Tropical Smoothie + Back Workout

smoothie

I woke up to a little more snow this morning, wishing I was 10 years old and school would be cancelled. I still don’t want to be a grown up.   I made an awesome tropical smoothie to go with breakfast: -ice water -orange juice -frozen banana -vanilla extract -cake batter protein powder   It tasted an orange julius + gave me 2 servings of fruit.   I am super excited because my hubby won 2 tickets to a sneak peek of Sherlock Holmes tonight!   We are going to see the movie and go out to dinner at PF Changs or Bravo. We never have dates on weeknights with work + commuting + gym taking up most of our time. It will be really fun!   What is your favorite muscle group to work? I love back and triceps. I tend to do mostly full body and upper/lower splits, but if I ever do body part splits, I live for back & triceps day!   25 Days of Workouts WORKOUT #17 – BACK & TRICEPS   All exercises are 4 sets of 12 Pullups + Rear delt flyes Seated row + Overhead triceps extension Lat Pulldown + Triceps Dips Front [...]

Snow + Booty-Kickin’ Leg Workout

IMG_2884

Like alot of others, we were snowed in yesterday. I love the snow. See how pretty? So – how long do we think it will take before my hubby gets sick from shoveling snow in a long sleeve shirt and shorts, after his run + workout in which he was drenched with sweat? At least he had on a hat, right? I spent the entire day inside, with 3 of my best friends. I couldn’t ask for a better time or more fabulous conversation. After shopping all today, I wanted to make a few more treats before Christmas. Actually, I need to do something to take my mind off babies after shopping in the infant section this afternoon. I took a hint from 2 of my favorite bloggers – Sabrina & Erica. I made a huge batch of chocolate covered pretzels. They were so fun to make! Some covered in sprinkles: Candy canes: Toffee bits: Peanut butter cups: Snickers bars: And pecans + sea salt (my fave!): I also made some chocolate covered Oreos. ‘Twas a great day! This upcoming week is one of my most favorite times. I can’t wait to spend it with friends and family. Since I [...]

More Treadmill HIIT.

IMG_2879

Good evening. I’ve been cleaning and relaxing this evening, with one of my most favorite candles burning: And the trees lit: With some Christmas music playing. My favorite way to relax! I have been craving Thai food for weeks. My hubby and I used to eat it all the time – in fact we ate it on our first New Year’s Eve together. Unfortunately, someone has a habit of eating something 6 times a day everyday until they are sick of it. Hint: it’s not me. I made my own peanut sauce w/ some whole wheat noodles and shrimp. The year is winding down and exercise is probably one of the last things on your list, right? Just think – in 2 more weeks it is a new year, and time to start over! Wrong. Have many other times have we made ‘resolutions’? They obviously haven’t stuck, and it’s time to change somethin’! Think of some small changes you can make in the next 2 weeks that will make you feel better and more confident. Everyone falls off the wagon sometimes, but the key is being able to get right back on. So start eating healthier today, right now, at [...]

Arms, Arms, Arms.

One of the biggest complaints I hear about from women is how ‘flabby’ their arms are. I normally don’t condone working 1 body part at a time (well, 2, in this case), and by no means think that one certain workout will change a person’s body. But here is a killer arm workout that I thought ya’ll would enjoy. 25 Days of Workouts WORKOUT #14 – BICEPS AND TRICEPS 20 push-ups 4 x 12 reps: Triceps Overhead Extension Triceps Rope Pulldown Triceps Dips 20 push-ups 4 sets 12 reps: Incline Biceps Curls Standing Barbells Curls Hammer Curls 20 push-ups Remember: use a challenging weight! By the 12th repetition, it should be extremely challenging! A while back I mentioned my favorite push-up trick: perform a certain number of push-ups everyday! They will eventually get easier, and you’ll feel stronger. If you can only do 1, continue with that every day until you can do 2, and so one. Set a goal to do 10 each day, and GET THEM DONE. Who’s been keepin’ up?

Whole Wheat Breaded Crispy Chicken + Track Workout.

IMG_2856

I can’t believe Christmas is so close! I am very excited, but sometimes I miss the innocent excitement from when I was a kid. Like feeling that Christmas break last forrevvvver, when it was really only 10 days. Or waking up on Christmas morning. Or truly analyzing if Santa was real. I still think he is. I have been lacking dinner ideas lately. I think my brain is fried from holiday baking. I did remember that a few weeks ago my hubby asked if I could make him a ‘healthy’ fried chicken. I was on a mission. I couldn’t allow him to return to a daily dinner of plain egg whites and plain pasta. That would also mean I’d have to fumigate my house. I made an oat flour (my friend, Cindy’s, idea). Then dipped the chicken in the oat flour, egg, and whole wheat bread crumbs, and put in a pan with some olive oil. If you don’t have whole wheat bread crumbs, you can make your own! I usually toast up some ezekiel bread and throw it into the food processor. Voila! The final product: Hubby said it tasted like Long John Silver’s chicken. I’ve never eaten there, [...]

Workout Excuses + 30 Min Total Body Workout.

IMG_2853

Happy Monday. How was yours? I kind of had a bummy day, but when I arrived home and saw what was on my doorstep, I got sooo excited. I won a Utah Kernels popcorn giveaway from Megan Munchies, and just look at these flavors! Chocolate Orange, Chocolate Avalanche, Cinnamon and Cotton Candy! Of course, I had to try the cotton candy flavor because it is hot pink. It is so delicious. Hopefully I can restrain myself a bit. It’s not like I needed more goodies in the house. Did you get a workout in today? If you’ve set any goals this December, have you followed any of them? Trust me, I know it is hard right now. I am slacking majorly. But there is no way I am waiting until January first. Do you know how much damage one can do with my appetite?? There are some days where I will use any excuse to not exercise. It’s raining. I have to to much to do. I have too many cookies to eat. I love to workout, and love how it makes me feel, but some days I just need an extra little kick in the booty. Know what I mean? [...]

Friends + 5 Minute Lower Body Workout

IMG_2710

For those of you that know me, you know I am a complete shoe fanatic. I have this wonderful hubby who also loves to buy me shoes. He bought me shoes for one of our first holidays together – I believe it was Christmas? – and I knew he was a keeper.   So imagine how excited I was when I won a giveaway on Miss Vinyl Ahoy’s blog. Check out my prize.   Shoes + hot pink. My life is complete. Check out her Etsy shop and get one for yourself! Or your shoe-loving companion.   Yes. My husband buys me shoes. He also surprises me with chocolate. (As if I need any more.)      Did you know that Godiva has a rewards card? You get a free truffle each month.   He brought me home a peppermint truffle and some chocolate covered strawberries because we adore them. Godiva also threw in a dark chocolate truffle, probably because we are such great customers.   Last night my friends Kelly and Dan came over for dinner. Dan was shocked by the blog a few weeks ago and really wanted me to make dinner for him. Luckily, he brought [...]

What Are You Waiting For? + 5 Minute Upper Body Workout

cookie

Do you ever feel overwhelmed, like there is no possible way that you can do it all? Work, exercise, clean – how is there time to fit everything in? I know I feel this way often, and have to work hard to stop the feeling of being completely overwhelmed. This especially happens during the holidays. Have you set any goals recently? Have you failed to follow them? If so, don’t get down on yourself! It is very hard to follow anything this time of year. It is so cold that it is hard to get out of bed in the morning. There are so many holiday parties in the evenings, that you’ve skipped a few workouts.   Don’t worry about it! Start right now. Do something that will make you feel good about yourself. Write down a goal.  Prepare some healthy meals for tomorrow. Clean up your bathroom. Whatever it takes – make yourself feel good TODAY.   Think about what is holding you back. Would you rather wait until after Christmas when you are 5 lbs heavier? Are you waiting for the hustle and bustle to over? It’s always easier to find an excuse than make a change. Make [...]

Whole Wheat Stromboli’s + Beginner Plyos.

IMG_2695

Ohmigoodness. Tonight’s dinner was so much fun. I loved making it.   After seeing a stromboli recipe on My Kitchen Addiction this morning, I had an undying urge to make one. I had no clue how I would make it, or if I would even have time.   I made my whole wheat pizza dough when I got home, then set off for a workout while it was rising.     I found a whole wheat pizza dough recipe online about 3-4 years ago, around the time my hubby and I started dating. I am not sure where I found it (sorry!), but I modified it to make it 100% whole wheat. I made one batch, which fills a large rectangular baking sheet. I actually measured while I was making it tonight so I could share the recipe with you!   Whole Wheat Pizza Dough 1 packet active dry yeast 1 cup warm water 2 tablespoons olive oil 1 tablespoon honey 1/4 teaspoon sea salt 2 1/4 cups whole wheat flour Mix yeast and warm water, and let sit until foamy, about 15 minutes. Add 1 tablespoon olive oil and honey to the yeast. Mix together. Add whole wheat flour [...]

Food Blogger Friend + Lower Body w/ Resistance Bands.

IMG_2415

When Julie suggested doing a food blogger swap, I thought it was a fabulous idea and was super excited. We had planned on sending each other some local foods and things from around our area.   Julie did an awesome job! Me? My items were a bit random, because I just couldn’t figure out how to send a package of Primanti’s sandwiches and thought sending a bottle of Heinz ketchup was lame. Head on over to Julie’s blog to see what I sent her.   Her package was incredible.   She sent me a bag of pumpkin Kisses, since I couldn’t find them anywhere around here. She also sent me Glo Bars, which really thrilled me since I had just finished mine. I also got to try some flavors that I didn’t order. She also added the newer Larabar flavors, which I haven’t got around to tasting yet.   This may have been the best product she sent.   Maple butter! Oh my goodness – this is so delicious. I love it. I am ready to move to Wisconsin.     Also in the package was some special pepper seasoning from her local farmer’s market, including recipes.   I [...]
