Tuesday Things.
1. I can’t get enough of this rose cake. STUNNING.
2. As soon as I turn in the manuscript for this next book (like, in a few days!), I’m in full blown planting mode. You might remember that last year I bought these planters but they were so backordered, they didn’t come until July. Eddie put two together this weekend and they are going to be so perfect for tons of herbs and all the guacamole veggies. (<- the only ones that really matter, right?)
3. Whyyyy do I find it necessary to hold onto old calendars, planners and notebooks? I just can’t get rid of them.
4. Six reasons you’re not getting what you want. Helllllo #5.Â
5. So I think all the shows we love to watch are over now, but how freaking amazing was that Billions finale? I sound like a broken record but Damien Lewis is insaaaane. So is Paul Giamatti. So good! Now I can’t wait for Bloodline to come back… and House of Cards. Maybe.
6. Scratch that, I actually have been re-watching Felicity while shooting some recipes in my little nook as I wait for the end of the kitchen remodel. I forgot the rebellious things Felicity does in season one, like (re)writing Ben’s paper and looking at Elena’s record.
7. We all have some sort of sickness in this house which has me resorting to drinking TEA (aka, dirty water) since my throat hurts so bad. My usual tricks of constant apple cider vinegar and what no haven’t worked! I also ate a popsicle for dinner last night, so there’s that.
8. One of the best reads in a long time: learning this new self.

I think the negotiation/get what you want article left off one of the biggest of all: YOU have to know what YOU want. So often, we go into a situation with our own wants and needs muddled, and then we add on what we have heard others says we should go after. For instance, my want to be “liked” or finding a “reasonable/middle ground” got in the way of salary negotiations for a number of years. NO more. I have also noticed that some bloggers/coaches seem to price themselves a bit on the low side – why?
could not agree more – LOVE that!!!
How do you watch Felicity? I haven’t seen it on Netflix or anything….I know Bev watched it a few months ago as well. I feel like I need a good dose of 90’s tv in my life and i’m already halfway through rewatching Friends for the third time…I need a change.
Hulu! :)
i watch it on itunes – i bought all the episodes AGES ago! like as soon as i could buy them on itunes and probably before i had netflix. i’ve had them forever!
Felicity! That dear girl. The striped sweaters! The tapes! And big pants! And chunky shoes! And everyone’s big hair! #teamnoel (although his bad guy-ness in Scandal has kinda changed my outlook on him) Do you feel like you just have to visit a Dean and Deluca when you’re in NYC? I do :)
haha i always did feel that way, especially when i went my senior year of highschool (and was watching it while current!)

my friend swears by oregano oil to help get rid of a cold! i vote for the pills – the oil is super gross :X hope you feel better!
and i cannot wait for the day when i have a garden so i can plant pretty things in the spring, too! there’s something about plants and flowers that make everything so much brighter!!
i have a mix that has oil of oregano in it – it is not working this time! it usually does help!
I’m glad I’m not the only one who keeps old planners and calendars, pretty sure I still have all my middle school agendas in my closet at my parent’s house…
same!
Have you watched the amazon show Catastrophe yet? My facebook feed is blowing up with people obsessing, and i usually agree with your show likes/dislikes so wondering if you loved it too?
i have not! i will definitely look into it.
Old planners are kind of like a diary, and can come in handy or be entertaining later on. I found my dad’s planners after he died and, even though he didn’t have a ton of things in them, it is kind of nice to look through and see what he was up to….especially when I run across the times he was planning to visit us, or we were going home. I say hang onto them!
this is so true.
Ah, Jess, that’s so funny that you are watching Felicity! Â Ben was such a hottie. Â Good memories.
Regarding the sickness (and hear me out here), have you tried Fire Cider? It’s a major step up from ACV and it will knock out whatever you have. It got rid of my upper respiratory infection when I was in final bar study week! It was a lifesaver.Â
i haven’t, but oh my i need to try this!
1. I just saw those same purple-pink flowers (as in your main picture for this post) in a garden center yesterday. They are SO beautiful. Love them!
2. “I forgot the rebellious things Felicity does in season one, like (re)writing Ben’s paper and looking at Elena’s record.” Aaaaaaand, sleep with the soulful, sexy art student (oh, Simon Rex, where did you go??). That Felicity really knew how to shake things up. ;-) Such a great show!! I was (will always be) Team Noel. I’m still pissed about the very last episodes of the show, lol.
“The Americans” films right near my office in NYC, and one morning, Keri Russell walked right past me, stuffing a giant breakfast burrito in her mouth. It was a highlight of my life. She’s so tiny; I don’t know where she puts it. But lemme tell ya — girlfriend EATS. <3
ummm i would die if i saw her! girl crush forever!
Billions last episodes were spectacular! What an end to season 2! And now I’m waiting for Bloodline and time to watch House of Cards.
Also? had a total blonde moment and had gotten all excited about 3 months ago because I was thinking ‘oh the new cookbook will be out THIS spring’ wah wah wah… no. CLEARLY I’m counting down for your book (next spring)! *Your book is so well used in my house it’s ridic.
ahhh thank you so much!! next year. :)
Bloodline is not coming back. I’ve known that for a while. Better check out Catastrophe, because it’s a lot of fun -naughty, but fun.
bloodline is coming back! it premiers May 26. season 3 is the final season though!
Well, that’s good to hear. I wonder why it’s the last season, though. Are you and I the only fans? (= Thanks for letting me know…
I am the same way with my calendars and planners! I think I feel like they are like a journal? But I’m pretty sure no one is ever going to go back and read them?!
Also. Where are you watching Felicity?! Are they finally online somewhere?! I LOVE LOVE that show.
I totally read #1 as rosé cake, which totally seems like something you would make.
Tell me more about how you use ACV and other tricks! Have you every posted about them? If so, please point me to that post and if not, are you willing to share more deets?
