Ingredients

  • 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
  • 1 large egg, lightly beaten
  • 2 tablespoons raw turbinado sugar
  • 4 Harry and David Royal Riviera Pears, peeled and sliced
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 3 tablespoons brown sugar
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon freshly grated nutmeg
  • 1 pinch ground ginger
  • vanilla ice cream, for serving

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 425 degrees F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Use a small star-shaped cookie cut to make cuts in the puff pastry. You can use whatever kind of cookie cutter you’d like! Brush each piece with the beaten egg and sprinkle the turbinado sugar on top.
  • Bake the puff pastry for 15 to 20 minutes, or until they are golden and puffed.
  • While the puff pastry is baking, heat a skillet over medium heat and melt the butter. Once melted, add the pears and stir. Cook for 5 minutes, until they soften slightly. Add in the brown sugar, cinnamon, salt, nutmeg and ginger. Stir and cook for 5 minutes more, until the pears are tender.
  • To serve the mug pies, spoon the pears into the bottom of your mug. Top with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and a few of the puff pastry stars.
