Whole Wheat Chocolate Peanut Butter Pancakes.
When I was growing up, I loved the nights my mom would make breakfast for dinner. Usually, it came in the form of eggs, and maybe some ham.
We never had pancakes, because my dad is the king of pancakes.
I have to be careful how I word this, because in our house, Mr. How Sweet thinks that he is the king of pancakes.
It’s a nice, little friendly competition.
The best part is, that my dad doesn’t even think it’s a competition.
Whereas everytime I bite into a pancake of Mr. How Sweet’s, he is practically on top of me asking who’s pancakes taste better.
I am an equal opportunity pancake lover.
I really love drizzling peanut butter on pancakes.
But in my true gluttonous fashion, I want to keep adding more and more and more peanut butter . . .
You get the drift.
A serving size is rarely enough for me.
So this time, I thought I would add the peanut butter to the pancake batter. And then eat them for dinner. Because a dinner that includes peanut butter and chocolate just may be the best thing in the world. And the reason that I hate vegetables.
Who wants a side of vegetables with their chocolate and peanut butter? Not I.
I melted the peanut butter, and then swirled it around in the whole wheat pancake batter.
And what is peanut butter without chocolate?
It is nothing, that’s what it is.
They go hand in hand, so I had to throw in a few chocolate chips.
Topped with a touch of gooey maple syrup, these pancakes are heart healthy and will make your tummy happy.

I appreciate you so much!
Do I dare say that I liked these pancakes better than my dad’s and Mr. How Sweet’s?
I can’t really judge, because food always tastes better when someone else makes it.
But, they are super tasty. Try them. They will make you giddy.

oooh and aaaah, these look so good. Nice too that they are whole wheat.
oooh I should NOT have read this – it made me too hungry!!! :)
I am not too sure if I could love something I made myself, food ALWAYS tastes better when someone else makes it. I say you request samples form the two men in your life as you judge the “real” winner!
Haha, isn’t that how it is…the husband and the father at ends. I’m sure they aren’t REALLY fighting though.
Food looks great though! (as usual!)
You’re just simply amazing. The ideas in your lovely head! Keep them popping! :D
I’ll take a huge stack of these, please. but without the chocolate.
Mmmm….I love pancakes but I rarely eat them because I can eat pounds of them and I’m hungry an hour later….these might do the trick! Thanks!
I am having real peanut cravings lately, I should give these a spin :)

This is what I do with my pancakes!! ACtually when I was growing up my mom used to use peanut butter chips and chocolate chips, then a few years ago I randomly started swirling PB into my pancake mix, and Nick LOVES i (so do I). It really adds a whole different dimension to the pancake, and of course makes them taste wonderful! Great recipe Jessica. I think you’re the QUEEN of pancakes :)
I’ve never put chocolate chips in my PB pancakes. You may have just given me an excuse to do it next time. =)
Ahhh! look how you captured the essence of the syrup dripping off the pancake. Dem cakes look damn good.
Those sound great! I love the addition of the chocolate chips! Great idea :)

I don’t have the oil – is there another substitute that I can use? like veggie oil?
Yep, I think any other oil would work fine.
Mmm I just made these and they are divine. I added a banana to the batter and used almond butter instead of pb. So good! Thanks for the recipe!
