Tuesday Things.
1. Aren’t these radishes the prettiest things ever?! They are called easter egg radishes! Now only if they come covered in sparkles and glitter, my life would be complete.
2. I’m seriously craving these butterbean and squash toasts. Looks like a flavor explosion.
3. Please tell me you’re in this club: I set an alarm on the weekends even though I don’t need to, because I can’t think of anything worse than sleeping late and wasting the day away.
4. Over the weekend, I bought an actual CD. An actual CD! My car is almost ten years old and while it has an audio jack, it doesn’t have bluetooth connection or anything, and IÂ got the iphone 7 for Christmas and it there is zero way to plug my phone into my car for music purposes… so I bought a CD to make it through a 30 minute ride.
5. Having a kid has made me crazy in the holiday decor area. Our house looks like cupid exploded everywhere and I 100% love it. It makes Max so excited!
6. TV things! What the heck was up the with The Affair? I kind of expected that to be the situation with Noah, but I need more Cole/Allison in the story next week. And I did like this episode of Homeland a little more than the first one. Nashville? Still liking it more than I thought. And This is Us… best show ever.
7. Speaking of TV, I’m into season five of Gilmore Girls (yes I have not slept at all and basically do every ounce of work with netflix on, oh well), and while I am HEAVILY team Jess, there is one major problem. There is not enough Jess! Like he is in the show for five minutes. I need more. So much more.
8. Ooooh and last week I finished Lauren Graham’s new book (I liked it, it was cute) and I randomly started the Little Book of Hygge on a whim because I keep hearing about it. What are you reading right now?
9. Things that should never be on your to-do list. Well this just ruined my day.
10. One day last week, I somehow got sucked into the ice fishing hashtag on instagram which then got me sucked into looking up facts on Antarctica and if people live there or travel there and holy cow can you say procrastination?

you should use the headphone jack adapter! (the one they give you with the phone to let you plug in normal headphones through the lightning slot [definitely not the technical way to refer to it]) and plug the aux cable into the adapter! (I’m also positive none of this makes sense so ignore me if I’m completely off)
somehow mine is completely MIA! i can’t find it anywhere so i don’t know if i dropped it out of the box on christmas or something?! i did order one though!! :)
You can also order a lightning to 3.5mm male to male, something like this will help you avoid the fussy adaptors https://www.amazon.com/Lightning-Stereo-Stouch-Auxiliary-braided/dp/B01M1EC1WL
thanks sarah!
Oh my gosh, I read #3 and was like, do other people not do that? I do that every weekend, even after staying up late, for fear of wasting the day!
RIGHT.
Oh my god ice fishing is one of my number one fears. Did you see the people that have little HUTS ON THE WATER?! I’d be terrified that i’d be in my hut having a snack and the whole hut would fall through the ice with me in it. Not a normal fear? Ugh i’m ridiculous.
LOL i live on the lake and see this all the time in the winter. in my area the “parks” takes care of the lakes so often they will issue if the ice is safe enough for people, huts, snowmobiles, etc. There are also some “rules” that i think they follow like X days of the temp not going over Y degrees = safe for walking on. but then sometimes i wonder at people who are out there on certain days ! each year there are rescues. I think serious fisherman have devices in place that can help them if god forbid they would fall in…at least my grandpa did. i never have been ice fishing…i dont get it. but i did enjoy summer fishing with my grandpa for years !
hahaha! i love these details. i think it sounds so fun. i would probably be terrified though too!
I live in Minnesota and ice fishing is absolutely a favorite pastime around here. The ice houses (aka little huts :) ) are only put on the ice when there is at least 15 plus inches of ice on the lake. I have definitely had my fears too, I refuse to be one of the first people with an ice house out because I’m scared of falling through lol. Abdominal you do hear about that every year but it’s because people go out before there’s enough ice. But as long as you are aware and make sure the ice is thick enough it’s honestly a great way to spend a day. It gets so cold here it’s a great way to get outside for winter activities but still be warm :) plus you can have snacks! And no need for a cooler for your beverages, just set it on the ice next to your chair :)
I live in Cleveland and that still scares the crap out of me! Â Maybe i’ll work up the courage one day…not holding my breath though! hahaha
this is awesome!
yeah – I’m screwed on the “six items” list. totally why I spin my wheels. PS – got my 12 things from Christmas winner winner chicken dinner gift. Love the bag from Maxwell’s. Thanks Jessica – the whole vlog days were so much fun. you’re such a fun person. pink puffy heart you!!!
yay thank you stacy!! xoxo
Yes to num 3! Getting up early every day for work makes it impossible to sleep in on the weekends without getting a headache. But on Sundays I get up even earlier to do my weekly grocery shopping. I pick up a coffee, put in my earbuds, and basically have the store to myself. I look forward to it every week.
yes! i hear ya!
I have the “Little Book of Hygge” on my to-read list. Are you loving it so far?
i’m not very far in, but i am liking it!
My body just automatically wakes me up around 9am every weekend, anyway, so I never do. If for some reason I sleep later, I’m assuming that body just needed the extra rest. I can’t imagine setting an alarm on the weekend.

I have mixed feelings about their to-do list advise. There are some things that are totally habitual that I like to include on my list just so I can cross them off the list! When I can cross some of those daily things off it feels like a reward and a motivation to keep on being productive!
agreed!
I’ve always been Team Jess as well…and I couldn’t agree more, there is NEVER enough of him! Luckily now we can get our Milo fix on This is Us :)
getting it right now… gosh i love him so much.
My daughter turns two in Saturday and I don’t think I’ve set an alarm since she was born. Except for the handful of times we’ve traveled by plane with her and needed to get up crazy early. I’m reading The Nightingale right now and am completely enthralled. I’m half way through and definitely recommend it!
ahh happy birthday to her!! :)
team sleep in
HA
the real question is, what cd did you buy? my friend only has the 2nd ptx christmas album, so when her aux cord doesn’t want to work, we end up listening to “hark! the herald angels sing” in march.
that is SO funny because when i went to take the CD out of my car, it was a christmas one! haha. i bought starboy!
i just watched the first This is Us. i was holding off for some reason even though i heard it was good. i think cuz i heard it was sad and sometimes at the end of a long day i don’t want to watch “sad” i want to watch funny. So….i cant wait to see what all the hype is about.
As for lists….i read that article and have heard also of the “if it takes less than 5 mins to do it just do it dont write it down”. to me that is crazy ! do you know how many things pop into my head at times when i cant do them ? like at work at my computer i think oh i need to tivo this show…well i cant do that at work and if i dont write it down i will forget…or at home i think of something for work. if i dont put it on a list, again i will forget…or even if i could stop everything and do it right this second, that would mean breaking away from what i was currently doing. i don’t like it at all !!!! i would be jumping all over from task to task all day and letting my crazy pop up thoughts rule my day and that seems worse. am i alone here ????
Nope, you are not alone. My feelings exactly.
agree with you too!!
Where are you finding all your great Valentine’s Day decor?! My guess is Target…but I’m on the prowl…so curious where you’re finding good stuff!
yep, target! i found some cute things at pier 1 too but i have a love/hate relationship with pier 1. i feel like it’s so overpriced for the quality.
The struggle is real with #3, the fear of wasting a whole Saturday sleeping in when there is so much to do. I set up the alarm EVERY WEEKEND, to be able to do my errands and still enjoy the day. However, I’m always exhausted so end up hitting snooze more times that I will like. Also, curious What cd did you get?!
i got starboy. :)
Ummm. So when my phone took a swim in the toilet (no comment) a few months ago I had to get a new one I got the 6s because of the exact same reason. My Jeep is 7 and doesnt have any of that fancy stuff and i need to be able to charge and listen to music at the same time! It made me really sad for my jeep. I love it so.
i feel you!!
First, don’t try to blame Max on your extra decor. haha Second, I’m not a big ice fisherperson but my DP has an ice fishing shack in northern MN & we are taking my nephews this weekend. They loooooove it there. I guess I’ll have to Insta & hashtag it for people like you. :) Third, I never set an alarm on the weekend unless I specifically need to get up for something. Never. Although I thought people with little kids (or pets) never needed alarms?
ha, it’s so true that i barely need an alarm with max, but sometimes i do like to get up earlier than him because it’s the one time i can get things done!! and yes… um please tag me in your ice fishing pics!
Glad i’m not the only one in the 10+ year old car club! It’s a toyota so it still runs great but i’m hoping to buy something new this year – auxiliary jack and bluetooth here i come!!
heck yes! i have a honda so we are in the same boat with those long lasting cars. i’m secretly hoping i can even push it another year or two. or three?!?!
I genuinely would love to know how you find the time to do your job so well, parent Max, watch TV shows you love AND find time to READ!! I miss reading so much! (perhaps I need to learn how to manage my time better, and make it a priority…?! ;) ) But I am so envious that you’re constantly blowing through books and telling us about them! teach me your ways!
haha THANK YOU julie! first, it obviously helps that i work for myself because it’s not like we need to be out of the house. as for tv, i usually don’t watch any sort of tv until nighttime when i edit photos and do some mindless busy work that i have to do. but with my gilmore girls obsession, i’ve been putting it on my laptop while i’m cleaning the kitchen (max is usually just playing with toys or something) or even making lunch. as for reading, i only really read right now before bed! sometimes i fall asleep while reading and drop it on my face. sometimes i get hooked and read more! sometimes i also read in the morning while i’m still lying in bed, just a few minutes. it’s really all over the place! :)
You asked about reading and mentioned Antarctica so I have to ask, have you read “Where’d You Go, Bernadette”? It’s a fast, witty read and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
i haven’t! thanks for the suggestion!
I totz set alarms on Saturday and Sunday. Saturday=working out and Sunday=church. You’re not alone!
yessssss.
Girl you need a bluetooth adapter! I got one last year and it was literally life changing! I can listen to all my podcasts, make phonecalls, and listen to all my apple music in my 2005 corolla! Here’s the one I have- https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B015MGRO64/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1Â
It’s super easy to set up!
ahhh thank you!
THIS is what I have needed but just wasn’t sure what to look for— oh my gosh, THANK YOU.
#neverenoughJess
xoxoxo
TEAM JESS FOREVER! I’ve been watching since the show came out and I have always been and always will be team Jess.
Also can we please get a valentines decor house tour kinda like you did for Christmas? I love valentines decorations because I think theyre just so freaking cute and I would LOVE to see how you decorated!
First… you set an alarm? But… you have a toddler. I have a toddler. I sure as heck don’t need no alarms with a toddler in the house! Maybe your toddler has a thing or two he can teach mine…
Second.. my Uncle is leaving for Antarctica this week! He’ll be away for over a year. They have to train in all kinds of life skills for months before they go, including BASIC SURGERY. My Uncle, whose most recent job was in sea rescue, might have to surgically operate on someone! That’s crazy to me!
Oh, and also… isn’t that what radishes always look like? What am I missing?
Having the attention span of a gnat when it comes to music, I always get CDs from the library so I can have an endless amount of variety. I can always go back to my favorites once I’ve had a break, and if I pick up one I’m not crazy about, it’s no hit on my pocketbook.
I got a holder for my iphone that fits into the heating/ac “grill”. (I think it’s made by Apple?) Â I use it for gps.Â
Where do you like to purchase your Valentine’s Day decor?
Omg, Jessica, you are speaking my crazy language. I get up during the weak at an obscenely early hour so that I can train and get ready for work. I get up at this same obscene hour on the weekends for that very reason that you stated. My guy and I like to joke that on a Saturday by the time most people are getting up, we have trained, gotten cleaned up, walked the dogs, gone to the (24 hour) market, read, done some random house stuff and eaten twice :) Also, I was never into seasonal decorating much beyond Christmas…until Target. Oh my, my house looks like it threw up every holiday now.
Please tell me you have seen this! Immediately thought of you! https://www.facebook.com/Pretty52Official/videos/1747199035322193/
AHHHH!!!! I love that you like Gilemore Girls too ;-) I have watched the whole season more than once LOL but I didn’t know Lauren Graham had a book out??? I’m totally going to go look that up now! have you watched the 4 new episodes of Gilemore Girls yet? the netflix new series ones? it makes me SO sad that it’s 100% over now LOL it was like a teaser… I wish it would just start back up as a new series again ;-)
anyways, I love these Tuesday things posts! I have been listening to different interviews you have done that I have found on the internet and your FAQ video you did on youtube I love your energy and inspiration! definitely giving me inspo to find myself and be more true to me! xxx love your blog!
hope you are having a great day! ;-)
