Tuesday Things.
1. Yesterday I finally grabbed a ton of herbs to plant. I made myself wait until I turned in my manuscript so I wouldn’t be distracted and I might have grabbed… 24 plants. Eeeep.
2. The last few days I have been dyyying over this mint chocolate chip cake. OH MY.
3. Am I the only one that can’t get into the painting + wine nights?! I wish I was interested since it seems so fun. Buuuuuut… I’d rather go drink wine on patio in the sun somewhere!
4. I’ve successfully kept one pair of sunglasses for FOUR years now (nice ones, not like $500 ones, but like… $100 ones!) without losing or breaking them. THIS HAS TO BE A RECORD.
5. I found this article on a successful entrepreneur’s schedule to be super inspiring. About 95% of the time this is how I want my life to play out, but occasionally the other 5% is “but no, I am doing this so I can do whatever I want when I want and relax and chill!”
6. No TV that we’re currently watching, but I am still rewatching Felicity. Eddie has never seen it and has caught a few episodes. It’s so funny how SLOW the show moves compared to TV today. Also, a bunch of you asked where I’m watching it and I bought all the seasons on iTunes years ago, before I even had Netflix!
7. Two shoes I cannot do are the slip on sneakers (like Vans style) and any sort of slides (like the old school Adidas ones, for seriousness) for real life living. I look ridiculous in them. SO tell me about your easy no-tie shoes that you are loving for summer. Annnnnd go!
8. Um. Not going to lie. I sort of want this unicorn bike. Will get it in my dreams.

May I suggest Catastrophe on Amazon Prime? My husband and I just started it and it’s super funny! No other good tv on right now :( I can’t wait for House of Cards!!!
someone else did suggest this last week! i’m going to start it this week!!
I came here to suggest the same show! It’s SO good and I think you’ll love it.
I have bought a pair of no laces sketchers before (I know old school ones were NOT comfy) but these were so great over the summer. They were the only pair of sneakers I could stand wearing without socks. I want to get a new pair for the summer, I am thinking gray ones this year.
I have the ked-style canvas sperrys (seacoast) in black that I absolutely love. And as far as sunglasses, I lost one pair of raybans and I swore never again so recently I’ve loved goodr brand wayfarer style sport glasses. They’re cute and actually stay on your face when working out! And I’ve done a paint night and it was the worst because I suuuuuck at painting. It’s way more fun to just drink on a deck somewhere than go through that misery.
I was terrified to spend more than $12 on sunglasses until I was in my 30s because I didn’t feel responsible enough. I have successfully kept some nicer pairs for like 3 years now! I felt like I REALLY became an adult when I could take care of nice sunglasses. Haha! :)
So funny you mention how slow moving Felicity is! I wanted to watch, I’m not sure if I’ve ever watched it’s entirety, but I couldn’t get into it because of how slow moving it was! Same with Party of 5! I’m going to keep trying. I agree with you on the paint & wine nights! I had nice sunglasses for about 2 months before our puppy decided he liked them more…grr! Gotta love him. xo
Totally agree, the whole wine and painting thing sounds like torture. Plus like what am I supposed to do with a giant painting of a tree? I love toms avalon slip on shoes!
Toms for shoes?? They have super cute prints for summer.
I have a pair of no-lace sketchers sneakers that are SO COMFY and actually look decent (because most look ridic on me too). I think they’re called “sketchers relaxed fit” sneakers. I was majorly skeptical about them but have been pleasantly surprised! I have them in a black color, which helps them blend in a little bit. I also love Toms in the summer for an easy, non-sandal shoe I can quickly slip on and run out of the house in. Also, DYING over that mint choco cake!
Here are the sneakers I have. They’re really great and look way better on! https://www.skechers.com/en-us/style/23033/relaxed-fit-breathe-easy-golden/blk
Just got my mom a pair of AllBirds slip ons for Mother’s Day. I am yet to try them myself but I hear they are so comfy and they are machine washable! https://www.allbirds.com/products/womens-wool-loungers?variant=42341516551
I love my Toms but a local artist to my town just unleashed a line with Keds are really cute!

Big no on wine + paint nights from me. I don’t see the appeal; like, I’m 100% Type-A and have zero artistic ability and I think I’d just be so stressed out that it wouldn’t be enjoyable.
I am forever on the hunt of comfy, low profile sneakers and haven’t found any right for me yet. While not weather resistant, I ADORE my TOMS. They really are that comfortable and a bit less chunky than Vans. They do stretch out with wear, so, while they’ll feel snug (in width, not length) get a pair that are true to your regular size.
I still have a pair of $14 perfect, slightly cat-eye, tortoise shell sunglasses from Old Navy that I got yeaaaaars ago. Now being the responsible adult I should get the upgraded RayBans ones but I can’t ever seem to do it. I’m 33 and still afraid I’ll lose/break them.
The painting and wine together feels so stressful, yes! I’m a doodler, though, so I think I’d just be pissed I was supposed to be painting the exact same thing that eeeeeeeveryone else was.
Hi!! I saw in your other post (congrats on baby #2!!) that you’re reading a ton…what are some of your recent favs? Looking for a good new book!!
:) Sara
A newer follower of yours… and so excited to see you’re watching Felicity. Literally just re:started it again. I have the complete series which I bought while it was on… Trying to make it fresh by including the director comments while I watch. I add subtitles so I can still catch the Felicity dialog. (Did you know that Scott Foley (Noel) was hired to play Ben, but last minute, saw Scott Speedman and made the switch 1 week before shooting Pilot!)
S1Ep1 yesterday – still heartbreaking re: Ben and her wanting to leave school at first. Sarah McLaughlin in the background… yeah tears… Still later he can be a dbag and the double standard was kind of sucky.. Still it works for me all these years later. Check out Animal House – Scott is still hot, but REALLY edgy – the show is NOT for the faint of hear tho.
No wine/painting – no great scenes for me nor the style I’d care to hang on my wall. No slip ons either. They look odd on my feet too… not sure why…
Enjoying your posts

Converse shoreline sneakers are great no tie summer sneakers. I’ve worn them for years! They go with everything :)

Best shoes in all the land: https://www.allbirds.com/. I prefer the runners, but I just bought the loungers for my mom and she lives in them.
I DO love my Vans but, I also recently discovered Soludos espadrilles. They are surprisingly comfortable. I haven’t walked miles in them by any means but for running errands & what not, they are great. They also come in a ton of cute fabrics. I also have a pair of well loved Toms. Super light & comfy.
Quay Australia sunglasses are my fav! They have so many styles: edgy/trendy/classic, and they are very affordable (not target cheap, but all are $60 (i think) or less). The slip on Chuck Taylors are my fave slip on sneaker. I also really like TOMS… Also Birkenstocks. Now hear me out- i have been wearing them since high school because of my ridiculously flat feet and they are actually- dare I say- in style now.

When I was younger I seemed to lose a pair of sunglasses every WEEK. Now I somehow ridiculously have like five pairs that are all at least two years old…my younger self would be so shocked.

I have been getting these Puma ballet flats for years and I freaking love them. So comfy for daily wear, and they still look cute: http://us.puma.com/en_US/pd/vega-ballet-flats/pna362995.html?dwvar_pna362995_color=03#start=2
Awesome for running after a small child :)
Sanuks! They’re like wearing flip flops, but they’re shoes. So cute and SO COMFY!
Instead of Paint + Wine nights, you should look into Alice’s Table! They do floral arrangements and cocktails so you can build your own centerpiece!
Felicity!!! I forgot about that show! LOVED it when it first aired. Where can I tune it to catch it?
I just landed on your site this morning (after following you on Insta for years) and have to say that I adore your writing wit and vibe. So inspiring and refreshing!
Flip flops + Vans slip-ons for me.
And congrats on the baby #2 news!!!!! Super sweet reveal post.
My absolute favorite go-to shoes for summer are the Birkenstock Mayari. Love love love. I know Birks have a clunky rap but the Mayari style is cute and comfy, comes in lots of colors, and when my feet slide into them it feels like HOME. <3 Happy sigh.
Say what you want about Crocs, but I love them! I have a pair of slip on Crocs I bought when I was pregnant 2 years ago and I love them, super comfortable and a no-slip bottom!

they are SO comfortable and you will be surprised how much you end up wearing them
I have those exact Madison sneakers in black and the light gray. I adore them. They are the most comfortable thing I have ever worn!
Sperry boat shoes! And they have some cute white sneakers with no tie laces I’ve been living in those on the weekends.
I bought these a few months ago in anticipation of summer AND being my most favorite casual sandal ever. I was right, they’re freaking amazing and PINK! 💗💯🙌🏼☀️🎀

Sanuk Donna Hemp Slip On Surfer!!! So comfy!!
I jumped on the Birkenstock bandwagon after managing to avoid it through the entire 1990’s decade, and beyond. I bought a pair of Madrid sandals in silver – they are the one strap style that look almost like the wood Dr. Scholl sandals our mothers wore in the 1970’s. LOVE these sandals. They are narrow, not like the paddle width of the regular Birks. I don’t feel like I am wearing oars on my feet. They do take some breaking in, but after about a week of wearing them in one to two hour stints, they are amazing. How did I manage to live without them? At $79, I will be buying more.
Apparently the trick to Birkenstocks is to get the narrow width, and I recently tried a pair with the soft footbed (only sold in the US). I wish the Madrid style came with that soft footbed, because it is heavenly, but I’ve not been able to make the jump to the more traditional Birk styling like the Arizona two strap variety, soft footbed or not. They are still a bit too crunchy for me. Zappos had some recently in a metallic red that I was this close to buying (think candy apple colored foil), but they sold out in my size.
I’m late to the party here, but I looked ridiculous in every pair of slip-on shoes I tried until I found the Sperry slip-one! I have them in a dusty rose color, and my sister just got them in olive. Love!
And this is my first year that I have space for an herb garden… definitely went overboard. Planned to get maybe 4 plants, but came out of Rural King with 11 herbs (9 varieties) and a 6-pack of sweet potato plants. I’m so excited about it, though!
