Tuesday Things.
1. I go through phases where I rediscover the chocolate chewies at whole foods. You can guess where I’m at right now.
2. This peanut butter cup cheesecake. Ummm. Would you believe it’s dairy free? It’s look so DECADENT.
3. I’m in a semi-vegetable eating mood because we are grilling them. This will last approximately 13 more days before I’m over it for all of summer and only want grilled corn and grilled romaine and all the burgers in the universe.
4. Do you guys do stitch fix or any other “shopping” subscription box? I don’t. I can’t get on board. Because let’s be real… I really love to shop. No secret. I always have. I always will. I don’t need more clothing  than I already find and I actually like picking things out, regardless of how horrific some of my choices are. Is there another reason to be doing one of those monthly things? Because I just don’t think it’s for me.
5. Is it neon nail painting season yet? I’m ready.
6. Have you seen this performance from Britain’s Got Talent from the two kids who were bullied when they were younger? I bawled.
7. Oh my gosh. I’m about to rant like crazy over TV. I HATED (with a capital H) the Grey’s finale. HATED. I know I know. I bitch about it every week so I just shouldn’t even watch. I didn’t like that it wasn’t very dedicated to Cristina. I did like how the incident showed what a disaster media is, because during a crisis they are ridiculous. Oh and the ending. Don’t even get my started. Don’t you think that if you’re going to revisit a storyline from ten years ago (i.e. breaking a couple apart) that means the show should end? Yes. It does. What else. Freaking loved Mad Men this week. Want to watch it a million times. Oh and I randomly watched Captain Phillips on HBO and it almost gave me a heart attack. Um how could I forget Nashville?! OMG. So I was fairly happy with the finale, even though it was a bit “soapy.” I like Luke but Deacon… wow that man speaks with his eyes! I love him as an actor. I hope they keep Avery and Juliette together. I don’t care about Scarlet and Gunnar being together. Okay I’m done.
8. Ok. 17 things people born in the 80s are experiencing. I know I share a million of these but #12. Yeah.
9. Today I saw the biggest spider of my life. I am absolutely scarred forever.

Those chocolate chewies…such a huge problem. Mercifully, half the time when I go into a Whole Foods (I prefer Wexford to the city one) I can’t seem to locate them. But I’ve seriously taken trips exclusively for the chewies and then had to purchase other things to make it seem less like I’m a nut ball with a sugar addiction.
been there. done that.
but what about NASHVILLE?
omg how could i forget?! i added my thoughts in!
I’ve done Stitch Fix a couple of times and have liked the results. It’s nice because I live in a pretty rural area in Wisconsin so my shopping choices are not great and they have cute things that I’ve never seen before. The only downside is that some of the items, even on the “cheaper” end of their scale, are still pretty pricey. No way I’m spending $90 on a long sleeve t-shirt, I don’t care how cute it is. But I’ve kept some fun jewelry and a cool sweater.
I always crack up laughing when I read your Tuesday things. We have a similar cookie in Canada, I can’t buy them, or I eat the whole box. I gave up on Grey’s awhile ago, apparently it’s a good thing. every season is neon Nail Polish season!
you are so right.
Grilled pizza counts as a vegetable, right? Since it has tomato sauce and wheat, and those are both plants. I say yes. Which means that I am ALL about grilled vegetables, always and forever.
#9!! I am so with you. My boyfriend went to take out the trash last night and i heard him say OH MY GOD COME SEE THIS!!! And I did. And I wish I hadn’t. The spider was HUGE. I will not tell you the various large spider scenarios my brain has conjured up since then but they are many and they are terrifying. I’m not even that afraid of spiders in normal spider sizes!
Get the flourless chocolate cookie from Starbucks. You’ll die.
There’s a flourless cookie at STARBUCKS?!?! I had NO idea!! Now I have to go! NOW
what the what? my life is now over.
I second Niki – what about NASHVILLE!!!!
i’m an idiot and forgot! added my thoughts in. ;)
I’ve done stitch fix a few (four) times. Love it, love everything about it. 1) you get mail, I’m obsessed with mail (the good stuff, not bills), then you get a perfectly curated box of things just for you to play dress up in, using the outfit ideas cards enclosed. Keep what you want, return what you don’t. Genius. I must start my fixes again…
i love this reasoning!
Uh, I cried for about 2 hours after the BGT boys. They’re my age as well.. wink wink!
I LOVE Stitch Fix! Love getting the mail and trying things on in my own apartment (with my own well-lit mirrors versus crappy store ones) and with other items I own to really style a piece and see if it’s something I want to buy. You have a few days to decide whether you want to keep something so you don’t make the split dressing room decision then end up not liking it (and it you’re me, say you’re going to return it, but you never do). I have also found that I end up trying on and loving things that I would have NEVER picked out for myself in the store. I love going to the mall and shopping as much as the next gal, but I love the added fun that Stitch Fix adds to the mix.
Just watched that video of the British kids singing. Wow… that was intense. That took so much courage! Thx for sharing. :D
I so don’t do stitch fix or anything like it! I love to shop, I can barely order clothing via the internet because it removes my experience in the stores. I am totally ready for neon nail polish. I would love to bring back the neon bike shorts that I used to wear with the smiley face airbrushed neon t shirts in the late 80’s and early 90’s.
Um Greys. I hadn’t watched in two years. So I caught up. Yes, I caught up JUST to see how Cristina’s character would play out. WFT?! I don’t get it. What about Owen? What about Meredith and Derrick? I don’t get it. I don’t like it. Am I stupid? Ugh I hate this.
Did you find the spider in your romaine lettuce? ;)
Also, #12 is so accurate (those thoughts go through my head 24/7) but you already know since I whine to you constantly.
So i subscribe to Stitch Fix and absolutely love it!! I actually just got my 4th shipment yesterday and am already wearing one of the pieces! I find that the styles they provide are things i either wouldn’t normally buy, or are really cool and different. Don’t get me wrong, i looooove to shop, but i thought this would be a fun little thing to do, plus it’s always exciting when that box comes with a fun surprise inside! :)
StitchFix: agree with everything you said. Plus (please don’t hurt me SF lovers) everything I see people posting from their boxes is just FUG. And keeping things you don’t love because it gets you a discount? I just cannot.
What did you think of the Nashville season finale?
i added in my thoughts above – i really liked it though!
RE: the boxes, they have a puppy one! Bark Box! We did a kiddo one for a while, it was fun as brand new parents and would make an awesome gift. I can’t really get behind any of the others either. Especially the “craft boxes”.. um I’ll take my 40% off coupon to Michael’s spend half that, thanks!
Haha Captain Phillips was basically just a heart attack waiting to happen the ENTIRE movie. Can’t we get a break from the adrenalin?
I get Stitch Fix but only because I don’t usually have time to shop, and when I do I run in and run out without trying things on and then am too lazy to return them when they don’t fit. Oops.
Tracy | Peanut Butter and Onions took the words right out of my mouth: every season is neon Nail Polish season!
They could have ended Grey’s Anatomy all together with how the season finale went. However, I’m not liking how they brought in Dr. Weber’s daughter. I can only imagine how Meredith is going to react when she finds out. It might bring back her ‘dark and twisty’ side….which I kind of miss from time to time. And here is my question–who watches their kids?!! Because, like, they’re almost always in the hospital.
so much YES.
I did the Stitch Fix thing for about three months but then cancelled. The items I received were gorgeous but not things I would wear even though they were “hand selected” for me. Plus the $20 consultation fee adds up pretty damn quick and you realize you could have spent that money on something you really like.
I do get a a few food and nutrition boxes which I love. Vary rarely do I not like the products and the subscriptions are cheaper. Plus getting mail is fun.
I wore neon on my toes a couple of weeks ago, but I haven’t painted my nails with any neon yet. I usually give myself the green light on Memorial day.
Nashville was good but could have been better. It did leave me anxious for Fall, so I guess that is saying something.
I LOVED the Nashville season finale. And I’m totally on team Scarlett and Gunner. Also team Rayna and Deacon. I can’t stop listening to the song from the last scene with Scarlett and Gunner. Love it.
I love shopping. But more than clothes shopping, I love grocery shopping. Which is why I can’t do CSA boxes. If I wasn’t going to Trader Joe’s every other day, what kind of life would I have?!?
I broke out the neon nail polish!! OPI has a new NEON line — OMG I am in love with the hot pink, which I am currently sporting, and the orange, oh and the chartreuse…okay actually all of them!! As soon as I saw them I was like, Jessica will be all over these!
I think the idea of a fashion subscriptions is really cool, but like you I am all about the shopping experience and I freaking love it!
I don’t know if I can even click the link to those kids singing… it will probably make me an emotional mess for days! I get really emotional over stuff like that because of my own experiences in grade school.
Ah #2! I need to try that. Thanks for sharing!
LOOOOOOOVE stitchfix and Golden Tote… it’s like waiting for Christmas to arrive in your mailbox. I will admit I don’t always love everything I receive (and then it’s like a bad Christmas morning) but GT has a Trading Group page on FB which is just as addictive.
Haven’t seen Nashville or Grey’s season finale. I have 3 episodes left of each.. I am afraid to watch them bc then I have to wait till Oct for them to come back. and that. is. too. long.
Hello Jessica,
Once your book on the market, and a huge success at your door, you need to consider a career on television. Yes, I mean the Tube. Yano, like Rachael? I think you have everything to make it out there.
Mind you, you could start practicing with a video blog. I mean, cooking in front of a camera, sharing, laughing, having Eddie’s opinion, seing you in real-time-real-life tv, weither it’s on FoodNetwork or on our tablets. What do you have to loose? We all are going to keep following you!
Think about it!
Your very own special Consultant: me.
hahaha mia! thank you so much. you are too kind. TV isn’t my thing though. i’m more of a book writing kind of gal. ;)
No on StitchFix for so many reasons but being 6′ tall would just mean having to send back rather than go back to the store. Same misery that EVERYTHING is too short and I didn’t even get to pick it out!
The boys? I watched that video over and over and over and just wanted to find them and hug them.
I do believe I had my hand up a while ago when someone was talking about her marrying Luke; I am most definitely in the ‘She Needs to End Up With Deacon’ camp. I still have the episode on Tivo when he walked into the elevator and smooched her. Their chemistry is, well, reactive. Her chemistry with Luke? What chemistry?
barb! you are six feet tall? i had no idea! i’m such a shrimp at 5’1″. we need to snap a pic together.
Okay, one thing that nobody has mentioned re: Grey’s was their STUPID obsession with remaking every single 80s song this season to use as their slow, mournful background music. Please tell me you noticed!! During the finale it was “Take On Me” all slow and thoughtful and RIDICULOUS! I remember hearing “Like a Virgin” too and the lyrics did not apply to the scene so it was just weird. I would have forgiven them a couple of the songs throughout the season but it was literally every song, every episode (since obviously, it bugged me so much that I got obsessed with noticing) and their remakes made every single song sound exactly the same – like 90s depressing alternative music.
i didn’t really think about that until now but you are SO right.
I love the same TV shows you love. In Melbourne, Australia we have a fantastic show called Offspring. Its currently in its 5th season here, but you should definately check it out. Download the Season 1 Episode 1 and see if you can bear not to continue… http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1530541/

They aren’t going to break up Meredith and Derek on Grey’s. I figure she will stay here with Amelia to help with the kids and he will commute back and forth one week there, one week in DC. The woman that plays Amelia was one of my faves on Private Practice. As much as I’ve loved Grey’s through the years I can’t believe they just keep renewing it. It’s really not nearly as great as it was back in the day. I had forgotten how good it was till I caught a repeat a few weeks ago and it brought it all back. I do love that they are making that new chief of cardio be Ellis and Richard’s daughter! Never saw that one coming! I’m looking forward to the new Shonda Rhimes show How to Get Away with Murder. If it’s half as good as Scandal I’ll be happy!
I looooove Stitch Fix, but I am also an awful shopper. I tend to buy the same type of things from the same three or four stores and that’s it. BORING. I love getting stuff that I would never think to pick out for myself, as well as specific ideas on how to style outfits. I need halp. However, you’re totally better at fashion than the average person :)
Oh man #12. Couldn’t agree more. We’re all clueless.
I had stitchfix…..it sucked hard. I gave up. I was lying to myself. I LOVE SHOPPING AND THERE IS NO SHAME IN IT!
Sick. I hate spiders.
