Tuesday Things.
1. Seriously dying over this baked spaghetti. Look at that!
2. When Eddie gets in fall mode, I mean, he gets into it. I think he bought 20 (yes, 20) pumpkins this weekend and strategically placed them all over the front of our house. It’s like his autumn passion project.
3. Speaking of, we’re starting our pumpkin patch tour this coming weekend. We basically go to a different one every weekend for the next month or so. I live for it.
4. Started reading American Royals last night and I think I’m going to LOVE it. Have you read it yet?
5. I am so old and out of touch now that someone needs to explain to me what a VSCO girl is. I thought VSCO was a photo editing app. Halp.
6. The best meal planning hack.
7. TV Things! What did you think of The Affair this week? Who else loathes Sasha Mann? And Lacy keeps telling me I NEED TO WATCH SUCCESSION so I’m def starting. I swear.
8. Highlight of the week is that I’m talking Max to see The Lion King (theater, not the movie) and I am ridiculously excited.
9. How Claire Saffitz gets it done. Love this so much!
10. Really want to wear one of those velvet headbands that I see everyone (on instagram?) wearing, but I look like a child! I mean, I wouldn’t leave the house in elementary school without a headband soooo….

What the heck!!?? I said the same thing when my daughter said SHE was not a VSCO girl LOL! She said I haven’t been around ha! I am the hippest mom I know little Miss 12 year old 😂
By the way….WHYYYY don’t you ever talk about Undercover quinoa??? I thought that would be something you’d be all over :) And could grace us with a homemade version pleeeeease!

My 12 yo son explains VSCO – I thought it was VISCO lol a as girls who wear scrunchies on their wrists and carry the brightly colored swell bottles. Basically his mother LOL!

I got halfway through an article on Slate explaining the VSCO girl phenomenon and thought to myself “what? Why is this a thing?” I probably should age my inner self as 75.
And Claire Saffiz is my favorite! I’m not a chef but I want to work in the BA test kitchen to just hangout with her and her awesome coworkers!

That pumpkin patch tour sounds like so much fun,I just learned the VSCO girl term last week, its basically a young girl who posts trendy pics and wears certain brands, like crocs,, wears scrunchies and over sized shirts. And I think there are some sayings to go along with it as well. I think it is this generations version of a valley girl, but worse.
This is the best description ever “this generations version of a valley girl”! After looking up 3 definitions, I kid you not, you have summarized it perfectly!
I am the proud owner of a VSCO girl.. to the point where they actually named their volleyball team at camp this summer ‘VSCO GIRLS’ I. am. not. kidding. My daughter is the full poster child. (except Crocs. we don’t have any of those in our home) We couldn’t be more basic white girl if we tried (and, yes.. that scary mommy article? i’m about 50% VSCO mommy- )
on that note, because i’m the mom of previously mentioned, my days of pumpkin patches are mostly done. UNLESS? the entire group of girls wants to go because? photo shoot time for their snap/insta life. but whatever. if they’re safe and having fun with parents around? i’m all for it. I really miss the days of just doing the all the pumpkin patches and farmers markets as a family outing

I learned of VSCO girl a few weeks ago. Means you have a hydroflask, scrunchies, Birkenstocks, Vans, t-shirts that are longer than shirts AND you have your VSCO account linked on your Instagram account.
My college age daughter who has had a VSCO account for 8+ years and has it linked on her Instagram is NOT a VSCO girl (even though she meets the Birk/scrunchie/hydroflask criteria) She rolls her eyes about it as much as us old ladies who are trying to figure it out.
I think it’s a 12-15 year old thing. My other daughter who is a senior also rolls her eyes about it.
Also guessing things vary from state to state, town to town. We are in CO.

Also…I don’t know anyone who watches The Affair – always dying to talk about it. This week was sooo creepy with Furkat and the citizenship marriage and the creepy rich “watcher” – so gross and I feel like all of them are just using each other. And does Sasha actually like Helen or another user situation to just have control over the script and a leg up on Noah? I did enjoy the scene with Helen’s mother – so funny.
I can’t wait to read American Royals!!! I’m waiting for my copy to come in from the library. Right now, I’m reading THE FINISHING TOUCHES, which is really fun, cute rom-com set in London (swoon!) about a woman trying to modernize and save her family’s finishing school, and also BLANKY, which is a super creepy novella about a baby blanket that seems to be a little possessed (you probably should not read this one, lol). Both are great reads!!
Also, I have no idea what VSCO is. Never even heard of it. I’m going to not look it up and live in mystery. :-D
I have two episodes of The Affair to catch up on. Yes, watch Succession it’s a good series. Haven’t read the book yet, but I’ve read good reviews about it.

The stage production of The Lion King is spectacular. I purposely watch YouTube videos of the beginning and cry like a baby every time!
Apparently, VSCO girls became mainstream enough for this 40 year old to google it last weekend. Scrunchies? They were always just a decorative edition to my ponytail, couldn’t hold up this mane.
