Tuesday Things.
1. How does this first grade lunch box cake even exist?! What? How? When? I need.
2. Remember how last week I talked about how terrifying The Visit previews were?! Um, now there are ads on instagram for the movie so I can’t escape it. It forced me to go online and read the entire plot so I feel slightly better now. See also: I ruin the endings of all the things.
3. Please tell me you saw this history of rap.
4. How do you feel about sky diving? Is it that one thing you NEED to do? I have absolutely no desire to ever do it. Does this make me unadventurous? Boring? AÂ mom? Ha.
5. If you follow me on snapchat, you know that I finally found the cotton candy grapes that everyone raves about they seriously taste like… cotton candy. So freaking weird!
6. 19 things that smell like childhood. Hated the sound of this post but then I read it and was like… um, I smell all those things. For real.
7. I totally loved Masters of Sex this week and I think we are on the verge of one of the big life events happening?? I hope it doesn’t affect the show in a weird way. Also, have you seen the previews for the Affair? OMG. It looks SO good this season. Fear the Walking Dead thoughts? Eddie is still loving it, I’m still on the fence. It somehow feels fake to me when The Walking Dead feels real. Makes no sense, I know.
8. I really want one of these adult coloring books. I don’t know when I’d color, but have you tried one?
9. Seriously, we don’t go one day in this house without belting out “I can’t feel my face…” and I’m totally ready for a new brain song.

You have to get one of those coloring books! I have one of the mandalas books and colored pencils and I color when I’m watching TV before bed – it’s so relaxing! But the repetitive patterns annoy me sometimes (the exact opposite of the intended effect), so I might just get a regular coloring book.
And Fear the Walking Dead – I am in love. I’m finding it scarier than The Walking Dead, I think because we are seeing it from the very beginning (aka, what it would look like if it actually happened), and with The Walking Dead we were just thrown into it so it felt less real to me.
I have multiple coloring books and love them all. However, I found an app called Colorfy and I use that so much more than I do the actual books. (Millenial problem, I guess.)
You should absolutely sky dive! I am not adventurous at all and got talked into doing it by a friend. I was a nervous wreck, but afterwards I was so glad I did it.
I have 2 adult coloring books (which is hilarious to use that terminology when telling people about them – you should see the reactions!) Anyway i have a mandala one from Michael’s and I ordered Tangled Treasures from Target.com. My mom and I both love it! I dont find A LOT of time for it but it’s nice to grab when i need something to do and dont want to sit on my phone. it’s engaging but relaxing. idk, im into it!
i was yelling at the tv last night during fear the walking dead. maybe because i’m so used to rick and the gang knowing how to handle them? ugh. it stresses me out. i think i’m hooked, though.
I feel the same way! It’s seriously irritating. It’s almost like watching a movie like “Scream” where all the characters are being complete idiots and running the wrong way/doing the wrong thing.
I recommend “Marvin Gaye” by Charlie Puth and Meagan Trainor – it’s been in my head for weeks. So stinkin’ catchy. Also, been dying for an adult coloring book too! My friend actually just printed out pages from the internets to color – it was (obviously) cheaper…. I might do the same thing. Soon.
i have to ruin the ending of all things too! If I’m watching a scary or sad film I always Google the plot so I know what’s coming… Definitely ruin it for myself!

Ahaha I’m glad my husband and I aren’t the only ones who can’t stop listening to I Can’t Feel My Face. So bad/so good.
That cake looks AMAZING!
I also want to get an adult coloring book, even though I hate saying/typing those three words together, ha ha.
I totally bought a few coloring books in the B&N bargin bin and I’m fully obsessed. Do it. You will not be disappointed. Stress melts away.
Great post!

I am over Fear the Walking Dead. These characters annoy me. I yelled at the TV all the way through the most recent episode. How are they not freaking out?! How can they play Monopoly at a time like this?! Travis is dumb.
Grown up coloring books are magical. Take the plunge.
for some reason this made me laugh so hard. YES.
I literally JUST snapped the coloring book I ordered. I forgot to also order colored pencils, ha! I am beyond excited about it. I predict I’ll have the whole series of the one I ordered because there are like food/pantry pages in all of them and fashion!!
omg!! i am looking at your snap right this second.
I can still smell all those smells so vividly! I have a couple of the adult coloring books, both from Creative Haven. I brought them along on a family vacation last month. You have to use either colored pencils or fine-tipped markers because there are so many tiny spaces. Let me tell you, these things take hours and your hand will hurt if you don’t take a break. It was good for a rainy day. We all got very quiet and in the zone while we colored. Another tip- we made copies of some of the pages for the kids.
great tip!! thanks!
I can’t decide if I ever want to skydive. The thought of it both excites and terrifies me. I tore my ACL last year just jumping on a trampoline, though, so I probably shouldn’t attempt something like skydiving.
A million thank yous as usual, Jessica!!!! It only exists because I’m a sick, sick sugar freak. :)
I haven’t started Fear the Walking Dead yet but I’m having normal Walking Dead withdrawals so I may just have to dig it up on Amazon tonight! (no-cable probz) XO!
I READ THE PLOT OF THE VISIT TOO!!!! I had to! I just freaking had to. Who needs that hanging over their head? Nobody that’s who.
right? i knew we were soul sisters!
Yes. You NEED adult coloring books! I took the plunge recently and do not regret it at all. Make sure you buy good quality colored pencils though, learned that the hard way. My favorite books are the ones from Johanna Basford (Secret Garden and Enchanted Forest), but it seems like now there are a million different books popping up everywhere. DO IT.
Girl! When I saw your snap about the grapes I tried to DM you, no luck! I’m in Pittsburgh too…where the heck did you find cotton candy grapes? I found them two or three summers ago in Baltimore and I haven’t been able to find them since! ??
i’m sorry! i have my return snaps turned off because i find it so overwhelming, but maybe i should just suck it up and turn it on??
i found them at sam’s club of all places!! i have looked for years and couldn’t believe it! a HUGE tub.
I see them very occasionally at Whole Foods on Centre Ave. Be on the lookout next time you’re there!
I found some at whole foods in Wexford :)
Oh the smell-o-vision! The pink stuff? Ugh… bad times, bad times. But seriously felt like I could smell all the smells. And The Visit? Can’t even watch the commercials, but my teenage son saw it twice this past weekend. I have lost any ounce of cool momness now, officially. Really, it prob happened a long time ago, but denial is fun.
Hahahaha I’m not joking – all evening long I was singing “I can’t feel my face…” to my dog! Stupid song stuck in my head. If only my husband knew how strange I was when he isn’t home…..
I love the Enchanted Forest coloring book! Get the largest set of good colored pencils you can find. I have 120 Prismacolor and love it!
I went skydiving for the first time in August. The day after my birthday. It was a gift from my husband. My two daughters, my sons-in-law, my granddaughter and grandson were there to cheer me on. I was 55 on my birthday! It’s been one of the most liberating things I’ve ever done. I’d do it again in a second!
Awesome list! The Jimmy Fallon vid was hilarious and the 19 things that smell like childhood is so spot on.
Grownup coloring books are good for your brain! This anxious lady highly recommends them! They’re good for those moments when you just can’t even.
I have an adult connect the dots book and it’s great! it’s called Dot to Dot Cities and they have 1000 dots each. NYC skyline, Golden Gate Bridge, Sphinx, Taj Mahal, etc… each one takes about an hour to an hour and a half to do. Perfect for when I have some time to kill and want to give myself a break from the TV.
What!?! This sounds brilliant, I can’t wait to check it out. I absolutely loved connect the dots books as a kid.
Thanks for the tip! I just went to Amazon and bought the Greatest Dot-to-Dot Book in the World. Volume 4 looked liked the best. Can’t wait to get it.
I have had 2 adult coloring books in my online shopping cart for weeks now! I had been coloring in one at this art place I take the kids I nanny to play…I love it! I’m getting “Enchanted Forest” and “Stress Relieving Animal Designs”
ok – let’s all just say no to skydiving. I do love adventure, ok, controlled adventure like climbing mountains not plunging to your potential death. I’ll wait for bacon grease to clog my arteries and kill me, thankyouverymuch!
this history of rap was one of my all time favourites! remix to ignition? and nelly? um yes!
can’t wait for The Affair………..and of course I just moved to the country, we don’t have HBO and the internet is so spotty I’ve taken to going to the library “to work” (aka: watch tv online).
YES to the skydiving – I’m dying to go. And YES to all those smells!! I could totally smell them in my head as soon as I saw the pics. Holy nostalgia. I’m liking Fear TWD, but I sort of agree with you that it doesn’t feel real. Still giving me very real anxiety attacks, though.
I love the super detailed “adult” coloring books… they’re very relaxing right up until your hand cramps.
You should go skydiving. My husband and I talked about it when we were getting to know each other and we made it a date to go sky diving. BEST thing EVER!! We had so much fun and it’s so quick, it goes by in the blink of an eye and is now an amazing memory. Those cotton candy grapes are so delicious, I couldn’t believe it that they tasted just like cotton candy! I find them at Whole Foods.
I just got the cotton candy grapes last week at Sams. I passed up buying them at the Wegman’s in Erie because they didn’t look the best. What a good deal at Sams & they are tasty. Eatting them as we speak:)
My mom & I just bought our first adult coloring books at Pat Catans over the weekend with colored pencils. We each got a Mandala one- I got birds & I think she got flowers, Plus I got a couple of cheaper ones too that had nice pics in them. Although for the cheapy books they print on both sides, FYI.
I bought an adult coloring book, called Stress Teducing Animal Designs or something. Uhh… Not stress reducing at all! The designs are so tiny and intricacy it stresses me out! I used to color in children’s coloring books at bars and stuff just to keep my hands busy but this coloring book takes concentration. The designs are really pretty though.
Yes to coloring. It’s a great stress reducer. Since you and I would be friends IRL, I will share the coloring book I purchased:

We have a Coloring Book and I would love to send you one!
Absolutely love that cake…every childs dream!
The smells of the 90’s…ha!!! That song is always playing in my head. To think I did not like it at first. It was forced upon me by the masses!
