1. You know how I shared those chicken fingers on Friday? Mr. How Sweet had been out of town and came home Friday night, opened the fridge and asked in disbelief, “where are the chicken fingers?!” To which I replied, “you mean the maple mustard ones that I made 2 weeks ago that you took for lunch? The ones that you ate before I could have more than two bites?” He says, “OMG, the whole way home I’ve been waiting to eat those chicken fingers. I thought you just made them! Are you sure that I ate them already??” Um. Yes. I’m sure.

2. I’m horrified to admit this but I finally found Biscoff locally and I soooo wanted to hate it since it’s super trendy, but… it’s amazing. Ugh. I’m annoying myself. Wait. I need to go eat a spoonful.

3. Pretty sure I watched The Bodyguard five times this past weekend and all I gotta say is… Kevin Costner can be my bodyguard annnnnyday.

4. Speaking of The Bodyguard, what does that ending even MEAN?! Are they together? Aren’t they together? I can’t take that sort of ambiguousness.

5. And speaking of Kevin Costner, my brothers and I used to have some weird obsession with him when we were younger and would watch Dances with Wolves millions and millions of times. It scared the crap out of me. But I loved him.

6. I’ve only had my iPhone for about 8 months and it already houses 4500+ photos on it. Is this… normal?

7. These might have jumped into my grocery cart today. I mean, I don’t know. I can’t help it that I’m forever 8 years old.

8. How insanely adorable is this funfetti cake!? I can’t even take it.

9. Last Tuesday I decided to cook a last minute feast and made some lobster with brown butter. It was SO beyond good that I hate it’s guts.

10. I bought these neon socks over the weekend and you’d have thought I hit the powerball. It’s the little things folks.

11. I don’t turn on TV until later at night when all the good trash is on, but I started turning on SoapNet every Tuesday while I write (um, if that’s what you want to call it) these Tuesday Things since 90210 is on. All I gotta say is Brenda and Dylan WHAT ARE YOU DOING? You’re ruining everything. Like my childhood.

12. I just tried to crack an egg for a recipe that I assumed was hard boiled and… wasn’t. I say I call it a day and turn SoapNet back on.

1. If you’ve read this blog for any more than a hot 5 minutes, you must know I’m crushed over the passing of Whitney Houston. Considering I I mention her no less than thrice a month, I’ve been drowning my sorrows in Boys II Men and Babyface since late Saturday night.

2. Oh and I have to say, the Whitney Pandora station is even better than Taylor Dayne, though they both play similiar tunes. But the Whitney station plays fabulous throwbacks like On Bended Knee that take me back to my 7th grade dance when I stood with my hands on some guy’s shoulders and he barely touched my waist and we didn’t move any closer than 8 inches to each other while “dancing” for the fear of spontaneously erupting into flames.

3. Thrice is such a gross word.

4. I spent the blizzards of ’96 and ’97 watching Waiting to Exhale and The Preacher’s Wife over and over and over and… over again. My parents were thrilled since Waiting to Exhale was quite the… “education” for someone my age. P.S. that is still one of my favorite soundtracks of all time.

5. I’m probably not going to shut up about Whitney for a really long time but you already know how annoying I can be… sooooo yeah.

6. I decided to cook a last minute feast tonight and it’s including… FONTINA SMASHED POTATOES. I’m making them up and I will probably eat them all myself.

7. Yesterday I made cookies with this guy’s sister and caught her in the act of sneaking chocolate chips.

Wait. Is this my child?

8. I’m pretty much dying over this fluffernutter french toast. Many of you seemed surprised when I mentioned that I had marshmallow fluff on hand at all times, but what really concerns me is why you DON’T have marshmallow fluff on hand at all times.

9. Yes I’m serious. Why?

10. On Friday immediately after my workout I ran into the store, still dripping with sweat, and walked out with 4 pounds of butter. This is not unusual.

11. I’m still eating gummy vitamins like they’re going out of style. I hope I live.

1. Last week my mom was dying over this video of Kristen Bell, so I had to jump on the bandwagon. I pretty much watch it once a day. Someone needs a life!

2. I also had the same reaction as the video above when I learned that James Taylor will be in Pittsburgh this year. And yes, I’ve seen him a million times and yes, I am going no.matter.what. Gahhh! I’m seriously 60 years old… I can barely take it.

3. Oh oh oh, I also had that reaction when I learned Jersey Boys is coming back to Pittsburgh, because if you’ve been reading long enough you might remember that I went through a phase of about four solid months when I listened to NOTHING ELSE but the soundtrack. Literally nothing else. All day long. Why am I not single? This doesn’t seem right.

4. Well maybe it seems right since I cook enough food for an army. Then I remember that my husband has framed autographed pictures of wrestlers still hanging on the walls.

5. I’m not much of a cracker person, but I seriously cannot stop eating these Blue Diamond Smokehouse Nut Thins. O.M.G. I want to cover myself in a blanket of these and eat my way out. It’s sort of like bacon covering a cracker. But not.

6. Um, but I think that might be my dinner tonight. Bacon on a cracker FTW.

7. This is a picture of my new favorite snack. Salt on pepper on hard-boiled eggs on hummus on toast. In my mouth.

8. Speaking of all this food, I roasted a wedge of cabbage for the first time today to see if just maaaaaaaybe I could handle it. It was okay, sort of like a massive brussels sprout, but then it was just… SO MUCH. No can do.

9. On the other hand… this salad may make me want to eat vegetables for the rest of my life.

10. After a wild Saturday night date of church and Chipotle, we watched the Ides of March and yes, I did almost have a heart attack. Thank you for asking. Clooney and Gosling on one screen? Illegalness.

11. Know what makes me insanely giddy? This.

12. Especially because now I’m not the only one who looks like that when I eat a cupcake.

1. Yesterday I… “stumbled” upon an old old old OLD school episode of 90210 (like maybe one of the first?) and while I couldn’t even get over how horrific the acting was (except for you Dylan, I’m still love you) all I really thought was… I want to wear Kelly Taylor’s brown suede jacket that has 6 pounds of fringe hanging from it. 2. Thursday night I made us copycat Chipotle bowls inspired by Mara, which made my entire week worth living. 3. I’d like to tell you to do the same, or even that I can’t wait to do it again… however the entire prep took me nearly 2 hours and made me want to yank my hair out and while it was super super super delicious, I think I’ll stick to driving to the nearest location and spending $10. 4. Ooooh but then I can’t have bottomless blue corn chips. Rats. Decisions decisions. 5. We’ve moved on from Dexter (since uh, someone watched 72 hours of it in like 2 weeks) and now have watched Homeland, which we really love… but but but – before you recommend all these crazy smart people shows, I must tell you that [...]

Things I’m {Currently} Obsessing Over.

This blood orange smoothie. This TJ’s tricolor quinoa. We’ve loved quinoa for years, but this makes it 800 times more fun to eat. The pinto beans and bacon bubbling away on my stove. OMG. This chicken. !!! This chocolate that has magic powers since it somehow jumped into my grocery cart. Not as good as my fave Lindt sea salt chocolate, but still fab. Avocado toasts. They will never, ever, ever get old. Ever ever. The way I’m still wasting my life away on Pinterest. This face scrub. I’ve used Yes to Carrots daily moisturizer as my daytime face :stuff: for years, but just recently picked up the scrub. It is so gentle yet really cleansing at the same time. Lovey dovey. My spur-of-the-moment lunch today. When Bella sits pretty. This. Obviously. This raw chocolate milk. The fact that I’m almost through Dexter which means I can finally regain my productive life back. This blog. As usual. Anything that Rachel writes. Really. Anything. These. I wasn’t joking when I said earlier in the week that I literally thought my lips were going to fall off. I was three steps away from Urgent Care when my screwy combo of Neosporin cream [...]

1. Somehow this and this ended up in my online shopping cart. I searched high and low for it while on vacation last year but it was sold out everywhere. Not anymore, my friends. Not anymore. 2. Remember last week when we all talked about Dawson’s Creek? Tracy shared this website with me and made me the happiest camper ever. You’re welcome. 3. It’s National Peanut Butter Day! I have absolutely no idea how you should celebrate. 4. Tell me: is there anything better than grilled cheese sandwiches and pickles? Oh wait. Yes there is… grilled cheese sandwiches with ketchup. Better than that? Two grilled cheese sandwiches with ketchup 5. Seal? Heidi Klum? I will never learn. Just shoot me now. 6. My jaw quadruply dropped four times this week. Can you say asparagus cake, red velvet milkshakes, red wine lollipops and PIG CANDY. Pig freaking candy. I die. 6.5. Nevermind, I can’t die. It’s PIG CANDY! It’s given me something to live for. 7. My cookie butter is almost gone. Meaning… my life is almost gone. For real this time. 8. Ummm I don’t even want to tell you how many hours of Dexter I’ve watched in the last week. It’s [...]

1. I’ve been such a grown up this week! Yesterday we bought a new washer/dryer and today I went ALL BY MYSELF to get my tires rotated. This is huge. 2. I should not brag about such things however, because now we are broke. 3. I also have determined that I would rather spend my money on anything – and I literally mean ANYTHING, like even a freaking broccoli farm – than a washing machine. Barf. 4. I also got my car inspected today by accident. Total grown up. 5. While getting my car inspected by accident, I sat next to the most negative woman I have ever encountered in my life. So I secretly brought up a positive quote search on Pinterest and titled my iPad her way. 6. We are now enamored by this insanely easy tomato sauce. It is so incredible and even I – who has abhorred all things tomato sauce-ish since birth – find myself craving it. I mean, lots of spoonfuls of romano helps. 7. Remember last year when I went through an obsessive tuna + avocado lunch phase? Well… it’s back. But with really thick, crusty toasted multigrain bread and bacon. Oye. 8. [...]

1. Good news! I’ve come out of my country love song Pandora slump and have found myself right smack in the middle of the Taylor Dayne Pandora station. My life is made. 2. It’s even more made with these baked egg boats. O.M.G. Holy bread. 3. Oh wait. Not done. Because I also can’t stop thinking about this sweet milk granita. I’m making it tonight! For me, myself and I. 4. I spent all day Friday cuddling up to that baby that makes the best faces ever. While I was doing that, his sister painted her eyelids with sparkly pink lipgloss. 5. On Saturday I drank a salty caramel bourbon milkshake. Helllllllo heaven. I had quite a productive weekend! 6. How am I sure that my husband really knows me? He put two of the perfect cube ice trays in my stocking this year. I may have been more excited about those than I was for the iPad. 7. And no… that’s not coffee up there. It’s hot chocolate… COLD. Because I want to be cool so badly and like coffee and I’m just… not. Frown. 8. Speaking of stockings, guess who is still fully decorated for Christmas? I like [...]

1. Over the weekend I finally saw Crazy Stupid Love and let’s just say… why do I not live inside that movie? 2. Oddly enough, the day before I watched Dirty Dancing because it’s my favorite movie EVER. Ever ever ever. Patrick Swayze was truly my first crush and when I was 7 years old I used to make my mom “practice” the lifts with me. When she wasn’t around or was busy, I’d use the arm of the couch to hoist myself up. 3. If Ryan Gosling ever tried his big Dirty Dancing move on me I’d probably have a stroke. 4. Even though it’s been on my workout playlist for months, the Kia commercial with the rats or gerbils or hamsters or whatever the heck kind of rodents they are reignited my love for Party Rock Anthem. Those commercials make me stupidly happy. 5. Last week while shopping for after-Christmas sales, we stopped at the Cheesecake Factory and both order items off of their Skinnylicious menu. It was soooo good and didn’t force me into a food coma so I was still able to spend money on things I don’t need. Oh but Mr. How Sweet had to [...]

1. Last night my entire family went bowling and this was like the first time I’ve been bowling in probably, uh… 20 years. I am just fantastic. You should see me. I got a 44 for my first game, then a 38 for my second. Everyone REALLY wants to take me bowling again. 2. I got Mr. How Sweet lots of nice stuff for Christmas, and it turns out the only thing he really loves is the cheap remote control helicopter I gave him. It has saved my life. Like now I can scream, “go play with your helicopter!!!” 3. He got me lots of nice stuff for Christmas, but I still didn’t find a maid in my stocking. So he is currently upstairs cleaning the bathroom on his Christmas vacation. 4. Even though he didn’t get me the maid, he did get me the iPad 2… so tell me wise friends: which apps should I download? If there is one thing I succeed at it is spending money. 5. It’s definitely not bowling. 6. Oh and one more holiday related item: I stuffed his stocking with beef jerky, beef stick, Bone Suckin’ seasoning and… pumice stones. I swear he’s [...]
