I Swear I’m Not Italian.
I don’t even know me anymore.
I am a self-proclaimed hater of tomato sauce, basil and a slew of other flavors that are associated with Italian food.
So can someone please explain today to me?
Let’s begin with lunch. I picked up some delicious ingredients at the store earlier today, and just wanted to have something light because I want to be super hungry for the delicious dinner I had planned.
This happened:
[toasted whole grain baguette with roma tomatoes, fresh mozzarella and cherry balsamic vinegar BROILED + a little basil on top]
I don’t even think I will be eating anything other than this for the rest of my life.
Oh my gosh.
At least I felt that way until dinner.
[meatballs for the boys – so they wouldn’t have a coniption.]
[I swear there is salad under the croutons.]
[maybe.]
[tomato cream sauce.]
2 words.
FOOD COMA.

I love Italian Sundays!! This is how I grow up and miss it.
Mmmm!! It all looks great!
Yum, it looks wonderful. Also, isn’t tomato cream sauce the best thing ever? Seriously, I can’t imagine a life without heavy cream.
Fresh mozz is crack.
That all looks like somethin my mama would make!! YUMMMMMM!! :)
Boy, you sure ate well today! :) Great photos, too. You even made raw meatballs look good!

I just saw Dellalo’s pasta! Oh my goodness do I miss that store in Jeanette! They cooked brussel sprouts the one day, and that is how I stumbled upon my love for those wonderful vegetables.

Why have I never thought to broil my tomato + mozzarella creations. Genius!
WOW the baguettes look awesome – so yummy. I never broil mine – what a terrific customization. ps- hater of basil and tomato sauce?! really???
I would totally welcome the food coma that results from having this meal. Looks delicious.
OMG. This food looks AMAZING. It is making me wish I didn’t vow to eat lighter fare this week! The melted cheese on that baguette is all I will think about for the next week. It will tell me over and over to go and buy fresh mozza. I will have no choice but to obey. I have always been a good listener.
Wow that dinner looks like it was made for ME! Sounds exactly like something I would cook up in my kitchen. I have always had a big LOVE for all Italian foods, I can’t help myself. :)
Ok, Jessica…after your post (in your recipe section) yesterday, I decided to venture out of my comfort zone (your fabulous recipes) into your Fit Bites section. I thought this would be exercise tips and workout routines. Imagine my shock (and delight!) to find that you also post recipes here! I spent the last 30 minutes reading the Fit Bites archives, and I am so glad that I entered into this “new territory”! Your workout routines are killer, and I love your vacation posts! You really are a fabulous photographer and writer, and I can’t wait to visit this section of your blog more often! :-)
Maybe you are turning a new leaf?
oh my… how did I MISS THIS ??
looks amazeballs. even the meatballs :)
and that salad made me laugh… that is MY kind of salad – crouton to lettuce ratio about 65-35 :D
