Tuesday Things.
1. Does anyone actually love cacao nibs? Seriously.
2. Whaaaaat. This soft meringue s’mores crumble. With blood orange. Cue brain explosion.
3. You know how I’m always talking about my mombrain? On Saturday night Eddie started freaking out while looking for his credit card, thinking he lost it. He was holding it in his hand. Boom.
4. Speaking of Eddie, I ordered him Tom’s Mom’s cookies for Valentine’s day! Of course, my computer was sitting open, with my email RIGHT THERE the week before and he said “hey why did you order tom’s mom’s cookies?!” Surprise fail.
5. Have you ever had a dream that is SO real, you wake up and think it has actually happened? That was me last night and I am still so mad at Eddie. For my dream. He definitely cheated on me with a super model who had a blogger’s name.
6. Gwen’s new song. I can’t stop.
7. Guys. I seriously don’t know if I can continue to watch The Walking Dead. Eye phobia, as mentioned below? Check. I’m so invested in the characters and we’re so far in that nothing good can come of this. Ugh. But it was possibly the best episode yet? And my boyfriend Daryl was awesome. Oh oh and Billions? Freaking loooove Damian Lewis. Maybe because he looks like Eddie sometimes. Gingers unite. The little twists and turns took me by surprise this week! I can’t stand Wags. I looooove Lara and Wendy (aka, Tara).
8. Creating a habit for almost anything in a year? Read right here.
9. Who has eyelash extensions? Tell me about them. Do they ruin your real eyelashes? I have an extreme phobia of things coming close to my eye (going to the eye doctor is super fun), so that would probably pose a problem. But I’m intrigued.

Yes, I do love cacao nibs! They take a little while to get used to, but I’ve been mixing them in with regular chocolate chips — in cookies ;)
I’ve looked for glasses that were on my face. I’ve looked for a cell phone I was ACTIVELY TALKING ON. I don’t have kids. I think it might just be #adultbrain if that makes you feel any better. :)
HA! That first question cracked me up. I like them in chocolate bars – and in minimal doses in other things. But I couldn’t just straight up eat cocoa nibs!
Definitely not just a mom/dad thing. The amount of time I’ve looked for the sunglasses that I am wearing is… quite embarrassing.
I really want eyelash extensions, but I wear glasses every day (seriously considering lasik for this reason…which I realize is a COMPLETELY insane reason, same feelings regarding false lashes).
I have not watched this weeks TWD and I’m scared! I always read spoilers or I just flip my shit and have an anxiety attack.
For the record, I feel 100% “meh” about cacao nibs. All the fun of chocolate, minus the fun.
All the fun of chocolate, minus the fun :D
I have eyelash extensions!!!!!!! I got the full set put on in Monroeville and I have been getting them filled every three weeks at a little place Eyebrowz in Westmoreland Mall and I love them!!!!!!!!!!!! I wear glasses for driving and they don’t touch lol!! I get soooooooo many compliments on them, almost daily!!!!!! AND everyone thinks they are real!! They don’t look like false eyelashes because they aren’t in a strip so people just think they are real. They attach one to each last but they seriously do not ruin your real lashes. I have a product to recommend if you do get them too!!
I want some so bad, is it really 100.00 every 3 weeks to fill them in?
I was paying $60 every three weeks but now where I go it’s only $40!! That’s only like $13 per week. Also, I am a runner/weightlifter and haven’t found that it reduces the length of their wear.
I got eyelash extensions for my wedding a few years ago. They were just beautiful. I thought about keeping them up but I run (and sweat) so that shortens their life. They didn’t do anything to my real lashes. I didn’t have any problems. BUT: if you don’t like people near your eyes this would be hell. I had to lie perfectly still for an hour with my eyes shut for her to put them in.
Eyelash extensions are THE BEST. They look real and you wake up every day with sparkly Kardashian-Bambi eyes.
BUT after a year plus of getting them done they did start damaging my real eyelashes :( This might be because I already have thick long-ish (but super straight) eyelashes so I always got the maximum thickness/length extension size (or else it wouldn’t match up) and they were too heavy and started making my real eyelashes fall out faster. So I don’t do them anymore unless I am going on vacation and don’t want to wear makeup / for weddings or something to that effect.
Ok so I got eyelash extensions before my wedding as sort of a spontaneous surprise from my mother-in-law, who encouraged them. I got up at 5am and had to lay still for 2 HOURS while they applied each individual eyelash. My eyes didn’t love the glue they used so they were pretty watery, and I worry that part would be unbearable for you, but it wasn’t actually painful. I could have fallen asleep if it hadn’t been for the watery eyes. I have to say, I was OBSESSED with the results. I didn’t wear mascara to my rehearsal dinner or wedding and in all the photos my eyes look huge, black, and fluffy. It was also perfect for my honeymoon. But then they start to grow/fall out 2-3 weeks later and you’re supposed to keep maintaining them which was too expensive. If I could afford it I would!
I LOVE that he was holding the credit card the whole time! It makes me feel better about when I do similar things…or the exact same thing ;)
omg. Last night I had a dream that Matthew cheated on me with some chick in the bathroom of bar. GAH! I woke up feeling extremely disturbed.
I used to have eyelash extensions!!! I LOVED THEM! If I could have afforded to keep refilling them, I would have in a heartbeat! The initial appointment to get them done took about 1.5 hours. You just lay on a bed with your eyes closed and the person applies them. (Note: They did “tape” down my lower eyelashes so they wouldn’t get stuck or they wouldn’t put an extension on them by mistake. It was by far the worst part, but took a whole 2 minutes to do). I got them done originally for my wedding and then kept getting them filled for over a year. I never had to wear mascara – it was glorious!
(I’ve never been to the eye doctor because I have a thing with getting stuff in my eyes or whatever it is they will make me do. But I had no problem with the extensions!).
I’ve had eyelash extensions! I used to work at a spa so I got them for free and they are FABULOUS. You don’t feel a thing when they put them on and they shouldn’t ruin your real lashes at all. They’re attached to the lash itself so they shed when you would normally shed your lashes. If they weren’t so pricey, I’d totally get them all the time.
I’ve never had *regular* cacao nibs, but the dark chocolate covered ones form Trader Joe’s are pretty great :)
On TWD, I actually said to my husband during Sunday’s episode “I can’t believe we watch this for fun. This is horrible” I totally agree, everything feels so hopeless and my stomach is in knots for large chunks of the show. But by the end, I too said it was my fave epi yet.
On eyelash extensions…DO IT! They aren’t cheap, but the time you save every day (even if it’s just a few minutes) is worth it. Your eyes are closed the whole time so it’s not like you’re looking at them while they’ll being applied.
As for TWD, people are all upset about this particular episode, but I will point out, as a comic reader, this is exactly what happens in the comic….. So it shouldn’t be a shock really. Except in the comic I think Sam is the one that won’t let go of Carl and someone different shoots him but…. Same thing
cacao nibs – love, but in the right context…not instead of a bar of dark chocolate
eyelashes – eep! i can’t take that kind of upkeep
dreams – totally. had an awful dream last week about 2 friends dying after watching the movie Everest.
Chris asked where his sunglasses were this weekend and they were definitely on the brim of his hat.
Billions! Yay! Wags…ugh
xo
I do love cacao nibs! … but don’t for a second think they are a true replacement for a chocolate chip ;)
Eyelash extensions are fan-freaking-tastic and here’s why:
Pro: You can get by with just the lash extensions and no other make-up during the daytime and people always stop and say how great you look.
Con: The upkeep…it is about an hour of time every 3 weeks
Pro: Wouldn’t worry about the eye phobia, you lay back and have your eyes closed the entire time. So while it’s an hour of your time; it’s a relaxing hour.
Con: Can get pricey as they are addicting, but I just included them in my beauty budget.
Pro: Look and feel amazing and they don’t harm your natural lashes as they grow out. DO IT!!!!!!!!
ruin. they are so cute while you have them but then when they start to fall off they fall off in pieces so then your eyelashes look REALLY strange. also they HURT if you have to peel them off. and the remover glue you use…stings sooo sooo much.
pain is beauty? no thanks…I’ll just layer on the mascara!!
I’m also really liking Gwen’s new stuff, I’m always amazed when artists stick around for the long haul
I once was so excited about a gift I told my husband about it without realizing I was spilling the beans about his gift.
You want eyelash extensions, trust me. You will wake up every day and just feel awesome and pretty beautiful, bed head and all. It’s pretty fun. :)
If we’re gonna treat we certainly not cheating with cacao nibs! Bring on the dark chocolate!
If you get eyelash extensions, please tell us! I’m thinking of getting them for my wedding and I’m kinda nervous. I’m such a mascara junkie that I just don’t know if it will do the same thing!
I loved my eyelash extensions. So pretty, made me feel pretty. No mascara. Really fun to wear… until my eyes started itching, turning red and puffy (both upper AND lower lid) and flaky. While my eyelashes looked beautiful my eye skin and eyes did not. It was really sad and my eyelash technician likely made it worse by not advising me to remove them and let my eyes rest for a bit. Instead she kept filling them as normal. I believe i had blepharitis and supposedly I’ll have it forever, now. It sucks because I did keep my eyelashes and eyeline clean. I used no more tears baby shampoo and q-tips and washed regularly. So just beware of that.
I should add that my eyes have fully recovered and my eyelashes, while looking short and sparse after all the extensions had shed, now look like they did pre-extensions. I will likely get it again. Different technician though.
Ooh, I’ve made 3-4 appointments for lash extensions and cancelled all of them for fear of ruining my lashes or fears that my swim training for my ironman races I do every year, will destroy them. I can’t wait to hear from people who have them! How bad is the upkeep, expense and time between fill Ina.
TWD, I was dying…so insane. I’m so afraid for Glen…he keeps getting so darn lucky! ughhh
I hear ya about the eye doctor, I’m the same way! Oh and we’re so hooked on Billions. Damian Lewis is brilliant. And Paul Gianatti is at his best! Love the whole cast.
LOVE lash extensions. I kept them in for about a year, and they were AMAZING during the two beach vacations I took – you really do wake up every day looking like a goddess. They somehow make you look as though you’re wearing eyeliner and mascara – I think because the glue is black. I would get out of the shower and be like, wow, I seriously don’t need any makeup! However, it did seem my own lashes were a bit sparse afterward. I think because, like someone else mentioned, I have dark, long lashes already and so I always asked for the biggest, longest, vampiest lash extensions. But after a few months, totally back to normal. My eyes also watered and burned like crazy during the first time, but so worth it lol.
If there was ever a testimony to the power of love, it’s Gwen Stefani’s “Make Me Like You” video. I can literally feel the butterflies in her stomach over Blake Shelton. They’re definitely not the couple one would expect. but I hope they have a happily ever after ending.
hey girl great post! Love ya!
i looooooved my extensions for the month and half i had them, but every time i showered, the glue residue or whatever would get into my eyes and i would legit feel like i was losing my sight every time. plus i kept getting yelled at for not getting all the eyeliner out of my lashes, but you’re not supposed to put a cleansing cloth/makeup remover near the glue.. sooooo how was i supposed to get it off?
You had a dream Eddie cheated on you with me? Weird! ;)
I used to have short stubby eyelashes that would break off randomly that I would call my molting period. So I looked up a natural way to get my eyelashes growing. I read that castor oil along the lash line would help so I use a q-tip each night and rub a little oil on them and you know what? It actually has helped. My eyelashes are long and healthy and haven’t fallen off in chunks like they normally would. Sounds weird but it has helped. :)
Hi. My name is Laura and I love cocoa nibs!! Because: crunch, texture and a deep hit of chocolate flavour wthout upsetting the sweetness balance of your baking. They add a je-ne-sais-quoi (hard to define) essence to muffins, cakes and cookies, playing up the other, different chocolate notes inside. Give them a whirl, girl!!
I had eyelash extensions for over a 1 year the intial cost could cost $250-$300 and the up keep varies for me I tried to go every three weeks but than it was too odd looking so I moved it up to every two weeks and the cost was about $75.00 for the refills. I can tell you how durable they are because I did several 5ks and a even a triathlon with them and no issues. I have since let them go because my priorities had changed. Remodeling my bathroom was more of priority than having beautiful eyelashes. My eyelashes were not damaged in anyway back to the same old way
Walking Dead was so the best episode yet….also so hard to watch!!!

I think you need this in your life: http://www.modcloth.com/shop/tabletop/mythical-trimmings-sprinkle-shaker
I had novalash extensions for over a year and loved it!! Everybody compliments you and you wake up and barely have to put makeup on making ur daily routine easier. However, i felt like i couldn’t throughly clean my eyelids and the extensions well and that made me paranoid of getting an eye infection. I wear contacts and have sensitive eyes and at times got some irritation, therefore stopped it. My eyelashes did get scarse and brittle after shedding of the extensions (they looked pretty sad) but went back to normal after a few weeks. Now i do it for special ocassions such as weddings, vacations, etc. If u try it, ur going to get addicted to them at least at the beginning.
YES to cacao nibs! I make a “breakfast” salad of diced apple, almond butter, toasted unsweetened coconut and cacao nibs that gets my day going on a regular basis. It’s always a bummer when I run out of the nibs. = )
I had eyelash extensions and I don’t think they are worth it! They look good BUT you can’t wear mascara with them so they don’t really give you the effect of false lashes (which benefit from both the fake lashes and mascara). They are definitely pretty and fluttery but you don’t get those, like, Bambi lashes. Also you have to wash your face kind of gently when you have them which made my eyes start to feel kind of gross; I didn’t realize just how good it feels to press your fingers over your lashes/lids when you wash your face. My advice is to do Latisse instead; it takes longer to reach the full effect (like three months) but it REALLY works and once you add mascara it’s even better.
On a related note I’m super into this mascara right now! http://www.amazon.com/Doucce-Punk-Volumizer-Mascara-Black/dp/B00B1PDVKE
The place were I was getting a mani-pedi the day before my wedding offered eyelash extensions and on a whim I thought they’d be a good idea. My cousin has recently had some put in as a trial before her wedding and they looked great. So I get them done on the morning of the wedding and I guess the lady didn’t explain the options to well and the length and fullness I got kind of made me look like a sex doll. But they did look amazing in pictures, and I didn’t have to wear mascara on my wedding, and I got married outside in Florida in August and my husband wrote his own vows, so that was great.
But the next day, actually even on my wedding night, they were so irratating, I could constantly feel them, they were kind of itchy and in my head it sounded like moths wings every time I blinked. Eww. Also, whilst they looked so good as a bride, they looked utterly ridiculous when I was dressed all casual and wearing no makeup. Like what is a sex doll doing in Seaworld? But I couldn’t get them off, tried all sorts including false eyelash remover. And being British I couldn’t go back to the place I got them done, because that would be rude and uncomfortable! I ended up kind of ripping them off one by one, and lost about half my eyelashes. So bad. They did eventually grow back. But it took until like Halloween.
So yeah, maybe research the place you get them done and what length you want!!
THAT ARTICLE ABOUT HABITS IS AWESOME. Thank you for posting it :) I’ve actually started adopting some of those basic principles this year in a bid to become a better house keeper. I’m doing really well so far with the habits that I’ve chosen to start with This will totally make my game stronger!
A late response in the support of eyelash extensions! I’ve only had them twice but loved the way they looked–I’ll definitely do it again for another special occasion or trip. I would wear them all the time but don’t want to deal with the ongoing maintenance or cost…plus my boyfriend thinks they are weird. They don’t cause any damage to your natural lashes. Also, I HATE having anything close to my eyes but I just had to mellow out & let it happen. Since my eyes were closed, it was okay. I wasn’t sure how it would be though so I bought a Groupon for my first try in case I pulled a Joey on Friends–remember when he got his eyebrows (ok, eyebrow) waxed? Try it–I think you’ll like it.
