Tuesday Things.
1. Bet you don’t know which one is mine. By the way, my husband layers his froyo. Like gets some froyo, adds some toppings, more froyo, more toppings, and so on. And you thought my cup was trashed up. (it so is.)
2. This blood orange gin and tonic. Making me crave summer even more.
3. Also, please serve me this crispy coconut french toast with cherries and dark chocolate. That just kills me.
4. So, I cannot get over the Malaysia plane disappearance. I hate using the word “fascinated” because it doesn’t seem appropriate in a tragedy, but that is the best word I can use to describe my mind on it. It’s pretty much all I will talk to Eddie about and the minute I wake up in the morning or heck, even from a nap, I’m all “have they found the plane? what’s going on with the plane?!” I can’t even fathom being a family waiting for answers. My heart is breaking. I can’t stop flipping out over this. Like where is it? Why is this not being covered in the media 24/7?!
5. On a completely unrelated superficial note, I shared this on facebook last week but it’s THAT good: according to pinterest, crimped hair is making a comeback. I might die of happiness. I hope it’s for real.
6. Oh and since I’m stuck in 1986 you should also know that two days ago I bought a pair of STIRRUP PANTS. I mean, they are legit. From Victoria’s Secret. Like yoga pants. But you know.
7. The internet has made me grammatically challenged. So much so that I had to google that word.
8. I’m sure you need a bad example in your life today, so I’ll tell you that this week kicks off another one of ulta’s 21 days of beauty.
9. I thought that Walking Dead was SO insanely good this week and can we talk about what an amazing actress Melissa McBride is? And how crazy gorgeous she is with that hair? If you saw her on the Talking Dead… so pretty. How are there only two episodes left? It doesn’t make sense. I also still don’t understand why everyone is freaking out about how scary/sad/whatever it can be. That’s kind of the whole point. It’s not going to get better and I doubt there will be a happy ending, ever – right? And um, three seconds into Girls, I needed to cover my eyes (and ears). But I want to be best friends with Elijah. And record the Hannah work scene forever and ever to tell my future children NEVER DO THIS.
10. Oh one more TV thing, you know how Sandra Oh is leaving Grey’s? Then I saw that they are bringing Burke back? I am having a heartichoke that they are killing her off. Just no. I mean, why else would Burke come back? Just end the show. Why do I not even care about this show and then get sucked back in come Spring? I hate my emotional investment.
11. I’m debating whether it would be inappropriate to paint my nails in public today while I wait for my car to be inspected. Is this crossing the line?
63 Comments on “Tuesday Things.”
I saw a girl with crimped hair last week when I picked Joe up from school. Also, I hated stirrup pants when I was a child. They were so uncomfortable! Maybe because my legs were too long?
this would explain why i love them. because i have the shortest legs in the universe.
Aaaaahhh… me too! I’m 5’10” and they would never stay in place. So, I’d be that girl with stirrups at her ankles. ugh.
I say, go ahead and paint them!
Layering froyo that is kind of a brilliant idea and now I feel the need to get froyo and try this out…
Just had some coconut macadamia nut french toast for breakfast mmmm! I so want to make the recipe above at home!
I would love stirrup pants for my knee boots…just sayin’.
My grammar is terrible, never did well with it in school.
Also the plane thing, I had to fly the next and of course all the airport TVs had it on…my anxiety was really great that day…NOT. It just seems so crazy that a plane could just disappear, like how?! The poor families, don’t even know how they are dealing with this, no way I could.
Where is all the Nashville commentary??
I KNOW. so i am still crazy loving nashville, but i feel that is moves so quickly. never did i ever think i’d want more suspense. deacon and his girl don’t have chemistry, rayna and luke don’t have that much chemistry – i’m interested in will’s storyline and love avery! i just don’t have much to say about it right now! i’m hoping they rev it up in the next few weeks for sweeps. ;)
heart artichoke. hehe
Lol I would say hold off on the nail painting only bc I’ve been busted for it twice. Once while on a plane (oops) & once while waiting for my tires to be changed. Apparently people get QUITE angry at the scent of nail polish outside a salon
this is my thought as well.
On Grey’s Anatomy, I hear that Dr. Christina Yang (Sandra Oh) will end up getting locked up in the basement of the hospital and die from a horrible spreading disease and come back as a Walker! You gotta watch it! Ha,ha,ha! And that last TWD episode is a sad one,my big brother cried!
HA!
YES. THE WALKING DEAD. ugh.. Melissa McBride. I think this episode might have shot her to my top 3 favs, behind glenn and Maggie. man, I hope these at least get to see each other again.
also.. I feel THE EXACT SAME WAY about greys. I was SO OVER IT and wasn’t excited for this season to pick back up.. and then while watching last episode, I was like “wait, Sandra oh is leaving. I forgot! how are they gonna do it?!?!” ugh. so much emotional investment going on.
Why have I never thought to layer my froyo??
I’m obsessed with the plane crashing. i cannot believe it’s still missing. So sad. True story: My dad was on a Malaysian Airline flight two weeks before this disappearance and said it was the worst airline he’s ever flown. When I heard the news I was so thankful my dad wasn’t on that flight. Cried for a day thinking of all the “what ifs”.
are you kidding me?! chills.
I’m also obsessing over this plane thing, and I hate not knowing. Where are these people? Where is this plane? How is there not a single trace?
agree agree agree.
I TOO am freaking over the lost plane. How have they not found it? How are they not talking about it all day?
Hee, heart artichoke!
Saw this and immediatly thought of you (I am sure you have seen it or have been sent this several times by now, because I am so last-year!)
http://tinyurl.com/mghfyh4
i had to pretty much handcuff myself so i would not purchase this (or the shoes) online when they came out.
I have seen FAR WORSE in public than nail painting. Everything from nose picking to diaper changing to well, other things. Car inspection fumes are far worse than nail polish fumes. Knock yourself out :)
For real. I was on a tiny plane and one lady was flossing her teeth in her seat. All I could imagine was little bits of food being flung into the air. Gross.
I’m so used to nail polish fumes from my own nail polish addiction that I didn’t even think that people wouldn’t like that smell in public!
No one at work wants to spend their entire day with me talking about the fact that a plane has DISAPPEARED! So I am compensating for the lack of attention by emailing and gchatting with a friend across the country who is equally fascinated.

I know the article is 5 days old now but it blew my mind.
I look forward to reading your Tuesday Things. I enjoy every single one! Also, I shouldn’t admit this, but I have previously made a ‘quick trip’ to the bathroom in a public place just to throw on a fast coat of nail polish. I’m sure people wondered why the stall at the end didn’t smell normal. Oops!
I totally wore stirrup pants and I am totally beyond obsessed and fascinated with the missing plane and you can absolutely paint your nails while waiting for your car. In fact, my car dealerships provides free manicures while I wait for my oil change so I guess it is an already accepted way to pass time.
I am having a hard time understanding how an airplane carrying 200+ passengers disappears. Blows my mind and breaks my heart at the same time.
Also, someone at work just (as in today) asked me if I had heard of the plane disappearing. What?! *Shaking my head*
Finger nails are cool to paint….toe nails whole ‘nother story
Please just no to any personal grooming in public. I can’t even handle it when someone files their nails or brushes their hair. Some things are better left behind closed doors.
I wake up every morning and refresh my browser cause it’s got a specific tab open for the Malaysia Airlines news. I still can’t come to grips with how they haven’t found it yet and how they have ALL these random speculations and then turn up with nothing. Gahh it’s driving me crazy and I honestly cannot imagine the families. Oh, and I’m flying to Taiwan in early April and this news came a month before our flight sooo I’m kind of freaking out on the inside. Like majorly. Xanax times seven for me.
I owned a crimper in high school (2004-2008) and I currently have stirrup leggings and have since probably 2008.
I think that both are still acceptable now. Just not sure why the supply and demand is finally resurfacing!!!!
The plane ‘fascinates’ me too. I’m just completely baffled by how it could happen. I feel like it’s “Lost” (though I never watched that show) come to life.
Crimped hair!! And stirrup pants!! I’m down for both those trends.
I have been known to paint my nails in odd places. I say go for it!
I trash up my froyo just like your husband….in fact, i had it for dinner Sunday night! hahaha
It didn’t even cross my mind that they would be killing off Christina!! I’m thinking that Burke is going to come back, they would reunite, and she would leave with him to live happily ever after in his universe.
I have been so sad about the plane as well, so heartbreaking for the family and terrifying for the passengers. It’s been on my mind a lot.
As for the Walking Dead, I mean…there are way worse things that happen on tv to young people all the time (ahem, crime dramas, Law and Order SVU I’m looking at you). I liked the episode, it was full of emotional conflict–plus Melissa McBride and Chad Coleman did such an amazing job!
I gave up Grey’s long time ago. But i will definitely look into Walking Dead. “Heart artichoke” made me laugh so hard!!!! Thank you!
I like your husband’s froyo style. I totally layer it up too! PS. One of my pet peeves is people who go for froyo and have a wee little portion of yogurt with a little spoonful of fruit on top.I mean, come on! Live a little. I can only go for froyo with other trashy froyo eaters!
I totally never thought of layering toppings and froyo! I usually mix it all together in my cup and gross people out. I’ve painted my nails in class before. No one really cared, but the smell is quite strong and possibly unpleasant to some.
Are they seriously killing off Christina? I’m crying. Why have I not hear this??!
haha omg! no! don’t listen to me, i don’t know anything. i mean, she is definitely leaving the show – she announced it in the fall. and i am just assuming that will happen because grey’s does terrible things to people’s emotions and last week it was reported that burke is coming back “for her departure.” whatever that means.
OMG I’m dying over the plane thing too! It’s like, did seeing LOST ruin everybody for the real thing?! Because it doesn’t seem that big of a deal on TV! And yet…do you remember LOST?! I was flipping out at even the thought and now it’s real?!
OMG stirrup pants?! I used to have to get those bc the full footed leggings and tights would drive me insane during childhood gymnastics and ballet, so I’d get the stirrup ones! Its so hilarious that these things are rolling around again!
AND what color are you going to paint them?!
Wait. No, I mean, wait just a minute. Sandra Oh is leaving? How did I not know this? She is at least 89% of the reason I watch the show still. Sigh.
I think this week’s episode of The Walking Dead was one of the best ever! Obviously one of the worst ever also, but they kind of go hand in hand. So intense! It’s funny I was just thinking how Elijah is the least traumatic character on Girls right now and how I would totally want to be friends with him and have him over for dinner.
Umm I’m glad other people are as “fascinated” by this plane disappearance as I am! I mean how does a plane just vanish? Is that even possible in this day in age? And why is the world not as concerned as they should be for those poor people?!
And Jess, I just want to tell you how much I adore your blog and can always count on it for a laugh or dose of honesty! It makes me smile every day! And, oh, umm your food is also to die for!
Layering frozen yogurt…genius….I am totally trying it.
OMG so Girls! I am only mid season 2 but my husband was being very sweet and turned it on, Sunday night. Holy Moly, Hannah at work LOL. I completely want to be best friends with Elijah. The last 5 minutes were INSANE. I was losing it while they were watching Marnie sing. I seriously can not handle Shosh sometimes she cracks me up….Then Ray and Marnie..like i said I am only half way through season 2. I seriously almost lost it. I would have totally reacted like Hannah.
I think I’m one of the few people that wasn’t totally rattled by Walking Dead this week. I have heart attacks when they’re clearing houses and walking into dark hallways. Offing two pain in the ass characters is a blessing! Besides think of how free Tyreese feels now – I’m sure he wasn’t really into being the white girl daycare provider. I just want to see Rick and Michonne again… enough already!!
Oh and did you see on Talking Dead that the mice Lizzie was feeding to the walker were fake edibles and filled with jelly! Haha
I’ve painted my nails in the airport before. I’m sure everyone loved me. hey, a busy girl’s gotta take the time when she can get it!
I’m obsessed with the missing Malaysia Airlines plane too. I was listening to a Stuff You Should Know podcast about black boxes on the weekend though & they talked about an Air France flight that crashed in 2009 where it took them TWO YEARS to find the main part of the plane wreckage & retrieve the black box – and that plane emitted emergency signals & they knew roughly which area it was (and I think they saw some debris from the plane 5 days after it crashed). So I guess it could be a really long time before we know what happened, if we ever do! I feel so bad for the families, must be so hard to not know what happened & to be holding out hope that they could have somehow survived.
I would seriously paint my nails while waiting to get my car inspected, just saying;)
i was definitely the stirrup-pants-stopped-at-ankle girl from the 80’s/90’s. sigh. also, last night I ordered my first pair of harem pants. i’ve hated them forever but just started obsessing over them in the past few months. i’m officially regressing in life.
They’re killing Christina off?!?! I haven’t watched since April’s almost wedding so apparently I have a lot to catch up on! Also, I thought the show was supposed to end in 2011. That’s what I was always told and I figured it would be ok because that’s when I graduated college but no they’re really dragging it on aren’t they?
Really interesting perspective about the plane sitch! http://www.wired.com/autopia/2014/03/mh370-electrical-fire/
crimped hair… yes please. I can’t believe that still haven’t found that plane. I hope its not a repeat of that air France flight that took 2 years to locate.
I’ve seen recent pictures (w/in the last month) of Sarah Jessica Parker in stirrup pants/tights. The first thing I thought was “SJP is totally going to make stirrup pants a thing this year.” Sign me up.
On a serious note, I am right there with you on the missing Malaysia flight. I can’t seem to wrap my head around how this happened, why this happened and how awful it must be for the families involved. I don’t know, at this point, if there will ever be answers as to who did this and why. It’s heartbreaking.
The one thing no one in the media or anywhere else has brought up about the plane is the passengers cell phone signals. Has anyone tried to find them with that? Also, if they have landed, and everyone is still alive, why has no one called their family? I realize if this is terrorists, they probably took the cell phones and destroyed them, but I’m surprised no one has brought this up. I can’t EVEN imagine what these families are going through. I, too, wake up every morning and watch the news to see if they’ve found it. Then I watch the Evening News at 6:30 to see if there’s any updates. So damned sad.
Without knowing what a ‘froyo’ is its was obvious which was yours.
Also I don’t know what ‘the walking dead’ except that it’s a TV series. Same with ‘girls’?
The plane loss is awful. Souls on the plane which I feel may still be whole and families who are terrified of what has happened to their loved ones.
Crimped! Are we talking about ‘clamps’ British English that make waves? I was thinking of that months ago when I started to grow my hair. Also those comb things that hold up loose
hairs or hold it behind ears. They’ve disappeared where I live.
Stirrup used to hurt under my instep and I’m not tall. I was 5’4″ but less now as I’ve shrunk with age! I asked my well over 6′ son if he’d grown, at age 43, and he said no mum. You’ve shrunk! :'(
I’m sure I’ve bored you to tears dear ladies. Mucho apologies.
I always layer the froyo and the toppings. How else do you get a bite of each all the way down!? Mine is always like heath bar or peanut butter cups or oreo. so good, now I have to go get it today.
I am also very obsessed with the Malaysian plane story, too. I have not watched/read the news is many, many years (ignorance is bliss and I think my mind paints a much scarier picture of the world so it’s not like I’m being naive), but every now and then a story will come along that will catch my attention and this is it right now. I agree, how is this not being covered all day. What is happening??
Interesting theory about Grey’s. I’ll be PISSED if she’s killed off. That show makes me so angry most of the time, but I’ve been with it since day 1. That s a lie. I watched the first 2 seasons in a dvd marathon. Then watched them all over again immediately when I convinced my husband he needed to watch, too. Ha! I thought perhaps she would leave WITH Burke. I understand why he was removed from the show, but they were always so good together.
God, I remember being in grade school and fixing my wet hair up into tiny little braids at night so it would be super crimped in the morning. Those were the days. I totally do that froyo layering thing too! I’m usually too lazy, but when I go all out, it’s awesome.
I kind of like the whole layering parfait fro yo style. I always spread my toppings all over the top so I have even distribution. Definitely skill.
I’m glad you agree with me on The Walking Dead! I feel weird saying it, but I thought it was an amazingly beautiful episode. The storyline, the characters, the dialogue, the way it HAD to end….all of it was just…amazing. I can’t stop thinking about it.
