February Favorites: Beauty.
Hello favorites time!
I’m still using and loving EVERYTHING I mentioned last month. That freaking Burt’s Bees cream cleanser?! So good. The Tom Ford Noir Pour Femme? Love. Bite Beauty Pastille? Stunning and I have it on right now.
Currently trying out the Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water and I’m just not sure how I feel about it. I love my cleansing oils so much and using the cleansing water takes FOREVER because I need about 54 cotton pads to remove my mascara and can’t just massage it into my skin and wash off like I can with the cleanser.
I did try a few things this month that I just don’t love. I got suckered in by packaging and bought the YSL neutralizer in violet (isn’t it gorgeous?!) mainly because the Touche Eclat was a huge beauty staple of mine for years. I like the formula but that shade just did nothing for me. It didn’t brighten. It almost WHITENED! my skin and I’m already so pale. Also, I just don’t understand why all of these companies are coming out again with nuetralizing shades of green and yellow and coral and stuff – for me, personally, the more I put on my skin, the cakier it looks. I can’t even put on a coral corrector shade and THEN use a concealer. It just looks like I have on pounds of makeup! Maybe it translates well on screen, but def not in real life.
I also tried this Herbivore Coconut Rose lip balm and I seriously could put coconut oil in a jar with some rose oil and make it myself. It was so underwhelming. Whomp whomp.
But anyhoo. Here are some things that I’m nutso over right now.
Caudalie Moisturizing Toner. Favorite forever. Best toner and removes every last bit of dirt from my face. Love to use with exfoliating cotton pads!
Formula X Erase Cuticle Cream. I’ve talked about this stuff a bunch of times before (totally thought it was being discontnued and bought like four tubes, but it’s not) and LOVE it. I have never tried a cuticle cream like this – it works almost instantly. Consistent use cures your cuticles of any dryness. I use Solar Oil during the day multiple times and then use this once or twice a day. Always at night!
Pinrose Petal Packs. I’ve wanted to talk about these FOREVER!! And I kept forgetting. I mentioned them in my gift guides last December, but not in my favorites. I bought a petal pack when I was Christmas shopping back in the winter. You know my severe obsession with rollerballs and trying new perfume constantly? Well half of that is that I really love having something in my purse to put on, because I end up leaving the house without perfume often so it doesn’t irritate Max. These are like little perfume “wipes” – and a variety pack! I chose the Charmer pack because I’m such an amber/musk/vanilla scent person. I don’t like florals. I found mine at Nordstrom but it looks like you can buy online too. These are my favorite things for gifts. Plus… they are adorable.
Charlotte Tilbury Magic Cream. I have held back from buying anything from Charlotte Tilbury because nothing seemed to appeal to me. Last fall my friend Natalie bought a few things and RAVED about them, but I still didn’t bite the bullet. Then on New Year’s Day, she came over and immediately my mom and I both were like WHAT IS ON YOUR FACE?! She looked so glowy and dewy and gorgeous. Everything she was wearing was by Charlotte T and she couldn’t say enough about the magic cream. I place it in my Nordstrom online cart for a few weeks then used a gift card. I was afraid it would smell too rose-like for me (it doesn’t) and that it wouldn’t be moisturizing enough. I have been using it every morning before makeup and am obsessed. It makes any sort of makeup completely glide on to my skin. It’s probably not enough moisture on it’s own (for me), but I do a big time moisture routine at night and just use the toner above in the mornings, so my skin is pretty good. I’ve read reviews both ways on this, but so far absolutely love it. Downside is the price and that there is no SPF – but the tinted moisturizer I use has SPF.
Farmacy Deep Moisture Coconut Gel Masks. This is by far the best sheet mask I have used, ever. The sheet fit my face just right, it actually stayed on my face and didn’t slide off, serum didn’t run down my neck and the serum sank into my skin so nicely. These come in a three pack and I got the moisturizing one. The thing with sheet masks is that I often want to be able to DO things while using them. I don’t have time to just lie around and let it sit on my face. (I mean, I guess I do, but I choose to spend my time otherwise.) I also thought the price point on these was nice and not completely horrific, like some of the $65 one time use masks at sephora. I found this in the aisle of doom while waiting to check out.
Urban Decay Gwen Stefani Phone Call. Still been wearing it a TON. Love love love. Super moisturizing and the prettiest color. Should I get Firebird?? I’m debating.
Urban Decay Naked Skin Concealer. This is huge because I have been a slave to MAC prolongwear concealer and Maybelline instant age rewind for years – like almost since I’ve started my blog. I’ve never been tempted by these concealers but then my friend Kristen told me how great they were. I bought the second to lightest shade and it was just a bit too dark. So I bought the lightest and it was barrrrely, maybe too light? I’ve been mixing them and they are perfect. I can’t get over how much I love these. They are pretty much what I have wished the MAC concealer was because they are no where near as dry as prolongwear. And they cover great. (And yes, I have tried Nars Creamy Concealer and found it to be… meh.)
Tartiest Lip Paint in So Fetch. So! Remember how I was talking about my favorite Maybelline lipstick in Shocking Coral?! Um, this is like the exact same shade in liquid lipstick. I LOVE IT. I really like this formula and don’t find it as drying as some liquid lipsticks. But the color is also perfect. And it lasts forever. Last weekend my mom could not believe how long this was lasting. She was running around Nordstrom asking everyone at the makeup counters how she could find something that lasted so long. Ha.
Tartiest Lip Crayon in Amaze. The perfect coral liner. Seriously, the best I’ve found in a long time. Feels really good on.
So tell me! What are you loving this month? What Spring things can you not WAIT to get your hands on?
{as usual, none of this is sponsored and all of these products were purchased by me. i am not affiliated with any of the companies above, nor do i accept free products. just love to talk about what i like, makeup junkie to makeup junkie. there are a few amazon affiliate links above. thank you for being here!}

I had the same experience with the Herbivore Coconut Rose stuff, but I got the body scrub. I had it on my wish list & even signed up to be alerted when it was back in stock and my mom ended up buying it for me for Christmas. I used it once or twice & was so underwhelmed, plus it dried out really fast. This is a good reminder that I should take it back for some store credit…
The only make up I’m using lately is the Maybelline Age Rewind concealer, mascara, & the Best Damn Beauty lip mask that I found via YouTube (LOVE). I’m just so disinterested in scrubbing makeup off my face at night that I’ve just given up on it in general.
omg! i’m so glad you said that. i’ve also been signed up for the alert when it comes back in stock and wanted to buy it. definitely won’t now. i’ve also wanted to try the lip mask!!Â
I bought the Burt’s Bees cream cleanser and am in love – thank you for posting about it!Â
I am in a blah moment right now. I need some thing or things new to live it up a bit.Â
I FINALLY picked up the sugar tinted lip stuff you raved about for so long and I love it. I totally should have gotten it sooner. I rarely wear anything on my lips, and the nude shade is perfect. I’ve also been using the pixi brow duo from target for the last several months. Great for a soft look, but helps fill in sparse brows.
p.s. You’re so lucky Max is content in the stroller while you shop! I was in Sephora with my 2 y/o and he just had to touch everything!
i know that it probably won’t last much longer!! he will be escaping the stroller before i know it! we had to buy a shaker thing of mints at the grocery store the other day because he REFUSED to put them down. ha.Â
I have the same issue with correctors! So cakey and frustrating. I’ve had a few misses. I tried the IT cosmetics cc cream and it doesn’t work for me, it’s super thick and it smells awful. I also tried the Becca undereye brightener and it’s so tacky. I keep wanting to try the UD naked concealer but they never have my color in stock. I’ve been using Maybeline FitMe and it’s actually pretty great. I really want to try that Charlotte Tillury cream but im afraid I’ll get hooked. I tried Some
Kari Gran lip whip (grabbed it in the aisle of doom) and LOVE it, I keep it by my bed. Sean even uses it at night. I feel like I may have mentioned it before, but I really love it, ha!
Anyway, this is so timely bc I am going to visit my bestie for her bday and her husband is taking a half day to watch the kids so we can go to Sephora (and other shopping) alone!
i’ve heard the fit me is great! been meaning to try it out. and i remember you snapping about the kari gran lip and i’ve wanted it ever since!
I love the UD concealer. I just picked it up this past weekend. I love the coverage. I’ll have to check out the Burt’s Bee cleanser.
Those Coconut Gel Masks from Farmacy are going in my online Sephora order ASAP! Thanks for sharing babe!

ooohh what’s your intense nighttime moisture routine? I have super dry skin (also oily around my nose! fun!) and still don’t have a routine/arsenal of products I love.
here’s what i currently do: remove makeup with cleansing oil, then wash with the burt’s bees deep hydration cleanser. use trish mcevoy beauty booster – i’ve used this for years, but in recent years have really only used it in the winter when i need more hydration. it’s hyaluronic acid and i can tell a HUGE different when i put it on before moisturizer. then i do a facial oil (sunday riley luna oil or tarte maracuja), let it sink in for 5-10mins and then super heavy night cream (first aid beauty intense repair).Â
in the morning, i just go over my face with a cotton pad and the moisturizing toner, then do the CT magic cream and move to makeup! (if i’m wearing it that day.)Â
Do you use the Beauty Booster Serum or Cream? I have been wanting to try them, but not sure which one…Thanks–LOVE your beauty favorites!!!
I want to try CT magic cream but am holding off til I can get my hands on the real deal. the stuff sold in the USA is NOT what they sell in the UK (look up the ingredients–they are different). Due to FDA regulations, the formula had to be changed. I heard the real deal (UK version) is amazing but so many people I know have been underwhelmed with it. Â I need a friend in England.Â
omg whaaaaaat are you serious. that sucks!
Back when I was getting a full pay check, I LOVEDDDDD these posts. But now that I’m (still) on maternity leave – woohoo for 12 months in Canada!- these posts kill me with envy!! I want to try so many of these!! A girl can dream :)
I love these posts of yours :) I use shiseido cotton pads which are so awesome and soft that I don’t know how I ever used a basic cotton pad before these. What I also like about them is that they are so thick you can use half and make the package last even longer. Also, going to recommend dior lip and cheek stain. I am on my third bottle! You dab on your cheeks and blend it in – gives everyone a natural pop of color. same for lips. love it, brightens the whole face
I have been using rose hip oil, in place of any creams on my face. Have to say I really like it. I have notice dark circles have cleared up some. My foundation has SPF so I am still putting some on my face everyday.Â
hey girl love your list!
I love your beauty favorites lists!
I read quite a few beauty blogs and they have some good tips, but they also have many sponsored posts and free stuff they get, so I am always a little doubtful about the recommendations.
But your lists are just great, and a great source for me (I also have dry and paler skin)Â I have already discovered a few awesome products that were recommended in your favorites lists ( I am obsessed with UD Sin and Benefit Gimme Brow!) , so thank you :)
They currently have 25% off in my Sephora so i just got a lipstick from Gwen’s collection and the Complexion Rescue, really excited to try them!
Virtual hugs from Europe :)
Love reading your beauty posts! I didn’t see any new eye shadow faves in here this time so if your on the hunt for a new one Laura Mercier Artists eye palette is INSANE.
Beautiful colors, blends really well and it’s super pigmented. I had my eye on it for a while and finally bought it and have been wearing it everyday!
I love to read your round up then go on a virtual shopping spree at Sephora, but that Gwen Stefani lipstick might have to be an IRL purchase. Â That color!! Â I bought the Sephora brand micellar water and I was pleased that it seemed to remove mascara really efficiently, but I do have to use it carefully, or it really stings my eyes, so I think I need to shop around some more. Â I’m just SO LAZY at bedtime, I rarely follow through on a whole face washing ritual.
I love love love these posts! Coconut Oil is what i have been loving… nothing new about it and still probably ‘trendy’ but it takes my eye makeup off like nothing else. No longer do I have to scrub and rewash multiple times a night – just massage it over my eyes and eye lashes and wipe it clean with a Kleenex and then wash the rest of my face and done! I know it’s not new but I had the jar sitting around and thrilled that I can now use it for multiple things (face moisturizer, eye makeup remover) and that it’s not greasy and does not add to my oily face.Â
Still loving the Maybelline Age Rewinder concealer and Oribe hair products – they smell delish!Â
I’m surprisingly into the Makeup Forever HD stick foundation. My skin is on the dry side and it glides on well and never emphasizes dry spots. I’m also majorly into the Kat Von D Shade and Light eye palette right now. It’s like the warm shades are MADE for my face.
Have you tried any ColourPop products? I feel like some of the shimmery eye shades are right up your alley and I seriously love their lippie stix. They last forever (at least the matte ones do) and they’re so comfortable to wear.
i really want to try the makeup forever stick. and i haven’t tried colourpop! i’ve debated but never do it since it’s all online. i’m weird!
I’ve been using the CT magic cream for about six months. I really like it. Except, now I want the one from England.
RIGHT.
The Garnier micellar water (pink cap) burned my eyes, but Simple’s micellar water is the best! That, on a Shiseido cotton pad, removes e-ver-y-thing. I balked at the $10 cotton pads at first, but they’re worth every penny – they never leave cotton fibers on my face, and I only need one to get the job done because they’re super substantial! Â I stock up on ’em during Sephora sales.Â
omg so funny, i tried the simple and it burned my eyes so bad!! i did get the garnier with the blue cap, the sensitive. so i’m guessing that’s why it didn’t burn. and i just started using the shiseido cotton! obsessed.

I LOVE Farmacy! I bought their morning grains and their cleansing oil for night time and I am hooked. I’m waiting for a moisturizer from them… will definitely try the masks!

I’m conflicted on the Micellar water too! The first two weeks, using it at night, it completely caused my skin to glow and I had no breakouts. And I became a believer! Now, though, in week three, I’ve broken out in several spots and don’t have the same glow. Frustrating!
Yes, you NEED Firebird! I guess it’s probably dupable since there’s a lot of fuchsia lipsticks with a slight blue shift, but I still feel like Firebird is different! I’ve gotta try the UD concealer. I hear over and over that it’s the very best!
Have you tried any ColourPop products yet? I fought it for the longest time, feeling like it was probably all YT hype, but it is NOT! I haven’t been able to put down ColourPop eyeshadows since June. The colors are so beautiful, especially the pearl and metallics, and they stay put foreeever!
ive been loving byte lipstick in mulberry. Â a tiny bit drying over time but i love the color and it doesnt move if i use the ozone urban decay crayon underneath. Â i just got the age rewind brightener the other day and not sure…use it under concealer or over ? Â i feel like under ? Â i got my hair highlighted the other day and am loving that. Â i thought going a little darker blond w lowlights would be good for winter but all it did was make me feel blah and lifeless just like winter does so i nixed that. Â I’ve been doing naked2 pallette a lot on my eyes. Â just basic browns pretty much and no eye liner. Â
i am blah over caudlie cleansing oil. Â i wanted to love and it does work but caused breakouts. Â i used, broke out and stopped. Â then tried again once breakouts were gone and they came back so i’m pretty sure it was from the cleansing oil. Â oh well….im going to try boscia cool cleansing oil next. Â also blah over some mascaras i’ve tried lately. Â using a ysl one now that is in a gold tube and that is also a little blah. Â lucky for me i have a nice collection of mascaras to go through from birchbox, free gifts, etc so there is always the next one ! Â
So, I’m finally entering the world of grown-up skincare (I’m in my late twenties, whoops!) and I need HELP with some foundation recommendations…Any thoughts on your faves?Â
Ugh Jess were beauty soulmates. Haha I tried that herbivore stuff months ago and straight away knew it was totally crap. I think coconut oil in a jar would be better than that stuff. Seriously considering the CT magic cream because I could use some magic on my face…
As per usual love all your posts. Beauty and food and all. Sigh. Can we be best friends.
Ahhh, must resist the Charlotte Tilbury cream…MUST! Suddenly nothing I am using has SPF in it and  it’s annoying. I hope I can get the Dr. Jart+ sunscreen before the sale ends!!!!
