Tuesday Things.
1. It’s that time of year again… Kate Spade sample sale! Love yourself.
2. Don’t listen to what anyone else tells you about #1. I give you permission. That’s all that matters.
3. It’s rare that I don’t finish books I begin reading, but after grabbing this one I can say that five pages in I wanted to quit, and now 158 pages in I am for sure quitting. Can’t even take it. This hasn’t happened in YEARS.
4. This is my new favorite breakfast! English muffins, eggs, roasted red peppers and fresh mozzarella.
Actually, that’s sort of a lie. I totally forgot about it until I was looking through my iPhone today. But I assure you that starting tomorrow? It will definitely be my new favorite breakfast.
5. Two weekends ago, while eating at BRGR, my husband had a burger… truffle fries… crack chips… and a giant milkshake after multiple {alcoholic} drinks. He then decided he was still hungry and ordered another shake… but before bringing it to him, they came out to “confirm” the order because WHO ORDERS ANOTHER SHAKE after all of that food?!
6. He does.
7. Kristan was killing me this weekend. But ummm… someone should tell her that Ryan G is mine. AWKWARD.
8. I went to “buy a new hairbrush” at Ulta this weekend and came home $150 poor. They really need to stop stealing my money.
9. I’m fairly certain that I’m moving to a different state based on their unseasonable availability of strawberries. We’re going through massive Sam’s Club-sized bags at least once a week. And that doesn’t count the day when I opened up the freezer and they all spilled onto the floor.
10. I ate them anyway. Frozen stuff is like… frozen from all diseases and dirt.
11. You know… I think heaven is made up of people who wash your hair and give you scalp massages while doing so. Like for all of eternity.

I felt the same way about that book. But I stuck it out and finished it. And felt the same way at the end as I did at the beginning. BLECH.
worst book ever.
Did you try to watch the movie? 15 minutes and I turned it off. Waste of a Redbox rental!
…that awkward moment when you realize that you and your bloggy friend share a virtual boyfriend. Sigh.
Also, I spied a chocolate bar clutch when I perused the sample sale yesterday. If not for the fact that I spent a ridiculous amount of $$ on a Kate Spade tote a week ago (which I lied to my husband about the price), it would have been mine all mine. Please tell me you know SOMEONE who snagged one of those babies up.
Don’t quit the book. It gets better. Promise.
I’ve been eyeing the chocolate clutch for months!
You always make me laugh. Love your blog :-)
i had NO IDEA about this kate spade sample sale!!! where have i been? you’re my new BFF Jessica.
I’d stop reading! It doesn’t end happily, well I don’t think so anyway. english muffins look delicious!
OMG! I stopped reading that book too! Called it at 126… couldn’t go on. And I also almost never put down a book half way. It’s still on might night stand taunting me because I didn’t finish :P Rewarded myself with reading the Hunger Games books and restored my faith. Great books :)
I think this is the first thing I’ve ever disagreed with you on – I read One Day a long time ago and actually liked it! I didn’t love the end, which is why I haven’t seen the movie yet, but probably will eventually.
Also, frozen things are definitely immune to floor diseases. Hell, yesterday I was making a jalapeno popper grilled cheese sandwich and the freakin thing in all its buttery goodness slid off the spatula on the way to my plate and went splat on the floor. I ate it anyway because I had spent so much time roasting jalapenos and cooking bacon and was really really looking forward to eating it!
You’re so bad to send me to the Kate Spade sale! :) Or maybe I’m bad, because after looking at all those pretty sale purses, I decided I wanted one of the baby bags. Note: I have no babies, just a desire for that black and white purse…
I couldn’t put One Day down. I read it in a night (a long night, when I should have been sleeping) I couldn’t figure out how they would make it into a movie though…
that breakfast looks PHENOM!!!!! throw on some pesto :)
um, I loved One Day! but not the movie!
I also believe Heaven is full of people who blow dry your hair…my arms get too tired
You know, I thought about watching “One Day”, I watched the preview again, and decided against it. I would definitely never read it, because the only thing worse than a seemingly boring movie, is a boring book.
Here in West Palm Beach, fresh Florida strawberries are 3 for $5 this week :-p And they are awesome!

Jessica you are a hoot! I love reading your blog! Ulta and Sephora are so addicting. Such a girly store, and I love it! Hey… awhile ago in one of your posts you mentioned another store similar to Ulta. I know we have one in West Palm Beach, but now I can’t remember the name? XoXo
hmmmm I did?? I usually only shop at Ulta or Sephora… I don’t think I go to any others??
I know you mentioned that you went to LUSH once and stocked up on lip gloss and other goodies! I only remember because after that post I was walking through the mall and went in the store (that I’ve previously passed a bazillion other times) and bought lip gloss… oh yeah and sugar lip scrub!!
I quit the first time I read the book and a few months later, when it was the last thing on the shelf, I gave it another try. It really does get better.. don’t give it up.
That is so not fair you posted the Kate Spade sale link. Seriously, sitting here debating on a pair of shoes that I have no real need for-urgh.
Heaven will for sure have scalp massagers at your beck and call. I mean does life get any better.
This post made me laugh, your husband and my boyfriend as SO on the same wavelength!
If you liked BRGR, you must try Burgatory! You have to go at a really awkward time because the wait time gets insane, but it’s definitely worth your while! Their alcoholic milkshakes (and burgers & fries & cocktails of course) are RIDIC! :)
Yes! Burgatory is insanely good. Wait times are crazy, but oh so worth it.
I actually enjoyed that book… until the end, which made me want to poke out my eyeballs. (I was on my honeymoon, which made it doubly depressing.) I was going to sell it to the used bookstore, but then I didn’t want to subject anyone else to that crap–so I cut it up and used it in a collage, instead. Yes, really.
Moral of the story: if you already don’t like it, you should really really really stop now. It only gets worse.
BRGR is so wonderful – I could eat their fries and shakes all.day.long. Well, probably not their shakes – one of those is filling enough but YUM. Now I want to go there this weekend.
Does #11 mean you got a haircut recently? If so, do you mind sharing where you go? That is, if you like that person.
I go to Greg at Salon Dematteo in Monroeville and adore him – but he has been doing my hair since I was 5 yrs old. I love everyone there but it can be a long wait to get an appointment with him, so if you don’t want to wait I suggest making one with Beth, who is his niece. She’s awesome.
I have the same problem with books. No matter how much I am not enjoying them I just cannottt stop reading a book half way through. It is like a crime or something. I loved One Day though! Maybe you will start liking it if you keep going?
So weird about Ulta…they steal my money too! So does Target.
I completely understand about the strawberries. I think you’re a south hills person like me so in May you’ll have to go to Simmons farm and pick them yourself. It’s so much fun and a lot cheaper! Also Trax Farms has a strawberry festival full of lots of delicious foods!
I pushed through One Day and didn’t totally hate it by the end. The movie though? Don’t even bother.
I DIDN’T EVEN KNOW THERE WAS A SAMPLE SALE ON. I LOVE AND DIE FOR KATE SPADE.
just ordered the barclay street bradley and the portola. now i’m trying to justify one of the dresses by telling myself that it’s named after me, AND HOW OFTEN DO YOU SEE THAT?!
Oh thank you, I thought I was the only person in the world who didn’t LOVE One Day! Silly book thinks it’s different and profound, it’s not.
I tried watching that movie, and same thing! Could barely get through it. I wanted to like it too!
Thank you for your permission! My husband would be a tad bit upset if I spent over $100 on a purse… Boo. Do men stop eating? Would their hell be a place with limited amounts of food?
OMG – THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU….not only for always providing such ingenious and delicious recipes, but for sharing the Kate Spade sample sale!! I have had my eye on a bag for almost a YEAR, but have not pulled the trigger because I couldn’t justify the more than $300 price tag. It is going into my shopping cart right now. THANK YOU!!!!
Re: #3. I know the feeling. I now *make* myself turn to the back and read the last chapter so I can call it done. (It works–my mind will actually believe it.)
Quit that book too…don’t watch the movie either, its just a story you really don’t need to know. I was horrified that I wasted brain cells on both, and now I can never restore said brain cells to their former, unknowing glory.
oh the book is so so good…keep going. it gets great!!
Oh no!!! We might not be able to be friends anymore! I loved One Day it was one of my all time favorite books!!!
I did not make it past page 32 of One Day. It was awful.
I love your new breakfast obsession. Cept I would need some salmon lox….lots of salmon lox. MMMM lox…
I’ve never been to Ulta we have one in town and I’m scared I’ll go broke there. It’s like a gigantic Sephora.
I love english muffins!
Oh thank you for admitting that One Day is an absolutely awful mix of all the worst chick lit cliche’s ever created!! I posted on my blog how I couldn’t finish it and I got some backlash on how its a great book and I need to keep going. I read a few more chapters and said No.Way.Ever. Make it stop. It’s painful. I probably stopped on page 158 too. So many blogs I read have done reviews on it recently saying they loved it, I was seriously starting to think there was something wrong with me.
I couldn’t even pay attention long enough to watch the movie (that darn un-diagnosed ADD:) ).. and usually books are better than the movies… soooooo I would venture to say the book really isn’t any good!
great post, as usual! My dream bag is a large, black, shiny kate spade brief case. sigh. Ulta is also my fav. Can’t do strawberries because oddly enough, I am allergic, but blueberries have often tried to attack me when I open the freezer. I do love seeing you in my inbox! Your posts make me laugh.
I felt exactly the same way about One Day. I had heard RAVE reviews about this book & maybe that was the reason I felt so “ho-hum” about it. I perservered & finished it but didn’t feel any better about it. A depressing ending and altogether an over-rated novel. I heard the movie is even worse so I won’t even bother. BTW, that breakfast looks divine. Could become my new favourite also. PS. I’ll fight you for The Gos!! I like him even more after seeing the You Tube video where he broke up a fight – in real life! :-)
Funny you say that, I purposely skip washing my own hair JUST to have it shampooed at the salon for the pleasure of feeling the fingernails & scalp massage,…I make up lil reasons to go like….oh, I’ll go get my hair straightened. OOH I can go get a conditioning treatment!…I think I’ll go and have her put my hair in rollers…How about a trim inbetween cutting my layers….And everytime, I ask her to go home with me! she replies, “only if you rub my feet and back” and then I say, ok! I’ll rub your feet and back first because I will be sleeping after you shampoo and massage my head!
I felt the EXACT same way about Eat, Pray, Love. It takes A LOT for me to give up on a book, but golly gee…Disappointed is an understatement.
Your lists kill me. The milkshake gluttony, for one, made me snort out loud in my little office surround by three other people, because I can imagine my husband doing the same thing.
When I say “imagine,” I mean “remember,” because he’s done it too.
I just started reading that book! I really want it to be good! Now I’m torn after reading these comments.
Speaking of BRGR, have you tried Burgatory (http://www.burgatorybar.com/heavenly-shakes/)? It’s amazing. There is one in Consol Energy and one in Waterworks Mall. SO GOOD. They have spiked shakes as well, but if you’re in the mood for non-alcoholic, I suggest the “CARAMEL PRETZEL $6
A great combination of sweet and salty. It’s impossible to take just one sip, so be careful if you decide to share.”
i absolutely adored One Day!! the book was so good although the ending made me cry a lot, so not sure if that is the sort of thing that does it for you. I also had a soft spot for it because parts of it take place in Edinburgh where i live and i love reading books that take place where i live.
The movie was ok, not as good as the book though, but of course i watched it because of the whole Edinburgh thing again.
until last month, i had never quit a book. then i started “the lovely bones”. what a mistake…
I so badly wanted to stop reading One Day, too!! I loved to hate that book, for real. But I finished it, and it still makes me angry/sad that I ever picked it up in the first place.
