May Favorites: Beauty.
Hellllllo end of May! How are you here?
This is nuts. This year is FLYING! Glad it’s my favorite time of the month to ramble on about how much of a product junkie I am. Indulge me!
For makeup, I’ve been wearing next to NOTHING! And loving it. My current routine is moisturizer, BB cream, concealer, bronzer, highlighter, brows and mascara. No eyeshadow at all. Sometimes blush depending on what I’m doing with the lip. Always something on the lips but it just depends! I’m loving the summery feel and going with it. I’ve even been wearing a more natural look OUT which is crazy for me. Of course I’ll still trash it up with a smokey every now and then but time is not on my side at the moment.
Ooooh let’s talk about hair! I got a small size of Living Proof Blowout spray and uh – absolutely hated it. It seriously made my hair feel like straw and made it IMPOSSIBLE to blow dry. It was the weirdest thing. At first I thought I used too much so I used less TWO more times and it was still terrible. Ugh! I only tried it because I love the Kenra Blow Dry Spray so much and wanted to see if it did the same. Spoiler alert: it doesn’t. Kenra all the way! I’ve actually been blow drying my hair again recently (I probably did this only 5 times in the last year until this month, ha) and I will forever love that stuff.
Okay, so loves this month!
Estee Lauder Bronze Goddess Bronzer in Light. Eeeep. You know I’m nuts about the Bronze Goddess line. My cousin grabbed me this because she loved hers last year and I’m so glad she did! Last year I was using the Kevyn Aucoin Tropical Nights bronzer and absolutely love that too – but it has a highlight and shimmer in almost half of the powder. This one isn’t completely matte (not as matte as chocolate soleil) but it’s close.
Supergoop Everyday Sunscreen SPF 50. I’ve loved supergoop for years and this is what has gone on my skin every single morning this month. I’ve mostly finished the illuminating Dr Jart sunscreen that I talked about last month and have stashed it in the diaper bag, so I’ll mix this with the Glowstarter below. I’m pretty insane about sunscreen and wrinkles so I will reapply multiple times during the day if we’re outside and it’s smooth without that sticky sunscreen feel. I usually go by what the EWG recommends for sunscreen and this is still in their moderate range, but it really works well under makeup.
Sephora I Love Cushion Bronzer in Light/Med. Since I’m really into bronzer at the moment but also love liquid and cream products, I threw this in my cart the instant I saw it. This is SO cool. It definitely leans a little orange but since it’s liquid-based it’s so easily blendable and I just use it mostly around the edges of my face and cheekbones. It doesn’t lift my tinted moisturizer and the little sponge thing it comes with is great. I have a feeling I will completely go through this in a month or two.
Glam Glow Glowstarter. Oh to the em to the gee – I’m not being dramatic when I say that this is my FAVORITE purchase of 2016 so far. Absolute favorite. So I bought this as a sephora VIB exclusive because I love all things Glam Glow. I thought it was just a regular moisturizer that would give me some glow and I was blown away when I opened it and saw the most gorgeous shade of shimmery skintone pink. And it makes my skin SO glowy – not glittery or shimmery, just glowy. I cannot get enough of this. The only thing that totally sucks is that it doesn’t have any SPF. So I’ve been mixing it with my sunscreen in the morning and even with my BB cream. LOVE so much. This is definitely a daytime moisturizer for me and I still am using the Tidal at night.
Dr. Jart+ Premium BB Cream. Oldie but goodie!! You might remember when I started my beauty posts, this was my all-time favorite BB cream. I stopped using it when I got pregnant with Max since it has parabens, but I did buy it again last summer. I recently threw on some self tanner and needed a darker shade than the Chantecaille that I’ve been using and remembered I still had this. I love this so freaking much. It’s way too dark for me in the winter but it works for my skin now and is so super natural. It will be a forever favorite.
Hempz Hydrating Stick SPF 30. I grabbed this on a whim at Ulta and it has been a lifesaver. Max and I have been outside a LOT – like every single day, multiple times in the day – and it’s a lot more than I’ve been outside in years. I’ve used the sunbum stick for the last few years but it is smaller. This stick is huge (like deodorant sized, clearly) and covers my face or shoulders or neck in a swipe or three. It also smells wonderful. I’ve used the regular Hempz lotion since high school (the one that smells like banana) and always love their stuff.
Skyn Iceland Hydrocool Firming Eye Gels.I LOVE using these right now – as it gets warmer out – because they are so refreshing! I still rarely sleep much thanks to Max so popping these on under my eyes at least makes me FEEL better if I look like a zombie.
Orly Cake Pop. I love white polish in the summer but it isn’t very flattering on my skintone. This is the perfect alternate – it has a little purpley pink undertone in it but it still opaque enough and white-like. Love it.
That’s it! What are you loving this month? This summer? What is your go-to summer look? Are you slathering on more highlighter than is humanly possible like I am? xoxoxo

I must try the glam glow glowstarter! thanks for the recommendation! I haven’t bought anything new this month, still using my dior favorites — wait– I did pick up a new bottle of skinceuticals sunscreen – the best for the face, no bad chemicals or parabans and even has a bit of tint. I wear it for running and doesn’t cause break outs!
I just want you to know how much I enjoy your blog. Â You never disappoint. I always look forward to Saturday for the “currently crushing” – and I enjoy your beauty products as much. Â I even ordered the Kendra blow out spray and the supergroop! Â Yes, I hated the living proof as well, but it sure does get a lot of hype around the blog world.Â
I know how much work a blog takes – you are doing a great job!
I know you’re a devoted Kenra fan (I love their shine spray), but try  Crazy Straight (by J Beverly Hills). I blow dry my hair 80-90% of the way, then add some and finish. It works super well! (I’m so devoted I always keep an extra bottle in case they ever stop making it). I like it because a lot of blow dry/heat protection products make my hair greasy or dry, but this one just keeps my hair soft & smooth.
those eye gels sound fantastic – will have to give them a try!
Always my favorite post of the month! I have so many new loves…top of the list is Dove Dry Oil body wash with Argan oil. It smells so good and leaves my dry skin hydrated. Deborah Lipmann polish in Dirty Little Secret, which is a slightly shimmery, greige with a tinge of mauve. Goes on so easy, even for a total manicure klutz like myself. Becca…the new foundation is so light on the skin and glowy (I’m thinking not for oily skin types) and the flower child blush is so pretty. The new Bite Amuse Bouche lipstick in Fig which I thought was lost but miraculously turned up in my makeup drawer when I had just about given up hope of ever seeing it again. Oh yes, and finally the By Terry cream eye shadow (Ombré Blackstar?) in Misty Rock is this gorgeous taupe/lavender one swipe on the eyelid stick of magic.
Promise I shall stop now!!
i got the fig and am just meh over it after  a few weeks.  it really doesnt tend to last on me and seems to dry my lips a bit although other colors in the line do not ?  i was determined to find a good neutral in that line and tried a lot and settled on fig.  looking back i should have kept trying.  its not bad i just am not in love. Â
I’ve been looking for a moisturizer that has a little bit of a glow to it, and I legit have a tab open with a huge order at sephora, so this is perrrrrect timing! Cannot wait to try it!
Have you tried the St. Tropez tanning lotion? i bought the wet skin one – its a gradual tan and very naturale and NO streaks. But im tempted to try the real full on self tanner!Â
i love these posts ! Â i love the kenra spray. Â and i HATE products that make my hair feel like straw and rip half of it out while blowdrying ! Â ive been doing more minimal eye makeup mostly cuz of time but have been a bit bolder on my lips. Â i got bite lipstick in cayenne and love it. Â its a great bright read for pale girls w blond hair. Â i use it with the clear urban decay lipliner and no joke its lasts forever ! Â like through lunch forever. Â ive been using the chocolate bronzer i think from too face a lot and minimal blush. Â i use a clarins liquidy sunscreen moisturizer in the AM but only cuz i work inside. Â i still use nuetrogena matify if im going to be actually outside. Â im always afraid to try new sunscreens cuz what if they dont work ! Â im using jergens moisturizer as my very basic self tanner mostly cuz i am so lazy to do real self tanner correctly. Â started using sunday riley luna sleeping oil and the good genes and i think i like them ! Â cant tell which i like better though. Â not sure what i will reorder.
I am loving SuperGoop. I will have to try this sunscreen. Â My only new product is a lip balm from Savannah Bee Co.

Thank you for all the suggestions! Especially the sunscreen products – I live in Vegas and it’s going to be 106 today so I always need sunscreen! This is probably a dumb question, but when you reapply sunscreen during the day, do you just put it over your makeup? I always put sunscreen on in the morning, followed by makeup, but wonder what I should do if I go outside later in the day. Take make up off so I can add fresh sunscreen, or just slather more sunscreen on top? Thanks!!
i’ve been using a powder sunscreen brush from peter thomas roth for exactly what you are describing.  i use regular sunscreen in the AM but if i go out for  a walk at lunch i figure some of that is gone.  i like the powder for a quick 30 min walk and it seems to work well.  plus it helps to absorb any shine/sweat a bit.  its pretty powdery at first but seems to set in/get absorbed by the end of my walk.  it wouldnt be enough to go swimming or something like that but for me its perfect for a walk.  and it lasts forever !  like you, i could never apply more cream/liquid sunscreen over my makeup.  i would have to remove it.
Whoa, next to nothing make up includes 8 different products? Maybe I just don’t know how to girl. Hahaha!
I haven’t tried the blow dry spray (I honestly blow dry my hair probably 5 times a year too), I’ve been loving the Living Proof Fresh Cut split end mender. I know they say you can’t cure split ends, but I swear this stuff actually does. It makes my hair so soft and diminishes any sign of potential splits. Plus it smells AMAZING. It’s totally worth the price tag.
I’ve been looking for a daily sunscreen that isn’t too heavy, doesn’t smell too much/doesn’t compete w/ my perfume, and absorbs quickly- is this SuperGoop the one to try? Thanks!
Obligatory monthly comment about lip products: Scooping up every single $11 UD revolution lipstick before the Vice line comes out. Then, you know, scooping them up. There’s a green one…?
Bath and Body Works Semi_annual + Flashbacl Sun-Ripened Raspberry = yes.
That is all. <3

New favorite product this month (okay, last month since June is somehow already here?) is Aquarevealâ„¢ Satin Bright Soft Water Peel for Face, which I received a sample of in my Birchbox and had to purchase once the sample was up. It is the coolest thing and makes my face SO smooth. It isn’t harsh either – it actually feels good and hasn’t caused any breakouts. LOVE! I am definitely going to try some of that Glam Glow and Dr. Jart+!Â
Hi! I LOVE Dr. Jart and have been using for several years, but I’m curious what paraben-free alternate you used while pregnant? Thank you!
I love a good glow and that Glam Glow Glowstarter is calling out to me! I love my liquid opal from Becca and mac strobe cream. I don’t have one with a pink base, so she would fit in beautifully around here. ;) My go to products right now are the illuminators that I mentioned, lancome hypnose drama mascara, bobby brown blush in pale pink (it is gorgeous) sephora fiji bronzer, mac shy shine and bite beauty lush lip tint in juice and lychee. I can’t wait to look into the supergoop spf. I love these monthly beauty posts!
