Currently Crushing On.

The first crushing on of 2016! I promise not to fill it with kale. I think.
And the first full week is O.VER. Thank goodness. It was a long one, no? How is your life and emotional headspace and everything in between?
What will your weekend be like? I’m filling mine with blood oranges, blood orange syrup and everything that comes along with that like margaritas. And some meal prep on sunday! Just an hour. No more than an hour. It’s a miserable time suck any other way. And then the Golden Globes! I’m so super excited. Make some champagne caramels, trust me.
Let’s talk about how much I am LOVING this post from designlovefest on blogging like it’s 2009. Nearly everything she says in that post I agree with and is why I wrote my resolutions out last week – wanting to get more personal and back to the reason I started doing this thang. You know? Yeah.
Also, tell me if you’ve watched Making a Murderer and if you are still reeling, because I still am.
and then more goods:
the best huevos rancheros i ever did see.
seven books that will change your life. i’ve read some, but adding the rest to my list!
my resolution: make these nutella stuffed brown butter blondies.
my second resolution: make these resolution cookies. they have EVERYTHING.
on wednesday night i made a version of this slow cooker pork and gnocchi and it was SO fab.
holy cow. white russian ice cream what what.
this matcha smoothie is what my dreams are made of. that green!
reallllly trying to do this imperfect 365 (err, 366) project. so far, so good.
almost raw crunchy caramel slice? i’ll do it.
pretty sure i just said this week i was over cookies but here’s a third: salted tahini cookies. i can’t.

Thanks so much for including the burgers on your list! They are ridiculous (in a good way). This is a great round up…the pork and gnocchi sounds fab! And I’m still reeling from watching Making a Murderer too. OMG.
LOVE the Miracle Morning. I read it and now I consciously think about starting my day off in a way that is going to set me up for success! You will enjoy it too if you haven’t read it yet- but with a little one, he is the guy to determine your schedule most of the time! Lots of good habits to start developing though.
If you are inot Blood Orange everything you might want to check out the Broma Bakery blog…the post today is for Blodd Orange marshmallows. I wonder the combination of a hot white chocolate drink with blood orange marshmallow would be like. It is interesting in theory…kind of!
The books. I’ve also read a few of those, but need to round out the rest. I’m most intrigued by “Big Magic” of the ones I haven’t read. Have you read it??
Hi, I had plans to make the slow cooker pork and gnocchi a couple days ago but my plans were put on hold because the people I planned to share it with came down with a stomach bug!! So now we are getting a cold snap for a few days (doesn’t happen often in Texas), so I’m ready to make it now. Would love to know in just
a real quick word or two what you added/changed :) Â Also just wanted to tell you that I look forward to the “Crushing On”, all week long. I know you had ask about it a little while back and I didn’t comment then-but there you go there is my comment now.Â
What a great list — definitely adding some of those books to my list also. The Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up was truly life changing for me, so I’m excited to read some of the others!
Also, I’ve been meaning to comment and say how much I love your new site design! It looks awesome!!!
Resting is on the schedule for the weekend for me — so glad to finally be home after holiday travel!!
Have a great Saturday! :)Â
That DsignLoveFest post is so timely! I don’t think I’ll blog like I did in 2008 (it was terrible) but maybe I’ll shoot more for the middle? IDK, just be me (<<<<why is this so difficult?!)? I've been trying to let things go and just blog like I did before–there was a time when I talked about the food in a better way and I'm trying to get that back again.Â
Also, that White Russian ice cream! YES. I have ice cream plans this weekend even though it's only January.Â
Beautiful flowers, they look great.

Sounds good! Thanks for share the list!
Thanks for the link love! Also, seeing all the changes to your site are fantastic. :)
Regarding your links — Making a Murderer. I am so torn! Is he really innocent? SO CRAZY. Love the bullet journaling that Kristen has been doing. Hers is ridiculously good looking and mine looks like a teen journal still. Haha, anyway I’m so happy that you’ll be getting more personal on your site. :) looking forward to it! xo
Glad the week is over, indeed it was a long one. Also, doing some meal prep tomorrow. I also tell myself “stick to only one hour of prepping”, never happens and then Golden Globes. Starting Making a Murderer tonight, also want to watch The Revenant this weekend.
Cannot wait to try the blood orange syrup. I am obsessed with this one from Round Pond Estates https://shop.roundpond.com/store/index.cfm?fuseaction=view&category_id=84
Seriously their olive oil tasting is one of the best things I have ever done on vacation. Â I love their stuff so I think it will be fun to compare.Â
Thanks for sharing!!
I can not get enough of Molly Yeh’s cooking and those cookies look too tasty for words! I also love the imperfect 365 project. That goal is a little too lofty for me, but it would definitely make me a better photographer!
Yay – I’m glad your giving Imperfect 366 a try! That makes me really happy to read! :)
Hi Jessica! Â We just finished watching Making a Murderer yesterday…OMG! Â I think my husband & I will be talking about that for a looong time!
The photo of the roses is stunning…I’d frame that in a heartbeat! Â

I’m just LOVING your “Crushing On” series, Jessica! I’m a sucker for round-ups that point me to things I may not have discovered otherwise, and yours is just jam-packed!
Thanks so much for the shout-out :)
So honored to be featured in the first crushing on of 2016, Jessica! THANK YOU, THANK YOU and the Happiest of New Years, to you! (And OMGÂ potato chip salted champagne caramels! Like, WHAT?!)
I am little late looking at this list but…those tahini cookies are the bomb. You definitely need to make them. :)
