October Favorites: Beauty. (Sephora VIB Sale Edition!)
Hiiiiii.
I decided that this year for my October favorites, I’d give you a full run down of some of my all-time faves since the Sephora VIB sale is rapidly approaching. Every year you guys ask me for a VIB sale list and it usually falls shortly after I share my October favorites. I’m going to tell you what my favorite things are at Sephora so you can shop the sale… and what’s in my online cart right now!
First up, the deal on the VIB sale. Every November, Sephora has their VIB sale and recently, it’s gone in phases. The first phase starts next friday, November 4th, for those who have VIB rouge status… otherwise known as those who spend an outrageous, obnoxious amount on beauty products. While the deets for the regular VIB sale haven’t been shared yet, it’s usually a few days after VIB rouge, so probably around November 10th? I stay up to date by bringing up Temptalia every single day. She’s my go-to beauty blog.
As a note, this isn’t a coupon code that can be shared. Sephora knows your status based on your account and VIB number, so if you are not a Sephora VIB and try to use the code, it still won’t work. Huge bummer I know.
NOW. On to what I think is best to get during the sale! Let me know what you want to get in the comments!
1. PERFUME!! Any and all perfumes, because it’s the only time I know of that perfume goes on sale. Also, since it’s a full 20% off I tend to go for high end perfumes, like Tom Ford. Last year during the sale I purchased the Tom Ford Pour Femme and absolutely LOVE it. I also love the Elizabeth and James Nirvana Black and their new Nirvana Bourbon. I’ve wanted to buy Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille for years, but cringe at the (literally insane) price. I think I’m going to get the all over body spray that’s a bit cheaper since I have so much freaking perfume.
2. Everything Sunday Riley. It’s not secret that I’m a huuuuge fangirl of Sunday Riley products. My favorite is Tidal, the moisturizer. The Luna Oil is incredible as is the Flora Oil. I also really love Good Genes. Any kind of gift set or combo set here is perfect.
3. Drunk Elephant Eye Serum. This is the best eye serum I’ve ever used. Drunk Elephant products are great and I’m eyeing a few others.
4. Caudalie Moisturizing Toner. I’ve used this toner for years and love that it has a pump. I use it with exfoliating cotton rounds every night after cleansing and before moisturizing.
5. Dr. Jart Water Fuse Sleeping Mask. This is my absolute go-to product every winter for dry skin. It transforms my skin in two days and is so, so moisturizing. I haven’t found anything else like it. It’s not really a “mask” either – it’s sort of like a thin serum that you put on OVER your moisturizer before bed. I put it on and wait about 10 minutes before going to sleep.
6. Face Masks! I love face masks for their pampering feel and especially since having Max… I find it relaxing and enjoyable. I’m a huge Glam Glow fan. I absolutely LOVE the Farmacy masks. I really like the Sephora face and eye masks too. I also recommend the SK II mask for a splurge because it is INSANELY priced and makes your skin feel like heaven. You can get at least two uses out of the serum in the packet.
7. Cover FX Enhance drops. I’ve been rambling on about these for months now. They are SO versatile and gorgeous!
8. Benefit Gimme Brow. This has been my go-to brow product for a few years now. I’ll probably grab two or three to stock up. Downside is they only last about one to two months for me.
9. Nars Smudgeproof Eyeshadow Primer. This is the shadow primer I’ve been using for a few years and the only one that I think works 100%. No creasing!
10. Tarte Maracuja Oil. The big one! I use this as moisturizer and mix it with my body lotion during the winter. It’s fabulous. For the last two months we have been using the Dr. Jart Ceramidin Oil, but since it’s more of a dry oil, I’m going to stick with the Maracuja for mixing as the weather gets cooler!
11. Elizabeth and James Nirvana Dry Shampoo. I’m a batiste dry shampoo girl through and through, but I really like having this version on hand for “fancier” occasions, because it makes my hair smell incredible. It also works super well!
12. BIG Philosophy bubble baths. Fresh Cream is my favorite Philosophy scent. I bought this one last year at the sale and look how long it has lasted! I’m only half way through.
13. Fresh Sugar Advanced Therapy Lip Balm. Best ever thing I put on my lips. Eddie and I both use this every night. It’s amazzzzing.
14. Nest candles. I really love the Nest fragrances for fall and winter (especially holiday) and did you know that you can get them at Sephora?! My favorites are pumpkin chai and birchwood pine.
15. First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream. This is a fantastic unfragranced super thick cream. I use it on face and body and always have it in my possession.
16. Sol de Janiero Bum Bum Cream. You heard me rave about this all summer and oh my gosh… it is AMAZING. It smells incredible – like a tropical beach. The only reason I’m hesitant to mention it is because it smells like summer, and I’m someone who likes to base my scents on the season. No reason you can’t stock up though.
17. Amore Pacific Treatment Enzyme Peel. This is SUCH an excellent, gentle exfoliator for the face. Love it so much.
General favorites:
Lipstick: Urban Decay Vice or Bite Beauty Matte Lip Crayon
Eye Shadow: Urban Decay or Makeup Forever
Tinted Moisturizer: Bare Minerals Complexion Rescue or Dr. Jart Premium BB Cream
Foundation: Makeup Forever HD
Concealer: Urban Decay Naked or Too Faced Born This Way
Blush: Clinique Cheek Pop or Tarte Amazonian Clay
Mascara: Stila Huge Lash or Benefit Rollerlash
Highlighter: Hourglass Ambient Light in Luminous Light

As for what’s in my own online cart so far?? A few Nars Velvet Lip Glides, more RMS beauty wipes, Anastasia Modern Renaissance Palette and the Formula X polish in Jetsetter! Can’t wait to hear what you’re planning on getting.
{While I generally don’t use affiliate links on my beauty posts, I am trying out a new program here for the month of November and included a few general affiliate links. Please know that this is TEMPORARY! – and only for this post. I felt comfortable testing it out since I was recommending all of my favorite products that I’ve talked about through the last four years. This does not mean that I am affiliated directly with Sephora or any brands mentioned, but it does mean that I will receive a (very!) small commission if you shop for these products through my links. Thank you guys so much for your support! Next month, my beauty favorites posts will return to being affiliate-link free, aside from amazon. Thank you so much for reading and making this space so much fun! xoxo}

Great roundup! It hadn’t occurred to me to toss the Glam Glow mask in my cart. So far I’ve got a gold gloss and some Smashbox liquid lipsticks in my cart.
gold gloss?! is it the bite beauty one??
I tried a sample of the Tatcha Mosturizer Cream and I’ve never felt something so hydrating on my dry sensitive skin…. Then I saw it was $150 a jar ugh! Tempted to purchase it during the VIB sale but that still seems so pricey. Do you have other recommendations besides the Sunday Riley? I’ve tried a sample of that Tidal cream but I didn’t think it worked well for my skin.
i love tatcha stuff but it is so pricey! have you ever tried philosophy hope in a jar? i know a lot of people love that. i also want to try the drunk elephant retro whipped cream! josie maran also makes an argan face cream.
you might like that first aid beauty ultra repair cream if you skin is sensitive and dry? you can buy really small travel packs to try!
Thanks for the response! I went to Sephora today to check some of those out… A lot of them were aimed at oily skin. The associate recommended caudalie so she gave me a sample to try. But I’m thinking I may cave for not only the large size of the Tatcha cream but that Tatcha gift set they have that also has some of their other products to try. The associate was hyping the rice exfoliator so I’m intrigued. Also just bought the hourglass No28 primer serum to try.. Have you tried that? It feels really nice to the touch and also moisturizing because I’ve been having some dry patches that my foundation doesn’t look great over (I use the hourglass stick foundation). But haven’t tried it on my face yet. Also have in my cart for the VIB sale: Anastasia brow wiz (sticking up), bite amuse bouche lipstick (very comfortable and moisturizing), kat Von d concealer, Marc Jacobs eyeliner, Laura mercier brightening powder (another one I love and buying more)…. The the list keeps growing yikes. Also thanks for the Charlotte tilbury recommendation. I got bitch perfect lipstick and it’s very pretty! Some other items I’d highly recommend are the smash box liquid lipsticks, benefit roller lash, it cosmetics pressed powder, Laura mercier translucent powder, and the Anastasia MR palette is freaking GORGEOUS!! I don’t touch any of my other eyeshadow palettes anymore! Also just wanted to say I love these monthly posts!
So excited for the VIB sale! I definitely lean more towards skincare than makeup since those products are usually more expensive. I’m hoping to get the Sunday Riley Power Couple Duo. I recently tried the Primary Raw DoYou 2 Step Milk Peel and I loved it so I might stock up on some of those! I had never tried a peel before so now I’m trying to research before the sale. I’ve had my eyes on Amore Pacific so I’m glad you mentioned. Is it similar to Good Genes? I don’t know if I should get both if they do the same thing.
while they are both exfoliators in a sense, the good genes is a cream you put on and leave on and the amore pacific is a super fine powder exfoliator for cleansing. i’ve never felt anything like it! it’s insanely gentle and fine. i’ve never actually had both at the same time so that’s a really good point – probably wouldn’t use both together!
Hey Lauren! Thought I’d share this with you. I think this is fairly new and it gives you a chance to try more Sunday Riley products: http://www.sephora.com/squadgoals-skincare-essentials-kit-P413615?skuId=1860568&icid2=sundayriley_lp_bestsellers_carousel1:p413615. I got the Power Couple Duo last year but I think I’m going to get this one this year.
love your beauty posts! wanted to tell you that I recently bought, for the first time, Nars Skin products and definitely recommend their moisturizers! They are free from parabans and the other “bad” stuff too.
ooooh love that meredith! i’ve never tried any so maybe i will give them a shot!
Fantastic products. How do one get them to buy in Nigeria. I live in Abuja, to be specific. The Russian lip balm, clarinet beauty soaps . Thank you.

Good choices! ???
I have my eye on the Kate Somerville deep tissue repair, as I refuse to buy it at full price ($150). Its a good idea to stock up on Drunk Elephant stuff! I want that Natasha Denona palette too! And NARS velvet glide lip set, if it ever comes back in stock!
I just put Nirvana bourbon in my cart on your rec, so, thanks! I love the Vice lipsticks for the price, but I just feel like they don’t even get close to the level of quality that I get from my NARS lipstick (but you know, double the price will do that). I put the Tatcha resurfacing mask in there too because I love it but dang! Pricey! I chickened out on the drunk elephant glycolic…maybe next year!
I too am a HUGE fan of Sunday Riley but this time (I shopped the friends and family that is going on now for 20% off), I went with the brand Herbivore and got their Phoenix face oil and Blue Tansy Mask. The oil is GREAT! I haven’t tried the mask yet but it seems very promising. May be a brand to check out. And I got the Natasha Denona Star palette which I can’t wait to get! It was a splurge ?? but looks to be like a good one!
I would love to know your morning / nighttime skin care routine in terms of how you actually use the products you mention!
i second this one !
Yes, the Bite gloss–it looks so pretty! I’m going to go to Sephora ahead of time to try stuff on to see what it looks like on.
The Anastasia Modern Renaissance palette is PERFECTION! The formula is out of this world — extremely pigmented and buttery so it’s super easy to blend. Get it soon before it’s sold out again! I just used it for the first time today and I know it will be my go-to eye palette until the end of winter, guaranteed.
Thanks for this post! You’ve made my VIB Sale list a little bit longer. ;)
i seriously might buy it before the sale – it’s been sold out for so long that i’m afraid it’s going to sell out again!
I was just saying the same thing today, Jessica! I feel like I need to buy it before Friday…Can’t wait for the weekend sale!!!!
Way too many great things to buy!
Ah, I cannot wait for the sale. Its a little Christmas shopping for me. I love these posts as I never have time to keep up with beauty products. I always come away with one or two new favorites.
Where do you buy the exfoliating cotton rounds?
The dry shampoo link takes you to Tom Ford…I don’t mind though …LOL
Thank you for a great favorites post as always
i get them at target! :)
Woo hoo! Crazy Rouge member here. I just moved all of my “loves” to my cart and it totaled over $550!!! Yikes! Please tell me I’m not the only one! Thank you so much for this list! I’ve added the Kevyn Aucoin bronzer, Bum cream, and some Bite Beauty to my list!
HA omg my cart is at like $600 right now too, because i just keep adding things! once the sale comes along i will look at everything and obvi bring it down but sheesh… i don’t know how!
Get the Tobacco Vanille. It’s amazing, and it lasts forever since it’s really strong so you don’t use a ton at one time.
Thanks for this post! I’ve been wanting to try the Bum Bum cream since you mentioned it over the summer. I’ll have to stash it away for next year!
I think I heard the FormulaX stocking/holiday sets were out??? The colour mix this year looks amazing! A perfect 1 of everything you’d need.
Sephora lover but the local in-store option for me is Ulta. Having loyalty between the two stores kills because I’m not spending enough at either to be fancy which is not helping me since I’m not VIB and desperate for the Nirvana Black.
I look forward to this event every year! I want a couple Anastasia glosses(specifically Purple Rain, which is constantly sold out everywhere by me)but I think I’m gonna really get it done and just buy TF Cafe Rose. Ridiculously overpriced but I rarely go crazy like that. :)
Thanks for sharing your favorites! I am a HUGE Sunday Riley fan too! Can’t wait for the VIB Rouge sale but am still irritated year after year that VIB Rouge & VIB have the same discount.. how can Rouge members spend a minimum of $650 more per year and the only perk you get is to shop a few days earlier? :-/
I am actually glad to see that you have affiliate links live for this post! I know a lot of people are sensitive to how bloggers use them but I feel like you give us a lot – let us help support what you share and what we love. Plus we know you won’t overdo it on the affiliate links as your discretion already attests!
Your run down seriously makes my life easier. I get so overwhelmed by the choices. I love Sunday Riley products too. I haven’t tried Tidal yet. And good point about gift sets – such a good way to try products without paying full price! Thanks!
