Tuesday Things.
1. GUYS. I’m freaking. This morning I woke up to a virtual baby shower planned by two of my closest friends, Bev and Ashley. I’m a little all over the place today and will be sharing everyone’s recipes later this week, but in the meantime you must click on those links and see the food. It’s a TRASHED UP BABY SHOWER. Dead. I’ll be in my puddle of tears if you need me.
2. Am I the only one who gets crazy excited for election day? It makes me feel like an adult. I mean, I realize I should feel like an adult since I’m like moments away from birthing a child but still… voting makes me feel like a legit adult.
3. When daylight savings time ends: otherwise known as a food blogger’s worst nightmare. Now it’s a scramble to photography everything before 4 or 5PM, but I will say that I love how light it is in the mornings. I think I’d like to live in Alaska.
4. Eddie hates coffee. Like HATES it. Like I can’t even make it in the house because he flips out and opens windows and stuff. What do you think the over under is on him eventually drinking coffee with a baby? Remember when I hated coffee too? Then I found out that CAFFEINE is life? Yeah.
5. You know how the last two weeks I’m been whining about a bee in my car then a bee in the house? Umm… we have like an infestation of wasps. As in multiples… everywhere. It is pretty much my worst nightmare since I am scared sh!tless of them. Someone take me in.
6. It’s that time of year agaaaaaain… Jimmy Kimmel has parents tell kids that they ate all of their Halloween candy. I find these hilarious. I know some of you get very upset over them. Either way, nothing compares to the first year he did this. Hilarity ensues.
7. Something HAS to finally happen on SOA tonight, right? Like something other than people losing body parts? Things have to start getting resolved, but now it’s like… is there any way that Jax can escape the season without dying? WAH. I really dislike when the Walking Dead focuses entire episodes on one character/group, but I’m glad we know where that person is. I feel like Homeland may actually be getting kind of good now? I wasn’t totally surprised with the turn of the events but it works. I wrote my thoughts on The Affair in my favorites yesterday. It has unexpectedly hooked me.
8. I miiiiiight just be a little too excited for the CMA’s tomorrow night. Like, too excited as in I’ve been waiting for it for like four weeks.
9. Laughing hysterically over Ina being the one true queen. I saw the Halloween meme a few weeks ago and have been crying with giggles ever since. Gosh I love her.

omg INA, THE QUEEN!!! love her so much.
Omg, I know what you mean about coffee being life and I’m so sorry about the bees. I have the worst luck with them! I’m always getting stung. So much yes about all of this.
Oh my gosh, I haven’t seen the Ina thing before. Thank you for sharing this gem! And the virtual baby shower has basically been the best thing that has happened on the interwebs in a while. SO MUCH GOOD FOOD. I’m blown away by all the trashed up recipes!
My favorite moment every morning is my cappuccino time!

Glad you were surprised today! I wish I could have seen the look on your face when you discovered what was going on :) xoxo
Just wait until you go through your first Daylight Savings Time with a baby. NIGHT. MARE. My usually great-sleeping 8.5 month old has decided that 3am is a great time to wake up for the day. FML. Whoever invented this clearly didn’t have a baby at home! /rant
Love love LOVE Jimmy Kimmel’s annual Halloween candy prank. Too cute for words!

So funny!
This is one of my favorite days ever. <3 Also, I totallyyyyy was stung by a YELLOWJACKET over the weekend while raking leaves. I crouched down and it was literally in between the back of my knee and stung me when I crouched. OMG. OW. Immediate ice + then baking soda/water paste helped right away….just in case you need to use that tip. ;)
I have loved seeing all of the recipes for your virtual shower today! A trashed up shower was the best idea.
I thought my coffee-hating husband would start drinking it when he began his surgical residency. No such luck :( He still sticks to Diet Coke all day, every day.
Um DYING for Jax to find out what Gemma did already. I literally hold my breath every episode waiting for someone to find out. And CMAs OMG – cannot wait. Although most of the night I’m just marveling at Carrie Underwood’s legs and whining about the fact that I’ll likely never obtain them. Ahhhhh life isn’t fair!
the baby shower recipes are amazing!! happy happy baby!!
Hahahaha INA. I am rolling right now. That is so great.
Happy Baby Shower day!! It’s been so fun to see how loved you are in the foodie community :)
Happy baby shower!! Soooo exciting and fun! I can’t wait to drool on Instagram. We are behind on Walking Dead and I’m dying to know what happens! My bro and his wife hate coffee and I just don’t get it! It isn’t something I can even conceptualize! Lol! Coffee runs through my veins! :)
HAPPY BABY SHOWER! We love ya.
i love the Jimmy Kimmel candy videos! I feel so cruel laughing at the kids but its so funny! :D
That Ina Garten article is hilarious hahahha. Real convo with my cousin, “I can’t trust Giada. But Ina, now that’s a woman who eats her own food!”
All the baby shower posts almost had me in happy tears for you! That Jimmy Kimmel video is absolutely hilarious.. promise you’ll record yourself telling your little one you used up all the sprinkles in a few years?!
First of all, I’m dying over all the Ina stuff. It’s SO true. And I don’t hate her one bit. I worship her (because I’m a little scared of her).
Ok, WASPS. We got this. Go to the hardware store and ask for a wasp killer that has a RESIDUAL affect. It should kill the ones instantly in your house, but if you spray it on all the vents and places where they’re getting in, if their feet touch it, they’ll die. That’s the residual part. I had 2 wasps upstairs in my photo studio last week and I almost peed my pants!
Even though he is the worst child actor ever (sorry), I think annoying Abel is obv going to spill the beans and will play a vital role in the end of the show. Just my thoughts! And can we talk about how Jax completely ignores his kids besides the two second pat on the head he gives if he happens to be in the same room as them? I haven’t watched this week’s episode yet, but I hope beyond hope there is more to the plot than killing and shopping off body parts. And when is Jax actually going to mourn Tara instead of killing everyone that pi**es him off?
You have some amazing internet friends!! Loved seeing all the shower recipes they came up with, and in honor of your ‘virtual shower’ I made your BBQ chicken salad for dinner…my fave!!
Also, I am afraid of spiders like you are of wasps…and I saw two HUGE ones in my basement yesterday. Ended up spraying about half a bottle of bleach cleaner on one to kill it. Total worst nightmare, so I get where you’re coming from…
Such a sweet tribute yesterday, you must have been melting! I so enjoyed looking through all of the trashed up recipes. And may I just say (again) Chicken Fried Bacon?!?! ;)
Watching that video of all of the kids thinking their candy was gone – whoa – emotional roller coaster.
Congrats on your coming bundle of <3 + being super awesome apparently. I'm happy to have found you.
I promise you Alaska isn’t all its cracked up to be in daylight savings time. I’m working in Anchorage right now and its 7:41am here and IT STILL ISNT LIGHT YET. I work from 7:30 to 5:00 and guess when the sun rises and sets – like 8:30 and 4:30. My life is darkness except for the hour lunch in betweennnn GET ME OUT!
I live in Alaska and I love it! Yes, this time of year the sun rises around 8am and sets around 5-5:30 in the evening, but it’s no big deal. We’ve managaed just fine and there’s still plenty to do outside. And right now is an awesome time for picture-taking! Especially of the mountains.
My husband and I both dispose coffee. However, we love the smell of it! It just doesn’t taste the way it smells. While he won’t drink anything hot, I’m a tea drinker.
As for the expecting bundle-of-joy….I was always asked, “Are you scared/nervous for labor and delivery?” And I always answered the same way, “Right now? No. Ask me again when I finally go into labor!”
Jess-
I have been seeing all these other bloggers I follow participate in your virtual “trashed up” baby shower, so cool!! :)
I have been thinking about you and hope you continue to feel great, I am definitely jealous that you are not tired much, I am having a hard time daily dealing with exhaustion and basically running out of room…I am reminding myself to slow down at times, can’t just rush up the steps to the train anymore or bend down and forget that there is a big belly in the way!! :)
It’s an exciting time, enjoy and looking forward to hearing your thoughts on motherhood while I experience the journey for the first time as well!! :)
Those Jimmy videos are so hysterical!
Jess, I think you NEED this. I don’t know if Eddie will like it but it is totally YOU.

EEG just the mention of wasps and I get chills all over and curl up into the fetal position. I had an infestation several years ago and still have PTSD about it. So terrible. I feel your pain! Get the bug man out ASAP and have him take absolutely everything wasp related away. The Halloween candy videos make me so sad for the little kids! :,( I am such a softy. Happy baby shower and congrats on your soon-to-be bundle of bebe joy!
I’m a bit new to the blogging thing, and yours is one of the sites I’ve started to keep an eye on! The virtual baby shower was awesome, and a great way to be introduced to some other fantastic blogs; I’m still working my way through the “trashed up” list :-)
Btw, Congratulations on the new baby!
omg i love the ina and the jimmy k video ! needed to laugh thanks.
Your virtual shower and its theme was so ridiculously adorable and perfect! I heart Ina!!!!
