My Kind of Tree.
Happy Saturday!
This morning, I repeated my dinner from last night, but in a double dose.
The orange juice made this meal. I haven’t had orange juice in ages – I never have drank much more than water, because I love it. But my husband has been having a glass of OJ in the morning, and I joined in the fun today. It was so refreshing. :)
After a fun filled day of decorating (love it), cooking (love it more), cleaning (ugh…I didn’t clean the toilet though), and organizing, I ran out to return some lights that we didn’t need.
I got an eggnog latte:
Not too sure how I feel about this. I enjoy a sip of eggnog during the holidays, but not much (again, I don’t like many drinks other than water. Or wine. Or margaritas. You get the jist.). This was not quite sweet enough for me since I do not love coffee, and it had way too much nutmeg – which I normally love.
So I did this instead.
Much better.
We have 2 family rooms in our house, which means 2 Christmas trees. :)
Actually, we only have 2 trees for a very good reason. Last year, when we lived in the wonderful castle, my hubby surprised me with a Christmas tree. Being the biggest bachelor on earth, he had never had decorations. I threw tantrums everyday while living there was none too happy about our living situation, so I didn’t plan to decorate.
A few days before Christmas, while I was baking cookies at my parent’s house, he bought and decorated a tree. He had orginally bought a beautiful tree that was a great deal.
It was 8 feet tall.
It obviously didn’t fit, so he went out and bought a second tree. The first was non-returnable, leaving us with 2 trees.
This made me extremely excited! Yes – I am usually one to decorate right after Thanksgiving, but with some busy weekends coming up and my incessant harassing of my husband, I began to decorate last week.
The back family room is where the big tree went. I knew I wanted the color theme to be deep reds, festive purples, a bit of pinks, golds and greens. These are a few of the ornaments that I love.
Just a few of these beauties scattered throughout the tree.
Here is a crackberry pic – the best one I have at the moment.
I’m spending the rest of the evening hanging with my hubby and brother, eating some snacks and drinking some wine.
Sounds fun, right? It will be.
But this just means 2 times the man-stink in my house tonight. Candles are a’burnin’.
Starting tomorrow, I’ll be featuring Holiday Appetizers 101 for all of your entertaining needs. In the meantime, make this chocolate cake. :)

Pretty. I need to get to it. Can’t wait to read your Holiday Appetizer posts.
Beautiful! I decorated this week, too. Love the bachelor pad pics. My husband is a decade older, too, and we are still in negotiations regarding tennis trophies, vision boards with Sears models and a mechanical dart board.
xo
Ornaments are, by far, one of the best things of the season :-)
i’m trying to convince josh we need more trees. we have three living rooms. i think that means 3 trees. plus one for outside on our deck.
i see nothing wrong with my ideas
I love this post!
Your ornaments are gorgeous. When I was a little girl my mom bought me an ornament per year. As an adult, I have prized ornaments from my childhood, one each year that’s saved in tissue & newspaper.
Eggnog latte and not being sweet enough…I am sick. I put a ridic amt of sugar, splenda, truvia, whatever I can find in my coffee. I like it sweet & creamy. I am addicted to the sweet and to the caffeine so I am hopelessly hooked :)
beautiful!! i have never decorated like that but have alwyas wanted to :) loks awesome!!
eggnog isn’t quite my thing :-\ but the oreo looked like itmade it much better

Very nice. You’re tree looks beautiful, probably because I like purple and pink!
All of my ornaments at home look like that!!! My mom and i loooove getting fun sparkly ornaments that are all sequined and girly :D Love itttt! Also love eggnog, I haven’t tried the latte but I think I prefer the pure form :D
Wow, GORGEOUS!! You have similar tastes as my aunt who always goes crazy for Christmas and her ornamanets are big and flashy like yours. I really like that look, a lot, but I grew up with a simple and slightly boring (haha) mom. She didn’t like to decorate much at all! Your tree looks great JEssica!
Gorgeous tree!
Your tree is so pretty! I can’t decide how much decorating I’ll be able to do this year since I’ll be in the middle of a move so I’m going to live vicariously through the blogs. The more pics the better!
My wife and I have started a little tradition where we always decorate on either Friday or Saturday after Thanksgiving. Since we are both off work, it usually works out to be a good time to do it. As much as anything else, I like to go ahead and do it then, because I absolutely hate the thought of decorating for Christmas only a week before, and then having to take it all back down so quickly. So for me, if I don’t do it this weekend, I probably won’t want to at all.
We have 2 family rooms too, and so my wife insists on having 2 trees. She says it is so that we can have one visible from the front of the house, and one for us, but I think it is just an excuse to buy more ornaments (one of her favorite things).
