Tuesday Things.
1. Every year, I get wildly excited about Shark Week because I think it’s going to be like how Shark Week was when I was a kid. And then I watch a computer generated shark and I’m like whaaaaat.
2. All about the rosé obsession and why we lose our mind over it. For me, personally, I just like the taste better than any red or white!
3. One thing I loathe doing is prepping super far ahead for my content on my blog, especially for the next season. I’m totally the fly-by-the-seat-of-my-pants person, write my posts the morning of – but I have to do a little bit of work ahead of time this year since I’ll be having another babe. TELL ME: what do you want to see!
4. After all of my bragging about my tomatoes, they’ve sort of bit the dust. I mean, I still have a bunch of them left but a few of the plants starting growing in insane ways, breaking off, and I have no idea how to control that when I already have the cages securing them. Help me!
5. I forgot about one show that we love that started back this week: Ballers! Sort of reminds me of Entourage in a way and I will forever be team Vincent Chase.
6. With finishing up my cookbook and trying to keep everything straight the first six months of this year, I totally failed at my bullet journal which is one of my favorite things to keep up with. But! My friend Rachel has an amazing book coming out on the process and I’m going to tell you about it and start back up Aug 1. This second half of the year always rejuvenates me again anyway. Normally I’d just do it today, but if you’re familiar with the bullet journal process, it sort of works on a month-by-month basis.
7. This also makes me want to grab all the neon school supplies that are out at Target but I mean, I HAVE to get over that at this point, right?! How much longer can I pretend that I’m still 13.
8. I’m still losing my mind over the nordstrom anniversary sale and have a ridiculous amount of shoes and coats at home that I have to decide on. And dresses! It’s so hard to decide while pregnant.

so disappointing!

I’d love to see more freezer meals! Tell use what freezer meals you’re making (and share new recipes!) prior to baby #2!!
I’d also be interested in breakfast oatmeal recipes, slow cooker recipes and tiramisu!!
i will be sure to make a recipe or two via the freezer! did you see my freezer meals list from when i had max? i’m probably going to base what i will stock my fridge with the most on that post!
thanks so much ceilidh! adding these all to the list. :)
I would also love to see some more freezer/ freezer friendly meals and soups! I have a babe coming around the same time (November) and that would be so helpful. Also, I would love to see a post on your bullet journaling! I have been dabbling in it a bit but would love to hear about your process. Thanks!
Also, I would love to see any healthy ish baked goods/snacks that might be good for toddlers and could be batch baked and frozen. I know that is quite specific (sorry!) but it can’t hurt to ask :)
awesome!! thanks so much. i have a bunch of requests for toddler recipes and meals but i struggle with that because i just end up feeding max what we are eating! i will try to do some specific things on make-ahead snacks for babes. :)
Our tomatoes have been a total bust this year too. We are in a totally different part of the country, but I’m hearing it from people all over. it’s like they don’t understand how attached we get to their success. Grow you little tomato babies we love you!
haha right?! i know!
I would love to see more vegetarian dinner content! I know that you’re not a primarily vegetarian recipe creator but I love the sensibility you bring to food and flavors and would love to be able to try more of your lunch/dinner options. Also- so ready for figs to come back to my farmer’s market so I can remake your late summer risotto! One of the best things I’ve ever made from a food blog!
thanks so much sarah!! funnily enough i probably eat vegetarian dinners 75% of the week, even if i make meat for max and eddie. i will be sure to include some more!
I second that ;)Â
Thank you!!
I have cherry tomato plants that are doing great but getting a bit unruly growing way over the cage and staked them to keep them a it tamer. Are yours in a pot? Mine are so I also turned the pot 180 degrees in hopes they would be straighter by having the “other side” grow toward the sun. I’m a notorious plant killer but they seem pretty happy so far.
so mine are in a raised garden bed (it’s not really a bed, more like a table!) and i just haven’t been able to control them this year. i think i planted too many in the bed, which may be the problem.
I’d love to see some healthy snacks/dips. I’d also like some lunch ideas, especially ones that can be prepped. Thanks!
gotcha molly! thanks!
Is crock pot a bad word? Maybe Instant Pot is better? I’m going to be a mom of 2 by the new year and will need some inspiration around that time to save us all from starvation.
Also on board with the freezer meals. Could also go with some more lactation cookie ideas.
Thanks!!
definitely not a bad word! i like to do a few new crockpot meals every year too. i don’t have an instant pot (and just have no idea where i would even store it if i bought one!) but if i get one, i will be sure to share. and yes yes, i have some good lactation cookie ideas in mind! just need to… “test” them out before i share. haha!

I love school supplies! And kids clothes they are way more fun than adult clothes!
they are, for sure!
Your post is so meaningful and inspiring. Thank you for sharing!
thanks!
Would love Instant Pot recipes and easy dinners on a budget!
thanks allison! will do!
So my second favorite blog after you (obvs) is the Art of Doing Stuff and she has a whole post about how to deal with tomatoes! Essentially if you are growing heirloom varieties you need to prune them… https://www.theartofdoingstuff.com/give-your-tomatoes-a-weave-pruning-and-supporting-tomatoes/
yesssss THANK YOU for this!!! also i am now obsessed with this blog.
I’d love to see more freezer meals, slow cooker meals, me-pot or 30 minute meals. After a long day at work, spending an hour in the kitchen isn’t always my favorite thing to do so I don’t love something to make my nights a bit easier.Â
gotcha! i hear ya – definitely working on those for fall.
I would love to see any recipes that deal with using up left-overs. Like, you have 2 hamburgers leftover from grilling on the weekend, and is there anything you can do with them other than put them on nachos (not that there’s anything wrong with that). Maybe something like “4 things to do with leftover. . .”
good call! thanks so much!!
I love how you gush and enthuse about food and I also think your overall  energy, humour and commentary is really spirited and fun. Your recipes are easy to follow and inspirational and your photos a delight. Where I am not so on board is where you blog about shopping, be it Target or Nordstrom. While on one level it reads like casual girl-to-girl friendly banter, it also reads like white privelage and first world problems. It seems like it would exclude more people than it would include. So, I am happier if you stick with what matters to everybody, which is creating and eating delicious, healthful and inspired meals. It would be more sensitive and appropriate to leave people to sort out their own shopping according to their own means.Â
thank you for the feedback! while i won’t be doing away with my favorites posts anytime soon (i’m guessing those are the posts that you refer to about shopping) since they have been a mainstay on my blog since i started in 2009 and some of my most requested posts, i only share them once at the end of each month on my crumbs page since i know they aren’t for everyone! hopefully you can just skip over those ones. i certainly never mean to come across that way – i’m just sharing the things that i genuinely love (i do not accept free product for that), be it something that is $5 from target or $100 from nordstrom, and by no means am saying anyone else should buy those things!
Jessica, I love your content! I would love if you could show a bread-free alternative when a situation allows. Like, one of your epic burgers with potato skins as the bun would be amazing. Especially if the potato skins can be cooked while roasting another ingredient. Thanks for being fabulous and neon!
Another blog I read does a mini-series periodically that I think is fun – she makes one main protein in the crock pot in a decent quantity and then does 3 recipes based around that protein. I’d love to see something like that with your spin on it. Super practical for busy people, regardless of what’s making them busy.
Also, I am so excited for your new baby. Internet friends are just like real friends!
I love school supplies!! It was my favorite part of the end of summer. My parents would take my sisters and I (totally dating myself right now) to Sears for new clothes and school supplies. Does anyone else remember when Sears sold school supplies? To this day I always buy myself a couple new fun /cool items for my office when the school supplies hit Target shelves ;)
What link did you meant to put in school supplies line. It said “This….” no link. Dying to know since September is almost like New Years to me!
oh i didn’t have a link! by “this” i meant my previous point, with bullet journaling and the notebooks and pens. :)
PS Thanks!!!
