skin with the CC cream above. The only reason I wouldn’t use this everyday is out of pure laziness – sometimes I don’t feel like wetting it. Yeah. I’m lazy.
But the picture on the left is how much it expands after being soaked with water. I find that this has also kept anything from clinging to dry flakes on my face.
Not much to say here, other than I’m still freaking LOVING this benefit lollitint for blush. If possible, I love it even more than last month. It’s so easy. It’s my perfect color. It’s such a GORGEOUS color. The end.
Lips lips lips!
My bright lips didn’t make much of an appearance this last month. I’m allll about light and cool pinks at the moment. The top left is that korres lip butter in jasmine that I never shut up about last year. GAH. I adore this. The color, the moisture. Everything. I had been out of it for awhile and picked it up at the VIB sale last Fall. In love again!
Top right is the pink lemonade revlon lip butter. This is also a repeat love but something I slap on my lips when I’m in a rush and want a little hint of color. I love that I don’t need to use a mirror with these.
Bottom left is MAC snob lipglass. A classic. If you love cool pinks, this is definitely one of the best. Plus, I used to have a serious obsession with MAC lipglass and dazzleglass. I don’t mind the stickiness and actually love how thick the lipglass is. It stays on for hours… at least for me.
Bottom right is another one of those revlon matte balm sticks in elusive. I’ve been going matte on my lips if my eyes are super sparkly. I think this is my third one of these matte balms and they are by far my favorite matte lip products. Not drying like others.
Speaking of sparkle! I broke down and bought one of these stila eye metal shadows. HOLY GLITTER. This was an impulse/retail therapy purchase a few weeks ago and the shade I bought is pixiedust. A lot of you had mentioned them the last few months so I was anxious to try. It definitely has a ton of sparkle, but I love it. You know I love me some glitter. I’ll tap it on the center of my eyelid or use it in the inner corner. It comes with a little bottle of liquid stuff to help it adhere, but most of the time I don’t use that.
I’d really love to get the lavender and pink shades of this buuuuut… I so don’t need them.
Um, see how obsessed I’ve been with pink this month? Even on my eyes. I blame the Naked 3 palette for getting me back into this.
It’s an oldie but goodie, but this maybelline inked in pink color tattoo is awesome. I used it a bunch last year and they last forever – even though they are a cream shadow. I have to say, I like these better than the MAC paint pots. Other than I wish they came in more shades. But they last, they don’t dry out, they are somewhat moisturizing. When I use this, it’s usually all I’ll put on my eyes with lots of mascara.
I also used my MAC satin taupe a lot this month, speaking of oldies but goodies. Sometimes if I don’t use this on my eyelids, I’ll use it as liner underneath my eyes. It’s a cool-toned brown but tends to look very natural.
Nails always tend to be the first place where I start to bring the spring season. I can’t ever wait.
You’ve heard me ramble over the solar oil, but it is seriously KEY for my cuticles. I use it at least five times a day. More on this in a second.
The pop beauty shade is called mint magic and I bought it at ulta last summer. Remember my mint obsession? This was a product of that.
The sprinkle-looking shade is sephora formula x in demolition. Man. Sephora has RUINED me with their polishes. I adore them so much. They have every color under the sun. I need more nail polish like I need a hole in my head yet I want every color. And their glitters! Ugh.
Back to the solar oil for cuticles… it has been my saving grace combined with this elizabeth arden eight hour cream. This is an older product I’ve bought for a few years but it tends to get thrown in my nightstand drawer because the smell is HORRIFIC. Seriously. It’s terrible. And it’s not so much a cream as it is an orange tinted ointment.
BUT.
It is working miracles for my hand/nail area. Even though my skin is dry, oddly enough my hands don’t get dry like many of my friends’ do. I do still use a thick hand cream every night (my all-time favorite is aveeno skin relief) and this has been my only option since everything was gone. I will put the solar oil on my cuticles, read for a little bit, then use the eight hour cream on my hands. I fall asleep shortly afterwards so I don’t have to deal with the scent. This makes my cuticles like new every morning. It’s actually kind of crazy. I’m always surprised.
I’ve seen people compare it to vaseline but I find it to do more. I don’t use it on anything other than my hands, but if you look up reviews on this, it’s a crazy love or hate product and many people even use it on their face.
Onto more moisturizing things… coconut oil isn’t new to me but the things I’ve been doing with it this month have been. I don’t always use it all over my body because sometimes I can’t take the oily feeling. It will usually soak in after a few minutes, but I also tend to use too much and then feel like an oil slick. However, these are the things I’ve been doing:
1. I always moisturize after my shower, but with my skin being so nuts I took it up another level. At night I get out of the shower, pat dry, then use about two tablespoons of this all over my body (not my face at this time). No more. It will sink in within about 10 minutes. I then moisturize with the body shop body butter below. Um. Holy crap. No more itchy skin for me!
2. My scalp has been out of control dry. Like the worst it has even been. I’ve been using the coconut oil on patches of my scalp and it makes a HUGE difference.
3. I’ve been using it as a sleepover hair mask twice a week. I always the macadamia oil below when my hair is wet. But twice a week at night, I’ve been putting about two tablespoons of this on my dry hair (not on my scalp or roots), really working it in and piling my hair on top of my head or french braiding it. I sleep in it then wash it out in the morning or even later in the afternoon (depending on what I’m doing the next day.) It’s been awesome.
Another thing I keep mentioning but it’s making such a difference in my skin. These freaking body butters. !!!! The cocoa butter scent has stolen my heart. I want nothing else.
Still using the macadamia products. Still adoring them. Like I mentioned above, this is the oil I will put on my wet hair ends when I get out of the shower. This stuff… incredible. Can’t even tell you how many of these I’ve gone through. I need to just suck it up and buy the big one.
And lastly, another thing I keep mentioning but that I can’t get enough of. I’m almost through this Nest midnight fleur rollerball and the scent is so delicious. Do I really need to keep talking about it? LOVE.
Okay… you know the drill. Tell me what you’re loving! Are you dying over any new Spring things? I haven’t seen anything that I’ve really wanted to pick up yet, which is crazy to me. Nothing I’m overly excited for. Whomp whomp. Share away.
{as usual, none of this is sponsored and i am not affiliated with any of the companies mentioned. i’m just a total beauty junkie who loves to talk makeup. there are a few amazon affiliate links above. thanks for the love.}

Have you heard of the Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge? It’s pretty dang amazing…I bought it because I was seeing it on beauty videos and some swore it was just as good as the Beauty Blender, but waaaaay cheaper ($5.99). I kind of love it.
I also just tried out Mally’s Evercolor Poreless Face Defender as a finisher instead of the HD powders I usually use…it’s so weird! But it does seem to do the trick, mattifying and evening out pores. It seems to last all day, but I’ve only been using a few weeks, so I’m not sure if I’ll repurchase.
I also just got 2 more UD 24/7 liners in Empire and Loaded. I just love those things!
I am smitten with that Sephora glitter…so pretty!!
i have heard of the sponge but haven’t tried – i hear it’s identical to the beauty blender! when i need a new one, i’ll probably get that version. i looooove real tech brushes.
The year is 1/6th over. Crazy. Ditto to so so much of this! Coconut oil hair mask, Kenra blow dry spray, lip butters, the It CC cream, color tattoos!! Some of my favorites too. UD liners? The greatest ever. I bought 7 more during their F&F sale a few weeks ago. Mucho obsessed.
This month for me I loved theBalm’s Instain blushes in Lace and Swiss Dot, Clinique Plum Pop blush, It Cosmetics Bye Bye Undereye, L’Oreal Colour Riche balm in Heavenly Berry, Sonia Kashuk’s bronzer, Tarte’s Maracuja undereye cream, Beauty Protector Leave-in Spray (Birch Box find), Smashbox primer, and my beloved Kat Von D Saint palette…. amazing shimmery neutral shadows. Adore it.
You mean I’ve had the solution to my dry, itchy skin in my fridge this whole time??? Assuming my busted hot water heater gets fixed so that I can actually take a shower tomorrow morning, I’ll be bringing that jar of TJs coconut oil with me. Thanks for the tip!
I love the beauty posts!
I bought a deluxe sample set of sorts from Sephora over the holidays from Josie Maran, and I’ve been going through the products a little bit at a time. Sometimes it feels like a bit much to be using the face wash oil, hair oil, and argan oil in one night but I do think it’s been pretty good for my skin so far. I wish they had these sampler-type sets more often!
agreed, josie maran has the BEST sets!!
Ugh, love everything here. Still pissed about losing my Satin Taupe in my friend’s bedroom a week after I bought it (and then finding a week-old one in her makeup bag a week later despite her saying she didn’t find it…*shifty eyes*), but I think I need to reinvest. It’s just so versatile and pretty. I’m also majorly reobsessed with my Naked 1 eyeshadow palette, but seriously lusting over the Naked 3.
Also been wearing the death out of my Covergirl lipstick in Entwined. It looks like a scary too-dark purple-red color, but looks so gorgeous for a night out. Obsessed!
I always love these round ups, but I wish you would show us your makeup look sometimes! Like, makeup of the day, or a weekend look. It would be nice to see your different makeup looks, or even your outfits! :)
I agree! Show us how gorgeous these products look on you.
Is that what happened to the Josie Maran moisturizer? I’ve been wondering where it went – I love that stuff! Can’t wait until it comes back!
that’s what i’ve read… i sure hope it’s true!
I’ve been using coconut oil as body lotion lately, and one trick I’ve found is to put it on while my skin is still wet, then pat dry with a towel. I don’t have to use as much oil as I would on dry skin, and it seems to soak in and moisturize better.
Also, have you heard of Kari Gran skin care products? I was very skeptical of the oil cleansing thing at first, but after doing it for two months my skin looks and feels so much better!
I’m totally obsessed with coconut oil, too! I have really dry skin and it works wonders. So does olive oil! :) I find olive oil to be a bit longer-lasting.
Small typo in the list about coconut oil. First line of #3. Sorry to be annoying.
I don’t have any great products to recommend to you, but maybe next month! I decided this month that I hate all of my eye liners, and I”m on the hunt to find good ones. Oh, wait! I do have a good product! The benefit ‘they’re real!’ mascara. The only mascara that never clumps or smears for me. Pricey, but worth it. Do you wear mascara?
Can someone please teach me how to do the eye shadow under the eye thing? I feel like mine looks like smeared mascara, and I look like a mess. Could it be my almond eye shape?
Check out Mally Beauty’s Everlight Eyeliners… they are bulletproof and don’t go anywhere.
i use loreal voluminous mascara! have a love/hate relationship with they’re real.
I have had a beauty blender since the beginning of the new year and it is still sitting in its package unopened. The thought of wetting it down before use is too daunting and I am lazy! I love Satin Taupe, it is a classic indeed.
Right now I am totally in love with Real Teachniques brushes. They are super cheap at Ulta and really work well. They have changed my life when it comes to applying foundation, concealer and bronzer. The retractable bronzer brush I thought was unnecessary but I bought it anyway due to a great sale. I LOVE IT! It applies bronzer so well in the right spots and I don’t look bronzed out. I also cannot get enough of Naked Flushed. I didn’t think I really needed it b/c I liked the blush and bronzer I was using previously. I am addicted to it and so glad I didn’t talk myself out of it.
Oof I hear you about dry skin—and I also swear by my Beauty Blender to apply BB cream everyday. My secret weapon to keep skin really plump and hydrated is pre-moisturizing serum. I’ve been using Hydraluron (imported from Canada via eBay—if you don’t ready Caroline Hirons’s blog, google it immediately) but I also just bought the Body Shop Aloe serum and it’s great. Then, follow with Embryolisse because my skin loves it. Top it all off with Boscia Beauty Oil every morning to keep flakes from showing up. I’ve had the same tiny testing size for about 6 months and I’m not even halfway through.
This month, I have my eye on the Nars Matte Multiples. Just give me a reason to buy one, and I will.
Dry skin and hair is so my problem too. Have you tried the Boots Body Butters at Target? They have a bunch of scents but they are all pretty mild and I find them even thicker and more hydrating than the Body Shop ones. For undereyes, I’ve been shifting between the Kiehl’s Avocado Cream and Burt’s Bee Intense Hydration Eye Cream, which is cheap and really good. I am in love with the Naked 3 palette right now. I like to put the darker colors in the crease and MAC Vapor on the lid. Too much great makeup out there! But I think it’s a healthy addiction.
i haven’t tried those yet but someone (maybe you?) mentioned them last month! i plan on getting one as soon as this one is finished!
If those Maybelline Color Tattoos made matte shades I’d be all over that. I think I already own every color (even cobalt blue, who do I think I am?) but I’m craving some matte versions!
The Josie Maran Coconut Cheek Gelees! Holy grail cheek tint. If you are liking lollitint the cool-toned pink one (Pink Escape) is AMAZING. They last seriously all day and they go on really nicely. Also I have used it on my lips and it even tastes kind of nice.
i have one of these in a reddish shade – poppy maybe?? i do really like it!
i got the It Cosmetics CC cream on impulse today, so I’m glad to hear you like it so much! I will definitely be getting a beauty blender to use with it!
I’m still loving Too Faced bronzer in “snow bunny”– it’s seriously perfect for fair (let’s be real, pale) skin! Also loving Tarte’s Maracuja C-Brighter eye treatment and, weirdly enough, some of the Royal Apothic scents that Anthropologie is carrying right now. I’m looking to get my hands on the korres Greek yogurt night cream and Josie Maran’s coconut water gel blushes soon!
Korres lip butter is one of my favs! I am not obsessed with the idea of the metal eyeshadow and need it in my life asap!
The Burt’s Bees Body Butter (Honey & Shea) is awesome for day and night. Its not too think/sticky to put on in the morning before getting dressed. I love it.
for ever I’ve been hooked on baby oil after my shower….used to use Neutrogena Sesame Oil….but…..baby oil is CHEAP and comes unscented (add your own fragrance) or it comes in lovely soft natural scents. After my shower while still drippy wet/before toweling off apply a few drops….like a nickel or dime’s worth in total…then…pat dry. It takes seconds to do. Skin feels silky smooth…never greasy.
Long (LONG!) time reader here. Love your recipes and your beauty favorites!
I love this! So many great products! I have been really itchy this winter so I want to try the coconut oil/body butter combo & see if that helps me!!
Kristin
Crumbs & Curls
Why just you do this to me when I’m throwing a party on Saturday? Now I have to put, “go to Sephora” on my list.
I la-la-love kiehl’s ultra facial cream. Best night moisturizer ever.
I forgot to post on your Wednesday random facts post. I love all things make up! But, tragically, I’m allergic to anything and everything made to go on your lips. The only exception being straight up Vaseline. I am constantly in sephora testing out different products, so hopeful I will find something! I walk around for 5 mins with glossed up lips, feeling oh so glam, then it race to the nearest tissue station to get it off ASAP because i can’t take the burning. Sad but true. I live in envy of your fab lip colors :)
How I look forward to these posts every month!
It’s been years since I’ve used the MAC satin taupe..,
thanks for reminding me how much I loved it. I absolutely
swear by the Armani Maestro foundation. Pricey,
but you only need a tiny bit. So lightweight and amazing
coverage. Love my beauty blender but very intrigued
by this 5.99 knockoff! Pining for the Naked 3 palette
but can’t justify the purchase yet…but did splurge on a
new Naked lip gloss in Rule. Very light and pretty.
The Ahava body butter in Fig Hibiscus scent is so heavenly
and super silky on my skin. On sale at Ulta recently.
And victor and Rolf Flowerbomb perfume…from my
husband for Valentines Day. Heavier scent than I usually
do but so gorgeous!!!
We like to see the products you are using, because we want to prove different brands. Thanks for sharing and nice weekend! Today a new video in our blog!
http://inatrendytown.blogspot.com.es
…..and once again I must thank you. Dropped $150 online Sephora shopping & not even out of bed yet. Your Nest rollerball love got me started. I’ll just tell The Man it’s my online imaginary BFF fault.
I hear such great things about the It Cosmetics CC Cream! And I love me some coconut oil!
I always look forward to this post, but it makes me want to spend my entire paycheck at Sephora! I am love with the Body Shop Cocoa Butter, the smell is amazing! I went to Ulta looking for a new face mask, my usual was just not cutting it this winter, and the sales associate talked me into a Dermologica hydrating mask. I am happy with it and like to leave it on overnight once a week. I LOVE my revlon matte balm stick in sultry! It Doesn’t make my lips feel dry and the pop of color is fun, but not too over the top for work. Lastly I picked up my first “spring” nailpolish the other day. I too have a nailpolish problem, but it’s just so fun, and each color is just a little different than the last one, and I just can’t help myself! I bought Essie Tart Deco and it makes me want to go to the beach…like yesterday. This winter has been brutal.
Thank you for the Josie Maran moisturizer update! I used my first bottle last year (loved it) and have been rationing my second (as in, not wearing it on cloudy days). Glad to hear it’s coming back soon!
I have been a Caudalie user (a variety of their products – moisturizers, eye creams, serums, body scrubs, detoxifying teas, etc., eta., etc.) for almost 10 years. I honestly think that their products are THE best for my skin (which is all around “normal”). I swear their anti-aging products are working because people think I am a good bit younger than I actually am (YAY!). Off and on, I’ve experimented with different brands, and nothing comes close to the results I get from Caudalie.
Josie Maran has become my go-to for makeup. A few years back, I made a New Year’s resolution to only use products on my skin that are cruelty free and plant-based products (luckily, Caudalie was), so I had to start searching for new cosmetics. It took a LONG time to find makeup that I liked and finally, FINALLY, I found Josie Maran’s line. Her Matchmaker Serum Foundation is a dream! The only thing I am having a really hard time finding that is cruelty free that I like is mascara…still hunting for the perfect one.
P.S. That Caudalie grape water mist is AMAZING to spritz on your skin when it is 90-something-hot-humid-sticky-July. It is the most refreshing thing.
Thanks to your beauty posts, I’ve become aware of (and obsessed with!0 the Kenra blowdry spray. I hit the jackpot on it last month on Ulta. The leftover pink bottles from breast cancer awareness month were on clearance for $15! Why yes, I will clear out your stock of those. $7 off is nothing to sneeze at.
Over the holidays, Costco had Lalalicious brand of coconut body butter cream. It’s some amazing stuff. The texture is a little bit thicker than the Trader Joe’s version, but it’s not greasy like some body butters tend to be, My Costco sadly doesn’t have the body butters any longer, but they do have a sugar scrub now. It leaves my skin feeling so smooth. I believe it’s made in the US and also cruelty free, so major bonuses there!
Also, the best makeup setting spray I’ve ever used is Model In A Bottle. It’s slightly sticky when it sprays on, but after it dries, my face is smooth and not sticky. I live in Florida, where the humidity is about 1,000 degrees in the summer and as soon as I step foot outside the A/C on a typical afternoon, I can feel all my makeup just sliding off my face so the Model In A Bottle truly is a lifesaver. The Urban Decay spray has been decent for the winter, but as soon as the weather warms up, I know I’ll be back to the Model spray.
I’ve been hearing so much about the Beauty Blender. I’m sure I will try it one day.
And the cuticle oil…I have some but I never use it. I change polish frequently and live in a dry climate…I need to develop the habit.
Great minds. I actually just wrote a post about my top 5 product favorites today. (I love your beauty posts by the way)
http://www.thetinynow.com/2014/02/28/friday-finds-beauty/
With dry skin, I think you might LOVE that REN cleanser I mention. It’s VERY moisturizing. Spendy but a little goes a long way. The sephora cuticle oil is pretty nice too (I’m a knitter and my hands get SUPER dry).
So… this may seem weird, but just thought I’d offer anyhow: Per your love of the Josie Maran daily moisturizer last summer, I decided to give it a try (esp. since it has SPF!), but after using it for a few days, my face just didn’t like me! I’m pretty much allergic to anything new/different/scented, you name it, so I went back to my tried + true Plain Jane Cetaphil. I’ve slowly been adding in Kiehl’s products (the avocado eye cream + now creme de corps, too) per your suggestion, + surprisingly, my skin is loving them!
Anyhow, I know how much you love the Josie Maran stuff, + my bottle has just been hanging out in our bathroom closet, completely full minus about 6 squirts. Even though I can’t use it, I can’t bring myself to get rid of it, because it wasn’t exactly cheap. I’ve been trying to think of someone who could make good use of it, + it sounds like you certainly would! I know it probably seems like a strange offer, but hey, I figure you’ve provided us with a gazillion great dinners, etc. over the last few years, so the least I could do was offer! Shoot me an email if you’re interested. =]
My favorite thing for my dry hands lately has been the Weleda skin food. Seriously, so good that I can put it on a couple of times one day and then skip the next day and my skin won’t be flaking off. Plus, it smells good and isn’t terribly expensive. I ordered mine through Amazon! Have you tried a cleansing oil for your face? Have I already asked you that? I’ve been using the Sephora brand one and it makes my face feel really smooth and balanced. Also, I’ve been using the Neutrogena retinol day and nighttime moisturizers and they absorb so fast and make my skin all glowy. I’m kind of loving them. I am head over heels for the Revlon lash potion mascara-for me, a false lash effect, seriously. Also, I finally got around to trying out the new Maybelline color elixir glosses and they’re so beautiful. I hate how glosses rub off so much quicker than lipstick, but when your lips are dry, it’s a necessary evil. They feel so nice on the lips and have such a great color payoff!
I have to agree with Emily R. If you use the coconut oil on your skin while IN the shower (post shave) and then towel off it makes a huge difference.
I love your posts and round ups! I always learn about new products I want to try. I have been using cc cream for a few months and love the feeling and coverage. I have been using the cc cream from smash box and would highly recommend. Ps: coconut oil is great. I also use it after bathing.
I never knew that you could use the coconut oil that you cook with to moisturize skin. Interesting. Great products.
I have been loving Origins Checks and Balances face wash followed by a very light layer of A Perfect World moisturizer. The combination has really kept my T-zone oil in check while moisturizing my few dry patches under my eyes and above my eyebrows. The Tarte Amazonian Clay foundation is amazing as well! I love that it has good coverage but it doesn’t make me greasy! I’ve loved my Naked 3 palette, and a liquid eyeliner felt tip from NYC that was only $4. I haven’t tried the Stila one but I imagine it’s comparable based on reviews. I love the Nest Midnight Fleur as well, and recently tried Thymes Kimono Rose which is similarly sweet, but a little lighter for spring. Just had a garage sale so my beauty fund has been replenished! Yes!
Love the beauty blender but I hate having to wash it…I never feel like I’m cleaning it properly and I have the special soap. Wah wah. Anyways! I caught a video from Lisa Eldridge and her spiel on facials…and I have to say, I’m obsessed now. I bought the Dermalogica multi-vitamin booster (it comes in a silver tube)…used it once and OMG. I loved the way my skin felt after taking it off. I hope it turns into a regular product! I am still on the hunt for the perfect moisturizer for my dry/sensitive skin…I’ve been trying to use up the last of my Jason’s Vitamin C Moisturizer, which is actually pretty good and smells lovely. :)
In addition to skin products, I have been trying to drink plenty of water to help keep my skin moisturized. B/c DUH I always forget that’s the best way! Also, an air humidifier works wonders!! I’ve gotten a few Morgan Taylor polishes and really like them. I love to use Kevin Murphy hair products.
I am LOVING the Elizabeth & James Nirvana White. Totally, totally obsessed. Moisturizer-wise, my Korres Wild Rose crapped out on me and left me with huge dry patches. I’m talking quarter-sized dry patches. I switched to a $10 Olay moisturizer from the grocery store (it was dire) and it fixed my skin almost overnight… I think that has more to do with how bad the Korres is than how good the Olay is. Last but not least, I’ve been using the Urban Decay 24/7 concealer pencil for the past month and I’m IN LOVE. Best concealer I’ve ever used. It pretty much melts right into my skin and doesn’t leave hideous lines behind. Love!!
Late to the party but this is my fav monthly blog post so I wanted to share! New this month to me is rode de Chloe perfume which is definitely a splurge but I am just so obsessed and someone told me i reminded them of being in Hawaii while wearing it so that sounds good to me. Also I got a sample of bare minerals mascara and it is amazing! Seriously very non clumping, clean and precise. It’s perfect for a daytime mascara when you want it to be simple and not extra volumed out of control. Also so glad to hear about the Josie moisturizer right before they sold out I bought 4 of the mini bottles and I just opens my last one!! Also did you get a clarisonic yet? Curious what your thoughts are!!
yes! i’ve had a clarisonic for 2 years. love it. use it everyday!
So many things to add to my “to buy” list! The CND Solar Oil has been on my wishlist for months, but I’ve never gotten around to getting it..my cuticles have been rough lately though so I think I’m definitely overdue!
Did you see that Maybelline is releasing a bunch of limited edition color tattoos for spring? Lots of neutrals and bronzy colors. They look fantastic.
I’m really loving Bumble & Bumble Pret a Powder. It’s my favorite dry shampoo and super travel friendly. I’ve used it for the past 3ish months and it feels like the bottle is still full! Also, Tarte Maracuja Oil is making my skin look and feel sooo good. I use it every night. Had to spring for the big bottle!
Winter is just killing my skin. I’ve been using Clinique moisture surge for years because I’m super dry and a bit sensitive. I swear by it. Can’t use anything else. I also love their city block, it’s a tinted sunscreen. Love. My newest thing for this past month has been Clinique redness relief powder. I think I have rosacea because for the past 6+ months my nose is bright red and irritated. This powder really helps and people no longer ask me “what’s wrong?” When I’m all red.
Longtime lurker and I adore you … But I gotta say, it BLOWS MY MIND how much product you use and how fast you go through it! It’s kind of cool, but WOWZA. Don’t mind me, I’m just a stayathomemommyto3boysunder4. I’m the gal who LOVES reading about cosmetics and products and … takes FOREVER to use up anything, has six lip products in her purse, and has kleenex stashed everywhere like a Grandma. The end!
I’m a lover of Caudalie but for some reason had not known about the grape spray, I went out and got it yesterday!!! Love it! Thank you for the fun and whimsical writing, it brightens my day!!
