June Favorites: Food + Fun.
June Favorites! For real.
Remember last year when I bought the blue mirrored raybans even though pretty much everyone in the comments told me not to do it and that they were terrible and that I’d look like Kanye West? Well I LOVE them to pieces, still. They are fairly sporty though with the plastic rims, so at Macy’s friends and family I bought these pinky-red mirrored ones. Adore.
Miranda Lambert’s new album! Ahhhhhh. I love it so much. It’s been on blast practically every day this month, I know every word and just lovelovelove it. My favorite song is Platinum… of course.
I don’t think I need to remind you how crazy I am over cherries right now, but my current favorite breakfast is siggi’s vanilla yogurt, cherries and whatever cereal I have on hand. Or this coconut butter granola. I made a batch two weeks ago and went through it in practically a day. So good.
This past month I read a ton, but my easy favorite was The Matchmaker. I’m STILL thinking about it and haven’t loved any book I’ve read quite as much. Basically grieving the book. Also, I’m loving goodreads so much. I’ve found the last few books I’ve been reading solely from reviews there.
Denim vests. Is this still allowed? I still love mine, both are from Target and I believe I got them last year (it wasn’t the year before right?!) Even better, ummm I bought my one-year-old goddaughter a freaking denim vest from Target for her birthday on Saturday. Dead.
I can’t get enough of this french bourbon vanilla candle. I want to eat it. Smells ridiculous.
For TV loves this month, it’s going to Orange is the New Black. Even though I haven’t been sold on the show, I was hooked this season and forced Eddie to watch it every night even though he tried to “pace” it. Um no. Pacing is not fun. All the episodes are out there so let’s watch them until we pass out and then do it the next day! As for movies, I ended up seeing Enough Said one night on HBO and freaking loved it. It was my perfect feel good chick movie, I wanted to cry every time James Gandolfini was on screen and just thought it was super cute.
Pretty sure I first mentioned these earrings two or three months ago, but gahhh I just love them. They can be dressy or casual and are the perfect drop. Not too big. So pretty. I wear them constantly.
For treats, this pretzels in milk chocolate bar has stolen my soul. I’m also loving the ghiraradelli mint chocolate cookie bar. And ice cream cones! Specifically with tons of sprinkles or cherry dipped.
The semi-annual sales have been killing me, and here’s proof. You know what a nut I am over Rebecca Minkoff bags. I don’t care if they are out of style or ugly at this point, I can’t find a cross body bag I love as much. They are just perfect and fit all the things. I bought a neon pink one a few months ago, but the truth is that I REALLY wanted a neon yellow one. They just didn’t have it. Well. A few weeks ago at the Bloomingdales sale I found a neon yellow quilted one (this style) and it was in my cart and checked out before I could think about it. I like it because it has black detailing and is different from my MAC clutches. You can ALWAYS find these purses on sale (Hautelook, Off 5th, even Nordstrom or Bloomingdales sales) so don’t buy one at full price!
I’ve been dying over all of the gorgeous dishes at suite one studio. Seriously want to buy them all.
Let’s talk about drinks. I have a lot of favorites this month. First, we are currently obsessed with agua fresca. I think our favorite is strawberry, but I’ve made watermelon twice because it doesn’t requite a million pounds of fruit. Second, I’m still a slave to Starbucks and really love those tea lemonade hybrid things. Delicious. For coffee, all I’ve wanted is iced macchiatos with extra drizzle. For booze, I can’t get enough strawberry margaritas because it’s SUMMER. Practically dessert.
Caprese ANYTHING. Probably my all-time fave caprese salad is this one. Two nights ago I made a classic (think just swap the peaches for tomatoes) and when Eddie made a plate he picked around all of the gorgeous, huge basil leaves. I looked at him like an insane person and he’s like “what? you don’t eat the basil.” I was like ummm are you on drugs? The basil is the best part.
[none of this is sponsored, just like to talk about things that I discover and love. there may be a few amazon affiliate links above. love love.]

“You don’t eat the basil.” WHAT?!?!?!! Crazy horse.
Those earrings are beautttttiful!
Love these posts — so fun!
I loved Enough Said. It was such a cute movie.
The Matchmaker is one I really want to read. Elin Hildebrand is such a great author.
I just downloaded The Matchmaker and can’t wait to read it starting this afternoon!!
Omg, pretzels in milk chocolate in bar form?! Sign me up. I seriously need to get me some coconut butter and soon, because that granola looks like heaven. Thanks for sharing!
I have just got through blogging about cherries! Love them–especially the chocolate chip cherry bars (link in blog)! So yummy! I can’t wait to read “The Matchmaker.” I’m still “grieving” over “The One & Only.” Loved that one! I caught “Enough Said” on HBO one Saturday morning and it gripped me from the beginning. I wondered how I missed this at the theaters! Love reading your blog and random thoughts.
I saw a neon yellow Rebececca Minkoff bag at either a Bloomies or Saks outlet a few weeks ago and literally said out loud ‘Jessica would love this!’ LOL
Speaking of chocolate + pretzels, I can’t get enough ot the Trader Joe’s chocolate covered pretzels and the chocolate cowboy bark. It’s becoming a serious problem for me.
My husband doesn’t eat the basil either, but then again he doesn’t love summery juicy tomatoes. Crazyness. More for me is how I rationalize that one.
I think you should do a summer book list. I love your recs and want more of them in one place! :)
Love milk chocolate pretzel bars :)
I’m horrible about updating Goodreads, but I did after reading this post! and realized I have a ton of read-books to add/rate, but I haven’t read them is so long that I can’t remember how I feel about them…and that I need to read more things besides internet stuff and magazines. Teenaged me read WAY more literature than 30-year-old-me.
Okay I love Suite One Studio too! <3
Read the Matchmaker (and then tweeted you) and cried and cried. So so good. love.
I wish I could go shopping with you. Love
I was thought that I was the only one obsessed with the neon yellow Rebecca Minkoff bags! I admit that I bought the MAC (on sale), but I love that quilted one as well…everything is better in neon yellow right now.
Love everything on this list! I also get super obsessed with caprese anything in the summer!

If you’re into great romantic “dramadies” as they’re called, you should watch “Playing By Heart”. It has an all-star cast (Angelina Jolie! Sean Connery! Ryan Phillippe! Jon Stewart!) and incredibly well acted. It’s like the realistic version of “Love Actually”.
I am in LOVE with this ray bans. Oh mama.
And denim vests? I LOVE. Still in! In forever.
YOU CAN GET MACCHIATOS WITH EXTRA DRIZZLE? just stop.
