Tuesday Things.
1. I know we’re in the last week of summer, but look at these granola and no churn banana bars! OMG.
2. Did you see that Henri Bendel is closing?! For some reason that makes me so sad. It kind of reminds me of my high school class trip to NYC.
3. With that being said, I am READY for pumpkins and all things fall. Um, I was even looking at Christmas decor this past weekend. Something about having kids makes me more excited than usual. I also want to decorate our bedroom.
4. TV things! Okay so we’ve been watching Jack Ryan on amazon prime and oh my, John Krasinski, oh my! Eddie was instantly into it but it took me a minute, admittedly. He says it’s what Homeland wishes it was – ha. He’s hated Homeland ever since the second season, BUT OH WELL. It’s good! I’m kind of hooked on it. We’re almost done and have one episode to go. Other than that, I’m waiting on new shows! Are you interested in a Million Little Things? Looks good, but like maybe it’s trying to be another This Is Us?
5. I found this on Tracy’s friday list and it is EVERYTHING: how to eat like a human when you work from home.
6. Anthropologie is usually my go-to place for fun dishes and glassware (regular life and blog props, it’s a thing), but some of the things they have right now? I swear that my mom has the same glasses in her basement from 1971. Everything is new again! I can’t wait until my kids say this about avocado toast or something.
7. The Emmy’s fashion?! I was going crazy over Jessica Biel’s dress. And, um, hello – I need Leslie Jones’ pantsuit. It was basically a unicorn and had my name all over it. And did you see the proposal?! GAH!
8. The museums of instagram? What a phenomenon. Not gonna lie – I’m always wanting to go to one. Like the ice cream sprinkles one.
9. We’re going apple picking this weekend, so hit with me all of your apple favorites. I’m thinking a galette and something caramely appley.

where do you guys go apple picking in pittsburgh? we just moved here, and i want to go!
Seorgel’s in Wexford is always a fun time. Starting this weekend, they have a fall festival every Saturday through at least the end of October. I think apple picking usually opens at 11:00 am, and they also have tractor/hayrides, a pumpkin patch, arsenal cider house, barbeque, cider-making tours, games/activities for kids, etc. It is always a fun time.
Noooooow will you watch The Americans???? Also I loved Mrs. Maisel and was so happy they won like, every award they were nominated for!
The BEST was winner Alex Borstein getting up out of her seat and taking off her wrap. I died, she is so fierce and embraced her moment like no one else – and of course, Amy Sherman Palladino’s loooong overdue Emmys!!
Have you ever made a Swedish apple pie? It is so simple but so good. I would love to see a trashed up version!
Have to say please try “Sneaky Pete” if you have Amazon created by Brian Cranston and David Shore
We just finished Season 1 of Sneaky Pete on DVD (we are super old school and don’t have internet or tv channels – I know!) but I agree – so good!
I agree with Eddie about Homeland. We are loving Jack Ryan as a nice refresh for the character.
*if you didn’t watch the Americans… whhhyyyyy? so good. I mean. so freakin’ good. All the dark & disturbing drama one ever needs from a TV show. Matthew Rhys deserved that Emmy finally.
I just don’t know about A Million Little Things. It screams ‘trying too hard’ to me. Maybe one episode to try it out.
I have lots of shows to catch up on- so I never worry about not having anything to watch We do want to watch Sneaky Pete (as I see Mara noted, as well) It’s on our watch list.
Having been shopping with a teen girl for back to school the past couple months… have you seen the clothes in the stores?! hello 1986 is calling. There she was ‘mom- look at the cute SCRUNCHIES!’ I also saw acid wash jeans. I almost fell over. so, yes, everything old is new again. clothes, décor.. yep. it’s all happening.
It’s always about chemistry and writing, if you ask me – one tangible, the other not…A Million Little Things didn’t, from the lengthy promo at least, hit the bullseye for me in those areas – and This Is Us has chemistry and great writing in spades. But I’m going to give it a try, because trailers can be deceiving!
agree. Exactly my thoughts and I will give it a try and we will see. It could be great
100% YES to decorating the bedroom(s). We did christmas sheets and throw pillows last year and it just made that much better of a holiday season. I will be getting sheets for the kids room this year and twinkle lights…all the magic!
Bahahaha. I walked by an Anthropologie with my husband the past weekend and I said “that is the most ridiculous store in the world – they sell all this stuff you can get at garage sales, but at prices you can’t afford!”
9.) HONEYCRISP!!!!
Oh, man. That article about eating mindlessly while working from home = TRUTH. I’m allowed to work from home on Fridays, and while I adore not having to do my 1.5 one-way commute that day, I also kinda dread being left alone in the house with All The Food. I already have tons of fresh fruit in easy reach and pre-portioned lunches and breakfasts (I meal plan and make all this stuff on Sunday for the entire workweek), but it makes no nevermind to me on Work From Home Friday. I will sail past it all in favor of all the things I shouldn’t snack on. *sigh* I need to repeat this mantra from that article: “If you think you’re hungry, but “don’t feel like eating a banana or an apple,” you’re probably not really that hungry.”
Just wrote my comment and the page refreshed and it was gone!! LOL! Sooo, I have to watch Jack Ryan. If you haven’t watched Mrs. Maisel, try it. The fashion, decor, and acting is amazing! Loved Tracy’s Friday List and her journal. Amazing! Have fun apple picking! I envy you; the weather here is still in the mid-90’s! The weather reporters hate to even give the report!!
Not going to lie… I did have to google Henri Bendel I had NO idea what that was. ha! Anthropology will always have my heart and I can’t help but love those colored glass goblets with the dots all over them (anyone know what I am talking about?) Although it is still 92 here today, my fall decor is in full swing! We plan to go to the apple orchard and the pumpkin patch here in the next few weeks with my little her 1st birthday is Oct. 9th, as well as hit up our local junk flea markets! Fall is my favorite! As for T.V. I’m over here just waiting for Grey’s Anatomy and This is us. A Million Little Things has caught my eye though I will probably watch and see how it goes. Also, if you like creepy American Horror Story is all over that and it’s only been one episode so far. We are redoing our kitchen right now so there wont be any baking for a while which makes me sad, I plan to jump in with a Strawberry Cheesecake Angel Food Cake Roll as soon as possible! The recipe has been staring at me for a little while now!
Here in Maine, we went apple picking last weekend and this is on my list of consumption VERY soon. Never made it but it looks divine! https://theviewfromgreatisland.com/apple-cider-doughnut-cake/
Hi! I am a super big fan of yours and obviously a super big dork for writing this! Easy recipes with apples would be great! My son just got braces and now we are all restricted to accommodate him which stinks. It is probably too much to ask but if any blogger is reading this, I would love a post on homemade foods that won’t hurt his braces! Have fun with your teeny cutie patooties because they grow up in a flash!
