Autumn in New York.
Did you see that movie? For some reason, I was obsessed with seeing that movie when I was a kid (hello fab era of winona and richard gere) and eventually, my mom gave in and let me rent it at the grocery store. What a weird thing to say – that we used to rent movies at the grocery store! Like whaaaaat. Anyhoo, that movie was pretty depressing from what I can remember. But what a fitting title for my blog post? Thank you, year 2000.
This is just a little peek (aka, a photo dump) at the few days we spent in NYC last week. Total fall leaf spam because it’s super pretty out and the leaves are changing like whoa. It was chilly too! This is just the start of my annual fall spam. I’ve been lucky enough to be in NYC at this time for the last five years and this year, it was extra special (and, um, different) with Max. And guys! I am really struggling with picture taking because I’m always so crazy focused on him. I’m trying, I’m trying, I swear!
I’d sell my soul for those cheese fries right now.
(p.s. yes i promise this is coming soon: a trader joe’s post, fall favorites, beauty faves, and 2(!!) baby posts!!)

Wow, such beautiful photos of the city! It looks like a fun trip! It’s funny you mentioned renting movies from the grocery store, I remember that! The one grocery store I recently started visiting again is one where I used to rent movies from all the time and every time I walk past the area where the movies used to be, I can’t help but think about how I used to run there and hope the movie I wanted wasn’t already rented out!
Ahh, he’s CROSSING his legs in that photo. Can’t handle it. Also, this might be bad advice, but I say keep focusing on Max and save the picture taking for later ;)
Gorgeous pics! Glad you had so much fun in my city (and I recognize that Shake Shack at the bottom…now I’m craving it!).
Love the photos Jessica!
My son is about max’s age & I’m dying to know what is on your first birthday And Xmas wish list for him! Please share! And keep those seven pumpkin patch visit pics coming!
Thanks :)
Ahhh soooo pretty!! And the food — oh the food!! YUM!
well that explains the pic of the Levaine cookie I saw on your IG. I was thinking “how did she get a hold of them in PIttsburg?” haha! I am a NY native and have yet to try one myself.
gorgeous pics! hope you had a blast!
Laughing out loud about renting movies at the grocery store- Iggle Video anyone! Pretty pretty pics. I’ve only been to NYC once and it was six years ago or something like that! Geeze. That cookie though…need one now.
Oh my goodness, where did you go? That cookie and those fries!
Is that Andie from Can You Stay for Dinner?!?!?!?! I miss NYC falls!!!! Beautiful pics!
Such great pictures!! I’ve never been to NYC during the fall but it looks absolutely wonderful! Then again, NYC is wonderful any time of year.
I was a finalist in a recipe contest last year and they said the cook off would be in New York – I got so excited, only to find out that almost everything was in New Jersey – boo!
I did have one afternoon to site see in NY and the one thing I wanted to do (weird I know) was to ride the subway, which I did. And I bought NY bagels to bring back to my boss who is from New York, and I finally believed her when she says that NY bagels taste different. :D
I love those fall leaves. We’re still having 70 degree weather so I am enjoying my fall through photos only!

Please tell me it wasn’t just any grocery store where you rented movies but the GIANT EAGLE. I have the BEST memories of renting movies at the Giant Eagle with my mom while my dad and brother were out of town. And since we were at the grocery store renting a movie we would also buy ice cream and eat it for dinner. Because we could.
Beautiful photos!! Makes me want to go to NYC as soon as possible! Excited for the upcoming posts :)
Ahh I ADORE these pictures! Mostly because 3 weeks ago I moved from NYC (after 5 years of living there) to Colorado. Gah, that city still has a massive hold on my heart! (And are you on 32nd street/Broadway aka Koreatown near Herald Square in the pic where Max is crossing his feet?)
That better be a freakin’ Levain cookie!!! THE.BEST.
Based on the planter and the column, the photo where Max is crossing his feet was taken in front of 9 West 57th Street…
I’m loving your photos! New York is gorgeous in the fall! I absolutely love it. I also life your aerial photo, is that amirror? How cool!
Very importantly, what is Max going to be for Halloween?? Our Little man is going to be a hedgehog. Have you seen the Potterybarn baby/toddler costumes?!?! My MIL is obsessed and buys them all for the grandkids. So fun!
Such gorgeous photos! Reminds me what I’m missing this year.
As a new mama I say enjoy Max because u know it goes by too fast! Where are his shoes from? I’m so happy to have discovered your site within the last year. Our babies are the same age and love everything you share!
I love NYC and I love Autumn so naturally I would love to visit this time of year. My husband and I were there last year for NYE, we had a blast!
I am obsessed with your photography! so beautiful and inspirational!
Why don’t we have a Shake Shack here in the ‘burgh?! I guess it’s a good thing we don’t! Those fries though…Mmmmm……. We just visited the Winter Park,FL location and had a “salted buttery caramel” shake. It was like drinking a super sweet stick of butter! So ridiculously yummy!!!
I have a similar picture of that same fountain in Bryant Park : ) I need to know what is that chocolate chip looking pastry thingy and where did you get it and are the burgers and cheese fries from the Shake Shack?? Love NYC!
How do you not eat his little toes??? That pic of him crossing his little feet omg I just want to bite off his big toe!!
Oh hi. Sorry. I would never hurt your baby.
I used to nibble on my daughters’ toes, though. And chase them around the room squeezing their bum when they were crawling around in their diapers.
Perhaps that’s why they are a little loony now that they are all grown up?
:)
Loved that movie!
Beautiful pictures, and your baby is adorable!! Thanks for sharing
