Boyne City Travel Diary 2017, Part 2.
More crazy photos from my favorite place! To see part 1, click here.
How INSANE was this sunset? At least once when we are there every year, the entire sky and lake are hot pink and purple. No filters needed!
I’m super weird about sweets when I’m pregnant (like, I don’t want them at ALL) and the same goes for ice cream. I really just wanted soft serve, had a tough time finding it and when I finally did and asked for rainbow sprinkles (like the eternal 13 year old that I am), the kid asked if I wanted them on top or INFUSED. Infused?
I went with it! It was odd. But interesting.
More tacos from The Cantina in Charlevoix! So so good and their elote was amazzzzing.
How do I even handle having my heart outside of my body like this? I cannot.
Cherry donuts from Friske’s, which I look forward to everrry year and now have Eddie obsessed with as well. Too bad I’m not into sweets!
Somewhere over the rainbow. It was perfect!
Despite all these sunny beach pictures, our weather that week was pretty horrible. Really cold (like in the 40s, 50s and sometimes 60s), when the sun came out, it was still only about 62 degrees and it was sooooo windy.
Love the moodiness though.
This was fried halloumi with strawberries, mangos and cilantro, sort of like a salsa. Oh man, it was HEAVENLY.
The chilly weather didn’t stop this lovebug from going into the water almost every day! He would be freezing the minute he’d get out, but my brother was a trooper and would take him in and stay in with him for 30 or 45 minutes. Super cute.
My all-time favorite ice cream in the universe is Kilwin’s chocolate peanut butter. It (sort of) changed my weird pregnancy ways.

Ice cream “infused” with sprinkles… that’s definitely a new one, haha. I just hope it was still as tasty as sprinkling sprinkles! ;)
That sunset! Gorgeous! I love your annual trip photos. It makes me want to visit Boyne City someday. When my husband and I eventually venture back to the states to visit his family, it’s on my list.
I love seeing all your vacation photos. It looks like such an amazing place. My husband and I are planning on going in August. I was just wondering if you have any recommendations on a place to stay? Â You seem like the perfect person to ask since you’ve gone for so many years. Love the food pictures and will definitely be trying those. Thanks.Â
I don’t have a great recommendation on where to stay, since I usually stay with family, but you will LOVE it. I’ve lived in Michigan my whole life and there is nothing like Northern Michigan in the summer. I’m such a broken record about it but I love it!

As a Michigan native with family in Northern Michigan (Charlevoix! I was just there yesterday!) I love seeing these posts. There is nothing like Northern Michigan in the summer, despite sometimes moody weather.
hey girl- love the pics! so cool!
I’ve only been to southwestern Michigan (New Buffalo, Saugatuck, etc) and need to get up to northern Michigan ASAP. I’m always so jealous of your travel photos. Kilwin’s is so good – there’s one that supposed to open on Michigan Ave in Chicago right by my office and I can’t wait!
So I legit carried a box of those Friske’s cherry donuts on the plane back to Texas with me. SO GOOD. Also I recognize that Bloom flower/gift shop in your pic- wasn’t that store gorgeous?? This post is making me want to go back to Michigan ASAP. OH and have you checked out that Esperance market on the highway between Charlevoix and Boyne? Great for grabbing cheese/charcuterie/wine.
Oh my gosh we missed you. We were there from July 4 to July 7.
