12 Days of Christmas! Day 9: Gingerbread Palooza, Q+A and a Giveaway! {CLOSED}
Yes, I made gingerbread with my little ginger.
If you guys have been reading my blog for a few years, you might remember that two years ago, the night before I had Max, I went to my parents’ house and we made a gingerbread house. I was in labor while doing it (but didn’t really know I was) and it’s sort of been a tradition ever since! The houses. Not the labor.
This year, my dad and I tried out the gingerbread village from Target. I loved it so much! It was so fun getting to decorate a few different mini houses.
Max and I also mixed up gingerbread dough to bake cookies dough. It’s chilling in the fridge and I can’t wait.
ALSO! I’m going to film a Q+A video this week, so ask whatever you want to ask in the comments, on instagram, on twitter or in an email! xo
Yesterday’s giveaway winner for the Madewell Tote is Stacy S who said “I’m grateful for the people that love me and my kids….without them, I don’t know where we would be.”
Congrats Stacy! Please email me at howsweeteats (at) gmail (dot) com with your mailing address!

I will be spending it as I’ve spent pretty much every New Year’s Eve over the past 20 or so years, home alone and most likely in bed before midnight.
Can’t wait for NYE! Followed on IG :)
Our New Year’s Eve will be just the three of us, tucked away at our remote cabin in the Rockies. Â My husband and I live full time in Orlando, our son (27 years old) lives in Denver–so our holidays in the mountains are important. Â We’ll watch movies that we’ve watched over and over, I’ll laugh at my husband and son’s ability to quote so many funny lines, and we’ll share a sip of champagne at midnight. Â Your Max is now two. Â I remember when my son was two. Â We were living in Vail at the time, and watching Sesame Street one day. Â The episode was about a family preparing to send their eldest son off to college; and I was in tears at the thought of my Austin leaving for college–ever. Â Cherish your time with Max–he’s pretty much just “on loan” you know . . . and the day you drop him off at the dorm is drawing near. Â It’s an amazing ride, a whirlwind . . . and you can ever get it back. Â
Â
This New Years, I’ll be having a few friends over for a night out on the town in our small Italian town. I’m eyeing the pomegranate cheese ball and some winter sangria (with Italian wine of course!). Yum! My husband will be deployed, leaving on the 30th. I am grateful he will be home for Christmas!
I will be at home with my husband, probably up with my newborn for a feeding
We will be coming home after a little anniversary getaway and will just chill at home with the kids. Lots of snuggles and a movie.Â
I’ll be spending NYE with my hubby of 25 years! I would love these new glasses to toast the new year!

Wedding with good friends, what a great way to ring in the new year!!
Stunning! Â Just Stunning! I could never buy these for myself but would sure love to win them.
We are going to my husbands sisters house. She not only is a good cook but she has the best games to play. One is from her husband’s side of the family. He’s English. It is called Crackers. Another is from our Danish side of the family. It is called Mandelgave.
Family, friends and fun!
Merry Christmas to you. I continue to love this sweet blog and blogger.
PS. I don’t have instagram or facebook. But if I did you would be there with me. I do save a lot of your things on Pinterest.
I like to stay in with the fam and watch Kurt Russell movies. How and why this became a tradition, I’m not sure. But Kurt Russell seems like a perfectly fine specimen to ring in the New Year with, amiright?
I now subscribe to How Sweet It Is on YouTube. ?
Oops! Â I wanted to tell you about Christmas so much I didn’t see you asked about New Years Eve.Â
New Years Eve is cozy, at home. Just my hubby & me. We are usually in bed to early to watch the ball drop. But we do enjoy going out first thing on the first day of each new year to walk on the beach. Seems to start the year with hope and wonder.
