Year Eight. (& a Giveaway!) {CLOSED}
{Thank you all so much for entering the giveaway! The winner is commenter Beth Cook who said “I think the most memorable moment was my father moving into an assisted living home with hospice services. You just think your parents will be around for a long time to enjoy their retirement years and their grandchildren. It’s hard on my mom going back and forth despite him not really knowing when she’s been there or the last time she came. It’s hard emotionally and financially. This is NOT what they wanted to spend their retirement money on. My guilt is living three hours away. Close enough to visit, but far enough away to have to balance family life/plans.” Congrats Beth!}
This week marks my eighth year of blogging.
Which is totally insane. EIGHT YEARS?!
That’s almost ten years. Ten years is a decade. I still feel like I’m 17 so how on earth this has happened… I have no idea.
I wish that I had the words to tell you just how much I appreciate you being here and visiting the site. I know what it is like to read the same blog for eight years. You are only reading one voice. It gets repetitive and sometimes boring and it is a lot of the same thing, because it’s written by one person. I’ve come and gone and come back and re-fell in love with many of my favorite bloggers over the years. I can’t really offer you anything other than myself (okay and maybe a plethora of trashed up recipes) who might occasionally change or stay the same or repeat herself or still think that she’s 17 years old inside.
So it means the WORLD to me that you have stuck around, read these rambles, been so kind and wonderful and shared your own thoughts in our little community here. Means seriously everything to me. I actually think of you all as friends, my invisible but real BFFs.
I hope you can see that I (still!) do this because I 100% OMGloveitsomuch and even though it became my job a really long time ago, I do it as authentically as I can and because I love it and so I can share things with you in this wacky internet world.
To celebrate these eight years and frankly, to celebrate YOU who has given me the chance to do this for so long, I’m giving away a $1000 amazon gift card to one lucky reader. This giveaway is not sponsored and given by me to show my appreciation for you. Giveaway is open to everyone and anyone!

My most memorable moment, in 2017 so far, was getting my toddler and baby a puppy. Sadly, he was given to us with parvo virus, and passed away a week into having him. But I’ve never seen my two and a half year old, so excited. It really was the sweetest thing. One day we will get them another one, but we are going to wait awhile. He stole our hearts, in such a short time, and so it will take some time to be ready for another. I’m thankful for the week we got, though.
My most memorable moment was a road with my daughter to L’anse aux Meadows Historic Site, NL Got that off our bucket list of places to visit.
Congrats! Next month I celebrate my 8 year wedding anniversary- 8 is a long time! My almost-1-year-old recently started saying mama and dada, but his “mama” sounds kind of like “nom nom” and it makes me insanely happy that that is his name for me. :) Love your recipes and I have appreciated all the baby favorites too as a new mom/nom nom.
My favourite summer memory was attending a Lobster Feast on a private Island, only 200 people invited, music by Lennie Gallant , all the local lobster, local wine and seafood was delicious.
I’m planning a Caribbean Cruise with my mom, sister and cousin for later this year. I’m sure many good memories will be made during this trip.
As boring as this may sound, my most memorable moment was when my hubby took me shopping for my birthday, and just sat while I shopped, no complaining at all; he is the most impatient person in the world, so this was amazing!
Seeing the grandson learn to walk was pretty special.
My twin girls started middle school this year!
Teaching my son how to cook over the summer was spectacular! Great bonding time!
I did a river cruise in Germany that was pretty exciting.
MY MOST MEMORABLE MOMENT THIS YEAR WAS BACK TO SCHOOL MY SON GOING INTO 1ST GRADE AND MY BABY GOING TO PRESCHOOL. WHEN DID THEY GET SO BIG ?
most memorable moment this year was my niece’s wedding, both her parents have passed away in the past 3-4 yrs and it was such a joy to be involved in her wedding, very emotional day
My memorable moment was moving into a new place!
Watching my mom graduate from massage therapy school!
Not really a happy one, but my father passed away this summer, although I think it qualifies as the most memorial event.
2 river cruises in France (Bordeaux Wine Cruise and Lyon Art Cruise ) were so exceptional that choosing one over the other would be an injustice.
We had the most wonderful family trip to the beach this summer.
Buying my first home!
My most memorable moment of 2017 was the birth of my nephew. He came a month early so it was a surprise! He’s perfectly healthy and happy.
My most memorable memory this summer is spending time with my oldest son and having bush walks and talks with him. I feel so honored to know him as an adult. What a beautiful man :)
My memorable moment in 2017 was spending a week in Florida attending 5 different spring training games.
Being there to celabrate each of the four grandkids getting a year older.
The most memorable for 2017 is still going on and that’s spending every day I can with my soon to be 95 year old mom. Her birthday is November 17, 1922 and she’s as funny as she can be. I love her so much.
Turning 40 and competing in a figure (bodybuilding) competition. “My Mid-life crisis!”
My most memorable moment so far was finding out I was pregnant and all the things that have come afterward. :) Unfortunately, the most memorable moment of the entire experience isn’t a happy memory. It’s when we were told our baby’s defects are so severe they’re inoperable and we won’t have more than a few minutes to spend with him, if he even makes it to birth. We’re due January 6th and I’m just enjoying every little movement he makes. Every new feeling from him is my new favorite moment of the year.
My most memorable moment was when the shelter brought out the puppy I was going to adopt. It was love at first sight!
My memorable moment was attending my daughter’s art exhibit opening!!
I went to see the Million Dollar Quartet show with my mom in the spring. It was great, excellent show.
My favorite memory of 2017 was having our first baby..Evelyn…and making you an aunt :)

My most memorable moment of 2017 was finally getting to go rollerskating again after 20 years! It was so much fun… until I broke my foot. :(
