Tuesday Things.
1. I have terrible news. The new peppermint bark Oreos? Um… they are amazing. And I don’t even care about Oreos. Run and get them.
2. As the weather gets chillier, my favorite thing at the moment is when Max says “there is frosting on the roof!” He means frost. But let’s all please call it frosting. Forever.
3. Okay so since I always tell you about my weird internet surfing habits late at night, my current one is looking at ocean animal-themed instagram accounts. Yep. All sorts of videos and photos about ocean life. WHY?
4. Have you seen (or, uh, participated in?) the prank of asking your mom about microwaving a turkey for Thanksgiving? Some of the threads are making me laugh out loud.
5. Right now I’m finishing up Elin’s book and then starting Michelle Obama’s book and then I want a good, cute Christmas read! Any recs?
6. Oh oh oh AND! Very into the Origins podcast all about Sex and The City. Could still watch it from start to finish. You have to listen to it!
7. This past weekend I saw Josh Groban (major not-so-secret crush on him) and his opener was Idina Menzel. My mind was seriously blown from hearing voices like that. Can you imagine what it’s like to be able to sing like that? Both of them make it look so effortless.
8. How to get all your work done in a 4-day work week. YEP.

My daughter is 8 and still, instead of “phew!” she says “phewf!” and I really may cry when she figures out she doesn’t need the f sound at the end. Also, I know you think you’ll never forget these cute things but seriously, write them down. And now I’m going to go sit on a porch swing and yell at the whippersnappers because those were the words of an 80 year old lady – BUT SERIOUSLY.
I have a blank book that i have written all the cute, silly, never want to forget them phrases my boys have said. I’ve also included the odd “rules” my husband and I have said while raising them since they were young. Some rules are particular to toddlers, like, “we keep our hands out of the dog’s bowls.” Some to tweens, ” Don’t Dab at the table. ” The best part? My 16 and 11 year old love to read the book and when something particularly noteworthy happens they tell me, “This is one for the book!”
Elin’s winter series, if you haven’t read them yet. Reading the last one, Winter Solstice, right now.
1.) Dip them in white chocolate. Yeah, I said it.
5.) Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol: The Classic Novel with Recipes for your Holiday Menu by: Giada De Laurentiis, Ina Garten, Martha Stewart and Trisha Yearwood.
Omg, I’m just finishing Michelle’s book and it’s incredible. It’s so inspiring, and I can see myself reading it several more times in the future because of that. It was so interesting to read the little things from her background that made a huge impact and ultimately contributed to where she is now. I loved getting the slightest behind-the-scenes look at the campaigns, inauguration, and life in the White House. I could go on and on. Clearly, I need someone to talk about this book with. Ha!
My late night internet surfing this week has been box opening videos for Amazon liquidation boxes. People buy huge boxes of unknown merchandise. They are labeled with just a category, like “personal and beauty” and people open the boxes on video. It is like opening Christmas presents, one after another! Addictive!
When referring to it being It outside my 2.5 year old says ” it’s spicy outside!”

I loved this christmas read!
Hahahahaha my daughter did the turkey prank on my yesterday. She is 18 in University and in her own apartment…and she doesn’t cook. She text me asking how to cook a 25 pound turkey in the microwave. I of course said she can’t. She insisted on knowing how because her friend has a big microwave. I was laughing and asked if she knew just how big that was. She wouldn’t let it go and asked me again how to do it. I said she puts it in a roasting pan and puts it in the oven. I had a good laugh when she sent me the screen shot of the Instagram post.
I was going to suggest Dickens’ A Christmas Carol as well. It’s witty and is written in a style we don’t use today. It’s not that long, so I usually start reading it Dec. 1 and try to get done by Christmas Day.
P.S. Our Thanksgiving dinner includes your sweet potato rolls and breakfasts this week include your peanut butter granola. #throwbacks
I love Jenny Colgan and she has a few Christmas books. They are part of her various trilogies but you don’t REALLY have to read the first books to read the Christmas ones. Christmas at the Beach Street Bakery is good, as is Christmas at Rosie Hopkins’ Sweet Shop. And Christmas at the Cupcake Cafe. Okay…they are all cute.
The Christmas Sisters by Sarah Morgan is very very good. I’m reading it right now and can’t put it down!
I sent the “how do I microwave a turkey” text to my mom and she just responded like “Um I don’t know? It’s better in the oven. Want my recipe?” Not sure if she really didn’t think it was such a bad idea or if she just didn’t want me to feel bad…
My daughter used to say ‘firsty’ for thirsty and ‘Fursday’ for Thursday (couldn’t say the ‘TH’). She just got stopped and I miss it SO MUCH!
My 3 year old lately: can we have a snowball bite? and “I want some apple spider”
