Tuesday Things.
1. How absolutely gorgeous is this rose granita with vanilla bean ice cream?!
2. In what is probably everyone’s nightmare, we went to the mall yesterday and it was insane. Like worse that it has been in previous years. I want/need some nice/cute/practical snow boots so pleeeease leave your recommendations.
3. We didn’t really watch any TV this week with the holiday, but we did start watching the O.A. on netflix! Have you watched? Thoughts?
4. Definitely can’t get over everyone taking their trees down on Christmas or the day after! I consider the entire week between Christmas and New Years to still be holiday time and we don’t take down anything until January. I never want it to end!
5. I instagrammed every single one of these things this past year… except for the bagels. I cannot get behind those bagels. I mean, I think they are SO pretty. But ingesting one? No thanks.
6. Before we had Max, Eddie and I would do one big series binge over the holidays and barely move from the couch for two or three days until we finished. Obviously that isn’t possible anymore, but we’re still looking for a (newish) show to most likely fall asleep on the couch to. Throw me your ideas.
7. LOVE these leadership goals for 2017.
8. Speaking of 2017, last year I couldn’t get my act together to make a vision board and I find that my years always feel more… organized? inspiring? when I make one! I’m on it this week. Since I’m a magazine junkie, I find it super fun.

first off – your tuesday things are the highlight of my tuesday every week.
boots: i got the sorel caribou boots from zappos and am a huge fan. comfy, trendy, and they do a great job of keeping my feet warm.
tv: i started and finished the o.a. last week. it’s kind of wacky but i really enjoyed it. keep watching.
These boots! http://athleta.gap.com/browse/product.do?cid=100023&vid=1&pid=717123002
Bean boots are my go to, they may not be THE cutest but hello they come in colors now! I recommend getting ones with thinsulate or a liner.
I’d love to see how you come up with your vision board. Goals and plans for 2017? I think I’ll make one, I’m a super visual person.
One last thing. I had a dream we met and I said “OMG I feel like we’re friends already because you’re so nice on the internet.” You said “I feel the same way!” LOL (even though I’m not famous on the internet)

Sorrel boots for life!! I have tall ones that are trimmed in fur. They’re 4 years old and I still love them. I live in Pittsburgh, too, and I try to justify getting another pair because they’re so cute, but we haven’t gotten enough snow.
We are considering binging game of thrones because we are the last Americans to not watch it. We also love designated survivor, which is new but good.
My sister takes all of her Christmas decor down the 26th. I think it’s awful. We started taking down most of our decor down the week after Christmas as it makes me feel less hectic but I leave our trees and wreaths up until after Epiphany.
It makes me so sad to see people taking down their trees on the 26th! :'( :'(
Have you watched The Crown on Netflix yet? I loved it, but definitely not something I would watch with my husband.
I took my Christmas decor down yesterday and regretted it as soon as I was done. I was in the midst of an anxiety attack from all the clutter in my house from three days of festivities. My one year old basically got the Amazon toy department for Christmas (and yet still plays with my basket of onions and sweet potatoes over the toys). For some reason I thought taking down the Christmas decor was a good first step to organizing everything. Instead it made me sad! Also, those bagels look like they’re made out of play doh.
I would also love to see how you do your vision board! I just make lists…no pictures. That sounds way more fun! For boots, I second LL Bean…they really are the best and they hold up so well. For TV, since 2016 has been so crappy, you need to end it on a happy note by binging Party Down.
L.L. Bean boots are the best. I moved from California to Maine and finally bought my first pair three years ago. I ahve not looked back since.
We drove by a Christmas tree bonfire on CHRISTMAS DAY! I couldn’t believe someone would take it down and burn it that fast! Ours is definitely going to be up until New Year’s Day.
UGG SNOW BOOTS!!! amazing and cute!
Silly question….what does the OA stand for???
I got these for Christmas http://www.keenfootwear.com/product/shoes/women/elsa-boot-wp
they are adorable and functional!
love your tuesday things and I am a Pittsburgh girl too! I go to all the same places, ha ha!
I loved the Netflix (formerly BBC) series, Black Mirrors. Husbands will too!
Ugh, those bagels. You know how I feel about those!! Haha! :)
shameless! although definitely not for max :)
Sorels all the way! I love mine – they have several different styles depending on what you are looking for.
Love your Tuesday Things, thanks for sharing :)
ps – we are making your brussel sprout bacon carbonara tomorrow – hooray!!!
We don’t take our tree down until well into January!
1) I consider the week leading up to New Year’s to be part of the holidays, just like you.
2) It’s tradition for us Slovenians. A lot of people here prefer to give gifts for New Year’s instead of Christmas & are more aligned with Grandfather Frost (similar to Santa), who visits children on NY’s Eve. So they put up a tree for New Year’s, not even Christmas.
3) The city is still decorated anyway!
Maybe you should just move here & get a few extra days/weeks of festivities!
JK!
I just started watching the OA, but paused it after the first episode because I want to finish Black Mirror first. Have you seen that? Worth a watch.
:)
I got these boots from Toms last year and love them. http://www.toms.com/featured-shops/rawhide-suede-faux-hair-womens-nepal-boots. I also like that with each pair of shoes you buy, they will donate a pair to someone in need.
About your #6 throw-me-your-ideas for series: THE CROWN / OUTLANDER / POLDARK / THE MAN IN THE CASTLE / STRANGER THINGS /
Considering you probably already saw some and will start the new HOUSE OF CARDS shortly.
Have a MERRY EVERYTHING AND A HAPPY ALWAYS as I wrote on my 2016 Xmas card…
You can totally pretend your Spanish and keep your tree up until the Epiphany because Spaniards open their gifts on January 6th since that’s when the 3 Kings arrived. As a Canadian, i’d definitely go with Sorel boots. I live in Spain so I can’t justify buying them cause I’d never wear them but my girlfriends back home have them and swear by them. Happy New Year!
For snow boots you can’t beat Sorel. They are making them in the cutest styles now. I have the Joan of Arctic and the Addington bootie and LOVE them both! They are super comfy and keep your feet warm and dry while looking cute rather than clonky.
On #4 – AGREE ugh. I can’t even – I want to be the grinch that takes the trees off the curb and puts them back up in the middle of the night! It’s bad luck to take it down before Epiphany too. http://www.sprinklesandsarcasm.com/2015/01/when-to-take-your-christmas-tree-down.html?m=1
My husband and I are obsessed with Goliath on Amazon Prime. Billy Bob Thornton has never been cast in a better role for him. And William Hurt. We haven’t figured out what made him so weird in the show. Lots still has to be revealed.
I forgot to tell you. I made your Pomegranate Vanilla Skillet Cobbler for Christmas Eve dinner. It was so good. My family loved it. Thank you for sharing the recipe.
One other show we’re obsessed with! Good Behavior on TNT. You can watch On Demand. Michelle Dockery from Downton Abbey is in it. It couldn’t be more opposite from DA!
Pajar snow boots! You can sometimes find them at TJMaxx :-)
I have been searching for the perfect boots for 3 years!
I just watched the first episode plus half the second one of OA last night! I am very intrigued and want to keep watching but my BF is like “ummmm…no thanks” bummer. I am going to see what Dark Mirror is all about tonight! I LOVE YOUR BLOG! Tuesday things :)
Okay, so we have 5 (!) trees up…I would cry if we took them down before New Year’s…so we don’t. The house is so pretty with all of the decorations. It always seems so bare when it’s all gone. Sometimes we wait for the epiphany…sometimes New Year’s Day.
For shows…Game of Thrones, Catastrophe, The Man in the High Castle, The Americans, Portlandia, Mr. Robot,
and not newish, but I could watch it over and over…Downton Abbey.
There you go…fantasy, comedy, drama, history…romance threaded throughout :)
Happy New Year, Jessica! I’ve enjoyed all the lovely photos/videos you’ve shared this holiday!
As someone who lives in Chicago and is used to dealing with snow, I would recommend Sorel winter boots. I have the Tivoli II and they are fantastic. Plus, I get compliments on them all the time. If you order online, read the reviews — I am pretty sure you have to go up a full size. I have been supremely happy with this purchase!
Love my Ugg Adirondack II boots! Very cute and warm.
I bought these boots this fall and I wear them ALL the time. Now I also bought some Tory Burch riding boots that are beautiful, but kill my feet. (super bummed). Anyway, my feet are picky when it comes to shoes, and these ones are awesome!

Hope you had a Merry Christmas and have a Happy New Year!
We LOVE “Lethal Weapon.” I like it so much I’ve watched most episodes 3 times – once with my husband, then again with my mom and my husband when she arrived in town, then again with my mother-in-law, mom, & husband when she arrived in town. I probably would watch them again if I didn’t have shamefully 112 episodes of Dr Who eating up DVR space. I usually don’t watch shows more than once but LW is funny, has good stories as well as action/adventure and is well written and acted.
I have had a pair of Dansko boots for more than a decade and they still look good, are fashionable and keep my feet good and dry. I feel pretty indestructible when I wear them. I shouldn’t have gone to look at Dansko boot images to find a link for you because they have some great lookin’ boots and I’m enticed. Good luck!
The best looking boots are sorel
Conquest Carly. I wear them
In California so I don’t know how good they would be in snow
At least take a look we like a lot of the same things !
Travelers on Netflix.. You will be hooked after the first 10 minutes.
I got these LL Bean boots for Christmas and love them! Super warm!

I’m super late to the party on this one, but Shameless!! For the past 6-ish weeks, my husband and i havent watched anything but the 7 seasons of this show every night after the little one goes to sleep.
Also, definitely Sorels! i have Joan of Artics to be worn in the actual snow. but, the caribous look pretty cute too.
I just bought a pair of Mikenna Lace-Up Rain Boots (link below) – found them at the South Hills Village Macy’s! Sturdy, comfy (not heavy at all and a good wide-foot option), and as my co-worker said, “they look like regular boots!”
http://www1.macys.com/shop/product/lauren-ralph-lauren-mikenna-lace-up-rain-boots?ID=2842670&CategoryID=25122&LinkType=&selectedSize=#fn=BRAND%3DLauren Ralph Lauren%26BOOTS_TYPE%3DRain%26sp%3D1%26spc%3D4%26ruleId%3D23|BS|BA%26slotId%3D2
Tried to like the OA- can’t do it. Maybe I am the weird one :(
OMG depending on what you’re looking for, the Sorel Joan of Arctic line is *amazing* http://www.sorel.com/joan-of-artic–boots/
I have the wedge mid-boots and they are the most comfortable wedge over worn in my life. I’m in Ottawa, Canada, and they’ve stood up perfectly to our snowy cold weather so far. They’re not heavily lined, but with a nice wool sock they do me for -15C days and warmer. They do fit a smidge on the big size, just FYI.
I just moved to Canada from South Africa where winter temperatures don’t drop much below 10C and it NEVER snows. I got UGG boots and LOVE them!
Have you watched Orphan Black? So addictive!
I work at an outdoor goods store and I’ll throw my recommendation behind just about any Sorel boot for warmth, waterproofiness and cuteness. I don’t have a pair yet but that’s my next purchase I think, since it just snowed overnight in KC.
The OA on Netflix is great. It takes a few episodes to understand what is happening, but that is what kept me watching. I really enjoyed it.
