December Favorites: My Top Ten Beauty Finds of 2018.
As we reach the end of 2018, I’m sharing the best beauty finds I’ve made this year!
I haven’t used anything particularly new this month (aside from this Jouer palette which I absolutely LOVE!) so I figured I’d switch it up here and tell you about my top ten beauty finds this year. Things I discovered and love and can’t imagine my beauty routine without.
It was tricky narrowing things down to ten, but these are all from 2018. Of course I talk about so many other things I adore in my favorites posts, but these are new to 2018 for me and things that really changed the game! I’d love to hear some of your favorite finds below! xo
My Top 10 Beauty Finds of 2018
Dr. Dennis Gross Daily Peel Pads. While these are in no particular order, this is by far my most used, loved and can’t-live-without product of 2018. I am so glad I discovered these! They have improved brightness and texture in my skin so much. I can’t even explain how much I love them.
Milk Makeup Eye Pigment. Since grabbing one of these in Chicago on my book tour, I have practically used nothing else on my eyes. I always use this during the week as my minimal makeup and I often use it under more dramatic eye looks. I love that the color can be built up or sheered out. These are so amazing.
Le Volume de Chanel Mascara. Bought on a whim during Nordstrom’s mascara madness sale early this year, I never expected (or wanted to) fall in love with this mascara. But I’ve used nothing else since and it remains my current favorite!
RMS Magic Luminizer. Coming in at a very close second to my absolute favorite product of the year, this is GOLD. I use this every single day. Technically, I bought it at the end of last year but it has been such a staple in my routine that I couldn’t not mention it. It gives such a natural glow.
Dr Jart Cicapair Color Correcting Treatment. If you have any redness or uneven tone on your face, you will be shocked at what a difference this makes. I don’t use it every single day, but occasionally I use this on its own and I use it as a primer on days when I want/need more makeup. It makes your skin tone SO even – you will actually be shocked at the result.
Too Faced Born This Way Concealer. This is a fairly new find but a fantastic one, nonetheless. It has completely replaced Tarte Shape Tape for me. It’s more moisturizing, is a better color fit and goes on more smoothly under the eyes.
Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Flawless Filter. Another product I use almost daily – for the glow and gorgeous effect it gives the skin. I either mix this in with tinted moisturizer or I put it all over my face first before applying a slightly heavier BB cream. It’s so gorgeous.
Fresh Rice Sake Bath. I’m super nervous that this might be discontinued since it’s sold out everywhere, but in the case that it’s not, I had to mention it! This made baths life-changing for me. I have never used a bath product so intensely relaxing. It’s like the moment I sit in a bath using this, I feel any anxiety or tension melt away.
Redken Hot Sets 22 Thermal Setting Mist. I’ve been using this since early 2018 – it’s a heat protectant, but also adds MAJOR hold to your hair without giving it that hairspray-crisp vibe. You know? I only use it when curling my hair with a wand, iron or hot rollers, but it works great.
Tom Ford Soleil Blanc. I love so many perfumes, but this was my most worn in 2018 and one I can’t stop thinking about! I set it aside come fall to wear some of my warmer, heavier scents and I can’t wait to start using it again. It’s such a lovely scent!
[as usual, none of this is sponsored and all of these products were purchased by me. i am not affiliated with any of the companies above, nor do i accept free products. just love to talk about what i like, makeup junkie to makeup junkie. there are some amazon and general reward style affiliate links above. thank you for being here!]

Have you heard of the podcast Forever35? You need to be a guest on it! It’s all things self-care with lots of great product discussions. I’ll keep plugging you!
i have not!! i have to check it out! thanks becca! :)
i love forever 35 as well !!!
How often do you use the face peel wipes? Daily or less? I might finally try them!!
i use them every other day, but only because i love sunday riley good genes so much and have used that for years. so i alternate between the two! if i didn’t use good genes, i would use them everyday!

Love this list!! I think I may have a few of these items already!! *wink* I’m wondering if anyone can recommend a good curling iron/rod/whatever you call them – ya know the ones that give you those big, sexy waves? I’m pretty inept when it comes to putting a curl in my hair so keep that in mind. TIA!
I asked this question at Ulta and was directed to a set of curlers. Like the type you plug in to warm up, roll up, leave to sit for a while. I’m also inept at curling my hair and this is been a game changer!
my favorite curling wand and irons are the T3! i have used tons over the years and this one comes with 3 sizes but it is pricey. i suggest getting it when sephora has a sale!
however, i also am a huge proponent of hot rollers, haha! i use them weekly and have since i was a tween (which i know sounds ridiculous!). i feel like they hold the curl to my hair so much. and technically, they are easier then a wand or iron. i put my hair up in less than 10 minutes, then let it sit while i do makeup, get ready, get the kids ready, etc. take it out once i’m ready to go!
Which color do you like of the milk eye pigments?
hotel lobby (champagne) and after party (rose gold-ish) are my favorites!
I love these posts so much! I come back to them again and again! I bought the daily face peels on your recommendation during the sale. I have noticed a softness that wasn’t there before. How do you envision incorporating them into your routine going forward? I hate using expensive products more often than necessary.
as of right now, i think that i will probably always use them, at least every other day like i am now. i am not sure if i would ever use them daily since they are expensive. some people have also recommended cutting them in half and storing the other half in a ziplock bag to get 2 uses out of each sheet. i’m not sure if that would lessen the effects at all?!
but! the way i look at it is i am so much more focused on skincare now instead of makeup. it happened naturally and wasn’t something i changed overnight, and it’s probably a product of having young kids and having less time daily to do makeup. but i like to think that i swapped the money i used to spend on makeup to skincare. :)
I agree with any RMS Luminizer and Chanel Le Volume mascara. Some of my favorite items too!
they are the best!!

I am very new to using any tool on my hair but have been trying to step up my game with a new curling iron. I know, the world just passes me by :) Do you use the Redken product on wet hair? dry hair? on top of another hair product? I don’t think I’m doing anything right! Seem to go to a lot of effort and an hour later, I’ve got frizzy hair and nooooo curl left! Help!!!!!
i use the redken on dry hair, right as i’m about to curl! like i section out a piece of hair to curl, spray it, and curl it. you don’t want to do your whole head at once because it can get a little tangly. this product definitely helps hold the curl!!
I’ve been dying to try the Sake Bath and I cannot find it anywhere. BUT Fresh’s site says coming soon so yay!
i hope so!!! i absolutely love it and need more! if you get to try it, let me know what you think.
The Sake bath is so sold out, ugh! I have several new products in my Sephora cart now. Thank you!
i know! i’m really hoping it comes back soon!
Have you heard of Divincity.com? I get most of my perfumes there, they have some amazing prices!
i haven’t! thanks for the suggestion!
I just sprang for the daily peel pads and color correcting treatment. Can’t wait to try them. Thanks for the fabulous recommendations as always!
ahhh love it rose! i hope you love them!
I also love Born this Way concealer and just smelled the Tom Ford perfume at the end of the year and WOW its on my birthday list for next august already ! I also started using Nars foundation and love Sheer Glow and the Radiance one and love both in 2018. I continued to love LaLa cream and Sunday Riley Juno oil. Dry skin hit me again in 2018 and i think sadly its here to stay ! i gotta try the pads sometime…
I have very red cheeks and am excited to try out the color correcting treatment. When you use it, do you also use moisturizer? If so, before or after the treatment? I always love reading your recommendations!
the Chanel mascara is EVERYTHING!!!! Love your blog. U told me about iced egg nog lattes and now I need to try an iced blonde vanilla latte. Your margarita recipes give me life.
LOVE this post so much!! No joke, I’m heading to Sephora after work to try those BITE pencils! I have been looking for a stain or tinted balm for so long without any luck and these seem like a great option to try! Thank you!!
