Tuesday Things.
1. My iPhone autocorrection is out of control. It’s changing every “food” to “good” and every “gave” to “have” and, well… of course it uses the words “shot” and “duck” a lot.
2. How adorable is this savory chicken salad parfait?! And so perfect for lunch. I want to make like 20 of them.
3. Just a wee bit excited that girl scout cookies are coming soon. I think I can even make an exception and forgive them for creating a new one with RAISINS. Don’t they know? Raisins ruin everything.
4. I’m so out of it sleep-wise that last night Eddie watched Monday night wrestling for about 33 minutes before I realized what was on the TV and was like noooooo. I think he is loving this. He likes to remind me how I am outnumbered now.
5. Today is the release date for my friend Andie’s book, and I cannot shout it from the rooftops any louder: you guys have to grab this book! It is so beautifully written and touching and just… excellent. I want to read is AGAIN.
6. Remember a few weeks ago when I thought that I needed to nest like every other pregnant person and organized my pantry? Huh. Well. Organized pantry is no more. It’s already destroyed. Bonus though: there are lots of tortilla chips in there.
7. No new TV things this week, but I did start rewatching House of Cards in anticipation of the new season. In approximately one more month I’ll be going nuts over how stunning Robin Wright is and have momentary lapses in judgement of chopping my hair like hers. I’ve also been watching Shameless reruns and Mad Men reruns. Every night around 9PM I search the TV schedule to see what will be on in the middle of the night. This is my liiiiiife.
8. 15 things to stop doing in 2015. So much YES.
9. Moved on from italian subs to grilled cheese(us). Not that it’s much different from regular life but… you know. New years resolution: devour as many grilled cheese(us) as possible. Last night I made SUCH a delicious one. And dipped it in ketchup, naturally.
10. Let’s be real. I totally put on some lipstick just to make a smooch on my mug up there. When you’re hibernating with minimal adult interaction… it’s the little things.

A chicken salad parfait! What a cute idea!
Is it bad that I’m already thinking about what I’m going to dooooo in the middle of the night with a newborn?! I’m due in June and dreading the break in my sleep schedule! My husband is great and I’m sure he’ll be wonderful about helping out, etc., but regardless? We’re still going to have a little screaming being waking us up at 2 a.m. or so. Need to load up the DVR now! I watched the British version of “Shameless” years ago . . . think it’s the same one? Going to look into my binge-watching options!
I thought your mug was purchased like that and actually thought “i need to get one!” adorable!
My phone has been so wack lately with the autocorrections, too! It may also be from Casper’s new found love of swiping at my phone. He hung up on my mom the other morning when we were face-timing.
AND, it IS all about the little things. Putting on make-up…even a little…and a pair of earrings, makes me feel like a human and not just a changing milk-machine.
*diaper-changing
Downton Abbey is new! and Bachelorette (reality tv is my weakness, I must admit)…just sayin!
There was nothing on TV last night so I started watching “The 100” on netflix and it is so so good. You should check it out if you haven’t already!
I (willingly) watch RAW (Monday night wrestling) with my husband. We don’t even have kids yet and he’s already planning to re-watch all of them for the late nights he’s up with our children that don’t exist yet. And yes, Mad Men all the way!
Raisins totally ruin everything!!
I love your number 10. Honesty in blogging!
Haha, I love that even though you’re hibernating with minimal adult interaction, you still have Tuesday things. I hope you know if I lived closer, I’d come keep you company! And I’d only snuggle Max about 20 times. No, 200 times. Fine, all day.
My phone has always done the ‘have/ gave’ thing. It makes no sense. And it’s frustrating when it corrects what it thinks is a typo when it’s not!
Duck that, autocorrect! Sigh, my autocorrect isn’t that exciting. = ) When I had a newborn the lack of sleep was causing me to fall asleep anytime I sat down, and have these weird little nightmares that would make me wake up crying. = ( Hopefully I’ll be going through that again someday soon, though. = )
I love #10. ANd that shade. I’m inspired to go find some pink.
And for #9 — you are dipping in balsamic ketchup, right? It’s AMAZE-balls. (Better than jalepeno.)
Would you believe that I actually thought you might have intentionally done #10 before even reading that you did it? That’s scary. Like we’re real imaginary-internet-friends. Oh, and I echo the Downton Abbey suggestion. Totally worthy binging on seasons 1-4, and 5 just premiered.
I organize and reorganize my pantry and kitchen all.the.time. Why do I bother? Ditto. Back to disaster within a few days!
Duck… yep. Me too. Usually it’s, ‘ducking’ actually. Just doesn’t quite have the same impact though, right? Haha! :)
Here in Canada we don’t get all the different kinds of Girl Guide cookies. We just get two kinds: thin mints and chocolate or vanilla sandwich cookies. I’m ok with that though because I’m obsessed with the thin mint ones. Also, my mom is a Girl Guide leaders which means all the cookies for me!
I recently have been obsessed with grilled cheese, too!
I rediscovered my George Foreman and I have been making grilled cheese practically everyday since! CHEESE FOREVER.
The comment on lipstick, I’d totally do that too ;)
I’m completely obsessed with Downton Abbey (although it takes some time getting used to it!) and The 100! Love the chicken salad parafit – cheddar bunnies just take it over the top!
I have lipstick kisses on the walls, doors, books and various other places my daughter thought it would look good! Ha,ha!
Does anyone know the best way to get if off?????
Loooove Shameless, although Frank totally grosses me out. ;) Can’t wait for some TV to be back!!! Just started Andie’s book last night. SO GOOD.
I wanted to tell you that I (dubiously) ordered those American eagle jeggings purely off of your recommendation and I cannot stop wearing them. They are perfect! And I am a weirdo about jeans. :) you should do more style posts so I can buy all the stuff you tell me to!
Andie is AMAZING and I love the article!!
Jess, your description of being home with the baby and new motherhood as “hibernation” makes me want a winter baby just for this very reason (and I’m not even married yet). Before I was convinced that my babies would be born in summer. No longer!!
I don’t believe for a second that “shot” and “duck” show up on your phone ever. LMAO!!
Love the last blurb about the lipstick – ha!
I had grilled cheese for lunch with mashed avocado. My favorite. I could eat one every day.
Grilled cheese forever! I don’t think I’ve ever had a bad one…and the one you made with blackberries and fontina? That was one delicious revelation that I had to tell everyone I knew about! Yum!
I think my favorite part of this post is the lipstick stained coffee mug… The lipstick is a must have in my opinion!
Jessica I’m with ya on #3. Yes, raisins ruin everything! Especially cookies and cinnamon rolls. And muffins. And ice cream—Ack!! Blessings to you and your sweet family this new year. :)
Love the last one! Totally get that hibernation thing, maybe even more than people around me. Cute mug!
I DID chop my hair like Robin Wright’s thanks to HoC! Raisins are EW!
Congrats on the wee one! :-)
Watch The Following. The first season is on Netflix, and the second season should be added soon. Season 3 starts in March…..so addicting!
I want to scream every ducking time my phone auto corrects a word! GRRRRRR! I downloaded Andie’s book. I am a super slow reader b/c of my tv binging, but I am loving it nonetheless.
