Holiday Gift Guide: For Toddlers.
I’m back with gift guide number three – this time, all about the babes! I should add a disclaimer that I only have an almost-two year old boy, so am not really familiar with toys above that age range. These are the things that we absolutely love and a few I plan on buying for Max.
For more items that we love, you can check out our baby favorites!
Aden and Anais Dream Blanket. I bought this blanket before I had Max, but it is easily everyone’s favorite blanket in the house. I can’t describe how soft and fluffy it is and it gets even better with age. It’s also light but very warm at the same time.
Fisher Price Bright Beats Dance and Move BeatBo. I have no idea why but Max is absolutely obsessed with this toy. And he has been for about a year. It’s annoying to parents but fun for babes and that’s all that really counts, right?
Fisher Price Bubble Mower. Easily Max’s favorite outdoor toy at the moment. It can surely be used indoors first though if it’s too cold out.
Pottery Barn Kid’s Kitchen. OKAY. I am on the fence. We are buying Max a play kitchen for Christmas this year and I’m trying to decide between the sleek and (new) vintage kitchens and the classic Fisher Price (or something similar) kitchen.
Crayola Sidewalk Chalk Box. We went through nearly two of these this year and if I’m being honest, I’m a little crazy about the colors myself. I’m sure Max would be happy with any chalk, but this box is the cutest!
Green Toys Dump Truck. Right now, we are in love with any sort of dump truck, tractor or large car. We absolutely love this one for indoor and out.
Pottery Barn Kid’s Chair. I bought this last year for Max and he was way too young for it, but now he absolutely loves having his own chair. He sits in it every morning and plays with his cars or watches some Daniel Tiger. Too adorable.
Melissa and Doug Wooden Puzzles. These are such classics and Max can’t get enough. Anything with cars, horses or trucks wins!
Hanna Anderson PJs. I’ve raved about Hanna PJs since Max was born. They are such a great gift and excellent quality. The PJs we have bought from Carters or Target have practically worn out already. The Hannas stay in nearly perfect condition. They also sort of “stretch” with the kids. Max is still wearing his from last Christmas!
Mini Cooper Foot to Floor Ride On. This was a impulse purchase that Eddie made at Target one day when it was on sale. It lived in our basement where we pushed Max around for months, but found its way outside this summer and it’s one of his favorite things. He can entertain himself in this for a long while. And we can push it like a wagon when we take walks!
Large JellyCat Plush. Jellycat plush animals are the best! They are so super soft and fluffy. I adore the huge ones that Nordstrom has right now and want to get Max the puppy.
Dragons Love Tacos. I could put a whole host of books together that we love right now, but this is Max’s current favorite. If you guys want a complete list, let me know.
Mega Blocks Scooping Wagon Set. I can already tell that Max is going to be a Lego freak in a few years. These are a daily toy right now and he even brings them in the car when we run errands. He loves the wagon!
Melissa and Doug Pizza Party. I got this from some wonderful readers during a book signing before I had Max and it was the one toy I just couldn’t wait to bust out. Max adores it and it really helps that pizza is his favorite food.
B. Toys Meowsic Keyboard. My mom has a piano and Max loves to play it. He also loves music class – so this is on my list to get him this year! I think he will be thrilled. Am I going to want ear plugs?
Radio Flyer 4 in 1 Stroll ‘n Trike. Absolutely love this and how it can be used for multiple years. So fun!

These are great. Would love your toddler book list too!
Yes please! To the full books list! My just-turned-two year old is obsessed with books & because she makes me read them over and over to her each & every day, by necessity (of my sanity) I’m always on the lookout for new & exciting ones!
Have you seen the IKEA play kitchen? I think that’s going to be my choice for my son.
My daughter loved the Kitty keyboard from Target. Really fun and will last you a long time.
I think it has a volume control.
going to look into that one!
Would love a full book list. My almost 7 month old loves books and I would be curious to know your favorites throughout max’s little life. We have dragons love tacos and it’s so cute!
definitely going to make one!
Don’t do it!! That keyboard is the worst. The meows will drive you literally insane.
OH NO! hahaha. okay i might have to take this off my shopping list!
Awww… my son has the kitty keyboard! Bought it for him when he was six months and he loves it! There is a volume control! Has a record button too, so he can record what he plays and then play it back!
Yes yes yes to a post about your fave kid books. I’m always looking for new, fun books for my boys.
okay i’m on it!
I am very picky in my baby’s toysbaby’s toys and other accessories. All of your gift items looks very nice.
YEA BEATBO! my good friend just got my 9mo old the beatbo dance toy and she loves it soooo much. And I already know all the songs by heart *sigh* (C is for clapping, it’s what I like to do!) lol

We love all of these in our house, especially the building blocks, puzzles and chalk! One thing, though, – we had that kitty keyboard and donated it because it was the MOST ANNOYING THING EVER! If it was just a keyboard it would be fantastic, but there are some songs (with words) that play when you push that little cat button and they are so terrible and the reason why we donated this toy.Â
Do you have a list of favorite toys for a one-year-old? Not sure if you did this gift guide last year, but I have no idea what to tell the grandparents to get my son this year!
We bought the kid kraft retro kitchen from Amazon when my now 7 year old was 2, at a fraction of the PBK price. Â I just sold it, and the purchaser commented that it still looked brand new (after 5 years of heavy use). Â It’s a crazy good value. Â If we had gone plastic, I don’t think she’d have been interested in it nearly as long as she was. Â
Yes to the book list! We love Dragons Love Tacos! You should check out Mother Bruce. You would appreciate the bear who cooks hard boiled eggs and drizzles them with a honey salmon sauce, a recipe that he found on the internet!
OMG do NOT get the kitty keyboard it’s annoying in the worst way. I had to hide it from my kid and ended up selling it to a consignment store…I swear I wouldn’t have if I could at all stand it…we have Beatbo if that tells you what I’m willing to deal with. My friend has the doggie guitar from B. Toys and I love it so much more, the songs are softer and slower and not so grating on the nerves. Just lookin’ out for ya girl!
Hi Jessica,
I’d love to get the full list of what books are in your toddler library as well. I have a 22 month old avid book lover!
What are you doing for Max’s stocking stuffers?
i’m not completely sure of everything yet, but i am going to get him a lightening mcqueen toothbrush and toothpaste! we saw it at target and he is obsessed with “brushing” his teeth. (aka, holding the toothbrush in his mouth, haha)
Great list! I have a few of these already and will add some of the others to our list! Our big gift this year will be a wooden train set as our almost two-year-old boy is obsessed with the train set at Barnes and Noble!
