Tuesday Things.
1. I can’t STOP with the tulips. I’m seriously covering my entire house with them. I’m putting them in food photos! They are just making my days feel so much more… bright? And please tell me, in this PA climate, when can I plant my herbs?!
2. While I’m at it, might as well making this edible flower rainbow cocktail. Eeeep.
3. Fact: sandwiches always taste better when somebody else makes them for you. (obvious pro tip: chips go ON it.)
4. Do you live in an area that sells Polar unicorn tears seltzer? TELL ME ABOUT IT. Puhlease.
5. I made a new-to-me potato dish (not my own, from a magazine) for Easter dinner Saturday night and it was almost a complete fail. Like, I made everybody go “play with Max” while I stood at our sink pouring copious amounts of liquid out of a baking dish of scalloped potatoes. Real life.
6. A big fat NO to the Walking Dead. I have a theory about next week and it’s not good. Still absolutely loving the twists and turns on Billions and have such a love/hate for Bobby Axe. His convo with Dollar Bill was some of the best TV I’ve seen. And how crazy was GIRLS?! I actually loved the episode. Not shocked by the ending either. Also, can someone please tell me why I care at all about Grey’s and am watching? Is it because I have no life? Oh oh and I DVRed The Catch! And kind of loved it.
7. I’m *this close* to having a kentucky derby party even though it would last all of seven seconds.
8. We had such a busy last few days that it seriously looks like a tornado ripped through our home. There are clothes, shoes, cups, toys, gifts, clothes, books, cheddar bunnies and clothes EVERYWHERE. I don’t think I’ve seen it this bad since I was in college. Don’t even know where to begin. Halp.
9. More on becoming a morning person. I love these kind of posts because I’m naturally a morning person, but having a kid has really thrown me for a loop.

LOL about the Kentucky Derby party… True dat.
Grey’s always and forever.
I WANT YOU TO PRETEND LIKE WE’RE ARGUING AND SCREAMING AT EACH OTHER! such A GREAT show.
You are so in my head with watching Grey’s (WHYYYYYY am I doing this?!) and I also loved the Catch. I needed a new show (I always need a new show), so I’m glad this one is promising.Â
After visiting no less than 10 grocery stores I finally called around and found the Unicorn Kisses seltzer. I bought a case! It tastes like watermelon to me and I am not ashamed of how much searching it took me!
I’m so with you: I buy fresh flowers every week! I love the happiness they bring me, and the way my house smells nice. And about those potatoes, well, I guess it’s sort of nice to know not even the best ones are flawless when it comes to cooking. Lol!
YES sandwiches do taste better when someone else makes them! Especially when that “someone else” is your mom ;)
Kristina does the Internets
I have been looking all over for that seltzer. I need it!!!!!
I am SO scared of the Walking Dead finale but I’m trying to come to terms with the fact that someone major will be killed. When a show like Grey’s gets to that weird point where I don’t want to watch anymore I keep going (through in sporadic binges via Hulu) due to some crazy loyalty thing I have, for some reason I HAVE to finish the show even when I kind of start hating it…
As a KY girl, a Derby Party is a MUST! And they last longer than just for “the most exciting two minutes in sports.” Mint juleps, hats, a Derby pool, & mini hot browns (just to name a few). SO GOOD!
sandwiches are ALWAYS better when made by someone else, and chips and pickles on the side are no brainers (or toss some pickles on the sandwich too! Its like salads taste better when made by someone else!
I literally have so much anxiety about the Walking Dead that it’s keeping me up at night. If we lose Daryl next week, you can find me streaming old episodes on Netflix while crying into my drink for the next several weeks.
my friends and I have been trying to nail down a description of the flavor of the unicorn kisses seltzer. I say it smells like candy, tastes like fruity lip balm. Others have said it tastes like watermelon…or shampoo. I still don’t know how I feel about the taste. But I know I love the bottle!
I’ve wanted to watch The Catch!! I’ll have to record it next time its on so I can start :). The previews looked awesome. Â
Loved the article on becoming a morning person. Â Thanks for sharing!Â
Unicorn Kisses tastes like Skittles! Like you dumped a whole bag in a seltzer and let it marinate overnight (similar to what *some people* may have done in college with skittles & vodka). Magic.
I am sad that they are going to move away from the polar bear icon, however! I went to college right next to the factory and the giant bear beckoning me from the highway was always a welcomed sight when I drove back onto campus.Â
SO OVER GREYS. Â Yet I continue to watch. Â And am now watching season 4 on netflix at the same time.Â
And I love KY Derby parties! Â Hot brown sandwiches, fancy hats, BOURBON. Â Course I’m 37 weeks pregs, so hopefully I can indulge. Â You can make the Blueberry mint juleps, which are divine!
I always have recipe fails whenever its a special occasion or if someone is watching me. It’s a running joke in our family because the corn pudding never finishes cooking in time for the meal.

Cannot agree with you more about Girls and Billions. I’ve been so over Girls lately but loved that episode – made me miss/love/hate Charlie. All I could think during the Bobby/Dollar Bill scene was this is Emmy-worthy!!
I only live 15 minutes from the Polar Factory, I’m sure I can find some, my girls, they love bubbly water.
Oh god, we can’t lose Darryl! What about Maggies? She was crying in pain…….then we’ll have to wait until October!
The Walking Dead, MAJOR anxiety. I cannot believe we watch this for fun and I don’t know what I will do with myself , if something happens to Daryl or Maggie, or Glen or Carol, but most of all Daryl. I think will DVR on Sunday. So Yes! on the sandwich tasting better when made by someone else. My husband (who can only make french toast, scramble eggs and toast frozen waffles) and barely knows how to operate our broiler/oven makes me the BEST Â sandwiches on a baguette. So basic, so simple, Â but oh so good: mayo, salami and honey ham and then puts vinegar salt and pepper chips on the side. The thing is that if I make myself the same sandwich, is oh so blahh that I cannot stand it. How is this possible?! Also, my Mom makes really good sandwiches too, but just ham and Swiss cheese and then she grills them, even more basic, but so delicious when made by her! I have tried making them also and I can’t even! Sorry for your recipe fail, it sucks to spend ingredients and time and electricity! We are organizing a Block Kentucky Derby Party, we are closing the street and going to place tables on the sidewalks with food on them for everybody to eat and will dress up, ideas on what should I bring?
Herbs advice – As an OH gal I recommend starting them in pots inside ASAP! Take them outside on nice days (over 40 degrees) and let them soak up the sun. You should be able to transplant them when summer warmthts. Why wait for fresh herbs!?
Could not agree with you more about Greys. How do I continue to devote the time each week? Why can’t I stop? Tell me you watched the behind the episode of Girls this week. Lena was inspired, as was the episode.
I have always said that about sandwiches. Why? Â I adore them when we go out but the second I go to have one at lunch by me it is always ho-hum and I regret wasting a meal.Â
hey girl love the list! I just adore tulips to, so pretty! I need to go to the flower shop and pick some up!
I have had similar experiences with bad, liquidy scalloped potato recipes! My go-to classic now is Julia Child’s Potato Dauphinoise from Mastering the Art of French Cooking. It’s simple, but delicious, and works every time! Maybe give that a try sometime, if you’re in the mood for creamy/brown cheesy, potatoes. (Which, for me, is pretty much always…)
Edible flower rainbow cocktail looks yummy and healthy wanna try those recipes soon . Becoming a morning person, even i cant get up early in the morning wanna use those tips .. really nice tips for a healthy lifestyleÂ
PGH gardening – Mother’s Day (and after) is usually safe for planting. Â If you use pots you can plant earlier, just drag them inside if frost threatens. Â I hold on planting cilantro until June or even early July to wait for my tomato plants to produce. Â Cilantro bolts too quickly for me.
Also, stop getting in my brain, it’s creepy. Â My friend and I had the EXACT conversation about sandwiches. Â Thumbs up on chips.
OMG I want that seltzer! And I feel the same way about Grey’s! I don’t know why I care anymore but then again I’ve been watching it for the last decade which is probably the longest commitment to anything I’ve ever made.
I am a huge Polar Seltzer fan! Â They have the best flavors (pomegranate sangria, cucumber watermelon, cranberry clementine, etc.). Â I tried Unicorn Kisses over the weekend. Â My sisters and I all agreed it tastes like blue cotton candy. In my opinion, it wasn’t that great of a flavor, but was fun to try and the marketing is genius. Â
And salads – like sandwiches – always taste better when someone else makes them. Am I right?!
Billions killed it this week! Â I was in shock. Â The only reason I don’t totally hate AXE is because Paul Giamatti is SO FREAKING TERRIBLE! Â UGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I had a total scalloped potatoes fail over Easter too – was it the caramelized onion scalloped potatoes from Fine Cooking by any chance?! That magazine can usually do no wrong, but those potatoes were a flop for me.Â
I live in the land of Polar Seltzer and even here it’s hard to come by Unicorn Kisses! They sell out as soon as the shelves are stocked. I think it tastes like cotton candy, but I have heard others say it tastes like soap. Maybe its one of those flavors like cilantro?
i’m the exact same with Grey’s! can’t stop won’t stop and don’t know why…also DVRd the catch and it isn’t bad? we’ll see how it pans out.
